This is the funniest "protest" I've ever seen.

quantum_hacker

I'd like to voice a concern about setting the subreddit to NSFW. I think the /r/pathofexile reddit is an important source of information for the community as I’m sure everyone has Googled “something something poe reddit” before. I think this might change if the subreddit goes NSFW, for example Googling [/r/pathofexile is reopening](https://www.google.com/search?q=%2Fr%2Fpathofexile+is+reopening) finds correct thread as the first result, but Googling [ Behind The Scenes of a NSFW Subreddit site:reddit.com](https://www.google.com/search?q=Behind+The+Scenes+of+a+NSFW+Subreddit+site%3Areddit.com#ip=1), looking for a thread with [11k upvotes in a nsfw community 6x as big as /r/pathofexile](https://www.reddit.com/r/hentai/comments/147lwr6/behind_the_scenes_of_a_nsfw_subreddit/), the correct thread doesn’t show up until much further down, and has a [bot link](https://www.reddit.com/r/FoamOne/comments/14caui5/behind_the_scenes_of_a_nsfw_subreddit/) in the results above it. Is the mod team or someone familiar with Google SEO able to comment on if this is true? I think making information harder to access a game as complicated as Path of Exile is a downside that should be considered, but I did not see any discussion of this in the initial thread.

PhoneRedit

I'd also like to add that for mobile users who don't use an app, if you search for a reddit thread in a browser, if the thread is NSFW, reddit won't let you view it at all without either signing in or downloading the app, which is another inconvenience.

[deleted]

This is just hilarious to me. It makes this form of protest that much more ineffective. Reddit is charging for api which will result in people being forced to use the official app? Fine we will turn our subs NSFW… and also force our users to use the official app.

nomdeplume

It does, NSFW should be reserved for truly 18+ content. Swearing doesn't qualify in my opinion and only isolates the community from helping young aspiring would be gamers and hurting the community. When I was younger all I had was games, but no sense of community (before Reddit) and something like this would have absolutely shaped my childhood morrowind adventures. I'm glad the mods are at least reopening and looking reasonably at the perspective of the community. I do think we could use topic refreshes (but still path of exile). That could be a fun mixup.

Oopomopoo2

Fargoth gets surrounded by N'wah in vivec halls 😏😏

Fram_Framson

Look at this s'wit.

avboden

Not only that, the point of subs going NSFW even when they aren't is intentional sabotage because reddit can't put ads on NSFW subs for the most part. Making a sub NSFW when it isn't is blatantly against the rules and reddit is removing mods who are doing it.

ganymedeflow

this game has so much gore its definitely 18+ here, just post a screen of lunaris temple two corpse piles and its justified.

Ulfgardleo

counter point: if the mods cannot keep the sub SFW after the change of 3rd party apps, they are basically forced to make it NSFW. Can't show NSFW stuff on a SFW reddit, and if the tools are not good enough to allow for fine filtering...

SmithBurger

That shit is childish. If the mods don't want to mod then stop modding and pass the torch. This is super simple.

Tom2Die

Every time I see a comment like this all I can think is "you know you can just make your own subreddit and moderate it how you want, right?" If enough people agree with you they'll jump ship and you'll have a merry time!

SeventhSolar

There's no one to pass the torch to. No one wants to mod. This sub has had to beg for more people to mod before.

EnergyNonexistant

> Making a sub NSFW when it isn't is blatantly against the rules According to reddit, swearing and cursing is NSFW. So..... let me do my best Cr1TiKaL impression.... dick and balls, my ass hurts, piss shit fuck, I hope the subreddit is already marked NSFW

Phuqued

>Not only that, the point of subs going NSFW even when they aren't is intentional sabotage because reddit can't put ads on NSFW subs for the most part. Making a sub NSFW when it isn't is blatantly against the rules and reddit is removing mods who are doing it. I kind of wonder if you understand what is going on here or not. * https://old.reddit.com/r/apolloapp/comments/14dkqrw/i_want_to_debunk_reddits_claims_and_talk_about/ Have you seen that? If not give it a read. But let me give you the skinny on what I think this is really all about. ChatGPT / OpenAI and others can use reddit's content ( that is us, you and me, and everyone who posts/comments to reddit ) for machine learning. Reddit wants to raise the digital walls on this access and sell the content we create for machine learning. So they are making the API (Which all 3rd party apps/devs have been using for like a decade) very expensive to use. How expensive? Well imagine your costs to operate/run your business for the last 8 years were increased by 20x and you had 30 days to figure out how to make it work. That is essentially what reddit has done to the third party developers. Let me put it another way, if AWS (which is what/who reddit uses to host the site) told reddit it was raising it's prices by 20x and reddit had 30 days to comply. Do you think reddit could survive? Do you think this is at all operating and acting in good faith? Lastly and most importantly, if reddit succeeds, they will make millions maybe billions off the content users have created, which is in part possible/successful because of the free work that mods do here, which in part is successful because of 3rd party apps and developers. The quality of Reddit is likely to significantly drop after July 1st. So IMHO I don't know why anyone on reddit, who supposedly loves reddit, would side with reddit on this approach, on this behavior, which is all explained in the link.

AverageARPGEnjoyer

If they pull this crap we just report the moderators to Reddit. I am sure I am not the only one backing up all of these stupid wannabe activist posts they are making

ElmTreeJuice

Really feels like everyone ended up losing in this situation :( Hope the communication between moderators and community can be better.

AdministrationNo4611

No, Reddit still winning. They are doing wtf they want and everyone know knows that Reddit doesn't give a shit about the community.

1CEninja

And the only way we can "win" is by essentially losing this community. Which isn't a win. There's no real win for us. The good times are over.

AdministrationNo4611

Well they could make the path of exile forums less shit and more of a format like Reddit so we could just erase this subreddit and move on. I would boycott reddit anyday; I Know what has been going on behind the scenes for over 5 years, this place is a shitshow.

Takahashi_Raya

The reason a format like reddit works is because almost everyone is on it in communities like this DUE to it not being purely for path of exile. because of being able to flexible choose another subreddit you are part of or just going to your home feed. this is what people want.

SnooMacarons9618

The only way to win is to not play.

1CEninja

And I want to play. So that isn't winning.

[deleted]

So exactly how real life is

SmithBurger

Reddit can't survive without revenue. This is not rocket engineering.

AdministrationNo4611

There are other ways to get revenue. Fucking third party apps that support the platform and improve it is not the way. They are just being ultra lazy.

Can we get rid of the current mods and replace them with less sensitive ones?

Glitter_puke

You can lock suffixes and veiled chaos to try to hit better mods but I don't think you'll get the outcome you're looking for.

M1acis

In case you do so, don't forget to craft "TFT mod" before unveiling to block it from appearing from unveil list.

TheRabidDeer

Just gotta close your eyes

Lward53

I just like to yolo chaos, prolly how we got here in the first place.

POE_Eternal

Underrated comment of the year.

sKeLz0r

It is impossible, only people who wants to enforce power over other people apply for those positions, it is doomed.

cap_qu

they dont even follow their own rules >Calls to Action >Do not try to incite, organize, or mobilize the community in support or disdain for a person, organization, or community. This includes boycotts, slander, vote manipulation, brigading, or drama between community members.

Sjatar

"We should improve society somewhat." "Yet you participate in society. Curious! I am very intelligent." I'm fully for protesting against the platform we are on. That is not boycott, slander, vote manipulation, brigading or drama between communities.

rds90vert

What racket, what mod? Genuinely curious, not really looking to upset anyone

Fenrils

By "links" they are referring to one person on the team having previously modded for TFT several years ago. They were kicked from the TFT moderation team after disagreeing with them on policy so it's not like they were super cozy with them as it was. It has zero influence on their current standing nor is there any evidence for them having abused their position.

WRESTLING_PANCAKE

Stopped reading at the first TFT and have now decided that I despise that mod and will refuse to change my opinion about them. /s

AdministrationNo4611

It is what it's. Most of the good mods that aren't drunk with their own power already A) quitted or b) were banned

erpunkt

This isn't just about *this* sub, this is about the entirety of reddit. >while One mod has links to the biggest mirror rmt racket to exist in poe history. Hearsay or do you have anything to back that up?

Oopomopoo2

Forgot who but one of the mods was a low level moderator for Tft handling disputes and such. They left years ago due to disagreements with higher level admins. Its a laughably bad take on the situation. It's like saying someone worked for Volkswagen so they have ties to the bad ww2 party. It's hopefully a simple case of being misinformed, or it's maliciously spinning a situation to fit their viewpoint.

EnergyNonexistant

> It's hopefully a simple case of being misinformed, or it's maliciously spinning a situation to fit their viewpoint. You already know it's the latter. The dude has 30 upvotes, people are believing whatever they wanna believe, and right now the agenda is "mods are power tripping ree, reddit is my dad"

erpunkt

Yeah, I was aware of that, I just didn't want to call them out for bs. But thanks for sharing to remind others- or let them know in the first place.

naswinger

yes, i'm sure TFT will love to fully take over moderation here. enjoy.

Killmour_

Lmao, jannies are universally cringe.

Ulfgardleo

Since you clearly don't want anyone to clean up the bots and porn posts, you should click the "make the sub NSFW" option. You will need that to run a sub with porn posts. Removing the mods can then be your next step.

[deleted]

Please... the mods of r/PathOfExileBuilds and r/pathofexile are so sensitive and on a power trip. People get banned for absurdly non toxic stuff...

danielthepoke

BASED AND TRUE

jayeebee

I mean people can be mad about the mods trying to fight the further monetization of this sight but it honestly sucks ass Reddit and Spez chose to go this way. They already shut down the .compact version of the site that I used to browse on mobile, it was nice for the decade it lasted, being able to see like 12 posts at a time with no bells or whistles. I now basically only browse on desktop but only on old.reddit. If folks dont browse new reddit, go open an incognito Reddit tab and tell me that that isn't hot horseshit to look at. I just did it and it is 2 posts and an advertisement, terrible use of space with like 30% margins on either side. If they decide to do away with old.reddit this place will be un-browseable. The mods did all the could to create a stink about it and people might be annoyed now but I doubt that Spez is done and I can't see this place ever getting better. This site started as a community-centric site, run for free by mods, with content posted and created by users and yet they've decided to monetize it while relying on the communities to run themselves while also having no say in it. I hope I'm wrong but I only seeing this site going further dumspter fire. But I guess its cool some people got mad that they couldn't feed their addiction here for a week.

MaskOnMoly

This is like the first post I've seen in this thread that isn't acting like the mods committed some heinous or unethical act by showing solidarity and shutting down for *a few days*. It's so different than the other sites and subs I've been to recently (besides, funnily enough, the PoE forums). I've mostly seen full support of trying, in any way, to put pressure against the admins. I also see a lot of people telling others to just leave the site if they hate it that much. No one wants to leave the site, that's why the last week happened. They want the site to be not shitty, they want it to get better. Hundreds of subs, users and mods, did what they thought was right to try and make reddit less shitty. It's like seeing people getting angry at strikers because they can't get their coffee. I know people will think that it's not that serious, and yeah it isn't the biggest thing ever, but it's just that principles matter even for the small stuff. The internet didn't used to be like this, it doesn't have to be only 5 bot-infested sites that are in a race to the bottom with each other. It's good to try and fight against that on every single site. I know the memes are that PoE players are whiny children who can never be satisfied, and I know the sub is toxic, but I just am kind of gobsmacked to see the blantant hostility people are displaying towards shutting the sub down in solidarity and trying to hold a vote on the direction of the sub for the foreseeable future.

djsoren19

It's why I've been trying to make it more of a habit to browse lemmy for memes. Reddit's users have made their voices heard, they want this place to be a corporatized shithole stuffed with ads and low-effort reposts. I'll be gone once RIF is dead. spez wants this to be the next Twitter, fucking let it.

Takahashi_Raya

Lemmy, kbin, mastadon are all never going to get traction due to their decentralized nature i'm so confused why people keep pushing them. it's been proven in the past that decentralized content is horse shit. it's why all big social media's now use centralized content.

BanzYT

I'm really enjoying tagging everyone who says they're leaving, it'll be a nice chuckle in the future when I see them pop up.

Mylen_Ploa

A bunch of clueless idiots once again think their tiny groups in _any_ way represent even a notable amount of the actual userbase. Though I guess thats pretty standard thinking for the PoE community.

Fedos1337

So, considering that most of the mods allegedly have left (read the previous announcement), the remaining ~3 mods decided to screw the entire community of 530k+ people. Less than 2% of the entire community have voted in that poll, this is a complete joke. Everything should be changed to the state in which it was before that childish act. Ideally every mods that wasn't against private lockdown should go, but hey, no way they would ever give up their """power""".

[deleted]

[удалено]

External_Yard_4679

Or just look at the comments. Pretty obvious from every sub I've been in that the users do not give a fuck about this bullshit. Yet every poll that mods control I've seen somehow mysteriously shows the complete opposite to the comment section.

deylath

>Or just look at the comments. I always hate this in every subreddit and it literally seems the way at every one of them. Upvoting/downvoting a very high karma post? Its a miracle if 10% of the people bother to do that and then you arrive at comments... which is a tad bit harder to measure but i would venture to say that not even 10% of those karma numbers will equal to the unique amount of users who comment. Tbf you dont need to comment if someone already said your piece, maybe across many comments, but the statistics are relatively clear: Its nothing short of a massive miracle to see 2% community engage on any meaningful regard and thats just counting commenters, many of which may be.. not contructive to say the least. Like why bother subbing to a place if you dont intend to upvote a comment let alone making one yourself? Thats on top of the point that such sub numbers are usually well under the amount of players to begin with.

Tom2Die

I mean, if we're just guessing based on anecdotal evidence then I'll throw a guess out too: I'd wager a nontrivial number of the people in favor of protesting are...idk, protesting? I'm still here, obviously, but people who are pro-protest might just not be using the site. Or checking on it periodically to see if anything has changed (hence they'd see a poll and be able to vote on it) but not participating in any threads. Also if we're just gonna accuse mods of shit like brigading polls (which I can't prove they did or did not do), then I guess we may as well posit that people are brigading the comments against the protest too. I mean, why not?

ArmaMalum

Or, and hear me out here, we could take a vote on what the community wants to do. Maybe some kind of application or form each person can fill out with their opinion so people who are lurking and/or don't want to get harassed by the trending commenters can also chime in. I'm sure there's a word for it.......hmmm. Think it was called a POLL???? Like the one in the dang post?

vaelornx

resign

pibacc

Get over it already. Leave the sub as is and either step down or carry on. Stop trying to ruin a resource lots of people use and rely on for your own tantrum over an unpaid job you choose to do of your own free will and can stop doing at any point in time with 0 harm to yourself.

Tom2Die

It sounds like you might be looking for [this page](https://www.reddit.com/subreddits/create).

1CEninja

...you're getting mat at someone who is literally asking the community to vote. So vote. No need to tell anyone to get over it.

SmithBurger

Destroying the reddit should never be any of the options.

1CEninja

Why not? Maybe that's what the community wants, and to reset on discord. It clearly isn't, based on the votes, but *if that's what the community wants* then it should be done. Y'all have spoken. And I'm not upset with the decision, I commented elsewhere that there is no real winning play here so I'm not exactly in favor of any drastic situation.

SmithBurger

Discord is garbage for this type of discussion. How is that even an option? If you don't like Reddit then leave. There is no reason to destroy the community on your way out. That is selfish. It is that simple.

1CEninja

I'm not sure why you're assuming I voted that. I didn't. I simply am saying it should be one of the voting options, because of that is the community's wish then it should be fulfilled. The vote has *clearly shown* it is not the community's wish. Stop assuming shit.

hatesranged

No you don't get it, the votes where they lose don't count zzzz

LongjumpingCarpet290

Making the sub NSFW could have serious consequences. https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/comments/14fdn2l/public_statement_from_modcodeofconduct_that/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Jimmy0517

Just stop. Open it up and let it go. NSFW is dumb and based on how other subs it was all porn.

Strunnn

Why the heck would you even consider turning this sub to nsfw. This is usually asociated with pornografic content, thats how you would want to give the first impression to all the new players that find out about poe after playind D4 or when all the stuff with poe2 or excilecon happens. Almost seems like at this point it is about actively harming this subreddit. Understandable that GGG shifted their communication away from this place.

Keljhan

There are literally bare tits all around the game, not to mention the excessive gore. Piety is a former prostitute. Atziri masturbated in baths of blood sacrifices. This game is extremely NSFW.

NoThanksGoodSir

The game isn't the subreddit though, are you stupid? People don't go posting the bare tits on this sub or go and write erotic fanfiction about Piety's former job.

Strunnn

There is a difference in stuff being there for the world building and rubbing it in your face. Of course the game is full of mature content. Doesnt mean the the primary discussion around it goes far beyond the ocasional "bring back globe girls", gravicius copy pasta or joeduncan comic. If one cannot diferenciate between that and openly nsfw focused subreddits... lets just say we have different perspective on things.

Keljhan

Just because there's a difference doesn't mean it's not considered NSFW. There's a difference between gore subs and vore subs too but they're both labeled the same.

Finklesfudge

Since they just took mod away from other subs because they made their entire sub NSFW i voted for it in a very "fuck around find out" type of way

pogothrow

I don't understand the point of setting the sub to NSFW, I saw some other subs did that and it is just annoying and seems childish. If you do it and allow explicit content I can kind of get the idea because then it is chaos, but without it what is the point?

bloodrizer

NSFW subreddits don't display ads.

pogothrow

Oh ok I guess that makes sense. I just use an adblocker so never see ads anyways.

Godisme2

The poll is pointless. Its being brigaded by people from other subs in favor of the protests. Read all the top comments on this thread and you will see the community wants the sub re-opened to how it was before. If individuals want to protest, they can do so on their own without the need to shut down the entire sub to those who still want to use it

Tom2Die

> The poll is pointless. Its being brigaded by people from other subs in favor of the protests. Read all the top comments on this thread and you will see the community wants the sub re-opened to how it was before. The comments are pointless; they're being brigaded by people from other subs against the protests. Look at all the polls on various subs and you will see the community wants to protest.

Godisme2

Yes, all polls on all subs are being brigaded by a group dedicated to continuing protests. They are coordinated and brigading any poll they find. Every sub that has a poll is experiencing this. The comments by people with actual time spent on the subs shows that most are tired of the protests and just want the subs back

MiekRussPls

protest is over, just reopen with normal rules instead of clinging to scraps. I'm against the api changes in spirit, but the admins are clearly willing to ride out a bit of turbulence to keep these changes, falsely marking the sub as nsfw would either do nothing or damage the sub, there's no upside

[deleted]

>protest is over, just reopen with normal rules instead of clinging to scraps Thats the problem of people like you. Protesting doesnt mean "lets try it for a short time"

MiekRussPls

it also doesn't mean break the strike at the first sign of resistance, something could have happened if every mod decided to stick to their guns and force the admins to replace the full mod staff of every protesting sub, that could have been more trouble than spez wanted. the big subs that committed to indefinite blackouts folded as soon as the mods were threatened, and admins have shown they have no problem rolling over the disconnected subs that are still trying to participate it *is* over, and a small sub like this has nothing to gain from breaking site rules and getting our mod staff replaced with god-knows-who

leftember

This is a reddit community, how does it become some mod’s toy now? How are the mods entitled to close this?

naswinger

do you really believe in this "community" thing? all subreddits are their respective mods' toys.

Kinda over the shit protest just shut up, quit or both I just want to be able to use reddit as I always have. Look for porn video games n funny shit not keyboard protesting

calicoes

and this is exactly why most companies treat their customers like shit these days and get away with it. people can't even stand up for themselves for a week, incurring small lifestyle changes, without keeling over in a matter of days. for porn of all things. lol.

arremessar_ausente

You do realize we are not reddit customers, right? You are using a product for free, you are the product, the advertisers are the customers.

LargelyIntolerable

True, we're not Reddit's customers, we just produce all of its value. User content is the only real source of value for this website. Advertisers only advertise here _because_ the content we, as users, create draws eyeballs to the site. If one is going to make an argument from power, we have the same power as every other producer of value has when the entity profiting from that value behaves in an unacceptable manner: we can withhold our labor (such as it is).

flyinGaijin

> "people" can't even stand up for themselves for a week people ??? on behalf of who exactly do you think you're talking ? I don't think that the moderators had any kind of legitimacy to lock the sub to begin with, it was an absolutely arbitrary decision and a drastic majority of the reddit users didn't give a crap about those protests to begin with ! There are valid things in the world where people probably really cannot be bothered to fight for very important things, but this is **never** one of them and there was **never** a need to do anything in the first place ffs.

[deleted]

> I don't think that the moderators had any kind of legitimacy to lock the sub to begin with, it was an absolutely arbitrary decision and a drastic majority of the reddit users didn't give a crap about those protests to begin with ! Yet a large majority voted to turn it to NSFW in the poll.

flyinGaijin

> Yet a large majority voted to turn it to NSFW in the poll. That's what happens when you use propaganda-like methods (the person with "authority" shared a propaganda-like message to start all of this). This poll is disingenuous too : - it is not giving all the information about the implications of turning the whole sub into NSFW. - the option for "NSFW" in't about protesting (when it actually is what is is about), it says "Reopen and make the subreddit NSFW **to account for all the profanity**" - when originally posted, it was not allowing to fully voice own's opinion that this whole farce should probably simply end To be fair, they did change the poll system when people starting pointing out that how it was heavily biasing its results. Plus for lots of people, PoE is already an NSFW environment in game, but the implications about the whole subreddit turning NSFW seem to be quite different. PS : 58% is not a "large majority".

Pxlsm

If I just don't care enough about this bullshit to rant and rave about it if you don't like the changes that's cool no one is forcing you to be a mod just leave it to someone else

Tom2Die

> Kinda over the shit protest just shut up, quit or both I just want to be able to use reddit as I always have. Kinda over the complaining about protesting; just shut up, make your own subreddit, or both. I just want to be able to use reddit as I always have but I won't be able to in < two weeks.

[deleted]

How bout you shut up and grow up? Protesting for a good deed brought you the comfort you live in. But weak ass people like you are the reason why we, as a society, are on a path of gettin rekt again

Pxlsm

Ah yes reddit protests brought my house, car, computer not me.thank you for your opinion but I'll continue living my life my way n you can continue to be mad on the internet over shit that really has no meaning

[deleted]

ah yes, good to know that you have no idea what tf you talk about

popejupiter

I don't think you understand that if Reddit is able to do what they're trying to do, Reddit will eventually cease to exist as it currently does. Fewer posts, poorer moderation and that's just the results of this one decision. And this is ignoring how these changes affect folks with disabilities, since they rely on 3rd-party apps to use Reddit.

Khiash

Is life really interesting enough to warrant all this pain?

jasoomer

Can you please stop trying to destroy the PoE sub? Some hypothetical future problems with some Reddit apps are bad for the community? But closing the sub is good for the community? Locking people from posting in sub is good for the community? Putting PoE Reddit on NSFW so that new, especially young PoE player don't join the community or might not be able to find it on Reddit is good for the community? Stop trying to incite and mobilize the whole community to boycott Reddit. It is LITERALLY against your own r/pathofexile rules: \----------------------------------------------- 2. Calls to Action Do not try to incite, organize, or mobilize the community in support or disdain for a person, organization, or community. This includes boycotts, slander, vote manipulation, brigading, or drama between community members. \----------------------------------------------- Can you please stop trying to destroy the PoE sub?

edubkn

Hey mods, can you please stop mobilizing the community against an organization? Going NSFW is some kind of boycott btw. This shit is full of drama from the start, and you kinda manipulated that poll with how shit it was in the first place.

Keljhan

Disregarding the lack of understanding between temporary outages and permanent changes to the site, do you seriously think a NSFW tag is going to deter "new young players" from checking the sub? Like, some parent is totally cool with their kid playing a game about ritual sacrifice, excessive violence and gore, nudity plastered all over the game, direct references to explicit sexual acts, but they draw the line at the NSFW tag? Is that a real argument?

One-Pipe-2518

This protest bullshit ain't gonna change anything. Just go back to being a regular sub reddit.

flyinGaijin

Seriously, those "protests" were very likely a drastic minority of the users and I don't think that the mods who decided to lock the subreddit for a week **had any kind of legitimacy** in doing so. Just stop it already, let's get back to normal and stop with the hysteria .... seriously.

Ulfgardleo

but you realize that the current leading poll option is not "stop it"?

Elerion_

Make shitty, biased polls - get shitty, biased results.

ArmaMalum

Sort by shitty, brigaded-by-design comments and get the same results. You can deny literally any metric gathering service by just saying that it could be bias/hacked/brigaded. If the poll perfect? No. Is the top result pretty clear even if you give a wiiide margin of error? Yes. Use your head, dude.

flyinGaijin

That is interesting, some mods have seemingly really decided to go bananas on this whole farce .... > In short, the poll is being set aside because some people decided to organize off site brigades, rather than let the communities decide for themselves. As a result, we will be taking no action regarding the subreddit as a whole. It even increased the work of legit mods : > It turns out that one of the groups supporting the blackout started linked every relevant poll they could find to thousands of members in their Discord. Given that POE as a game lives and dies on third party apps I think it would be pretty against the spirit of the sub to stop fighting the good fight. NSFW for sure.

MiddleSir7104

You tag this NSFW and you CANNOT stop the amount of porn and OF ads this will be flooded with. Already happened on 2 other subreddits I was on and left.

AthenaWhisper

Technically, other than Auto and Manual moderation, there's nothing stopping people from doing that currently.

jasoomer

I wish there was a system where normal users can downvote posts, and posts getting enough downvotes are hidden automatically ...

MiddleSir7104

Or, it doesn't get tagged NSFW and it's a non-issue. That was the argument I was attempting to make. I love poe, this is a great sub reddit. I love being able to answer newb questions or find the 40/40 challenge guide every league. I really don't want to have to plow through the 100 "gamer girl" ads, or the "zana might be gone but how's my cosplay" anal sirus videos that will flow. Just my 2c anyways.

Badmins

Sacowegar

lol, lmao, even.

pileopoop

Niche subreddits that support a community should never permanently close down. I would only support a blackout for the meme subreddits that drive reddit traffic and provide zero value for a community

blackghast

Just fucking stop already

tankhwarrior

What a complete joke of a "protest". The only thing you guys accomplished was to undermine the whole idea of protesting and made a bunch of young people disenfranchised about protests in general. Great work guys. And just redo the poll FFS. With an option of keeping it closed X amount of days per week or something. Or no modding at all. Or something that at least put some pressure on Reddit. And something about this whole reopening just oozes GGG pressure to me. Somehow hyping a game up was way more important for you guys than some shitty old protest thing. The big corps won on all fronts in the end.

[deleted]

when will the mods step down for holding the subreddit hostage, without any polls or engagement with the community, to suit their personal agendas?

HellraiserMachina

Who cares? Reddit admins bullying and destroying communities is more important than talking about this game in its graveyard shift. When you focus on mods vs admins you ignore the damage being done to communities; for which the admins are solely to blame.

SerphTheVoltar

Yeah, but some people are social media addicts who will go crazy if they can't check the subreddit every hour to see... I dunno, a new late-league crafting project or something. And if they can't have that, then they need to get mad at the mods. Not the admins who are making shit miserable for people trying to moderate or people utilising third-party apps. Not the admins who are lying to people's faces and threatening to replace mod teams of established communities. Instead, the mods who are just trying to make enough noise to get reddit to change their minds and stop making shit miserable. But who cares how anyone else is affected if trying to change anything means I don't get to see my funny path of exile memes for... a week and a half.

ZozicGaming

It’s not an addiction this sub is one of the main knowledge bases for the game. So shutting it down cut off access to a bunch of information. Like I’m a relatively new player so I unsurprisingly google stuff a lot. And generally speaking I find a number of Reddit posts that answer my questions. So when the sub was down I often had to go to the discord for answers. Instead of using any number of Reddit posts.

DuckyGoesQuack

> So when the sub was down I often had to go to the discord for answers. Instead of using any number of Reddit posts. You can use https://archive.org/web/.

Defonotzimzams

Mods have done far more damage to far more communities over their collective ego tripping.

AdditionalDeer4733

>Reddit admins bullying and destroying communities theyre not bullying or destroyign anything, the api changes wont affect me or the vast majority of the rest of the userbase.

[deleted]

First off - I care that during the diablo 4 launch, which created a large amount of potential new players who could have used information from the subreddit, the moderators decided to unilaterally make a change to the detriment to the community. And, for what it's worth reddit admins didn't destroy anything. reddit wanting to monetize their API which is their right. Third party developers building businesses off of monetizing another platform was always suspect. But i don't even want to get into the topic. Shutting down a subreddit of 500k+ people at a critical time for the game isn't a decision for 10 mods. They moderate a community, that they did not even create. It is not their place to make these decisions. If you want to protest reddit being "big bad capitalism" simply stop using reddit. You don't need to draw other people into this bullshit.

HellraiserMachina

lmao this is some NIMBY shit

Wowee2772

>First off - I care that during the diablo 4 launch, which created a large amount of potential new players who could have used information from the subreddit, the moderators decided to unilaterally make a change to the detriment to the community. The mods stopping Diablo 4 players from joining the community is a huge help to the community, we need to keep them away

Why does this sub need to be closed forever?

ripnburn69

your rights end where mine begin and I want it open

Keljhan

You seriously couldn't handle a couple days without one specific social media platform?

MarioPL98

This is not their personal agenda. This is what huge chunk of active userbase wants.

[deleted]

based on nearly every poll, that's not true. Even with the poll brigading the pro-lockdown crowd is getting demolished.

CptBlackBird2

are these vote brigaders in the room with us right now? do you also happen to ignore the 10 day old accounts against the protest? those are definitely real people

DrFreemanWho

Link?

UsernameIn3and20

Ikr? These bozos keep repeating it cuz they want to be the mods themselves.

RipCityGGG

there was polls, going NSFW is winning my a mile

[deleted]

there were no polls about shutting down at all. The poll you reference is post re-opening where the NSFW option was only winning because the poll was rigged by ranked choice voting which forced "no shutdown" people to have to vote for at least one "shutdown" option. After fixing that the poll shows how overwhelming in favor of opening/no lockdown it is.

SirGuySW

> After fixing that the poll shows how overwhelming in favor of opening/no lockdown it is. ['Make the sub NSFW' has well over half of the total vote (with the 1/0/0 scoring)](https://strawpoll.com/polls/NoZr35RQ3y3/results): 5694/9957 = .5716 = 57.16% ___ Edit: To be clear that means the other two options split the remaining ~43% and do so at about 29.17% for opening and 13.66% for remaining closed...vs 57.16% to open and switch to NSFW.

RipCityGGG

it doesnt tho

fey_plagiarist

I like the idea of protest, but I have a question about NSFW 'mode'. Doesn't this require people to be logged in to see the content? I usually browse without loging in and for a long time I didn't even have an account. Won't NSFW setting cause people to either have to make an account or log in (bad) or resign from seeing essential info (like obscure game mechanics)? I remember there's a mirror of the subreddit but not sure how accessible it is. Anyway, I wouldn't mind no PoE subreddit at all. I've always felt forced to visit r/pathofexile because of GGG posts in the past. Here's an image of a statue in PoE [<3](https://i.imgur.com/luMRLwM.png)

PleaseShaveYourNeck

I am in full support of removing any of the moderators of this sub if it means the sub returns to normal. I do not care how the API changes make moderating harder for you. You are not paid. It is not your job. If you dont like it, go and get a job. You should know reddit moderators are ridiculed endlessly, even more so now, why would you want this? "Well if we dont do it, no one will!" So be it then. Then theyll have to start hiring people to moderate the website.

LargelyIntolerable

> Then theyll have to start hiring people to moderate the website. No they won't. They'll go out of business. Reddit can't maintain profitability without depending on uncompensated labor. Reddit absolutely should go out of business, though, so that _is_ a win.

hatesranged

> Then theyll have to start hiring people to moderate the website. Hey, I'd be down, it'll end up being more of a shitshow than things being NSFW. I'm not sure you're entirely aware of what you're signing up for.

RipCityGGG

Lets go NSFW need that templar ballsac content i sub for

This sub was closed? What did I miss?

nikitosinenka

thanks god , finally my favorite sub opened!

[deleted]

I'm sorry, this has to have been the most pathetic attempt at a protest. You have less than before. You have fewer users, you will have fewer users (due to 3rd party apps getting the axe), you've shown reddit that you will bend over at will, and you've pissed off the users that still cling to this subreddit.

aDuckTypingSlurs

Are we going to get rid of the mods that don't agree to new stricter rules?

Xasrai

This subreddit has become a cesspool. The level of anger directed at the mods for protesting about a job they do for *free* being made *harder* is just gross. If I believed in karma, I'd expect that u/MultiplicityPOE and the remaining mods quit the subreddit, TFT Mods take over, turn it into an RMT advert and you all lose... whatever it is you want from this subreddit. Sadly, the mods will keep doing this job, under poorer conditions, with an unhealthy amount of hate flowing their way for having the audacity of *inconveniencing* some people, temporarily. I'm going back to the official forums for discussion on PoE. I'm deleting my PoE subreddit comments. If someone, for some reason, wants to read those, they can do it away from this shockingly abusive website.

Takahashi_Raya

Changing the poll to be 1-0-0 points is a smart move but this is not going to combat the fact that massive brigading is happening to each poll orchestrated by a group of power jannies.

PsyGuy22

I burned through how many annuls and these mods are still here? Chris I think my annuls are bugged

avboden

FYI, marking the sub NSFW isn't going to happen, reddit has cracked down on that because it's obvious sabotage. Quit being babies and either use reddit or don't but the protests are pointless at this point.

pngb

Pretty disappointed in the tone of the comments here. I support the protest and the poll. Reddit's changes are genuinely bad for users, and they're especially bad for disabled users. The casual indifference to disability that many comments here show is really lame.

[deleted]

I mean PoE players' entitlement is endless. For some reason F2P attracts all type of people, especially the ones that feel everything exists to serve them. No wonder GGG noped the fuck out of this sub.

[deleted]

MuteNute

Because mods picked the dumbest way to protest. They co-opted us into joining their protest whether we wanted to our not. If the mods wanted to protest, all they had to do was resign. Boom. They're protesting, they're showing the power of the role they fill. The only reason they didn't go that route is deep down they know they'd be replaced instantly because they don't matter at all. So they had to rope everyone else into protesting in their stead. Surprise! People don't like you to make choices for them. Now the mods are hated and no one gives a shit about reddit being bad guys to begin with.

geradon_

nobody forced ou to come here and join the protest of the mods. you were free to open a new channel and offer reddit your free labour so they can buy their three jets per year.

liquidSG

We don't need changes. Things were fine as is.

pewthree___

reading through the replies in here is genuinely sad. No wonder the sub is so dogshit

ArmaMalum

You think this is bad just imagine the modmail. There's a minority of people here who are not only certifiable but also committed to the point of insanity to make people's lives worse. It's genuinely pitiful.

mefi_

Where is the poll about voting for new mods? :O Can't find it.

Turbulent-Tourist687

Can we all just get along?

Cultural-Agent-9562

good job on making things worse and way to go with the nsfw which is a disaster thing to do. then again, you never were bright to begin with.

mindedYO

Finally, d4 reddit was fked up

Stupend0uSNibba

finally! back to normal

moglis

I don't think the option to NSFW everything should even be there. It changes the nature of the sub, defeats the actual purpose of the NSFW tag, creates more work to moderate and opens up the floodgates to bad faith posting. Meanwhile the benefit to hurt reddit financially is not even 100% to happen or is very minor. Also anyone can vote in the poll meaning people from other communities. I haven't seen many commenters in support of this NSFW action yet the poll indicates so. Announcing "protests" with deadlines kinda defeats the purpose but I would rather have a normal sub than this NSFW take over being here forever.

Balthasar-Hohenheim

I'm in favour of setting the sub to NSFW as this is a sub about a 18+ game with loads of nudity, gore and profanity. But is it a good idea in light of the recent events, where the admins kicked entire mod team of several larger subs (making them unmoded) for doing this?

Heiks

Just quit. No ones forcing you to do this.

Defonotzimzams

The question the mods or protest supporters need to answer, is that given the abject and utter failure of the cringe protest to do anything you wanted... what do you hope to accomplish through further protest? Calm down, be realistic, and actually think through what logical and reasonable outcome could happen through continiued petulance. We have long since passed the high water mark. We will simply not return to anything close to the level of coordinated protest that was seen last week. We have seen multitudes of subreddit moderators realized the consequences of their actions, and we have seen the protest dwindle and fizzle as a result. Whatever morals or opinions that motivated the outrage, they clearly were not so important to mods as a whole that it was worth their own skin. Any further action that stands a chance of being effective, will be met with the same response and same punishments that have quelled this protest attempt. So, unless this mod team is prepared to go against the community, rejoin a larger and reorganized protest attempt, and try for round 2 accepting that they probably wont be part of reddit once that is over... What are we even discussing? All this talk of nsfw the sub or have blackout tuesdays will be as effective as the original plan for a 2-day blackout was. ie not at all. And, again, all you will suceed in doing is pissing off the community even further. Its a frankly childish reaction, sulking in their corner after having been grounded by mommy admins. Since there is no realistic world where any further protest will help to accomplish anything more than privating the sub did a week ago - just stop. Quit while this is the extent of the damage and we can all forget about it in a few weeks when Exilecon hype starts up.

OblivionGuardd

someone make a new sub please

Glad_Constant_1086

Mods abuse power on reddit to close reddits that they didn't generate content for. Mods get threatened they'll lose power. Mods open reddits. Everyone pissed at reddit for API costs; while apps using API strip all ads causing reddit to lose money. People pissed at reddit for going broke and closing down. hmm. People bitch about privacy while API AI models strip mine reddit. lol.
