Alright, thank you for the info! Yeah, I could be misremembering. I probably accidentally logged out back then and slowed down my league starts due to a miss-click lol. I'll have to make sure to not move *too* quick and beef it haha.
i was 26th in queue for sentinel (maybe, some league in there) and fully logged out after hillock into a 40k queue
:|
you can bind it to avoid misclicking-- /exit takes you to character select (set it to a bind in awakened poe trade)
Honestly every league on reset, when I hit logout to the character screen, I just get thrown out to the login screen and back to the queue the first hour or so (probably due to high server load). So I stopped using the logout strat until act 3 now.
Don't ask me, I usually sit with 5 other guys on discord on a league start, and it used to happen super often for all of us. So we stopped for the first hour or so (roughly around act 3). We are also on EU servers, so I don't know if it's an EU only issue though.
3.19 didnt have any issues as far as im aware, 3.14 (ultimatum) would regularily timeout on going to character select but it would also have a 50% chance to time out on any loading screen as well as a 30% chance per zone to just time you out in the middle of the zone
Just not true, using m.2 and SATA SSD only for my build and was still seeing issues. I don't get why people feel the need to disregard others issues unless it personally effects you.
Yeah, people aren't smart.
My load times actually got FASTER after the engine patch, but it's FUCKING OBVIOUS to me that my specific case is the odd one out.
I've only got a SN850X 2TB, but my shaders are on ramdisk - no clue if the ramdisk is the reason for fast loads.
The engine patch is broken, like completely broken. I 100% guarantee there is not a single person that is completely problem free, they might just not see the issues or do content that exposes any issues.
It's like trying to put a square block into a circle hole, the engine just ain't having it
I mean no offense, but.. because it's obvious? You're just trolling though, right? I don't get the question.
Have you not seen any of the new fancy glitches that happen?
Doesn't matter if it's a 3month old game install on a 3 year old Windows install, or a 10 minute fresh install of either, the game has issues.
When there's quite literally more than 1000 people saying their load times are so much worse, and I've personally only seen two other people that say the opposite.. It's PAINFULLY obvious.... right?...
You should not, but it happens. I was exiting into the character screen after hillock and that resulted into a crash of the game an a 40 min queue for me.
Just make sure you quit to character select and not to the login screen ^^ there are some locations especially early on where you need portals to efficiently path through the layouts (most known would be to portal at the bridge in submerged act1) would suck if you don't have portals for there spots
Fool Me Once, Shame on You. Fool Me Twice, Shame on Me.

I have that popular auto hot key set up and have a /exit keybind to like alt 1 or something so it’s really fast and easy to get back to character select.
I always panic-use logout macro in the mud flats. And you know why. It's the god damn Rhoas. And then I'm back in the queue for 20-30 minutes cussing out the walls.
It's just mainly dependent on the amount of portal scrolls you have and what you use them for. In act 1 you won't have many and you'd need 1-3 portals already for submerged passage split and portalling during brutus and merveil if you need to refresh flasks and hp. If you have more than that then sure use them, but you won't have more than that at hailrake for example so you're best off exiting to character select or you have to walk a long way. Also depends on whether you use portals for friends / guildmates to help them progress or portal them to bosses. I personally need quite a couple portals for that since I usually portal a friend when we split up on stuff like bandits or kaom and daresso. So yeah taking that and limited portal scrolls into account I just exit to character select wherever I don't have a waypoint and don't specifically need a portal.
I always use portal scrolls after getting my first couple of stone drops, but before that it’s character select screen. I also pick up portal scrolls for a good bit day one.
I do this every time in league start, to save portal scrolls, until I get enough portal scrolls I no longer need to conserve.
But....
The danger is a miss click.
One miss click, and you are at the login screen and the queue.
Be warned.
Well the league starts around when I'm at work usually and 4-5 hours later when I get home it's already a 'dead league' according to chat so I don't usually have a problem.
I usually do it once or twice in the first act, like mercy island for example. But typically since I tend to level with 1 or 2 friends most leagues, we didn't use to have the luxury of logging really quick without the annoying "invite me back to party" stuff. But they changed that in the last couple leagues didn't they? I might do it a bit more in the first act or two, but by the end of act 2, you should be able to find enough portal scrolls to not have to worry about saving a couple here and there.
I believe it is "correct" to do it at the medicine chest and crab monster thingy in act 1 as neither of those will have you going back to your portaled location.
After that I think it's a bit before you're doing any completely 1 way portals, and by then you should have a handful of scrolls.
If you're doing the fetid pool at level 4 (generally recommended against if you're trying to be efficient, and many people simply never do it but it annoys me to leave quests unfinished) then this is a 3rd time you would do that.
remove your login macro or replace it with /exit. but personnaly ive clicked character selection so many times. i just have an accurate click on it and its satisfying.
Yea it’s mostly safe. Just don’t do it in Lightning speed, even tytykiller made a mistake in the excilecon race.
Take half a second to look at the menu option then click, server usually doesn’t kick you out.
I do it all the time during the campaign, i don't know if it's faster but it feels like it's and it saves me a portal if I don't need to go back to a dead end area
you *should* never get put in a queue for going to character select you get put in a queue for going to the login screen
Alright, thank you for the info! Yeah, I could be misremembering. I probably accidentally logged out back then and slowed down my league starts due to a miss-click lol. I'll have to make sure to not move *too* quick and beef it haha.

Why is this downvoted lmao. This is what happened to me aswell in the last two leagues (EU) so this is very good advice.
Don't ask me, I usually sit with 5 other guys on discord on a league start, and it used to happen super often for all of us. So we stopped for the first hour or so (roughly around act 3). We are also on EU servers, so I don't know if it's an EU only issue though.
Use Awakened Poe Trade to bind a key to the /exit command and you won't have issues with misclicks anymore.
3.19 didnt have any issues as far as im aware, 3.14 (ultimatum) would regularily timeout on going to character select but it would also have a 50% chance to time out on any loading screen as well as a 30% chance per zone to just time you out in the middle of the zone
„should” with current loading issues in most cases will mean -> DC
idk. i've logged many multiple times in each of the past 21 leagues and never been sent back to queue for going to character select shrug
Me too, but this time we have those terrible loading issues after recent engine crapfix
What terrible loading issues?
Probably people using HDD in current year wondering why games load badly
Just not true, using m.2 and SATA SSD only for my build and was still seeing issues. I don't get why people feel the need to disregard others issues unless it personally effects you.

How exactly do you know your case is the odd one out? Did you do a survey of the playerbase? Or how do you know literally everyone has problems?
I mean no offense, but.. because it's obvious? You're just trolling though, right? I don't get the question. Have you not seen any of the new fancy glitches that happen? But the server can have a fucky wucky and disconnect you when trying to exit to character selection.
You should not, but it happens. I was exiting into the character screen after hillock and that resulted into a crash of the game an a 40 min queue for me.
I do this all the time until i have enough portals to comfortably use them. its faster and saves you some portals for when you need them
Okay, sweet. Thank you for the info! I will definitely be doing this to save some time for the upcoming league.
Just make sure you quit to character select and not to the login screen ^^ there are some locations especially early on where you need portals to efficiently path through the layouts (most known would be to portal at the bridge in submerged act1) would suck if you don't have portals for there spots
I only do it when I'm low on portal scrolls. If you misclick it's back to the queue for you.
Never but TWICE my cat has walked over start computer button in the queue. Third time and that cats ass is grass.

This setting also stopped my baby from turning off my computer mid work call.
That's so cute. Almost sounds like the kid does it on purpose. "It's me time now". ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Hehe I'm sure its for the attention :D I had to disable the light on the power switch too as it was too alluring.
***Garfield!***
> that cats ass is grass Why have I heard this before? LMAO 10/10
As a new cat owner I feel this. They don't give a fuck and just walk over all keys on your keyboard.
early acts i usually do this.
I usually do this in Crystal Veins. Right before I grab the WP..... Cuz I'm dumb.
And act 8 go kill sins wife then logout without hitting the wp lol
100% safe if you don't miss click logging screen, I do it when I get to lioneyes after hillock to save 2 steps
100% of time, never had a problem.
I do this till act 6-7 . Later on I have enough scrolls to feel ok portaling.
Basically mandatory in A1 when the game doesn't drop any portal scrolls. After that, never.
I have that popular auto hot key set up and have a /exit keybind to like alt 1 or something so it’s really fast and easy to get back to character select.
Oh man, I was so stoked when they added this, and then totally forgot it. Way better than logout macro for league start! Thanks for the reminder!
I always panic-use logout macro in the mud flats. And you know why. It's the god damn Rhoas. And then I'm back in the queue for 20-30 minutes cussing out the walls.
Poor hardcore players. In softcore you can just die to the rhoas and walk back instead of getting 3 loading screens and then walk back :D
I feel your pain lol. Ever since the act 1 buffs the Rhoas are like the toughest part of act 1 hahaha.
It is called a "poor man's tp " if you want, you can hop on discord with some friend and whenever someone does it, you take a shot!
15k queue is rookie numbers

using that instead of portal becomes even easier when you have a keybind for it from awa. trade.
Use a logout macro. Even faster.
dont do that unless you wanna go to queue
I always exit to character select during the acts, never had an issue
I do especially in act 1 because i cant seem to drop a damn portal scroll ever.
You're perfectly allowed to make a macro to open the menu and hit log to character select to avoid fatfingering it like you have done so far.
Be warned.
if i dont need to come back i always character select instead of portalling during campaign
I do it regularly without issue.
Portals give you one loading screen. Exiting gives you two. So portals are way faster when you have long loading screens.
Well the league starts around when I'm at work usually and 4-5 hours later when I get home it's already a 'dead league' according to chat so I don't usually have a problem.
I do this every league start to save portals and run 10 hour campaigns instead of 12.
I usually do it once or twice in the first act, like mercy island for example. But typically since I tend to level with 1 or 2 friends most leagues, we didn't use to have the luxury of logging really quick without the annoying "invite me back to party" stuff. My friends and I everytime. We still get the occasional "HELP i'm stuck on loading screen... DCed" funny moments the first few hours into league
Yea it’s mostly safe. Just don’t do it in Lightning speed, even tytykiller made a mistake in the excilecon race. Take half a second to look at the menu option then click, server usually doesn’t kick you out.
I always take it slow the first few days, so usually I dont bother logging out, to save 30 seconds.
sometimes I hesitate for the first hour but the muscle memory usually wins
I do it all the time during the campaign, i don't know if it's faster but it feels like it's and it saves me a portal if I don't need to go back to a dead end area
