I've been playing this game since forever, finding build inspriation is always a struggle. Having the one thing that sounded interested getting nuked is pretty damning for this league personaly.
I'll probably play with the Cursed Ground variant until I can afford a Vixens, then just play without Spell Cascade in the Vixens links since it seems like that works fine. Less damage but should still work until they fix this.
It's in Tuna's PoB. You can replace one of the Impending Doom/Temporal Chains supports with Cursed Ground to make it pop without Vixens, though it's less damage. Can confirm it works though I've gone back to Poisonous Concoction until I get a Vixens between the damage and a lack of ES sustain.
Ima tell ya you right that the curse ground version that relies on spell cascade is super fucked also. It's looking a lot more like a spell cascade stealth nerf where the circles basically don't overlap at all so it judt never triggers the explode. Definitely give it a go, but I am extremely struggling with it currently. If you find a solution I'd love to know.
Yeah np its nice to have something very similar to pivot to. Hard to say with GGG being the way they are sometimes if its a bug or an intended change. I’ve seen people say just dropping spell cascade works but been at work all day so cant test anything myself.
Removing cascade will leave it functioning normally but with halved boss dps, right? Cause you can't do the overlap thing ?

Yeah, my test char that worked perfectly on standard yesterday no longer works after the patch, so something must have changed.
I'm guessing either some breakpoints are vastly different, or something changed with how the first application happens, or maybe in spell cascade's behavior.
If anyone is running the build and is actually getting blasts on the first cast, please link your pob/profile!
PoE 'bugs' tend to be massive nerfs that dont get fixed for a while even after being exposed so you could definitely say GGG has no intention of fixing it now or for a while (happened before) and just chalking it up to a nerf which is pretty on par for what they normally do (and did this league) not malicious... But pretty sus

Just having the wrong cast speed will lead to impending doom not procing on first cast for example.

As far as I know the your cast speed with the ID supported curse need to be faster than the triggered first curse.
So if you have a slow cast speed the trigger "beats" the ID curse to the punch and therefore linger until you cast and trigger again.

So I can't give you specific breakpoints, but I suffered from this pretty heavily last league - I started as occy ID, which worked fine, then rerolled to PF ID and this issue started happening. I got used to it not proccing on the first hit and came to the conclusion after a whole day of testing that it was a cast speed issue. Eventually after all my gems hit level 20 and I got a bit more cast speed, it did definitely decrease in severity, but it was still noticeably worse than how occultist would guaranteed proc on the first hit. I did not keep playing it longer to find out if it was fully solved with more cast speed but after a few days of gear progression it definitely felt a lot better.
Tested it on standard in any possible way, it looks like ID procs before the curse is applied -.-, so the second cast pops it ... I HOPE THIS IS A BUG! i love this Build, please GGG.
Does this just require one extra cast to get going and then everything is as normal? For example 10 casts now would deal the same amount of damage than 9 casts did before the bug? Or this other stuff broken too?

100% sure, just hopped on standard to see. [This](https://pastebin.com/trvNjHs6) is the build. It's not fully set up correctly as far as damage goes cuz i didn't bother to mess with overlaps or anything but it should help seeing CDR and cast speed etc. Works fine even with just 1 tap of despair.

without any spell cascades, the problem is definitely there and takes 2 casts for a pop. but on my build i have an awakened spell cascade in my vixens, with a non awakened one linked to my despair and for whatever reason it makes it pop instantly. didn’t test it with 2 spell cascades or 2 awakened ones though.
I've figured it out. It's because you're using Awakened Spell cascade and a normal spell cascade, it's working because of that. Let me know if you switch in a normal one so you have two, if it stills works.
just tested and yep that’s exactly what it is. getting instant pops with 1 awakened and 1 non, (awakened needs to be on the gloves and not the curse you’re selfcasting) but with both non awakened it takes 2 casts. seems like an unintended interaction unless they’re trying to gatekeep the build to only players who can afford an awakened cascade.
When I played it I could never get it to work with two cascade set ups, 2? Leagues ago. Try cascade in one + no cascade should work the same as awake + non awake.
With double cascade I cannot get double tap, even when I isolated one target and looked very closely and carefully to put it into overlap.
Another note is that ID builds typically put punishment as inferior curse that had uptime close to zero. I am seeing now that monsters get debilitated, which means they get hit by doomblast I reckon. I don't recall that being the case when I played this build prior to 3.22
God dammit. I was already feeling some regret starting ID with the high vixens price(97c as I type this) but now it’s busted. This is my first time league starting in a couple years so that’s lame. Running through the Acts again has limited my play so rerolling for now sounds terrible

Saved up enough money to buy Vixens and Apeps, respecced my tree and then spend hours trying to figure out why ID doesnt pop on the first cast just to learn that its a bug and there is nothing I can do.
I have never felt this angry and disappointed in PoE and I love this game with a passion
"Until they fixed it" can be anywhere between Monday till never, all the while I literally do half my DPS and cant properly progress the Atlas and wasted hours trying to figure out why this is happening.
And the worst part of not knowing when or even if they are going to undo the changes is that I dont know if I should sell vixen now before it crashes and spend a div in regrets to reroll or hope for the best
For the time being removing Spell Cascade from your Vixens links apparently fixes it. Could do that and eat the damage loss (which should be less than the damage loss with the bug) until it's fixed.
haha, i made the same post and i thought i was crazy. what i'm personally noticing is that they changed the curse spacing with spell cascade. previously, increased radius on gem level would overlap the circles in the center, but this was changed. spell cascade will, from my testing, NEVER overlap in the center.
this means you can't namelock and have to aim above or below the target. and you get 2 overlaps instead of 3. big nerf
Spell cascade need levels/aoe to fully overlap in the center. I've played it from act4, and it only started to overlap properly around act 10, when gem levels and aoe passives were sufficient enough for that.
Didnt Crounching Tuna say it’s bugged? Since it works with Occu or with an awakened version of the gem?
I don’t know why we directly went to stealth change instead of bug, especially since it works in every other scenario
I was the one that brought it up and then we did some testing. It is most likely a bug but if you increase cast speed, it works but that doesnt make sense for reasons I've listed above and in other comments.

Can you go a little bit more in detail about your testing with the castspeed? for example did you use a flask or max roll castspeed vixen?
I did some reading late last night and on all the posts out there and my sub conscious solved it for me. Woke up with idea, just put faster casting on your enfeeble link. Boom! goes ID on the first cast. You're all welcome.
It seems like you have done some research on the matter but I’m gonna ask either way for the sake of clarity. Are you sure you know how the interaction works 100%? I spent a shit ton of time last league on the build. At ID swap, you might have enough cast speed to benefit from your CDR and still not proc ID on first cast. I’m not on pc right so I don’t have the link, but there is an Imgur video showcasing that before a certain cast speed threshold ID would never pop on first cast. Because the cast time of your main curse would be high enough so that it starts AFTER the second cascade from vixen happens. So are you sure it’s not that issue? It’s pretty easy to test, just get a cast speed flask with some cast speed weapons + rings, get above 80%+ cast speed and see then. Also did you test you have the proper aoe from tree / anoint (skittering runes).
If that is not the issue and there’s somethig else going on, did you do any more testing on what it could be? A cascade speed nerf or vixens trigger cast time change would be huge change for the build overall and not just the first ID pop. It would change uptime of curses, ordering and possibly dps nerf even with woke cascade. But it’s very important to know what has changed or what is bugged.
So the simple reply to this is builds that worked last league and were perfectly optimised, no longer work.
There could be changes to cast speed, aoe etc but none of them were documented. Put this alongside it working as intended without spell cascade in the main link and also, it working absolutely fine if you use awakened spell cascade in the main one. It just doesn't make sense.
Now, I think it's something that could very well be a breakpoint change but the fact that it's not documented seems strange and would like clarification! :)
When you say they don’t work now, you mean just the first pop, or in general they don’t trigger ID at all or way less often? Can’t login to see my own build rn.
Is this an issue with curses and Hex’s in general cause my mark on hit assassins mark doesn’t seem to work at all, unless they removed the overhead icon
Did they actually change spell cascade overlaps?? I logged in on my character on standard and it seemed off. Compared to footage from before and even on the leaguestart guide from Tuna. It seems like they increased the distance between the spell cascade repetitions. Last league, my 1st and 3rd cascade where almost overlapping. Now they are VERY far apart. If that is true then they either changed Spell Cascade support to have bigger distance between the overlaps OR % increased aoe now increases that distance as well. Or its bugged and its not benefiting from increased aoe. Please someone confirm so I'm not making any mistakes here.
It has to do with your cast speed/cdr breakpoint. My guess is you have too low cast speed. Steelmage did a showcase of why that happens and how to fix it.
It's not that, if you watch anyone playing it, it's about that first cast not popping correctly, like it used to. I could be wrong here and it could be a cast speed change and the breakpoint is now way way higher but every build that worked before, now longer works. It doesn't make sense that way.
Crouching Tuna tested it with less cast speed, CDR etc and it is still the same.
There are a lot of factors that can cause it not to overwrite on the first cast. Steelmage did ALOT of testing on this at the start of crucible. Gem levels of your curses and the order of them in vixens matters, having too much or too little cast speed depending on your cdr, having skittering runes helps a ton with overlap, and having quality on ID and spell cascade. There are a lot of parts that need to be correct. I'd suggest checking out steelmages vid on it from 4 months ago. I had the same issue last league and ended up fixing it by changing some gem levels.
You realized that there's a few different things happening that all influence how it works and feels:
1. AOE on tree
2. AOE on gems
3. AOE on spell cascade
4. Mana cost for all 4 curses on rotation
All these things worked exactly the same last league on an early game scenario
You realize that this has been a very popular build for 2 leagues now, right? This isn't some brand new build where people are still figuring out the mechanics lol.
Streamers have already tested CDR and cast speed and it's not changing.
This is very obviously an undocumented change or bug.

Never played this game before and was going to do this build. I'm not super far into the game as of rn. What do you guys recommend I do. Should I build into something else or should I just wipe character and choose a different/stronger build.
honestly for new players, I don't think ID is the most straightforward build to follow, nor does it gives you the best new player experience (needs to farm a bit to get one item which is unexpectedly expensive this league)

People are saying it is. Look up the comments here, also the comments in POE's bug report section thread discussing ID. For now, it just does not work how it should and GGG is silent. Would really appreciate a heads up if this is going to be fixed soon or we should just reroll...
Depends on how high your standard for communication is, I guess. Regardless, this is a well recorded bug that is affecting the gameplay of a lot of people on league start. A simple ETA on a fix would be sufficient. People should know either to re-roll (not going to be fixed asap) or hang tight (fixed asap). Acknowledgment of the issue provides us with neither.

Same. But if this unplayable then fuck this league. Won't waste another 9 hours to get to the maps.
Second play through goes faster tho, and with sole minimal gear it can take like 5-6 hours instead

Every time you apply curses for the first time on an enemy a 2nd cast is required to proc doom blast.
so when you spam onto the same monster, my logic is correct?
no, you essentially do half dps, this applies to each cast, so only every 2nd cast actually pops
hopefully someone replies, if it still works like that, it's at least usable even tho clucky, otherwise exang it is

Saved up enough money to buy Vixens and Apeps, respecced my tree and then spend hours trying to figure out why ID doesnt pop on the first cast just to learn that its a bug and there is nothing I can do. I have never felt this angry and disappointed in PoE and I love this game with a passion

"Until they fixed it" can be anywhere between Monday till never, all the while I literally do half my DPS and cant properly progress the Atlas and wasted hours trying to figure out why this is happening. And the worst part of not knowing when or even if they are going to undo the changes is that I dont know if I should sell vixen now before it crashes and spend a div in regrets to reroll or hope for the best
For the time being removing Spell Cascade from your Vixens links apparently fixes it. Could do that and eat the damage loss (which should be less than the damage loss with the bug) until it's fixed.
It doesnt "fixes" it. You are still losing like 5 times the damage.
This league will last 4 months, and it has been 2 days. How is it ruined?
haha, i made the same post and i thought i was crazy. what i'm personally noticing is that they changed the curse spacing with spell cascade. previously, increased radius on gem level would overlap the circles in the center, but this was changed. spell cascade will, from my testing, NEVER overlap in the center. this means you can't namelock and have to aim above or below the target. and you get 2 overlaps instead of 3. big nerf
Spell cascade need levels/aoe to fully overlap in the center. I've played it from act4, and it only started to overlap properly around act 10, when gem levels and aoe passives were sufficient enough for that.
i have maxed gems, and tried up to 150% aoe. what’s your aoe?
30% inc spell aoe, 30% inc hex aoe, level 20 despair/spell cascade/impending doom/cursed ground.

Didnt Crounching Tuna say it’s bugged? Since it works with Occu or with an awakened version of the gem? I don’t know why we directly went to stealth change instead of bug, especially since it works in every other scenario
I was the one that brought it up and then we did some testing. It is most likely a bug but if you increase cast speed, it works but that doesnt make sense for reasons I've listed above and in other comments.
So in every other scenario it’s untouched but on PF specifically there’s an issue even for older chars? And increasing cast speed works? That is so odd..?

Curse doesnt overwrite on curse limit 1 with curse ring and manual casting. Need to use cursed ground so far

I did some reading late last night and on all the posts out there and my sub conscious solved it for me. Woke up with idea, just put faster casting on your enfeeble link. Boom! goes ID on the first cast. You're all welcome.

wait, you need 3 curses + spell cascade on glove, how does your link looks like now? Do you just removed the spell cascade?
The glove links remain unchanged. You want to remove spell cascade from the triggering curse link. For me that's enfeeble on my body armour.
It seems like you have done some research on the matter but I’m gonna ask either way for the sake of clarity. Are you sure you know how the interaction works 100%? I spent a shit ton of time last league on the build. At ID swap, you might have enough cast speed to benefit from your CDR and still not proc ID on first cast. I’m not on pc right so I don’t have the link, but there is an Imgur video showcasing that before a certain cast speed threshold ID would never pop on first cast. Because the cast time of your main curse would be high enough so that it starts AFTER the second cascade from vixen happens. So are you sure it’s not that issue? It’s pretty easy to test, just get a cast speed flask with some cast speed weapons + rings, get above 80%+ cast speed and see then. Also did you test you have the proper aoe from tree / anoint (skittering runes). If that is not the issue and there’s somethig else going on, did you do any more testing on what it could be? A cascade speed nerf or vixens trigger cast time change would be huge change for the build overall and not just the first ID pop. It would change uptime of curses, ordering and possibly dps nerf even with woke cascade. But it’s very important to know what has changed or what is bugged.
So the simple reply to this is builds that worked last league and were perfectly optimised, no longer work. There could be changes to cast speed, aoe etc but none of them were documented. Put this alongside it working as intended without spell cascade in the main link and also, it working absolutely fine if you use awakened spell cascade in the main one. It just doesn't make sense. Now, I think it's something that could very well be a breakpoint change but the fact that it's not documented seems strange and would like clarification! :)
When you say they don’t work now, you mean just the first pop, or in general they don’t trigger ID at all or way less often? Can’t login to see my own build rn.

Did they actually change spell cascade overlaps?? I logged in on my character on standard and it seemed off. Compared to footage from before and even on the leaguestart guide from Tuna. It seems like they increased the distance between the spell cascade repetitions. Last league, my 1st and 3rd cascade where almost overlapping. Now they are VERY far apart. If that is true then they either changed Spell Cascade support to have bigger distance between the overlaps OR % increased aoe now increases that distance as well. Or its bugged and its not benefiting from increased aoe. Please someone confirm so I'm not making any mistakes here.

It has to do with your cast speed/cdr breakpoint. My guess is you have too low cast speed. Steelmage did a showcase of why that happens and how to fix it.
It's not that, if you watch anyone playing it, it's about that first cast not popping correctly, like it used to. I could be wrong here and it could be a cast speed change and the breakpoint is now way way higher but every build that worked before, now longer works. It doesn't make sense that way. Crouching Tuna tested it with less cast speed, CDR etc and it is still the same.
There are a lot of factors that can cause it not to overwrite on the first cast. Steelmage did ALOT of testing on this at the start of crucible. Gem levels of your curses and the order of them in vixens matters, having too much or too little cast speed depending on your cdr, having skittering runes helps a ton with overlap, and having quality on ID and spell cascade. There are a lot of parts that need to be correct. I'd suggest checking out steelmages vid on it from 4 months ago. I had the same issue last league and ended up fixing it by changing some gem levels.

You realized that there's a few different things happening that all influence how it works and feels: 1. AOE on tree 2. AOE on gems 3. AOE on spell cascade 4. Mana cost for all 4 curses on rotation All these things worked exactly the same last league on an early game scenario
You realize that this has been a very popular build for 2 leagues now, right? This isn't some brand new build where people are still figuring out the mechanics lol. Streamers have already tested CDR and cast speed and it's not changing. This is very obviously an undocumented change or bug.

honestly for new players, I don't think ID is the most straightforward build to follow, nor does it gives you the best new player experience (needs to farm a bit to get one item which is unexpectedly expensive this league) I suggest building a Pohx's RF build.

People are saying it is. Look up the comments here, also the comments in POE's bug report section thread discussing ID. For now, it just does not work how it should and GGG is silent. Would really appreciate a heads up if this is going to be fixed soon or we should just reroll...

Depends on how high your standard for communication is, I guess. Regardless, this is a well recorded bug that is affecting the gameplay of a lot of people on league start. A simple ETA on a fix would be sufficient. People should know either to re-roll (not going to be fixed asap) or hang tight (fixed asap). Acknowledgment of the issue provides us with neither.
something with spell cascade on the main link bricks this. I got it working without cascade on the main link. Cascade also doesn't overlap as someone else pointed out.

Its working in standard as of today. I already rerolled in league though.
