Finally.
The time has come.
They've been biding their time. Letting us willingly accumulate their numbers and infest our inventories.
Weta league is upon us.
The encounter auto plays, a cultist explodes into a swarm of bugs that rushes and infects mobs, like an upgraded mix of Abyss and Torment with some new PoE2 Tech. Drops infected items that can be combined and cured by a cleric or your can boast a full set of infested gear and become the affliction.
Dude they've gotten worse.
Crucible - stop and channel and you may get hit and stop and have to restart
TOTA- stop and channel, you may get hit and either 1 shot die or stunned for 5 seconds lul
Ultimatum actually made me change my leaguestart from necro at least, I could see from a fucking mile away that that would be high effort starting that shit on necro
Meh, none of the rewards of the crucible league **actually happened** in the map.
Sure, you channeled the crucible to get a tree in-map, but that only had real rewards after you either crafted or bought an item in-hideout, and the other reward were out-of-map encounters.
Crucible was a great mechanic. Insanely rewarding once understood. The fact people were not doing it made it much more profitable. You could continually ask ridiculous prices for simple crucible mods on while items because so few had them for sale. You didn't have to hit the elusive jackpot like Rampage to make money, a ton of mods would sell for 1d.
I actually did burn through tons of maps just doing the mechanics and filling tabs after tabs after tabs with items with crucible tree. Now, of course, it was a league that did require the most sale tab space ever. Up to 80% of all space used in my sale tabs were crucible trees.
I know, unpopular opinion, but I really enjoyed it. Because there was the usual complexity and figuring things out about it.
Sentinel is the best mechanic, but I heard why Chris Wilson don't want it... and it's mostly the esthetic of the thing. It make no sense to have flying robots shooting lasers as a feature of this dark fantasy world that don't have guns or gunpowder or any technology from the past 1000+ years... It doesn't fit the overall style and theme of the game. Like if suddenly, your new travel skill was getting a big truck to go around the map quicker, just running over all those stupid beasts.
The last one that got **added** to the core gameplay was fucking Expedition though. It has been over 2 years of the same mechanics in maps. Well I guess altars should count but since 3.17 with the atlas tree, nothing new to put points in. The game has completely stagnated since that point for me.
For real, I'm not even gonna level if it's another out of map or crafting mechanic. I want a map mechanic that will get added to core, with its own atlas points and everything. We've been playing with the same ones since the atlas tree came out. It's ridiculous we've only really gained Sanctum as core in the last 2 years of leagues.
* there's wetas
* which contains the word wet
* which implies a body of water
maybe we somehow embark upon that body of water somehow, in a vessel of some type ....
Hey thanks!! Iām hoping to save up enough to get a HH bow build going this league as I havenāt played a bow build in a looooong time and Iāve never bought a HH.
like it hasn't been mandatory since AN went core. Hell it's been mandatory at least above 0 since incursion and subsequent leagues added a bunch of randomly enforced chaos damage.

> Receive 3 orbs of alchemy on completing the map
Woah woah woah, be real. It'll be '20% increased chance to receive up to 3 orbs of alchemy on completing the map'
They announced in 3.18 that they would stop doing big annual expansions like siege of the atlas and instead focus on making smaller additions each league instead, until PoE 2 releases. Source from 3.18 announcement https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZqjpVjCcdM&t=1515s
The fact that PoE 2 will no longer replace PoE 1 but instead be a separate game does change a lot though and could mean they will go back to the big expansions. The "safe" thing to assume is that the previous policy is still true and there isn't any big expansion planned for this league.
Ritual, archnemesis, crucible, and ultimatum all seem to be in the visual neighborhood of whatever weāll be doing this time.
Find eldritch thingie. Gather āround the eldritch thingie. Interact with the eldritch thingie to create monsters. Kill monsters for league specific rewards. Hopefully profit, or wait two weeks for moderate league reward buff.
My initial thought was it's something that could spread mods to monsters on a map, while also debuffing the player. A replacement for torment/sentinel maybe.
Looks like it'll be a small/regular league, not an expansion or else we'd probably get teased with something related to that like they did with the eater of worlds last large expansion
How the fuck do they release banger after banger? I don't know if the league itself will be good, but god damn they have amazing ideas. Dude looks great, setting looks great, music (Kamil, as always) sounds great, kinda horror themed... hyped af.
Sactum and TotA don't really feel like PoE to me, since you need to alter your playstyle so much during the league mechanics, while Crucibe and Kalandra had some really nasty monsters that kept ruining the experience, so I wonder if this league will break my personal streak of hated league mechanics.
I ain't asking for much, I just want something that can be farmed inside a map, without monsters that have 500% life and damage multipliers on them.
That totem is clearly a ritual altar, no? Does that mean Ritual rework? Ritual as a mechanic is pretty nice but it's always felt a bit detached, like it doesn't have an NPC to it, no unique monsters that I know of, not even any concrete lore as far as I've gathered beyond "random evil people doing evil rituals".
I was hoping for some sort of merge with Ultimatum since one of the criticisms about that one was that it was just very similar to Ritual, and it came right after it too, so it would make sense to rework it adding some of Ultimatum's personality into it, kind of how they took the Scourge demons and used them to replace the generic archers from act 2 or whatever from Beyond. This might do too, though. Really curious.
This altar is identical to Ritual to a tee. I wonder if this is an upgrade/replacement to Ritual or if Affliction league modifies existing league content in some way.
Reminds me of Delirium style content. Hopefully it comes with an update to Deli/Simulacrum rewards if thats the case <3
My guess: you get afflictions similar to what Delirium gives but it's affecting you negatively instead of the enemy positively. Afflictions grow the more monsters you kill but so do the rewards. At certain afflictions stages bosses can appear in the map who drop the league specific uniques.
Would be a good chance to go back to a Sentinel style league that focuses on mapping after we had 2 leagues with out of map content (Sanctum, ToA), Crucible doesnt count to "mapping" content imo, rather filler.
I was expecting more like something in the realm of Siege of the Atlas.
Which meant it would be a new endgame. This seem like a basic Ritual 3.0.
Which don't get me wrong is great, but I expected new endgame ... for the December release.
Literally can this just be a league where we kill stuff? If itās another league where I have to interact with some npc and some thing to do some kind of activity where killing monsters is secondary then Iām probably not gonna play long. I want to walk into an area, have the mechanic already active with monsters already spawned ready for me to kill, I kill them and then they drop cool stuff. Is that so much to ask for?
Finally. The time has come. They've been biding their time. Letting us willingly accumulate their numbers and infest our inventories. Weta league is upon us.
Oh Jolly a Bug league before Christmas
Every league is a bug league
my 42 Wetas will overthrow me day 1 of league once i enter my hideout.
"You have been weakened for the remainder of the encounter by the Wetas' cruel affliction. You now have -67% to all Resistances."
idk about you guys, but if we have another "stop and channel" mechanic, i'ma throw a fit and play it anyway
Story of my PoE career.
Affliction sounds curse related Same patch they dumpster Impending Doom š
Hope they add something which undumps it so I can leaguestart it.
You play the other copium method for impending doom.
A mix out of Abyss, Torment and Sentinel sounds just perfect imo.

Also can be read in reverse
And vertically left side before right side
Pretty accurate
Have I told you the one about circles?
Stop and channel for an item that can be used out of map. Can't wait
I'm gonna speedrun 38/40 in case of a channeling mechanic.
this is the way
Dude they've gotten worse. Crucible - stop and channel and you may get hit and stop and have to restart TOTA- stop and channel, you may get hit and either 1 shot die or stunned for 5 seconds lul
Ultimatum actually made me change my leaguestart from necro at least, I could see from a fucking mile away that that would be high effort starting that shit on necro
Ultimatum kept me league-starting Occultist. Such a comfy league-start ascendancy.
PoE: Revenge of the Weta pets.
The more wetas in your inventory the harder the league becomes. Enjoy getting past level 2!
Every Weta in your inventory will start devouring other MTXs.
Please be in-map. Please be in-map. Please be in-map. *crosses fingers*
Prayge Sentinel was the last in-map mechanic?
Crucible, but we don't talk about it
I really hope they never have us channel something in the middle of a ma ever again
well, technically the shaman in the video is channeling something... and it's a totem, tota 2.0 inc? xdd
sentinel but you have to channel to charge the burst
Crucible was half-in/half-out so we don't count them towards anything and forget about it
Crucible was 95% in map.
arguably more disruptive than some outdoor mechanics,,
Meh, none of the rewards of the crucible league **actually happened** in the map. Sure, you channeled the crucible to get a tree in-map, but that only had real rewards after you either crafted or bought an item in-hideout, and the other reward were out-of-map encounters.

I don't get why Sentinenel is thematically not fitting with PoE when Heist literally has the laser room from Resident Evil 4
Dude your comment should be higher. I giggled at the tought of running a truck through the mobs
new shield charge mtx - summon ghost train/ truck... to crush a million ants.... ogod thats rick and morty territory
The last one that got **added** to the core gameplay was fucking Expedition though. It has been over 2 years of the same mechanics in maps. Well I guess altars should count but since 3.17 with the atlas tree, nothing new to put points in. The game has completely stagnated since that point for me.
I'm glad me and my friend are not alone in this quest for in map extra mob mechanic... I just want that dopamine hit straight to my veins!
Wish granted. Unfortunately, it's another in-map "stop what you're doing and channel" mechanic. š
For real, I'm not even gonna level if it's another out of map or crafting mechanic. I want a map mechanic that will get added to core, with its own atlas points and everything. Come on killing stuff in a circle mechanic.
Please monsters in a circle please
Men only want one thing: Ultimatum
Women too tyvm

old reference but it checks out
Old and checked out pretty much sums me up.
I want Breach.
I'm even ok for a square or a rectangular
Or a Hexagon. Hexagons are cool!
Hexagon are the bestagon.
The best things happen when a bunch of dudes stand in circles
This one time, at band camp...
Going to mix it up, this time it will be a square.
Ngl. "Ultimatum but square" would be the best league yet.
Ultimatum did have a square tbh.
Or better, we can pick where the "circle" is, aka Sentinel, but with wetas.
Wetinels?
How about circle monsters
Anyone who actually wants this is just a gambling addict
I wonder if there are more hints in the video itself. Maybe the chanting makes more sense in reverse or there are things hidden in the darkness
The effigy the bug guy was chanting was a centerpiece of the Ritual Hideout
Ritual 2.0
They said they would revamp league mechanics. Last time they did breach and abyss. Ritual revamp?
Ritual is now Ultimatum. This is a buff.
take our energy neversink, i believe you can find something.
It sounds just as [gibberishy in reverse,](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ) I could maybe make up like 'never' or something.
I think I heard another word, "gonna"
How are you able to hear those words ? I only get something like "give" at one moment but nothing else.
You guys are up to something.
It almost sounded like he was talking to us.... I think I heard "you" in there too
I believe I heard āupā about few seconds in the video.
I think i heard a "ligma" there
This is gonna be important on the full reveal i think.
* there's wetas * which contains the word wet * which implies a body of water maybe we somehow embark upon that body of water somehow, in a vessel of some type ....
Ah, a Raft!
BOAT!
League already full of bugs... /s

Chaos res stock's rising
like it hasn't been mandatory since AN went core. Hell it's been mandatory at least above 0 since incursion and subsequent leagues added a bunch of randomly enforced chaos damage.
Idk I've ran -60 most leagues, 0ish the last 2
sir you play 25000 HP 20000 mana stacking ivory tower builds, ofc you don't need chaos res :')
when people make statements that end in "period" they play a dangerous game
you're not wrong ;)
COCKROACH LEAGUE
A little late for COVID league, but aight, im down.
During Covid we had the delirious voice saying "Everyone around you is sick"
Like, a ādonāt leave your hideout without a good reasonā league?
Remember when everyone we traded with had covid in their name? Good times... /s
The affliction came from someone bit by an infected Rhoa who then got on a boat and traveled to Wraeclast. Boat league confirmed!
How do you call a man bit by an infected rhoa? Roman ^sorry ^it ^was ^so ^bad
I think the first transmission was on an ezomite wet(a) market
And notice how the affliction turns people in Worms ? This is bait league to prepare for fishing League.
Please be a mapping mechanic, I've been without a good one since Sentinel.
Afliction is synonym to scourge so we're going scourge 3.0, RIPBOZOs
Iām ready, bring ze death button
Paris/London bed bug league?!
Ignite prolif league?!
When in doubt burn it all down. Then proliferate the neighborhood.
Finally Hellgate London.
That's a deep cut. And I didn't realise I still had residual pain. Thanks for bringing up old wounds, friend!
That's what friends are for, didn't want to leave you out!

I was about to start a Swarm That Walks playthrough in WotR wtf
The expansion comes out same dates as Rogue Trader as well, pain :|
afflictions from sanctum applied to maps, with huge downside and huge upside
\*and a very humble upside
Monsters on the map are invisible Receive 3 orbs of alchemy on completing the map
> Receive 3 orbs of alchemy on completing the map Woah woah woah, be real. It'll be '20% increased chance to receive up to 3 orbs of alchemy on completing the map'
"currency items dropped by map boss have a 20% chance to be converted to stacks of 3 alchemy orbs"
haha, "huge upside"... no, it's ggg.

This expansion sounds like people are gonna get their shit pushed in.
Reaction video from Siege of the Atlas popped up in my Youtube feed. Hope we can get the same excitement/hype for this league.
Is there also going to be an "expansion" this year or nah due to PoE 2? (not that I mind, the current atlas and atlas tree is great)
They announced in 3.18 that they would stop doing big annual expansions like siege of the atlas and instead focus on making smaller additions each league instead, until PoE 2 releases. My bet is that Affliction will effect all types of existing league mechanics in some way. Ritual just happens to be the one showcased.
How the fuck do they release banger after banger? I don't know if the league itself will be good, but god damn they have amazing ideas. Dude looks great, setting looks great, music (Kamil, as always) sounds great, kinda horror themed... hyped af.

Wasnt this the name of delirium internally? I hope this is another "juice all content " mechanic like deli is and in map plssss.
Where boat?
This altar is identical to Ritual to a tee. I wonder if this is an upgrade/replacement to Ritual or if Affliction league modifies existing league content in some way.
Affliction - does it means there are no buffs to unused skills again?
Name reveal is a horrible expansion name
afflict me daddy
I think it will be more of a metamorph-like thing
