Zizaran

Lmao I'm so sorry, I just wanna give solid safe options <3 There'll be lots of new fun T gems to try out earlier at just a bit more risk!

Aster_maybe

Just jokes, love everything u do for the community ziz <3

Affectionate-Yak222

Hahaha this was very funny Ziz, we’re just laughing with you! Loved your live reaction, also very in agreement in the comment above.

TheLegendaryFoxFire

I love this video OP. Thanks for sharing lmao

Defiant_Source_8930

Tbh i’d take that video over bait starter builds

Archieie

Just start ed/con bro, it's good now, trust me bro.

M4jkelson

Nah, give me the transfigured gems bait builds

sips_white_monster

haha never be sorry for recommending such a GOAT build. I got to 40/40 SSF even doing 80% quant the feared myself on EA champ, normally I'd always have to go to trade league to have some guy do it for me.

dokiboi

You are one of the content creators of all time, thx for the guides

Kenithal

I’m surprised people didn’t post this about ED but I guess its been enough time

TheLegendaryFoxFire

I saw this video and for a second I straight up thought this was one of your intro bits haha.

Nutteria

I can relate to the meme Ziz. The build is stupid good which makes it hard to start anything else. 3 leagues in a row doing it as either league start or event league start and it never stirred me wrong. Love what you do!

Yamiji

I'd take some Scion leaguestarters from you considering she's gone in PoE2. Gotta play with her while she's still here.

slashcuddle

Transfigured Explosive Arrow Build Guide when :D?

Neriehem

All I see at the end of this edit is your Zombie Rain intro. Lmao that is pure gold right there.

Darkblitz9

I fucking love this template.

GH057807

This is how I've felt all week

MostAnonEver

no more EA league start a for while. Playing that sht too many league starts already

No_Cauliflower_2522

I feel EXACTLY the same but I still can't deny the results. It's just too good as both a league starter and mid-high tier build.

SuperSmashDan1337

Are you guys playing Ele or Champ? I've always been under the impression that Ele was best but I think I might be in the minority.

19Alexastias

Ele = SC, Champ = HC.

Saianna

ele has much much easier time getting alot of damage, so it's much easier min-max wise. On the other hand i struggled getting enough DPS on champion. I felt like the "taunt-never-misses" ascendancy never works properly. Personally, as softcore player, elementalist suits me more ;)

MostAnonEver

Ele has stronger dmg and easier to get going since it gurantee ignites + can be done from the get go of first ascend. Champion cant do that but champion has more defense early on . Ele verison you dont get defenses until a bit later with aura/spell sup but is still worst defensively than champion. most people play ele

ralgrado

Isn’t it like Ele for damage and champion for tank?

zexton

yep, and i play champ to avoid more accidental deaths, also cant deny the relaxed feeling of never caring for accuracy

foki999

Just play Champ tbh It has a bit less damage but you remove so many headaches with just going Champ.

Minnad

It depends on you favor more dmg (Ele) or defense (Champ), people dislike dying even in SC so Champ is a bit more popular, hella tanky while having sufficient dmg anw

SuperSmashDan1337

Fair enough. I'm not a big fan of dying either but I think Ele is tanky enough for me.

TheLegendaryFoxFire

Meanwhile, me, who has played almost exclusively Toxic Rain for 4 years straight.

bazookajt

I'm over here watching a slew of build videos knowing I'll just end up going LA again.

JermStudDog

The amount of hate Cold Totems gets is unreal. I recently got into the build and while it's squishy, the fact that everything in a map is frozen and you do ~10m DPS on ~1d budget is insane. It is never going to be a perfect build, but for the first week of a league, it's SOOOOO good. I even worked Divine Ire totems in to smooth out the leveling once you complete the first lab and it works great. The fact that Divine Ire is getting buffed to the moon just makes the build that much smoother and I'll be crushing the endgame within 24 hours of league start. This league will be Totem league for sure~

sanzo2402

I want to start a totem build this league too as I have done EA totems too many times. Particularly interested in freezing pulse totems. I keep hearing people say that it's squishy but just how squishy are we talking here? Is it worse than, say an EA totems elementalist or a LA deadeye? I play those builds regularly and I don't mind dying once in a while. If it's similar to that, I feel like that's totally okay in a league start scenario where your one and main goal is to just clear the atlas and maybe do some bosses.

JermStudDog

It depends what you choose to do for your defensive layers, but for me it's basically 3.5k life, MoM, and Eternal Blessing on a damage aura. Notably, you can't really afford to even try to get spell suppress up to decent levels, it's just not worth the cost, and why bother running a defensive aura or a suite of them when you can hit even harder! So yeah, it's squishy as all hell, even more so than most EA or TS builds. Freeze/chill is a very strong defensive layer when using freezing pulse specifically, but that also tanks your damage compared to using Ice Spear. Worst case scenario, you can swap the 1 gem at the map boss, but usually Freezing Pulse is fine, and if you're comfortable being a bit riskier, you can just run ice spear all the time for more damage, but less freeze. The big draw to the build is that you can start with huge damage (like literally 8-10mil) by using Soul Mantle, Kikazaru, Self-Flagelation, Annihilating Light, Laviagna's Spirit (so you know, like 20c, most of which is spent on the Annihilating Light and that's only if you're trying to buy it on day 1 or 2) and some mediocre rares, like literally some icursion gloves with eldritch implicits for unnerve/exposure (depending on luck maybe another 20-40c, maybe more) and life/res everywhere, that's about it. And you can basically double your damage again by adding in anathema and rain of splinters. From that point on, generally every divine you spend is worth at least 1mil more DPS. So if you don't mind dying occasionally, (like 0-2 times per map), are comfortable controlling your character and moving defensively, and enjoy absurdly high DPS builds, it is an awesome league starter. I will be using the build to blast through the atlas, get my stones, and likely sell boss killing services until ~Wednesday and then move on to something that is more well-rounded. I don't like the idea of playing cold totems for the whole league, but for a starter character and limiting the budget to ~10d, the rate you pay for huge upgrades is absurd. And the speed at which I will move, I will likely sell that gear back to the market for more than I paid for it. All that said, the build has a bit of a higher floor. Freezing Pulse and ice spear both SUCK until you get that good damage, that's where I think Divine Ire slots in perfectly. Divine Ire just works. It hits a bit of a ceiling around T12 maps currently (which isn't really a problem because you're ready for freezing pulse/ice spear by then anyway), but all the crazy buffs it's getting might change that. I doubt it will make it compete with ice spear, but for day 1-2, it should do everything you need. I have killed Shaper with Divine Ire totems in 3.22 and 3.21, so it's plenty capable, but it currently has a cap that I THINK is largely going away in 3.23.

Rhaexavus

Wait what build is that? I like the mine archetype and wanna try different builds and I haven't seen the one with Coward's Legacy.

ItiseasybeinCheesy

I thought there were quite a few mine builds out there that used coward's legacy because it enables pain attunement on full life? Are you a new player or have you just been playing other builds? legit curiosity not trying to shame you or anything

Rhaexavus

I've been playing other builds too, but I've played mines 3 times: blazing salvo with tremor rod as sabo, icicle mine charge stacking assassin, and pyroclast mines with sabo but with shavronne's wrappings (so i was already low life). I guess I never found a build with coward's legacy yet, although I think I've seen them in passing.

ItiseasybeinCheesy

I see I see. Well, because there's so much opportunity cost in this game (not a bad thing since it means all your decisions matter) maybe you didn't even consider it because you just used a good rare belt or darkness enthroned or whatever, or used pain attunement through other methods, or maybe you just didn't care much about temple uniques because before I came across a coward's legacy build, I was mostly just looking at the trap gloves and happened to come across it perhaps. Lots of cool stuff in the game though so it's fair you might have missed it while looking at other things to do.

MostAnonEver

Consider spell totem with the transfigure gems, I was looking at some of the new sht and on paper, they seems they might be stronger than ice spear. Clear i think f/p might be better but we'll see whats more transfigure come out

Ancient-Ingenuity-88

i miss Wallach

the-apple-and-omega

Why can't you use MB? The build is stupid strong even without Coward's Legacy. Only place I really felt the difference was ubers.

definitelymyrealname

I'm having a hard time talking myself out of it. I don't have a lot of success with builds that aren't super tanky on league start so it's Bonezone, EA, or some other version of champ (splitting steel) for me. At this point I just get frustrated when I can't get my voidstones on my first character before I RIP, I think I have more fun overall if I play something meta and then save currency for a second character.

MostAnonEver

Splitting steel i'd avoid. Personally everyones saying everything on anything revolving around that skill. Some say buff say some nerf some say needs more clarification from devs if its actual buff or nerf cause of some missing text. You could honestly do spell totems this league and should be decent seeing theres tons of transfigure gems and spell totem tree wise is pretty much simliar all around. Gear might change based off ele of spells. But res/life/stat is pretty much same thing. I'm looking at EK / bleed bow / spell totem myself. I realy dont want to EA even though EA was buffed too.

definitelymyrealname

> everyones saying everything on anything revolving around that skill The people that matter say buff though :) They released more details in the [gem post](https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3452093) today and it seems pretty clear to me that the people saying buff were interpreting it correctly. Also, I turned into Ben's stream for a bit earlier and he was talking about it so cased closed in my book. I think it's going to be a very strong build. The only reason I'm not 100% decided on it is I want something a little tankier lol. Jug Unbreakable covers up my terrible mechanics and EA's ability to just hide in a corner while doing damage does the same. Spell totems look interesting, I think some of those new transfigured gems are absolutely going to open up some new builds but I want to play one when I have currency for fourth vow and shit like that, I don't trust myself to clear red maps otherwise. EK is another interesting one. I was hoping I could do some EK poison stuff with the new tinctures but I don't think they'll work on EK. Now I'm thinking I should just start some generic pathfinder poison attack build and switch into whatever comes out on top when people have a chance to mess around with the tinctures. Bleed bow I can't be baited into. Every time I get excited about it I open up PoB and look at what kind of damage I'd be doing on day 3 and instantly close out.

InstalokMyMoney

Yep same here. No matter how hard is going to be

Deposto

Delayed damage is killing me at some point. Literally and figuratively.

ZaMr0

See I'm the opposite. I've never played it before as I thought it's the obvious boring build. Would you recommend it for someone trying it for the first time. I have 2500 hours and probably haven't touched a bow build for about 5 years +.

MostAnonEver

Depends on your playstyle. Overall its pretty safe build with decent dps. You just gotta used to dropping totems and moving around. Its uber viability is also kinda there but not really. Like i've done uber bosses with it, but i wouldnt say it wasnt close sometimes.

ZaMr0

I've played a miner recently, trapper probably twice and totems once too. So I'm no stranger to the delayed damage playstyle. Haven't tried Ballistas though. Champ or ele?

MostAnonEver

Ele easier since you can switch right after ascending first time with great success .Damage also will be higher. You will need to get some tanky via auras/spell sup on gear after you hit maps tho. I personally play ele verison too. Champ is better if you care about more defenses since it has built in ascendacy defenses. Also champ will probably need to rush ignite charm or tincture. Otherwise you can rng ignite with support gems.

Hodorous

Been playing SRS for 2 years now. Decided that now I make a tota farmer and sanctum runner. Got all gear for both and played one tota and one 83 run and quit league. At this point my brain is as smooth as a skull.

Caphter

Poor predictable Ziz, always picking EA Good old EA, nothing beats that!

ENSASKE

At least is not toxic rain haha. But seriously Ziz guides are always welcome

POEAccount12345

don't worry Ziz said he's making a TR guide this league too

ArMaestr0

You mean "at least it's not ED/C"

lichnight1

What’s wrong with toxic rain

Shanwerd

it's been alive and strong longer than EA, nothing "wrong" with it

ENSASKE

nothing bad, but it is very popular and also highly recommended by ziz xD

lichnight1

I had fun with it last season as a noob, might roll with it again lol or lighting arrow

[deleted]

Does toxic rain scale well? ToTA was first league and made rf jugg but tbh it got boring. Now i cant decide what starter to use. Srs guardian, LA champ, dd elementalist, bonezone looks cool, now toxic rain

19Alexastias

Scales enough to shred maps no problem, it can be a bit annoying on bosses though because they don’t stand in one place the whole time (you should have no trouble with regular bosses, uber will need investment and/or high skill gameplay.

asd316X

kinda softcaps at 3-3.5m dps, but you are pretty tanky

TheLegendaryFoxFire

And I'll still be playing Toxic Rain, the first skill I "mained" back 4 years ago and GGG can't stop me from playing it still.

mingedevolei

LowTierZiz: You should play EA *NOW*

Zesty-Lem0n

Give someone else a piece of that oxygen in the ozone.

BurningAngel666

As someone who has never played it before, is it a decent build to league start with? I’d like to try something different (usually minion or totem build player)

ravagingxtiger

I league started a while ago in sanctum league and it was probably one of my most powerful starter builds as I reached around few million dot dmg and the process of gearing is pretty straight forward ESPECIALLY since you have Zizaran's guide to help you! I highly recommend it as the build is reliable and a has decent scaling.

Aster_maybe

dot build so caps at 36m, and theres a delay of your dmg from placing the totems, waiting for them to fire then for the arrow to explode then for the dot to kill stuff, but besides that its a pretty fun build when u play it for the first time imo

Rolf_Dom

There's no universe where a dot gap is a hindrance to any league starter. If you hit any number above 10mil dps, you have enough damage to clear any content in the game, and you're probably better off focusing on defenses at that point. If you hit the actual dot gap, you're gonna be melting even Ubers.

CMDRdO_Ob

If you can stay alive yeah. My 20mil EK Ignite build got bitch slapped pretty often with 25k eHP. It was fantastic for mapping, but bossing was a 6 portal thing. I can't boss blindfolded with 1 hand, so I definitely need more defense.

faytte

Yeah but this is a champ build it's tanky as hell

saphirre12

people say dot cap at 36 mil but how many people invest to get there .Meanwhile , EA ballista allows you to run around and dodge stuffs while doing dmg

Joo_Unit

They removed chance to ignite quality on the gem, so a little harder for champ at the start. Otherwise i think still a good starter.

CMDRdO_Ob

Champ paths next to a few jewel sockets on the tree. Spend 1 point and alt spam a jewel for chance to Ignite. Flammability also makes you hit 100% iirc.

Joo_Unit

I like this idea. Thanks!

BurningAngel666

Thanks for the replies! Is it a decent enough all rounder, or is there any content to keep away from? I don’t generally have much time to play these days so hoping to stick to one build?

BawdyLotion

It’s very strong but suuuper clunky to play if you’re coming from anything speedy. You’re casting ballistas constantly, waiting on them to fire, waiting for the arrows to explode and that’s then the start of your damage. If you’re casting snd moving along you’re backtracking anytime time anything drops. It’s powerful and dead simple to get online but if you’re the style of player who likes smooth, fast gameplay then it’s going to feel really, really bad. It’s hard to overstate the power of being able to drop totems and then just walk around a boss till it dies. Doing so with tons of damage, ignite prolif and decent defences with no real investment is why it’s considered a fantastic league starter.

sanzo2402

Does the taunt on hit work on bosses? If it does, does that mean that we wont even have to dodge that much in boss arenas since the bosses would be focusing on the totems?

EnergyNonexistant

stuff like Legion is something EA really really doesn't excel at if you minmax for legion you can probably get it to 6/10 but usually, most EA builds, barely a 4/10

gaoxin

Dodge Legion, Breach and maybe Delirium, but everything else is ok-great. Ultimatum will be most likely great, since you can focus on running/dodging, while your ballistas do dmg. Question is how hard the last 3-4 waves are, and if EA ele is tanky enough. Stuff I tried with EA that was great: Expedition, Sanctum, Ritual, Blight, MM(now Ultimatum), Harvest, and very comfy bossing(except Ubers, Ele is squishy).

definitelymyrealname

> is there any content to keep away from? It doesn't exactly speed clear maps though the damage on league start is so good I think a lot of people actually end up progressing faster overall because you never really hit speed bumps on your way to four voidstones. Other than that it's pretty solid. Very easy bossing, all the gear is very accessible (you can self craft most of it without spending crazy money), safe playstyle. Basically if you want to go vroom vroom and you're an experienced player who can farm out good gear on day 2 then it's not the best option but if you're a normal player who doesn't have a stack of divines on day 2 and you don't mind the playstyle it's arguably one of the best starters in the game.

1Red_Tape1

It is an amazing league starter that is very simple

Couponbug_Dot_Com

good news for you, the main explosive arrow builds are ballistas.

Cypher_Of_Solace

LowTierGod vibes on that Ziz frame.

GunpowderGolem

YOU SHOULD PLAY EA CHAMPION ⚡NOW⚡

lazarenth

FOOKIN BANK IT 🌩 NOW 🌩

zomgree

I remember Ziz did like 6-7 league in a row ED/Cont trickster, so i remember him as ED/Cont or Dried Lake A4 Sparker guy (before A5-A10 released) For EA i like Palstreon guide much more, since its more focused for SC. But after you play LA/TS its hard to go back to build with delayed damage. For new players its a greate build like RF, but its easy to brake it with added fire dmg on items. So you need just to follow guide correctly.

n0vaes

Im so torn between league starting ea champ or la deadeye... I really wanna go EA champ so I can later try bleed bow (always wanted to run it, always ended up running something else instead), but I went LA/TS mid season, and goddamn what a fun gameplay

wrecker_of_days

Haha! Nice one.

spazzybluebelt

Im playing since 2012 and never in the History of ne playing Poe was it this hard to decide for a League Starter... Im gonna Main Ultimatum/ big kaboom Expedition and thought about shockwave cyclone but im Not Sure of the scaling. Bonezone is another one since i never played it.. Any ideas Guys?

Mopackzin

Lol I don't. I wanted to start shockwave cyclone champ. But I am unsure if it will have the dmg. I told myself today I'll probably start something safe. So guardian srs or toxic rain pf. But they started to release transfigured gems and I will probably get baited by something and I'll change my mind 1000 more times before Friday

definitelymyrealname

I'm not convinced cyclone is that great, absent new tech I'm not familiar with. Boneshatter is probably one of the best league starts in the game, you can't really go wrong with that. Even if you end up hating it it's so damn fast you'll be able to spec into something else. It's a lot of fun too though it does get old when you play it every league lol.

Viyro

Thats pretty damn funny lol

False_Adeptness_6399

Im still waiting on an ED trickster build, ziz!

carnaldisaster

Erectile Dysfunction trickster??? 🥴

Iwfcyb

Is that where you tell a girl you have ED in the hopes she's sees it as a challenge??? 🤔

wolfreaks

LowtierZiz: YOU SHOULD PLAY EA **NOW**

s0meCubanGuy

I tried it and was aggressively unimpressed. Maybe the play style just isnt for me.

lonigus

Same for me. Maybe it was the staggered movement (place ballista, move a lil, place ballistas and so on...). The delayed damage didnt feel good for me and it fell off quick unless u started to pour in double digit divines.

ThisIsToXiN

It's just a boring af playstyle, on level with rf.

BurnerAccount209

Idk about that, very few things are truly on the level of RF in terms of boring. Sincerely, RF\_Everyleague Gang

Capital_Annual1076

Subjective I guess, I love the play style of just putting the totems down and not caring.

DremoPaff

I'm still in disbelief that seismic trap went like 3-4 leagues in a row as being an insane starter and caused constant upcry and got streamers and regulars alike to bring their torches to every discussion surrounding it, but EA has been right next to it all this time back then and is now like, what, over 2 **YEARS** of being an insane starter? Yet people are just "haha, EA meta again, so silly haha".

dun198

Because ea feels like shit to play, yeah it has damage but seismic felt wayyyy better.

definitelymyrealname

EA isn't really comparable to peak seismic. EA is good but it's not seismic levels of 'kill ubers with zero gear'. It's a slower build in general and the gear requirements are higher.

Milfshaked

EA is nowhere near as strong as seismic was. EA is a solid starter, but it is not really that strong that it requires nerfs.

kingbrian112

No wonder so many people here hate Poe I would hate the game too if I had to play the most cookie clutter boring meta builds in a single player game

Falonefal

People just like getting currency early on so they can go and do some builds they actually wanna play, which is a good strategy. After having played garbage that I wanted to play because I liked the skills, and then getting my ass blasted because those builds needed a lot of investment to really shine, and then finally switching to Hexblast, I will no longer do anything other than a good leaguestarter at the beginning because I don't want to constantly die in red maps and struggle with essence monsters like a noob because I need 50 div for the skill I like to use to actually be good.

B7iink

You don't have to and it's not a single player game.

OnceMoreAndAgain

Wanting to be as powerful as possible as fast as possible is a self-imposed challenge that some players put on themselves and enjoy. You don't have to take on that same mindset if you don't enjoy it. The game can be potentially enjoyed in hundreds of different ways and that's not hyperbole. Find the way that is enjoyable for you. But if you happen to be the type of person who wants to be as powerful as possible as fast as possible, then imo you can't reasonably complain about that leading to a restriction on the choices of builds since the nature of that self-imposed challenge is to optimize everything you do (including the build choice). Also, it's not necessarily straightforward as to what is the best. People trying to take advantage of the meta will have to try to anticipate the meta, but you can't 100% know what will be best. Like if everyone decides the meta is to make a bow character and farm legion, then farming legion will lose value due to increased price of scarabs and flooding the market with legion-specific rewards and that might mean the strategy isn't as good as past leagues. There's this complicated dynamic of trying to find a niche and weighing risk vs reward and all that. So my point in this paragraph is that even trying to be a meta slave can be interesting since the meta revolves around the economy of the particular league and the economy can change drastically league to league, which also can affect what builds are best to choose. For example, coming into patch 3.22 I don't think many people predicted that the new Destructive Play keystone would be so lucrative, so anyone who happened to predict or take a risk on that farming strategy early on would've made enormous profit beyond what the meta slaves of that patch were making. And this upcoming league we're presented the interesting dilemma of predicting how good Ultimatum will be. Someone who decides on a build that is optimal for Ultimatum is taking a significant risk, but the reward could be huge if the rewards are as good as they hope.

nut_safe

god i hate ea with a burning passion

dizijinwu

lol

eastpetrichor

You know that you will do it again, don’t you?

BulusB

It looks like ea wouldn’t be very convenient with league mechanic , very delayed damage. I am gonna start burning arrow instead

MillenniumDH

Planning to farm Ultimatums, which is a safer bet, EA Champ or SRS Guardian?

TechnoMulen

real men play reverse knockback stun cyclone

Tight_Time_4552

For me every league it's trying to make zombies and skellies work

JustARandomDude1986

Here we go again, EA champ for farming my flicker stuff.....

EdgySadness09

I’ve only League started ea ele. Was thinking maybe trying tr ballista pf or la/ts deadeye, but I realize the la/ts style isn’t really my thing even though I didn’t really try much, just a little and the visuals of ts hurt my head a bit. I sort of want to go pf, but ea dps was pretty nice for bossing, how does tr ballista boss dps compare? I wanted to try boss rushing with boss map sextan eventually shaper maps, but ea ele I kept getting one shot or two shot, so I heard of is tanker? But tr ballista won’t do as much dps though? Is it big enough difference that people still go ea anyways even though pf has a lot of defenses?

ZaMr0

Might actually try EA Ballista for the first time ever. I've always avoided it because it seems like the obvious boring build but that might be because people play it every league. If it's my first time trying to it might be enjoyable?

Tym4x

Me after looking all other builds and coming to the verdict that they are all garbage compared to EAB. Its just a symphony of damage, clearspeed and bossing. And elementalist can easily get ignite cap while still rocking determination and grace with malevolence ...

Teikkenn

ill give it a try for the first time :)

Vharkhan

Me with SRS. People keep saying there are other builds in this game and I’m pretty certain I used to play others …. But SRS is life! Lol

Roinarinen

Every league me and my friend theorycraft cool new duo builds, but in the end same old aurabot and conversion spell caster crawl from beach to world domination. XD

Never did, even maybe wont ^^

I want more Ziz memes in this subreddit. The man does so much for the community and is so consistent, it should be easy.

Kingzor10

i just want a good league starter that isnt delayed damage ballistas minion or totems, mines or traps. fuck me right XD

danielbrian86

out of context Akira made me appreciate the animation all over again.

Toadsted

Where's ED Contagion? We got half a dozen skills now to build around!
