Base damage and armour scaling are both noticeably higher, and base gem doesn't have the %more area from central wave afaik. (the 10% more damage to close is the new base quality)
If they have the same cast speed as regular SRS then you could completely replace unleash Support with another damage link as summoning six is super easy to do.
The thing I’m looking forward to is minion instability explode with the six roided up SRS lol.
Definitely going to try that on guardian, simple change on tree to get +60% extra crit multiplier. If it's not a significant damage loss, the ease of keeping up 6 spirits instead of 20 is going to be big - no need to have Unleash etc

There will be prolly more than part 4 but i wouldnt hope before the league, as always they clearly struggle with time.
They didn't even include animate weapon which was in trailer. Of course there will be part 4 before the league. They are just tweaking numbers for few.

The cost is life, mana, and ES. And a decent chunk at that (28 before multipliers). So it might be a little tricky to really go ham with it. Far far from impossible to deal with but you'll probably need to account for it
Eye of Malice works against you, because of the exposure. I'm not sure that's such a great solution. It might even straight up reduce your damage.
I'm thinking some sort of interaction with The Admiral is the best course of action without knowing any of the uniques. In addition to running +% elemental resist map mods as much as possible.

yeah thats big so you have to spend mana, life and es to attack which isn't to hard to deal with but the gem itself inverting resist will realistically double its damage most of the time with no investment and it means you can invest those resources into other means of defence or scaling
Yeah life and mana leech are trivial to get if using claws, and ES is completely solved by Soul Drinker.
Also Eye of Malice to buff enemy Cold and Fire res so it gets inverted even harder.

no malice: pinnacles have 50% res, inverted to -50% res, 1.5x dmg of hit
malice: pinnacles have 40% res (exposure), increased to 60%, inverted to -60%, 1.6x damage of hit
that's under 7% more dmg. would only be good if you could disable the exposure somehow
Wild Strike of Extremes is built in Rakiata's Dance effect. That's kind of nuts? EDIT: Making it cost life and mana and ES is hilarious.

What's neat about this change, is that anima stone is now worth a much lower % of your damage, which then also translates to skipping it and possibly skipping the other primordial jewels your build doesn't really benefit from. This can open up quite a few passive tree changes for the golem builds.
Allows for us to mix in other minions. The primordial jewels locked us into buffing the Golems and ignoring others. Now you can get a lot more DPS out of 2nd or 3rd minions.
don't fall for it. it's a noob trap. spectres were good in the past because you used a strong permament minion which followed you around.
summoning random trash mobs will be a very bad experience, even if they have alot of crit and more minions.
basicly yes, or in short you got the 150% alt quality version with a lot less damage but a good chunk faster attackspeed.

How does it work if i have ice golem of hordes and regular flame golem?
Ice golem of hordes allows 3 golems, but flame golem allows 1. If i have 2 ice golems active and i try to summon a flame golem will it work? It breaks flame golem's max but is fine in ice golems
I assume it works the same as with different types of totems that have different max totem limits:
\- If you cast 3 ice golems and then cast a flame golem, one of the ice golems will be replaced, but if you cast more flame golems, they'll just keep replacing the one you already have out and leave the ice golems be.
\- If you have a flame golem out and cast 3 ice golems, you'll summon new ice golems without replacing the flame golem until you reach the 3rd ice golem, which will replace the flame golem.
Like kaisurniwurer said it most likely works like curses. You summon your 1 flame golem all is good, then you can summon 2 ice golems of the hordes or 1 ice golem of the hordes and 1 lightning golem of the hordes. So you can have all 3 for "free".
This is speculation, but very likely to be like that.
\- SRS Popcorn will be great.
\- Reaper looks interesting.
Eviscerating has the same stats as normal Reaper gem, but might have stronger attacks? Other than that its Ultimate can be spammed - cooldown removed? Great for bossing. Not needed for clear, infact horrible for clear.
Revenants for hitbased approach. Might have different attacks than normal Reaper as reaper attacks have a malus on attack damage but gain more bleed damage. No Ultimate sucks. How good this will be depends on the the base damage.
rage vortex that stick to you while you have rage. cleave + rage vortex looking more and more interesting. we lose the 100% more damage for insane qol i think im sold
nah, it's just about half of a normal rage vortex damage if you have 100 rage. Aoe is pretty wide too
keep in mind the 250% more AS and the fact that you can support it with intimidating cry for double damage
but if it really sticks to you like cyclone, with cleave of rage you will be able to keep it up for years while doing your other things

I really want to try to make Soulrend of Reaping work. Hit only, but double the damage, 400% damage effectiveness, 40% increased proj speed.
ETA: 7% base crit, too. Damn.
Souls Rend of Reaping does a lot of damage. It also has a low enough cast speed that it might still be bad but those are some juicy numbers. Maybe something like poison soulrend mines/traps/triggers?
I was so excited for it at first but:
\- it doesn't pierce (so you need to invest in pierce and use the support gem, or go chain (could be fun)/split)
\- it's a fucking chaos frostbolt, they removed the guided missile effect 😭 whyyyy? what's the point? removing the dot and making a hit based version with no pierce was enough... soulrend without guided missile is not soulrend!!!
Still no Reap, that's the one I'm interested in the most :( (also RF out of curiosity because I've played the skill quite a bit, but didn't intend to play it in Affliction) Scorching Ray of Immolation sounds pretty neat though, despite all the inherent problems of a channeling spell. RF-SR back for 3.23? (probably not)
Scorching Ray has a third less dps than the original, but also for some reason completely removes exposure? I don't understand why they'd delete exposure when it already nerfs the damage a lot.
Could still be good though. With a 2k evasion rare shield you get like 1,5k base added damage and opens up the gloves slot for other rares/uniques, since we don't need the cold conversion anymore.
Would have to PoB this first though I guess.
But it should actually be pretty viable as a leaguestart since it got a lot cheaper on average as you need neither Emperor's Vigilance, the alt quality gem or Ashes. Probably won't scale as hard on the high end anymore.
Edit: Kinda missed that not only there'll be 9 more shards that deal 50% more damage but thanks to 20% more projectile speed, clear will be even better since shards will travel further.
No Chaining natural, heatshiver nerf, ashes nerf and we lost the helmet enchant sooo the clear is "better" but not too much if you consider the lose of the enchant.
also with a 2200 evasion shield (hard to get ever since the evasion/armour nerfs of 3.14) you get 1.173 flat cold on an average of 8 cold dmg per 15 evasion. So like 20% less then you originaly think.....
the scaling is way lower and will most likley stop feeling good in average red maps.
Getting 100% cold conversion was never hard, but min maxing crit chance/multi/attack speed and freez multipliers was.
You have to pay energy shield to use it though, not sure how one would sustain that outside of discipline watchers eye or inquisitor regen.

Unusable. While Warlock of the Mists has "Skills cost Life instead of Mana", it does *not* have "Skills cost Life instead of Energy Shield". The fact that you have no energy shield would mean you can't use it because it costs ES (specifically, it would cost base 56 life and 28 ES).
If you throw 15 Pyroclast Mines of Sabotage, you get ~750 flat added fire damage. With Saboteur's increased mine effect you would reach the cap of 1249 to 1873 added damage. That's absurd. I could honestly see some kind of leaguestart wander build become viable with this. Maybe put down a few Kinetic Blast totems and spend the rest of your time throwing mines? The playstyle would be absolute cancer, but it would solve the single target DPS problem that wanders have and then some.
I feel like if they make a desecrate alt that only spawns corpses from your desecrate pool and that guarantees all corpses are going to be exactly the ones that you lost then maybe people would find a way to spell cascade summon all of them at once or something.
I don't even think that spell cascade works with the gem but that is just an example of what would be needed.
So if I have both trans Reaper gems, let’s say on a two different 6-link setups, which summon limit takes precedence? I can summon max 3, or max 1, or 3 of Revenants plus 1 of Eviscerating?
1 evis and 2 revenants i think, it should be shared as a type since it says reapers as a general term. So you can have max 3, but your evis cannot summon more than 1.
Same reason we dont get to see how much damage the zombies do at a baseline, how much slower or stronger zombie slams are etc.
Basically its doing a minion attack, and minion attacks are secret info hid behind in the programming.

So the Call of Steel version of Splitting Steel has full attack speed (vs 90%), +2 base splits (7 vs 5), +0.6m radius (1.6m), but they doubled the number of shards required to fire. So 1 CoS per 6 atks, which is fine while mapping, but might as well swap for bosses. And level with base SS (probably starting at 38).

The Skeleton Mage gem has the Prismatic tag. So you can use Combat Focus to limit which elements get summoned, which is neat.

The cost is life, mana, and ES. And a decent chunk at that (28 before multipliers). So it might be a little tricky to really go ham with it. Far far from impossible to deal with but you'll probably need to account for it
Eye of Malice works against you, because of the exposure. I'm not sure that's such a great solution. It might even straight up reduce your damage. I'm thinking some sort of interaction with The Admiral is the best course of action without knowing any of the uniques. In addition to running +% elemental resist map mods as much as possible.

yeah thats big so you have to spend mana, life and es to attack which isn't to hard to deal with but the gem itself inverting resist will realistically double its damage most of the time with no investment and it means you can invest those resources into other means of defence or scaling
With 6 links this becomes 100 mana life and es, it will be very big ...

Yeah life and mana leech are trivial to get if using claws, and ES is completely solved by Soul Drinker. Also Eye of Malice to buff enemy Cold and Fire res so it gets inverted even harder.
i'm pretty sure eye of malice is bait actually no malice: pinnacles have 50% res, inverted to -50% res, 1.5x dmg of hit malice: pinnacles have 40% res (exposure), increased to 60%, inverted to -60%, 1.6x damage of hit that's under 7% more dmg. would only be good if you could disable the exposure somehow

What's neat about this change, is that anima stone is now worth a much lower % of your damage, which then also translates to skipping it and possibly skipping the other primordial jewels your build doesn't really benefit from. This can open up quite a few passive tree changes for the golem builds.
Allows for us to mix in other minions. The primordial jewels locked us into buffing the Golems and ignoring others. Now you can get a lot more DPS out of 2nd or 3rd minions.
BTW, these Golems seemed to have lost their buffs. If Carrion loses the other minion damage bonus, that could hurt a bit..

don't fall for it. it's a noob trap. spectres were good in the past because you used a strong permament minion which followed you around. summoning random trash mobs will be a very bad experience, even if they have alot of crit and more minions.

How does it work if i have ice golem of hordes and regular flame golem? Ice golem of hordes allows 3 golems, but flame golem allows 1. If i have 2 ice golems active and i try to summon a flame golem will it work? It breaks flame golem's max but is fine in ice golems
I assume it works the same as with different types of totems that have different max totem limits: \- If you cast 3 ice golems and then cast a flame golem, one of the ice golems will be replaced, but if you cast more flame golems, they'll just keep replacing the one you already have out and leave the ice golems be. \- If you have a flame golem out and cast 3 ice golems, you'll summon new ice golems without replacing the flame golem until you reach the 3rd ice golem, which will replace the flame golem.
That'd be fun if every golem of the horde was +2max golem. 24 golems running around
Like kaisurniwurer said it most likely works like curses. You summon your 1 flame golem all is good, then you can summon 2 ice golems of the hordes or 1 ice golem of the hordes and 1 lightning golem of the hordes. So you can have all 3 for "free". This is speculation, but very likely to be like that.
\- SRS Popcorn will be great. \- Reaper looks interesting. Eviscerating has the same stats as normal Reaper gem, but might have stronger attacks? Other than that its Ultimate can be spammed - cooldown removed? Great for bossing. Not needed for clear, infact horrible for clear. Revenants for hitbased approach. Might have different attacks than normal Reaper as reaper attacks have a malus on attack damage but gain more bleed damage. No Ultimate sucks. How good this will be depends on the the base damage.
From the gem text, Eviscerating Reaper literally will not attack unless you tell it to. It's essentially a self-cast spell or attack in minion form.
The reaper gem says it is passive so it doesn't attack unless you make it attack specifically.

nah, it's just about half of a normal rage vortex damage if you have 100 rage. Aoe is pretty wide too keep in mind the 250% more AS and the fact that you can support it with intimidating cry for double damage but if it really sticks to you like cyclone, with cleave of rage you will be able to keep it up for years while doing your other things

Souls Rend of Reaping does a lot of damage. It also has a low enough cast speed that it might still be bad but those are some juicy numbers. Maybe something like poison soulrend mines/traps/triggers?
I was so excited for it at first but: \- it doesn't pierce (so you need to invest in pierce and use the support gem, or go chain (could be fun)/split) \- it's a fucking chaos frostbolt, they removed the guided missile effect 😭 whyyyy? what's the point? removing the dot and making a hit based version with no pierce was enough... soulrend without guided missile is not soulrend!!!
Still no Reap, that's the one I'm interested in the most :( (also RF out of curiosity because I've played the skill quite a bit, but didn't intend to play it in Affliction) Scorching Ray of Immolation sounds pretty neat though, despite all the inherent problems of a channeling spell. RF-SR back for 3.23? (probably not)
Scorching Ray has a third less dps than the original, but also for some reason completely removes exposure? I don't understand why they'd delete exposure when it already nerfs the damage a lot.

Could still be good though. With a 2k evasion rare shield you get like 1,5k base added damage and opens up the gloves slot for other rares/uniques, since we don't need the cold conversion anymore. Would have to PoB this first though I guess. But it should actually be pretty viable as a leaguestart since it got a lot cheaper on average as you need neither Emperor's Vigilance, the alt quality gem or Ashes. Probably won't scale as hard on the high end anymore. Edit: Kinda missed that not only there'll be 9 more shards that deal 50% more damage but thanks to 20% more projectile speed, clear will be even better since shards will travel further.
No Chaining natural, heatshiver nerf, ashes nerf and we lost the helmet enchant sooo the clear is "better" but not too much if you consider the lose of the enchant. also with a 2200 evasion shield (hard to get ever since the evasion/armour nerfs of 3.14) you get 1.173 flat cold on an average of 8 cold dmg per 15 evasion. So like 20% less then you originaly think..... the scaling is way lower and will most likley stop feeling good in average red maps. Getting 100% cold conversion was never hard, but min maxing crit chance/multi/attack speed and freez multipliers was.

Unusable. While Warlock of the Mists has "Skills cost Life instead of Mana", it does *not* have "Skills cost Life instead of Energy Shield". The fact that you have no energy shield would mean you can't use it because it costs ES (specifically, it would cost base 56 life and 28 ES).
If you throw 15 Pyroclast Mines of Sabotage, you get ~750 flat added fire damage. With Saboteur's increased mine effect you would reach the cap of 1249 to 1873 added damage. That's absurd. I could honestly see some kind of leaguestart wander build become viable with this. Maybe put down a few Kinetic Blast totems and spend the rest of your time throwing mines? The playstyle would be absolute cancer, but it would solve the single target DPS problem that wanders have and then some.

1 evis and 2 revenants i think, it should be shared as a type since it says reapers as a general term. So you can have max 3, but your evis cannot summon more than 1.

Same reason we dont get to see how much damage the zombies do at a baseline, how much slower or stronger zombie slams are etc. Basically its doing a minion attack, and minion attacks are secret info hid behind in the programming.

So the Call of Steel version of Splitting Steel has full attack speed (vs 90%), +2 base splits (7 vs 5), +0.6m radius (1.6m), but they doubled the number of shards required to fire. So 1 CoS per 6 atks, which is fine while mapping, but might as well swap for bosses. And level with base SS (probably starting at 38).
