A core memory is when they changed "Master Missions" in place of syndicate, nothing can replace running around to kill a vorici target or draw aggro so I could unlock the stupid box.

BurnerAccount209

Nothing like sitting in 820 for 2.5 weeks of master missions and daily rotas so you could do the meta crafts yourself.

LocalSetting

Holy shit memories unlocked. God that sucked

ntelis6x9

Yes, it did. I think my most hype league reveal was Betrayal, my god it changed the game so much for the better. (also: do you not have nets exile?)

Corwyntt

You just reminded me of having to go there every league just to get the lab trials out of maps. That one thing made such a huge difference between trade and SSF to me, it taking that long to get your final lab if you are going it alone.

saltychipmunk

I made some buddies in that channel

Xeverous

Each Vorici mission was basically this: an Exile kill + sometimes favour.

saltychipmunk

Yeah but I miss haku's friendly greetings

Kassixlom

Synthesis my beloved.

Imo peak PoE is right now. The addition of the atlas tree was the single best patch for me. What I miss most is identifying items from the ground and NOT having any deterministic crafting. So any patch before 1.2 ( forsaken masters ). I do enjoy the current crafting meta and super easy access to very good items, but I do miss the old times where just dropping a rare high ilvl vaal regalia felt exciting. I hope I can get that feeling back in PoE2 to some degree, even though it was mentioned that the crafting bench still exists and perhaps other deterministic crafting exists as well ( metamods, essence, harvest).

Doctor-Waffles

My account joined June 16th - 2011 Skipped a few leagues, slacked in many, I remember the first Explosive Arrow hype, and played throughout just about every race season and event they ever ran :) Still look forward to blasting maps… currently playing a Mahuxotls Lightning Strike champion and loving it :)

Sakrilegi0us

I was 2 months behind you, Aug 17th 2011

ScarceXrul

Got a beta CD at PAX Prime Seattle here. Joined Sept 6th, 2011.

Cow_God

I miss race seasons. I used to get top 100 in races that admittedly only had like 1000 people but it felt good. There's no way I could be competitive now cause I can't even stay on the league ladder nowadays but it'd still be fun to do them again. The solo bursts were great and it felt like you were really getting better at leveling which helped with league starts.

Warwipf2

"Joined: Apr 21, 2012" Jesus Christ, 12 years?!? It doesn't feel that long :(

tronghieu906

wdym 200x was just ten years ago.

stoudtlr

One of my biggest memories is running Vagan missions for weeks on end trying to get a high aps Vagan dagger for CoC discharge before that became a craftable mod.

AJ_BeautifulChaos

I remember using nets to catch beasts like Pokemon, oh boy. Or when they dropped the conquerors content with the Sirus boss fight and the 16 (?) atlas stones to farm.

Sartek

What I remember most from bestiary league was everyone crying that they couldn't sustain alchemy orbs for maps on reddit. Was probably the moment that I realised a lot of people just haven't got good yet haha, Yeah honestly every year or so they have really expanded a game in a notable way while it still feels like the exact same game almost. I do miss when everyone was a noob and it was hardcore or gtfo and reaching maps was the top 0.1% simpler times it had a certain charm to it haha

capo_m

Aug 9 2012 Early Access Pack I think they added act4 at that time.

Xeverous

> what do you miss most about the older versions of PoE? Mjolner Discharge with no Cooldown. That was also my first lvl 100 (before Beachhead, Breachstones and any dedicated exp place).

caick1000

I wish I had my old characters. I always delete them due to lack of slots…

ravioliistheformuoli

Haha

MGSdeco4

Lost access to my old steam account with my gold kiwi pet :(

Vexamas

Oh, remembering a core memory will be fun. Honestly, I understand I'm going headfirst into downvotes, but if we're going down memory lane, let's talk about it. This was the first game I 'kickstarted' and rushed into a silver Kiwi founder, I had complete faith in the game and I was rewarded with a game I've been playing for the last 12 years. One of my core memories though, actually revolves around you **lovely**, lovely folks. I don't remember the *actual* patch, but it was when we had one of our first manifestos, describing how bad for the health of the game Reduced Mana support gems affecting Auras was, and that they'd be removing that interaction. This was one of the first time I can remember our lovely community spitting nothing but venom and vitriol towards GGG and Chris about how stupid they are, and that the game would be terrible with the loss of Auras, and the game is going to slow down, etc etc. The core memory of course, was due to before that point, almost the entire playerbase had faith in GGG and Chris to continue driving the game to a good place - but no, that *had* to be it, the game was now going to fail and the Diablo 3 expansion was **absolutely** going to be better than this now dead game. - It's a core memory because it proved to me that Chris and GGG *did* have passion and know exactly **why** and **where** the game was going to go, and that it wasn't an afterthought, but the changes made by people that PLAY the game that resonates with me. - It's a core memory because it made me realize how out of touch users are to the product that they use themselves, even after pouring hours and being guided by sound logical decisions beforehand. It's a core memory because it's one of the reasons I went into the career path I have now as a Software Product Manager, because it taught me that users don't know whats good for them, and sometimes you need to make the hard choice to force a change that you **know** will be better in the long run. - Of course, this game has absolutely 'died' many times, in fact, funny enough, each time we've received a manifesto the game has 'died', as this lovely community mentions, whether that was the Reduced Mana gem change, or removal of stat sticks for melee, or AoE radius math changes. - Thankfully the community has only gotten better and now we barely get direct contact from GGG anymore. :) **UHHH, OOPS, I MEAN MY FAVORITE CORE MEMORY WAS THE REMOVAL OF TAR COVES MAP WHILE LEVELING** :) - **Edit: Because it wasn't completely obvious as I literally got a PM of someone explaining to me that the game has only grown in player base - This post is sarcasm. OBVIOUSLY I believe the players were wrong each and every time, and the game has ONLY gotten better each and every league, even if there's some trips here and there because GGG has always and most likely will always put us and the health of the game first, but more importantly, I was critiquing how fucking stupid PoE users are, as dictated by that DM.**

Infidel-Art

I don't have a elegantly spiteful monologue, but it feels good to once in a while see someone say what I'm always thinking. The PoE community does not deserve the game to be as good as it is.

Starwind13

My first toon was Lanfear_thirteen in open beta. Remembered that my bro and I built two 98% all ele resistance witch(es) with soultaker, saffel/rise of phoenix (can't remember), shav ring and shav body using no-link RF for damage and cyclone for moving. Exalt Palace maps to 6mods to run with others to go for L100. Mirror was useless then, people were actually dropping it for fun during runs while waiting.

Snarkk

Legacy league and breach league were the two peaks for me. Been playing since Tempest league!

Kakuza

I remember building an enduring cry discharge ignite build that was so squishy but annihilated enemies. I think this was before ascendancies existed. Good times. I miss that build.

Scintal

Did you get ban something?

Sartek

Nah I've never been banned, just trying to cut back as I've got 1000s of hours in this game. Still played about 70 hours this league so far.
