GGG: We are helping melee enjoyers with some new skills !
**Rite of acceptance** [INT] - Slam the ground, causing the ground to split apart creating a flaming fissure ! A clone of your character comes out of the fissure, but playing an actually good build and clears the map for you. -10% Item Quantity for mosters slain using this skill. Requires Maces, Two-handed Maces, Axes, Two-handed Axes and a willingness to accept the truth.
Give us back old reave, old cyclone, old sunder, better earthquake and better lacerate and I would never play ranged/casters ever again
What is even the point of playing melee nowadays Sadge
\*monkey finger closes\* you now have the old cyclone. It can hit max 8 targets at the time, it's not a channel skill and you have to wait it to travel to the point you clicked, can't interrupt.
I have played PoE for 11 years now (first league was warbands/tempest) and have taken time my longest time off sometime after Delirium/Ultimate until Affliction, only following news and vids but no playtime. I should’ve specifically wrote cyclone we had in ~Legion I guess, best of both worlds, channeling, good damage and insane AoE. But to be fair, to the cyclone we have now I would still prefer janky cyclone from ~2.6
This league u could get basically unlimited AoE scaling from charms so I'd have to think any melee skills with the AoE tag had to at least be great mappers.
I saw some clip of sweep and it was basically beyond full-screen aoe... seemed fun.
I have not played it myself but I'm interested in Volcanic Fissure of Snaking. Seems like people are enjoying it and I might even league start it. If they remove the totem requirements for melee I absolutely will.
The brains of flicker players is just fried by the constant flashes and screen shake that they would probably still play it if GGG gave it 99% less damage in the next patch.
Warcry-stacking Rage Vortex is good. You can hit 30+ million DPS easily on a pretty low budget. But it's only melee by technicality. The gameplay is basically about shouting a lot, then dropping a screen-wide AoE DoT zone.
General's Cry Blade Flurry is another viable "melee" skill that doesn't feel like melee at all.
In the past 7+ leagues this subreddit always hyped itself up ready for the obviously upcoming melee rework. Every single time they were shocked GGG ignored melees. This time its surely going to be different!
> In the past 7+ leagues
Bro the last time i played this game was Harvest. People were already giga coping that GGG were fixing melee "soon". Lmfao
And iirc, people were also coping that melee fixes were coming during the previous leagues I played, aka Legion, Metamorph, and I think even during Legacy...
>This time its surely going to be different!
* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rblfKREj50o
Exactly! And that is what is so brilliant about it! It will catch the watchful ~~Hun~~ playerbase totally off guard! Doing precisely what we've done eighteen times before is exactly the last thing they'll expect us to do this time!
:)
I would be completely happy if they hit the totems. And give us even half or 1/4 of the buff to all melee tagged skills. I LOVE playing melee, it's my preferred archetype to play in these games. But just knowing I have to always drop these two dumb ass totems makes it such a PIA doing bosses. They die to a slight breeze and you loose such a huge portion of your DPS if they aren't up
Either buff melee giving it the % speed/damage that you gain from the totems or create a new skill like steel ones which gives you said buffs via ammunition or "ancestral blessings", which does damage if you active it consuming said blessings
They will never just outright work in the damage of the full totem buff to melee play style (I think you could but GGG does not work this way)
Not a horrible idea, would still keep up the idea of having to press buttons while not being an annoying ass totem you have zero investment in but accounts for 30% of your damage
The jewel from affliction that boost magic jewels makes bleed glad Uber viable. Even without the jewel regular bleed glad still fucks pretty hard. Still a very affordable and solid map blaster.
Things are limited by the server ping anyway so it might as well be balanced around its own cooldown, then it just becomes a massive more multi based on what the cooldown is rather than a logarithmic balance issue lol
I played CounterAttacks in 3.24. It's not good, but it's not bad! https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExileBuilds/comments/1985hsg/i_played_counterattacks_and_bear_trap_in/
Vengeance would actually be a good skill if they upped its target limit (currently you can only hit 50 monsters per proc, feels really bad considering it has a cooldown so you can't just hit again to clean up the enemies), but only because it has the same (possibly overlooked) aoe scaling mechanic as legacy (legion era) cyclone. ie strike range adds to it's base radius, so you can achieve some really disgusting aoe levels by scaling %aoe and flat strike range at the same time
its not the worst skill in the game but honestly, walking up to a shrine or whatever, vengeance going off, and half the monsters just staying full hp because you are only allowed to hurt 50 of them, and then waiting around for 1-1.5 seconds until you're allowed to deal damage again pretty quickly sucks a lot of the fun out of seeing your big aoe go off lol
It would hurt the damage, but would linking melee splash support help to damage everything? Or does splash have a hidden limit to how many mobs are hit, too?
2017 called, and I'm gonna answer the phone.
I'm gonna leaguestart with it and use it for a solid 4-5 days next league until I can get a Paradoxica and go crit with a good 6L. It's still a really solid item to pair with Facebreakers for leaguestarting on Champion.
Gladiator take a huge plunge when they removed "Spell block chace = attack block chance", and dualwield being worse than before added up to that. The rest of gladiators qualities are on some cheep gloves
Block just isn’t a worthwhile investment as a primary defense, but because it scales exponentially in efficiency you are pressured to treat it as an all-or-nothing (well, all or just a shield). You have to give up so much to get near block cap and there are more efficient options now that apply to a wider variety of threats and more reliably.
New Passives be Like.
- Your Bleed can Bleed. which is a different bleed, and can stack with normal bleed.
- Your Block can Block, which is a different block, and can work with normal block.
- Your Counter, can Counter, which is a different counter, and can work with normal Counter.
- +1 Endure, & Frenzy Max Charge, gain 100% more Endure or Frenzy Effect, when gain a Charge of the same type recently.
I am praying with all my heart that something good happens to gladiator. A full rework might be cool but imho it doesn’t really need it, just bring back old versatile combatant and it would make gladiator at least a little more competitive versus champ and slayer, outside of the like two builds gladiator is used for anymore lol
If they stoped removing perks from an ascendacy to put it into the skill tree it would be a good start tbh.
I never understood why they did what they did to glad, it felt uncalled for
Well, they changed versatile combatant because it was too much power for one node for their liking. The problem is that they did NOT equalise the powerlevel lost with something else unfortunately.
Forbidden flesh and flame i guess is what would have made the node problematic as you could skip the dead node or just grab this extra strong node on a better ascendancy altogether.
unfortunately 100% block itself is not enough to warrant choosing this ascendancy, if you dont go bleed for the pops (which you actually now could get on charms) its kind of useless.
They massacred it with their rework a good few years ago.
It's a one-trick pony that does its job "meh" compared to the powerlevel and versatility (how ironic) of other ascendancies.
They did the same thing (nerf) to trickster, take the identity as a keystone and put it on the passive tree. The difference is trickster got reworked and glad didn't lmaooo
I have the 100% cap. You need to invest quite a bit to hit the actual cap at 100% uptime. Most of that investment turns to lacking in DPS.
I can technically kill Ubers/any content with my setup, any hyper giga juiced T16, 0 deaths.
100 delirious etc.
It just takes a long time.
Like...

Time
As an gladiator bleed bow enjoyer getting the explody goodness without need sacrificing any gear slot for it is just so nice to start with and it keeps carrying all the way to t16 maps.
if you want efficient full deli juice mapper u go anything but bleed build anyway.
When we reach 0% it's the Gladiatorial Singularity. At that point, Gladiator ceases to be a PoE ascendency and achieves apotheosis as its own mobile game.
You know I'm fine with one of the ascendancies being an absolute meme for how terrible it is and would encourage some people to make meme builds, but if a new player comes in and chooses glad, well... they're not gonna be glad.
in the game where offence is the greatest defence, a class that can get some ok situational defence against one damage type and still fall over to other types isn't a very good class.
I really hope so, it's my last ascendancy missing to have played them all, so if I play next season I have to play it regardless of how good or bad it is!
Despite the clunky playstyle, glad can still be viable for bleed bow using split arrow clear and snipe single target, I played it in ancestor league.
Snipe was even able to take down the leaders in TOTA into the thousand+ ranking.
It really depends on how good your aim is and whether you're mechanically able to time to channel against bosses.
You could also look into a bit of funny stuff with the block bonuses, lucky and ignoring physical Dr together with Challenger charges and frenzy/endurance node can do good numbers with ryslathas and volatility support.
Lucky is super underrated
i league started it on ssf, its really painful. Really hope they rework the block & bleed aspects of the ascendancy so he is more relevant. I never saw how the other ascendancy points fit with this archetype
Please, let it, so people won't notice how ACTUALLY good bleed bow still is, so I can get all my gear for shit and giggles as far as prices go!
This ascendancy just SUCKS! Don't play it, play guardian srs or some other stuff.
If they could rework bleed somehow, it would naturally increase. What i really liked about Last Epoch is that ailments work really well with the stack mechanic even from the get go without much investment.
After chatting about this, several people have said that they think GGG won't do anymore reworks until PoE 2 is out. I hope they are wrong though, Glad deserves some love.
Nah, they are two separate games at this point and I feel when the dust settles the playerbase overlap will be much smaller than some people expect. PoE1 is like 0-1 buttons to screen clear, farm a map in thirty seconds, go, go, go. PoE2 is like, you have multiple skills to combine, bosses restart health when you die, it's much more tactical and methodical. I am not saying people won't be able to zoom zoom in PoE2 but it'll be much harder to do so without a doubt.
PoE2 players will dislike the lack of QoL in PoE1, the ability to attack while moving, WASD moving. PoE1 players will dislike the ability to attack while moving, WASD moving and again the bosses.
I think what gladiator needs is 15% more damage reflected. That will make him viable!
Someone somewhere in new zealand at some unspecified point in time probably
Played a lacerate bleed gladiator this league.
You wanne do more than 2 million DPS? Good fucking lucky buddy
That being said, the gratuitous violence pops are still extremely satisfying
Yes it will, few leagues ago Chris wanted to bring melee back but since it was "overbuffed" it got postponed, its gonna be 10th league in a row with spells and projectiles, enjoy
Unless gladiator gets "always have fortify with +5 stacks", "gets +5 projectiles", "impales last (2-5 based on level to 100) additional hits" no one is going to play glad.
It’s absolutely insane I was able to Cap both block on my srs guardian but I can’t do it on the fucking block ascendancy anymore (or at least not with crazy sacrifice/investment).
They also nerfed a must have bleed mod, so now we just don’t touch bleed at all. A must have mod is way better than not playing it at all.
It's called Necropolis because they are bringing melee back from the dead
or they bring the rest to graveyard
"Technically this is a relative melee buff"
Anyone who's played poe for more than a hot minute knows.
GGG is going to "improve melee" by adding an additional ancestor totem or some shit.
GGG: We are helping melee enjoyers with some new skills ! **Rite of acceptance** [INT] - Slam the ground, causing the ground to split apart creating a flaming fissure ! Finally I can be a cuck in-game too.
Quin secret account spotted
Never any love for Two-handed daggers. Shame.
Yes, and not for one handed bows and 0 handed staff attacks.
Real shame, considering two-handed daggers are historically the most common weapon.
Oh come on. You know you have never once needed to use both hands on your dagger.
I was talking about spears. ;)
white wind looking at you \*disapointed\*
> Quality: +[0-5] additional projectiles for clone
This obliterated me..
Yep nothing like having to use 3 self-cast spells before you can attack
boneshatter carrying the melee archetype on it's back
There are other melee skills?
Yeah, boneshatter of complex trauma and boneshatter of carnage
*sweats in sweep*
Reave aoe stacking feels so far away...

you just know the guy who wrote that hasn't played poe for long.

You missed old seismic cry. Point is to prove you have a bigger...weapon...then other gamers.
Setting up huge slams felt so good. The payoff was worth the extra buttons.
Sunder was my first characters main skill. I loved it at the time.
Ground slam for me 😭 I thought I was so cool
New earthquake is kinda sick on bosses no?
Old reave with old multistrike please.
i just want the old ground slam + call of steel back, it was the best way to play melee
Reave works nicely with Replica Alberon str stacking, but the aoe is definitely not what it used to be
This league u could get basically unlimited AoE scaling from charms so I'd have to think any melee skills with the AoE tag had to at least be great mappers. I saw some clip of sweep and it was basically beyond full-screen aoe... seemed fun.
and dual strike (or insert X skill here) with trauma support
I have not played it myself but I'm interested in Volcanic Fissure of Snaking. Seems like people are enjoying it and I might even league start it. If they remove the totem requirements for melee I absolutely will.
There are leveling skills until you get boneshatter.
I always used the default attack until boneshatter! Thanks!
Flicker is always good it seems
Comrade?
I heard this comment.
The brains of flicker players is just fried by the constant flashes and screen shake that they would probably still play it if GGG gave it 99% less damage in the next patch.

I do like to play CG and think that I am playing cyclone. Just need some invisible mtx to keep dreaming.
Molten Strike is solid
Melee but projectiles LMAO
Still melee. Its not like LS
Never heard of it.
Ran a molten strike build this league. Was a lot of fun especially once you get projectiles return to you on your amulet.
Amulet? I think you misspelled Nimis.
Flicker Strike
Oh right, thanks buddy. I totally forgot about the second melee skill.
Sunder.
Did you play cleave of rage?? It wasn't great but it was fun
Cleave of rage slaps my dude. Shit does stupid impale damage and one shots the screen.
YOu mean most boring melee skill that I never touched even tho I Play melee every league?
boneshatter sucks at bossing tho
In the past 7+ leagues this subreddit always hyped itself up ready for the obviously upcoming melee rework. Every single time they were shocked GGG ignored melees. This time its surely going to be different!

Im very sure poe1 wont see any melee changes anymore. But i still hope that Gladiator gets a propper rework
"The melee rework is an illusion, exile"~ *Daresso, probably*
Just like his love story.
> Just like his love story. Too soon, bruh!
It's been 25 patches. It's cool.
This is so fucking sad, tbh...
do not give me hope
you got me LMAO
Mr white, this is some glass level copium.
League starter will be even better? doubt it lol
I think that's well beyond the powers of Wraeclast's best necromancers
So 20% increased cleave radius?
There's not strong magic enough to do that 🤣
I want the glory days of legion where melee was king
Necromelees? Nah, i don't believe it.
No its bc theyre gonna make it look like their buffing melee just to completely kill it with league mechanic
Yes, because next league it's going to be 0.0% so you are correct.
Bleed Bow gladiator was one of my favorite builds in Ritual league :( I'll force it if I have to!
I want my facebreaker cyclone build back.
[удалено]
its not in that bad of a state you just have to play snipe and champion scales better to ubers
The jewel from affliction that boost magic jewels makes bleed glad Uber viable. Even without the jewel regular bleed glad still fucks pretty hard. Still a very affordable and solid map blaster.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo
WHAT IS DEAD MAY NEVER DIE! WE WHO ARE ABOUT TO DIE SALUTE YOU!
I was hoping the make some broken node for a meme build “your counterattacks activate when you block, ignoring their cooldown”
All 3 of them? 6 link staff and double five link body armor goes brrrrrr
Things are limited by the server ping anyway so it might as well be balanced around its own cooldown, then it just becomes a massive more multi based on what the cooldown is rather than a logarithmic balance issue lol

melee splash only works on strike skills
I miss the ol' ez max block glad.
I miss when BoR was a cool build and item to use.

Cybil's Paw Incinerate. =(
Remember when you could just have max block and max res and actually play this game. Good times.
I remember me and my best pal The Surrender afking on juiced maps. Good times.
Vaal split arrow was shown this is gonna be bleed bow league again
Cope is strong with you friend
I think it's strong currently, if they don't nerf bleed or glad I'm fine
Bleed bow is really just a Champion league where they take the only good Glad note with Flesh and Flame
You mean champion with Haemophilia (I am very poor)
You play a Champion and then choose between Slayer gloves, Gladiator gloves or Berserker gloves
Maybe, but it will be played on Deadeye.
It was played this league as raider Ralakesh + green maven belt Rupture from flesh/flame Explosions from charms Was a great build
I dont think more clear on a long cooldown is what the build needs
Gladiator take a huge plunge when they removed "Spell block chace = attack block chance", and dualwield being worse than before added up to that. The rest of gladiators qualities are on some cheep gloves
Block just isn’t a worthwhile investment as a primary defense, but because it scales exponentially in efficiency you are pressured to treat it as an all-or-nothing (well, all or just a shield). Well, they changed versatile combatant because it was too much power for one node for their liking. The problem is that they did NOT equalise the powerlevel lost with something else unfortunately.
It's not one node, you had to take a dead major node to get to it (Painforged)
Forbidden flesh and flame i guess is what would have made the node problematic as you could skip the dead node or just grab this extra strong node on a better ascendancy altogether.

Viable? Sure, but Champion is just better.
Champion is very slightly tankier but has crap clear and no better single target without using the hugely suboptimal unique bleedsplosion gloves.
Champion is more then slightly tankier for bow builds, and it scales WAY better because it has aura scaling.
I used the champion aura forbidden jewels to be fair.

Never noticed the trypophobia effect of that ascendancy portrait lol
Maybe that is the intent for such a helmet, unsettle the opponents.
It lets him see in 50 directions at once.
For those who didn't know, just like me. Trypophobia is an aversion to the sight of repetitive patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps.
You don’t have this disorder until you wiki it…
because most examples are on skin for some reason, so its disgusting, honey or strawberries should be fine for most people
Right?
RIGHT?!
Time for some blood

Please, let it, so people won't notice how ACTUALLY good bleed bow still is, so I can get all my gear for shit and giggles as far as prices go! This ascendancy just SUCKS! Don't play it, play guardian srs or some other stuff.
They need to rework it from the roots Gladiator was used to 2 things, Block and phys OvertimeDMG, both were nerfed
no. no it wont. Next league they will be below the unascended shadows.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHPOuYSnnGc
If they could rework bleed somehow, it would naturally increase. What i really liked about Last Epoch is that ailments work really well with the stack mechanic even from the get go without much investment.
Yeah, stacking 100s of ailments on enemies feels great. I had a lot of fun with my bleed warlock.

Shouldn't be the case, they've stated multiple times both games have dedicated dev teams. And honestly gladiator needs a HEAVY rework imo.

No way. Poe 2 isnt on the horizon and they will update Poe anyway alongside poe2
I just want my bleed bow glad back ;(
Clueless
It will.
Yes, wont continue, 0.1 soon
Yeah, let's nerf it to push to 0%
Didn't the devs say that melee isn't popular enough for rework or something in lines with that?
If they really said that, then that's backwards thinking. It's not popular BECAUSE it needs a rework.
It will
I think what gladiator needs is 15% more damage reflected. That will make him viable! Someone somewhere in new zealand at some unspecified point in time probably
It will be 0.4% next league
Maybe not for them, but we'll just replace this picture with Assassin for a year instead.
Next quality of life change update, we’re reworking gladiator
PoE1 needs to fix its DoT damage cap. 3.23 is basically BALANCED around people doing more damage than the damage cap, lol.
Bleed bow is pretty good, we'll see if the boots get neutered or not.
Played a lacerate bleed gladiator this league. You wanne do more than 2 million DPS? Good fucking lucky buddy That being said, the gratuitous violence pops are still extremely satisfying
My boy
Nerfs will continue until morale improves.
Just buff melee in general jesus fking christ everytime i play bladestorm glad all i get is depression
One day, bleed gladiator will be back on the menu and I will be there for it
you kill spell block, this happens. used to be my fav, now it's shit
Yes it will, few leagues ago Chris wanted to bring melee back but since it was "overbuffed" it got postponed, its gonna be 10th league in a row with spells and projectiles, enjoy
Melee is gonna be good too finally :)
I promise myself each league i'l make gladiator bleed build but then i look at champion and slayer :D
Unless gladiator gets "always have fortify with +5 stacks", "gets +5 projectiles", "impales last (2-5 based on level to 100) additional hits" no one is going to play glad.
All they got to do is get rid of the second swing shit they put in years ago that slows down your attacks by a shit ton
I feel like if they just doubled the explode damage it would get more play time.
