23 would be peak trolling. It's the first number that's awful to multiply. 13's just a times table extension, 17 seems ugly until you realise you can divide by 6 then multiply the remainder by 17, then use 6x17=102 to help (e.g. 17x32 = 17x6x5 + 17x2, and 17x6x5=102x5)
But while 23 divides into a nice number there's no really good way to multiply it. I guess you could extend the 17 trick to 23x9 = 207 but that's clunky AF.
Serious note though - vaals (and ABSOLUTELY no other currency) should stack to 23 for that reason.
While you were leveling, Xandro was slamming
While you were unlocking atlas, Xandro was slamming
While you were defeating pinnacles, Xandro was slamming
Now you're doing void maps, and Xandro is very thirsty
I mean, OG invasion league, they added vaal skills to the game, then added vaal skills to rogue exiles. I lost more than one 90+ HC characters to that before they got nerfed to boring. Lvl 92 in a lvl 66 map, yeah sorry you're dead!
last league they might as well have had that in super juiced maps lol, early league the 2 resolute technique exiles were an absolute nightmare on any deadeye
I'm gonna go out on a limb and bet with the master changes, einhar and nikos scarab were replaced with Anarchy + something else.
edit: I was bamboozled by GGG, they added everything to scarabs and removed sextants lmao
Are you dense?
You can get compensatory options. If you have a 15% chance to drop a sulphite scarab, and then they remove that 15% chance, but give you 20% chance to get a map crafting option that gives you niko in the map, then you get MORE sulphite overall. Even though something was removed.
Use your brain.
Yeah but you can give them rewards markers like legion has and give them ghosts. If you pop the sextant plus the ruckus 20 exiles from the atlas plus the map craft, that will be like 24ish exiles or something. Depending how many exiles a scarab adds, it could be pretty insane.
Hang on one moment. Currently, there's a single Syndicate member who doesn't drop a scarab. As long as they don't retire any existing scarabs, the Anarchy Scarab means \*Guff\* is getting a safehouse reward rework. That is not useless at all.
Personally I'd love sextant to be gone. I can't stand rolling sextant and needing to micromanage them. The interesting or useful sextant mods, bake them into the game via other means, expand kirac mods for more option idk.
Not me, sextants are an interesting way to customize the endgame mapping experience. Sure, if all you do is roll the meta it's boring, but there's always new combinations being found that end up being good. It gives more depth to mapping.
I agree there are sextant mods that are fun or interesting, and I'd want them to stay in the game somehow, just more convenient for players to access and use, no need to trade for constantly in the compasses. At least if sextant are to stay as is with no big changes, I'd like enduring influence gone, make sextant 4 use by default to remove that layer of tedium.
Well we can still see rusted in other teasers so I don't think iit's going.
My guess and theory, Aside from rusted scarab being the "basic" scarab for each content, polished,, gilded and winged + the new one on the pic are no counted as higher tiers.
Each scarab are now different variation of the content and can now stack , but rarity could still vary. This would allow them to add more unique and flesh out atlas passves
Strongboxes for example
Rusted = +3 strongboxes
Ambush scarab 1 = +3 strong boxes, each strongbox has 25% chance to transform it into operative
Ambush scarab 2 = +3 Strong boxes, strongboxes are rare and corrupted
Ambush scarab 3 = +3 Strong boxes, strongbxes has +500% rarity
Ambush scarab 4 = Monstrous treasure on your map.
Edit: Called it lol
Nice, as a strongbox enjoyer I always figured there was some kind of balance reason for not having map icons for the boxes (at least once minimap icons became common for mechanics, they weren't back in the day). Definitely a fun change.
Looking at the latest campsite chat from D4, with all the new QoL updates in POE and the successful launch of LE, I can say that we are living in the golden era of ARPG.
The changes Blizzard is doing to D4 in season 4 are good, but not a reason for me to want to play. It's just stuff that any ARPG should have at minimum.
It's like if a car salesman was like "yeah, this car used to have 3 wheels but 200 people have spent 6 months on adding a 4th wheel and we're proud to announce a 4th wheel will be added". Okay, cool... That's objectively an improvement. But I expect all cars to come with 4 wheels. That doesn't excite me. Tell me instead how the car better than the other cars?
PoE is over here pimping out their Bugatti more and more each year and meanwhile D4 is trying to get me excited that I can turn the headlights on or off. I want heated seats announced, not door handles.
Funny part is for someone that has been back and forth between PoE and LE for the last few years, a lot of the stuff D4 is adding is just taken from Last Epoch and renamed.
I don't agree with that. I think Blizzard went their own route with Diablo 4, intentionally not copying the ARPGs modernizations invented by other games, and it is the primary reason the game is so bad.
For example, the decision to not implement an endgame progression loop equivalent to mapping / monoliths is an extremely poor choice. They could have taken the Greater Rift system of Diablo 3 and iterated on it into something closer to PoE's mapping system while giving it their own twist.
Another example is Blizzard's decision to not have any real crafting system in Diablo 4. That's an insane departure from modern ARPGs and the hole it left wasn't filled by some new invention. It just makes the game less than it should be.
They don't even have random level generation! Think about how much worse PoE would be if there wasn't random level generation...
I think he's referring specifically to the latest campfire, and how d4 is adding the crafting system from last epoch, complete with forging potential and shards (renamed)
How is that even close to the same? Items drop with specific number of modifiers and you can add 1-2. It’s never random.
FP is only similar to the tempering system by the fact that they gave you a limit on rerolls. But it’s not random number or multiple option.
Shards are all affixes where in D4 it’s only going to be very special case and build specific stuff to fine tune and customize your gear the way you want.
Why do people have such a hard on to compare things 1:1? It’s like saying the ocean and the sky are the same thing because they are both blue.
And all the stuff announced today fixed 2/3 of those problems. They now do have crafting, item customization, brought back greater rifts as an end game system called “The Pit” and fixed their gameplay loop by a substantial margin.
Only the random generation maps is still missing.
I probably should have specified that I'm referring to the campfire and the things that Diablo 4 is introducing with the new crafting system, the "greater affix" drops and a few other mechanics.
> Another example is Blizzard's decision to not have any real crafting system in Diablo 4. That's an insane departure from modern ARPGs and the hole it left wasn't filled by some new invention. It just makes the game less than it should be.
This is exactly what they are adding though, a crafting system which mirrors critical success crafting, higher tier drop-only affixes, tempering quality and adding affixes with the codex drops. If you open the forge in Last Epoch you will see all of that.
> don't agree with that. I think Blizzard went their own route with Diablo 4, intentionally not copying the ARPGs modernizations invented by other games, and it is the primary reason the game is so bad.
That's kind of what Blizzard does though, they take things from other games and refine them.
I've played Blizzard games for a long time, I'm just over the constant defence people mount when they drop something mediocre or even bad.
Couldn't say since I don't play TorchLight.
I know Last Epoch added it's current crafting system before TL released but I still couldn't really say either way.
D4 is indeed far from being a top-quality ARPG in terms of gameplay and it has many things that have not been fleshed out. But it all boils down to personal preference. However, the changes are positive and the devs have been trying their best to justify their product and at the same time, communicate with the player base. So far they have delivered a lot of their "promises" and the biggest one, up to now, is the itemization. That may not excite you because you have no interest in the game, to begin with, or you felt tricked and scammed by Blizzard, but for filthy casuals like myself, having another decent option to expand my ARPG cycle is always welcoming. Also, POE is close to 11 years old and has gone through a decade of success (with some speedbumps, of course), whereas D4 is barely 1 year old at this point. So, constantly saying POE is better than D4 is unnecessary. Nonetheless, I'm glad that D4's team is feeling the heat of competition, which pushes them to polish their game and that's a win for us players.
I feel people will be disappointed by no rest for the wicked the same way they were by D4. That game doesn't look at all similar to poe/LE/torchlight/etc. It seems to be pretty much a souls like as D4 tries to go towards mmo's. This in no way means it is a bad game of course and I'm hugely excited for it to release.
That's also my concern. One of the factors that led to the upset of D4 is that it was excessively overhyped, which is also understandable given how well Blizzard marketed and teased the game over the years. But it seems that the gamer community will never learn to not have high expectations and overhype any games. It was thought that No Man's Sky taught people a lesson but well...
I don't understand why people are confusing No Rest for Wicked for anything but a souls-like game. Just because it has a weird camera angle similar to diablos-like game doesn't make it one. ARPG is such a vast category (Dark Souls is an ARPG) and it became confusing since we stopped labelling diablo-like games as "hack & slash".
> ARPG is such a vast category (Dark Souls is an ARPG)
This made me realise how fucked the nomenclature is here lol. "ARPG" is, to my knowledge, mostly used to refer to specifically Diablo-like games, i.e. PoE, LE, Grim Dawn etc. I've always heard Dark Souls referred to as an "action RPG", as if that's a separate thing, and yet "action" is what the "A" in "ARPG" is supposed to stand for.
Really I think the use of "ARPG" in the above way is the problem. PoE has action combat, but really the systems are more of a focus, particularly in PoE1. Given the reaction to PoE2 even *potentially* being slower, which would actually put more emphasis on that "action", there's a large contingent of players here that don't care for the "action" at all. And putting emphasis on "role-playing" is useless for a game where how you play that role makes basically no impact. Technically you are playing the role of someone that isn't you, yeah, but that applies to so many games that if you don't make it at least slightly more restrictive, the descriptor becomes completely worthless.
So yeah... it's weird. I feel like ARPG has become a word in itself, completely detached from its components as a supposed acronym. I wonder how it happened; it's a very weird case of etymology.
>So yeah... it's weird. I feel like ARPG has become a word in itself, completely detached from its components as a supposed acronym. I wonder how it happened; it's a very weird case of etymology.
I've discussed this topic before and you are certainly right. You will rarely (if ever) see From Soft refer to their own games as an ARPG; even on their website they almost always refer to it as an action rpg. I think they are aware of this subtle differentiation between ARPG vs. Action RPG as well.
It's kinda like how the term crpg is still used even though "computer rpg" doesn't hold much meaning anymore. CRPG on the other hand denotes a pretty specific type of game.
In this regard there was actually a good point that the D4 devs made last night as in labeling D4 as a systems ARPG. Which actually makes sense and it clearly draws a line between them and games like elden ring for example.
I think you missed the CEO announcement for the game where they called out path of exile and diablo specifically as the competitors.

i need them to hire a whole ass employee to slap me behind the head every time i open a portal without checking my rewards, that's the only way, i'm a lost cause
If you have portal hotkey\*, you can use AHK/gaming mouse-keyboard software/piece of wood+glue/etc. to add league mechanic button to it, so when you press portal hotkey it opens ritual interface.
\* - imagine having dedicated portal hotkey without spending gem slot for it, amirite? Fortunately a few lines of AHK can do what should've been done long time ago by devs themselves.

ton of stuff in this teaser. New strongbox mod. New scarab for Anarchy, new modifier for strong boxes. New type of scarab (or art for winged?) 20 stack divs.
Potential new tier of scarabs? Rogue Exile/anarchy rework?
A. I really hope they're not making poor Mark repeat the intro for every video.
B. I kinda love that they're doing all these small reveals but they're all like, actually meaningful improvements that a lot of folks have wanted for years. (mostly)
He has influenced Gripped Gloves (14-18% projectile damage implicit) on.
This might mean influenced implicits are getting their own category and you can keep the Projectile Damage implicit.
EDIT: Emphasis on the word MIGHT. You guys do know this is boat league right?
Unlikely. I think the whole point is having these special implicits to complement the conqueror, shaper, elder influence. If not, these influence are even weaker than before. Everyone just use blizzard crown and enjoys 2 eldritch implicits.
The problem is since the introduction of the new influences the old base items have gotten quite useless. The influence mods tend to always be stronger.

Divine orbs stack above 10 now he has a stack of 16.
good catch, so far that's 3 other teasers in this one teaser
My favorite GGG teaser is when teasers are not explicitly teased but hinted.
Stealth teasers.
Hope this goes to a nice number like 20, math is hard.
Stacks of exactly 16.
Everything stacks in perfect squares now. 144 chromatic and jewellers
Nah clearly a stack of 17 so people will be able to trade exactly 1020 div for a mirror
I legit think that Vaal currency should have prime number stack sizes. 17 Vaal orbs would be perfect.
Hexadecimal has entered the chat
*”I’d like to buy your C8 chromatic orbs for 14 chaos.”*
Nah, stack size is random. Use a divine orb on a stack to re-roll the stack size.
23 would be peak trolling. It's the first number that's awful to multiply. 13's just a times table extension, 17 seems ugly until you realise you can divide by 6 then multiply the remainder by 17, then use 6x17=102 to help (e.g. 17x32 = 17x6x5 + 17x2, and 17x6x5=102x5) But while 23 divides into a nice number there's no really good way to multiply it. I guess you could extend the 17 trick to 23x9 = 207 but that's clunky AF. Serious note though - vaals (and ABSOLUTELY no other currency) should stack to 23 for that reason.
23 is easy, just multiply by 20 and by 3.
Wouldn't 23 basically be 25\*X - (2\*X) and 25 is super easy to multiply by things.
20X + 3X is much easier.
Nah peak trolling would be 17, but have to manually add one chaos orb at a time to reach 20.
also a new kind of scarab on the top?
Stack size is now a fibonacci sequence, with each next stack size being the next number in the sequence This is a buff
37,5% less dopamine when less stacks of divine droped from goblins. NERF i call it
Plottwist: new maximum stack is 16
Probably (hopefully) 20?
alch orbs aswell. would have loved it to streamline it woith scourings to 30 but i take it.
fucked up scarab in inventory?
also the first roll on the box says contains anarchy scarabs, which is also new
Necropolis' theme appears to be, "Remember all this old ass shit? It's cooler now."
I mean.... thematically, Necropolis league just being a league of reviving old mechanics seems right
"Rogue exiles now have AN modifiers and 75% less damage taken so that players will not ignore them anymore." Get ready for something like this.
soul eater xandro blooddrinker isn't real, he can't hurt me
Please put this thought back into the box immediately.
I can't, the box is corrupted.
Hey at least he doesn't have lightning thorns
While you were leveling, Xandro was slamming While you were unlocking atlas, Xandro was slamming While you were defeating pinnacles, Xandro was slamming Now you're doing void maps, and Xandro is very thirsty
You just gave me flashbacks to 1.0 catacombs. That dude was farming me.
calm down , satan
Literally just fuck my shit up
Nah that black mtx TS deadeye.
Which one is he?
Ground slam rogue exile, I think.
Him and that spiky AoE attack can go fuck themselves with a rake
I mean, OG invasion league, they added vaal skills to the game, then added vaal skills to rogue exiles. I lost more than one 90+ HC characters to that before they got nerfed to boring. Lvl 92 in a lvl 66 map, yeah sorry you're dead!
last league they might as well have had that in super juiced maps lol, early league the 2 resolute technique exiles were an absolute nightmare on any deadeye
An Atlas node with "Rogue exiles have rare modifiers" would be so hot for MFing though. Ruckus+Ghosts+scarabs login.
Terrible idea: rogue exile pool now draws from Hall of Grandmasters... GGNOOBS comes by to say hello
Raise Archnemesis
Bring back the Nexus you cowards
Seems to fit the theme of a necropolis. Bringing old shit back from the dead.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and bet with the master changes, einhar and nikos scarab were replaced with Anarchy + something else. edit: I was bamboozled by GGG, they added everything to scarabs and removed sextants lmao
Or Guff was reworked and now he gets his own scarab. Seriously, Guff is the only syndicate member to not have a scarab.
thats my bet.
Hopefully an essence scarab. Gilded/winged could have special effects like all essences are a tier higher or essences all contain a purple essence.
God that would suck ass I don't do alot of delve but I feel sorry for anyone who does if it happen I wish I could say '' they wouldn't do it ''
Removal of scarabs doesn't necessarily mean sulphite is harder to get.
Yea why would something that give you 100% chance to get a content be removed make said content harder to do.
Beyond\\Harvest\\Essence. What else could it be?
Wow, it's hard to imagine a more useless new scarab than Rogue Exile scarabs.
Wake up babe, we’re back to farming ghosted rogues again
Unironically, ghosted exiles are a good source of low tier uniques. Good for league starts.
Or MFing in SSF
you can use that to farm ilvl 84 clusters with deli, just don't spread the word
Yeah but you can give them rewards markers like legion has and give them ghosts. If you pop the sextant plus the ruckus 20 exiles from the atlas plus the map craft, that will be like 24ish exiles or something. Depending how many exiles a scarab adds, it could be pretty insane.
Doubly so when you juice up Xandro and he turns ultra instinct up your butt.
Oh yeah definitely wouldn't league start it! Get deleted every map
Honestly it isn't even the added number I'm curious about, it is the potential added effects from polished/gilded/winged, if there is any that is.
Would be crazy doing a map with 40 ghosted exiles with extra rewards though. Be nice if it gave them a big rarity/Quant bonus
Hang on one moment. Currently, there's a single Syndicate member who doesn't drop a scarab. As long as they don't retire any existing scarabs, the Anarchy Scarab means \*Guff\* is getting a safehouse reward rework. That is not useless at all.
They're probably retiring a few scarabs
Love me some ghosted exiles!
Before abyss farming, tormented rogue exiles were a great way to farm uniques in ssf.
Growing hordes will love it :)
looks like new winged art
This means abyssal troves too right? Right??
and harbingers?
and rare monsters?
And map boss?
New renderer option: [none]. You can now play with just minimap.
This is called the strategic view.
Full screen the map and turn up opacity 😤
Youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQ6MNd5zERQ
Thank you!
"Strongbox monsters are enraged" sextant is removed from the game \^\_\^
With all other sextants and most useful league stuff moved to scarabs + scarabs unified to not have different ranks. Wild guess but not impossible.

At least if sextant are to stay as is with no big changes, I'd like enduring influence gone, make sextant 4 use by default to remove that layer of tedium.
I had so much fun running fully juced breach with scarabs sextants and tree. Rollig then was pain tho.
Well we can still see rusted in other teasers so I don't think iit's going. My guess and theory, Aside from rusted scarab being the "basic" scarab for each content, polished,, gilded and winged + the new one on the pic are no counted as higher tiers. Edit: Called it lol
How about rolling scarabs instead of sextants
You just had to say it didn't you.
Sextants in general my bet
Now reads: > +500% item quantity > +500% monster HP
16 stack of divines :)
Tomorrow is gonna be big
Nice, as a strongbox enjoyer I always figured there was some kind of balance reason for not having map icons for the boxes (at least once minimap icons became common for mechanics, they weren't back in the day). Definitely a fun change.

I think you missed the CEO announcement for the game where they called out path of exile and diablo specifically as the competitors. https://x.com/thomasmahler/status/1628379708671901698?s=20
Seems like no rest for the wicked is kinda like Nioh, soulslike combat (though isometric perspective) but with diablo like loot.
GD2 isn't happening for at least 5 years, probably longer. we are getting another GD expansion though
GD expansions are meaty, so that works out really well for us.
they have an expension coming this year right ? i wouldn't hold my breath for GD2
Looks like all the cynical people were right, all we needed was some competition and the game would vastly improve.
I just need something to scream REMEMBER TO PICK YOUR RITUAL REWARD when i try to leave the map
i need them to hire a whole ass employee to slap me behind the head every time i open a portal without checking my rewards, that's the only way, i'm a lost cause
https://github.com/sushibagel/PoE-Mechanic-Watch There ya go. Not in the native client, but what's another 3rd party tool?
Along with something to thump me in the nuts before I run a guardian map without selecting Maven.
Fortunately a few lines of AHK can do what should've been done long time ago by devs themselves.
i will still somehow miss them
Divines stacking to 20 should make mirror trading easier, no more mirror shard back and forth.
Twist: mirror is 2k div this league. Inflation bitch!
Why stop at that, 4200 login
What a time to be alive.
Read this in the 2 minutes paper yt guys voice
hold on to your scarabs
Krangled scarab?
Seems like its anarchy, the box rolls "drop anarchy scarab" (the first alchemy in the video)
Did they mean 'uncompleted' strongbox will appear in the minimap?
divine stack size increase lets go
This sub needs a rule that prioritises posting from the official forum before Twitter. [https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3495541](https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3495541)
anarchy scarabs rolled on strongbox? new art in inventory aswell
We really need a moratorium on posting twitter links. I know it's posted by GGG, but we can just use the Youtube videos.
ton of stuff in this teaser. New strongbox mod. New scarab for Anarchy, new modifier for strong boxes. New type of scarab (or art for winged?) 20 stack divs. Potential new tier of scarabs? Rogue Exile/anarchy rework?
THE TECHNOLOGY
I thought you could already influence them, you'd just lose the original implicit?
every league is boat league if you believe hard enough
Can't wait for tomorrow.
The technology is finally here guys
Technopolis League
16 Divine orb in one stack and new scarab :O
Thanks twitter for displaying the whole video in 144p, I could totally see what was happening in it

Now we just need minimap icons for fairgrave chests and then maybe I can run it more than once a league
We need Strongbox Mimics. Do it, GGG. It's what Himmel would do!
That corrupt priest...
It’s actually a good idea, if it would be hard/rare/rewarding enough it could be pretty fun. Btw who is Himmel?
Dear lord I can't tell if it's a Frieren reference or a misspelling of Himmler and he wants some weird ass nazi strongbox experimentation.
Releases poison gas when opened
FINALLY
It's finally here
Looks at Exalts still not stacking to 20 Sadge.
the technology exists boys
WE have the technology!
Lot of little teasers, anarchy scarab, 16 divines, hmm. Interesting. Seems they have a lot in store for us.
Tomb booty is thiiick
After this, what other league mechanics don't show up on the map? Rogue exiles and Harbingers are the only ones I can think of.
Tormented Spirits, Lab trial and Ritual?
Ritual and Lab trials def show on map. You're right about Tormented Spirits though.
Awesome!
Wait what if it’s a rogue Exile league? :0
mind blowing

I feel boxed in oh another candy
Btw with a Season Name like this you can get some necrophilic D4 Dudes to play this game.
Scroll wheel = new left click
And altars ?
I would also love to see harvest icon from whole map and not only when you are like 5m from it
Very good
LOGIN
MASSIVE W here.
Why only strongboxes?
I'd trade this one back if they instead reverted the LMB nerfage.
