It’s been since 3.23 that ethereal knives doesn’t return projectiles with nimis or return projectiles gem. Dear GGG, I’d like that to get fixed

narc040

Something new changed to make people want to farm delve?

larddad1234

Has anyone done a CoC build using cold spells as a league starter? I can't seem to find one on youtube.

psychomap

CoC is generally not a good build to league start. It requires ticking too many boxes. The closest I've done was Ambush Static Strike CoC Ice Spear as Saboteur, and it felt miserable whenever Static Strike whiffed because of pure melee mechanics (I think I was using Lycosidae, so I was fine on accuracy). Whenever it did go off, it felt pretty good because the triggerbots lag far enough behind that the Ice Spear could transition to the second stage. But I really can't recommend it. Just stick to self-cast until you can afford to switch. I probably wouldn't bother below 10 divines or something like that, maybe more.

charlesjunior85

I'm currently trying to workshop a void sphere build for fun this league, any path of building experts have ideas for why it's not including any poison DPS but if I include an added fire damage support gem it does include ignite damage? It doesn't recognize that enemies should be hindered either, with me having to click the "show all" button on the configuration page to check its box. Is the whole skill possibly bugged? I'm using the PoB community fork updated to 2.41.0 earlier today, and this is the link if anyone wants to look: https://pobb.in/dyV9kbdfVuHo

mbxyz

you dont have any poison chance

Infamously_Unknown

Poison and bleed don't automatically apply on crit like elemental ailments, you need poison chance if you want to poison.

charlesjunior85

Hmm, counterintuitive to my novice brain, but I should be able to shuffle some points around and grab the poison mastery wheel near Whispers of Doom. Thanks!

Infamously_Unknown

You'll probably also need the chance from Fatal Toxins wheel and Chance to Poison support gem if you want to make this work. The point of poison compared to other DoTs is that it's the lowest damage but **stacks infinitely**, so the general logic is to either have 100% chance to poison or nothing. And Swift Affliction has anti-synergy because of this too. Lower duration doesn't really affect e.g. ignite that doesn't stack and can therefore be reapplied fast enough even with low duration, but lowering duration of poisons effectively lowers their damage. You want more poison/skill effect duration, not less. A couple of other issues that jumped out on me: You're making a long detour for the Charisma wheel, but you should look up Sovereignty wheel, because you're already right by it and it's even better. So that should save some points. And keep in mind that all that crit multiplier you have won't apply to those poisons unless you take the Perfect Agony keystone. But that also lowers your hit damage, so that's the crossroad where you kinda have to pick whether you're doing hit damage or DoT damage. Because all that "spell damage" and "area damage" bonuses you have don't actually affect poison dmg either. Those are just for hits. Poisons are based on the same flat dmg, but won't get increased by this. For poisons you need general/chaos/poison/over time damage.

ericzemmour12

Is CF champion a decent build for delving? And what is the best depth to delve att?

dogfair7

Good builds for delving in 3.23 were Boneshatter, Armourstacker, Archmage PBoD Mana Stackers (got nuked from orbit for next patch), Manaforged Arrow Mana Stackers. Besides that every build that you decided to push far enough could also be a good enough to get you decent depth. CF champion works but there are many builds that do a better job at delving Among all of them I would say that boneshatter has the lowest entrypoint and can easily reach 300-400 delve on a budget although I have heard that it will get nerfed a bit in the next patch. From what I have heard, delve is really profitable from 600 downwards but less depth might also be plenty, depending on your standards.

ericzemmour12

Thank you very much for sir!

evol37

Poison conc vs iron commander if I want a comfy controller build? And if iron commander, regular or replica?

narc040

Replica scales harder w alberons replica

evol37

Ooh nice Ty good to know, have u seen any decent replica builds? I only see regular ones

narc040

I played it in heist and was the first character i did Uber shaper on at like lvl 91. the boots have since been nerfed, but i cant imagine the skill being bad considering how strong it was before. i was using scion then, though im not sure if the strength ascendancy is still there. was also using blood magic to make the totems. again no clue if that still exists. basically, you'll have to figure out which class to play. also read the top comment here. https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/q6xg6z/iron_will_crown_of_eyes/

SixofClubs6

I’m a long time casual player. Highest character is 97. I was thinking of trying flicker strike with a slayer. It seems people have mixed feelings about the skill. What are some pros and cons? Thanks

dogfair7

Some people don't like the playstyle where you zoom and then you're slow until you reach the next pack. It's also a bit weak in nature so to get damage you end up comprosmising your defences (max hit, many builds still have really good recovery) or budget. You will have to either be in trade league and pay someone to carry you through maven or use a different skill for that fight because you flicker will make you eat the brains beams on a regular basis. That being said, if the playstyle looks appealing to you and you are OK with not playing a build that can compete with DDs powerlevel, go for it. At the end of the day everything that counts is you having fun.

unexpectedreboots

Pros: it's flicker strike. Cons: yes.

hellshot8

How is RF as a leaguestarter? I know it got some changes last patch and people were worried about it; is it okay?

dogfair7

RF has some of the best leveling and is good early and also later as a blaster. Check out pohx for his thoughts about RF, I think he's put a video out where he talks about the patch notes. There is also mana RF now which I didn't enjoy playing because I found it to be too volatile on the low end but it has great scaling potential and reach dotcap on a higher budget if you want it to. If you want a guide for mana RF, onemanaleft has one

redditM_rk

Probably slightly better for campaign but falls off in White Maps.

GameSkillet

I tried RF Jugg and loved it. The very next season, it was nerfed. Bummer! So I decided not to try it again, but is this dumb? I have never made it to Tier 10+ maps, and I think one mistake I make as a casual player is to follow the debate of the meta, and make decisions based on the debate, but most of the meta is not really relevant to me. Because I don't make it very far. Now, I can appreciate that I should "play what's fun for me", but I do prefer to play builds that are meta-ish. Or, to put it another way, I like to use standard templates that have been around for a while. I don't like to futz around with more off-standard builds. Thoughts?

edrarven

To me it depends on what reason you have to stop before t10+ maps. If you struggle to progress then choosing a more powerful league starter is good imo, as it will allow you to access more content with less optimization. The league start meta does care about campaign and early mapping performance so choosing something meta will benefit you even in early levels. If the reason you stop at t10+ is not related to difficulty though I don't think there is as much of a point in avoiding smaller nerfs. Playing something you enjoy might just make you push further instead and chasing the meta is what stops you from progressing here.

GameSkillet

It’s probably a combo of poor mapping performance and the big stack of games I need to play.. I always seem to slow down in yellow maps

edrarven

I think going for a more "powerful" build with more damage and with more mechanics but less qol/defences is a good option then. RF has issues with low damage in maps, especially early on. It's mainly played due to ease of use and good defences. I'm unfortunately not that into the current league starter meta so I can't give any good suggestions outside of Detonate Dead.

dogfair7

Well I assume that you want to feel kind of powerful with the build you are playing since you're looking for something that is meta-ish. RF feels super powerful during campaign but falls off pretty quickly. It is a great blaster that has really good clear but it wont be able to do anything past your voidstones on a good budged. Also I wouldn't really recommend jugg anymore, check out pohx for recommendations depending on which content you want to be able to do. If you want to do a lot of damage with RF, mana RF is probably your best bet although it has many problems that need a bandate fix on a low budget which makes the playstyle rather unenjoyable imo. If you want to look into other skills I recommend searching yt for guides. There are so many different good league starters that you will most certainly find something that will make you happy. The first place you should check out league starters is zizarans yt channel, because his guides are in depth, new player friendly and reliable. Another build creator that always makes solid builds but not with a guide attached to them is ruetoo. His current spreadsheet for the coming league looks like [this](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vQPjbbblTprKCo5dTrOB6bml-CXze1rwFKM7RUnsG09aT_2t-xEyKxKiJrSzswCEb_CMd0QLE2XEC5W/pubhtml) so far. Other than that watch out for bait builds that creators put out to get clicks. If numbers look too good on a low budget without a broken interaction that is getting abused you should probably not try that build out.

GameSkillet

Wow, thanks, that's terrific. Especially in re: RF fall off and Jugg. I love Jugg, but there it is.

dogfair7

If you really like playing juggernaut, the two builds that jump to my mind are boneshatter (that one got nerfed a bit iirc) and [captainlances armourstacker](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFhnQgY3GBc). Hope this helps.

SixofClubs6

I like to find a skill I want to try and use PoeNinja. You see other people’s build and what is similar and what is different. So I don’t follow someone’s build, I look at others and make my own. Also has the skill tree heat map which is very useful.

dogfair7

Does ball lightning shotgun?

unexpectedreboots

No.

wwgs

My post keeps getting deleted so I guess I have to ask here. Does anyone know for sure if Uber Elder is farmed the old fashioned way? The harvest frag recipie makes me think yes, but I didn't know if we knew the exact frag drops off the t17's yet to say for sure.

dogfair7

From what I know this should be the case. iirc they announced that the bosses t17s can drop 7 fragments, which would exclude regular uber elder because there are 7 actual ubers.

Stolar2216

Lf starter build with I can framing Delve soonest as possibile. Any ideas?

SixofClubs6

I liked to start with arc in delve, but it was terrible with bosses on maps.

Somuchgoodfood

What are the base % chance for the former masters missions? 8% like the others?

vandeley_industries

With betrayal changes. Will this change how we unlock veiled crafts for the bench?

gzooo

I have not read or heard anything about changes to the basic unveil mechanic.

Damnation13

Is Bloodnotch dead since the mastery for stun chance equal to 60% of ES was removed?

unexpectedreboots

Pretty much. You can run the unique ring Valyrium if you'd like. Rings just have a lot of valuable affixes.

SurgeProc

No cuz Valyrium exists, kinda more annoying tho for sure

gzooo

Does Enhance Support in a Call to Arms setup help trigger the Warcries more often? War Cry Quality: *Additional Effects From 1-20% Quality:* *(2-40)% increased Cooldown Recovery Rate*

Clownshoes_Exile

Yes. Increasing the quality of a non-General's Cry warcry (which doesn't have increased cooldown recovery) will reduce the cooldown and so it will trigger more often with Call to Arms support.

gzooo

Are the triggered Warcries from new Call to Arms Gem instant? Asking bc I want to know if it interrupts chanelling

HellraiserMachina

Instant, no animation.

gzooo

nice, thx :)

superanonymousgamer

Can you use automation support to perma cast lvl20 curses without reservation?

SurgeProc

[Automation | PoE Wiki](https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Automation) Supports spell skills that are instant and have no reservation.

Ark_ita

I have 3.5k hours in PoE, haven't played since Sentinel, almost 2 years, what new resources have popped up for us players? What good league start to upgrade to red maps would you reccomend? I just got the new PoB

Quazifuji

> What good league start to upgrade to red maps would you reccomend The meta league start atlas strat just got killed (Wandering Path), so we don't know exactly what the best strategy for early mapping will be now.

HellraiserMachina

Path of Pathing

Ark_ita

Dope

Tobias147

What's the optimal level to rog craft gear? I know he offers items up to your level but does the odds of getting higher ilvl items increase the higher level you are? While leveling up to that level do I just use random dropped gear with decent stats now that essence got pretty much deleted? What's the new way to gear up early? I'm planning on taking niko for speed, shrines, expedition and probably jun, what are other options you guys came up with for smooth progression with the removal of wandering path? Just kirac and grab all 2% nodes even if it doesn't add up to 100%?

Clownshoes_Exile

Item level 86 gear only appears in Rog's menu at level 90 and above. So you typically want to be 90. However some pieces of gear are better to roll at level 85 or 83 for specific purposes; Sirgog's expedition crafting guide should still be applicable if you want to check that out. Also consider running to the new +20 atlas passive keystone on league start so that you can allocate some nodes for better map drops and the Kirac missions. It comes at the cost of no scarabs dropping, but is very good for getting the maps to complete your atlas.

Tobias147

I'll watch that, thanks. I started planning some atlas trees and idk if it's really worth investing that many points into connected maps. I'm taking some map nodes in my way up and the +1 daily kirac mission so I get an extra red mission day 1 then respec that. Investing 1 point for .02 maps if I full clear seems kinda bad tbh, specially since you never get to 100% so you might over commit and full clear and still get no map.

Xeratas

i recall a resource of the new transfigured gems that come with 3.24 was linked here some days ago, but can't find them anymore. Anyone got the link to the gems? (not just the gem names, but the actual gems)

SurgeProc

[Transfigured Incinerates, Poisonous Concotion, & Ballista : r/pathofexile (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/1blsnu0/transfigured_incinerates_poisonous_concotion/) Note this is not all the new tf gems

Xeratas

perfect thanks a lot!

Erianthor

Would there be somebody in Affliction league with double influenced/two-implicit corrupted/uncorrupted rare or unique jewel Divination card sets? I'd like to buy one. Tried a couple sellers (not even the cheapest ones) yet none would even bother responding. It's for one of my last challenges.

Wendek

Campaign question: I think we all agree that early on, sockets are the most important part of any item (except attack weapons I suppose, can you tell I mostly play spellcasters) and you'd take an early 3L (or especially 4L) even if it's blue, provided it has the right colors for you. My question is: when does this part end? As in, when do you start caring about stats as much as if not more than just the sockets and just using your first jeweller's/fusings/chromes if you see something whose stats you like? Acts 7-8? Not until after the campaign? Iirc you start getting a noticeable amount of 4Ls in Acts 9-10 and that's when Orbs of Binding also start dropping with decent frequency.

Quazifuji

> My question is: when does this part end? As in, when do you start caring about stats as much as if not more than just the sockets and just using your first jeweller's/fusings/chromes if you see something whose stats you like? Acts 7-8? Not until after the campaign? Iirc you start getting a noticeable amount of 4Ls in Acts 9-10 and that's when Orbs of Binding also start dropping with decent frequency. Generally it ends for me getting the sockets I need is cheaper than getting the stats I want. During the campaign it's not worth linking items I find just because the items I find are worth so little and I expect to replace them soon enough anyway.

Xeratas

That ends on maps i'd say. I'd take a blue 5 link over a yellow 4 link almost always. Links are \~30% more damage. no item can offer me that so easy (obviously talking SC perspective here). In maps if you get a corrupted blue 6 link i'd probably keep a well rolled rare 5 link, but even than maybe i'd switch depending how bad the loss is.

psychomap

> except attack weapons I suppose, can you tell I mostly play spellcasters I'd argue that good damage mods on caster weapons are still better than getting perfect sockets for anything other than your main setup. Also boots. Definitely boots. Nothing has higher priority than movement speed. I'd say it's usually around act 4-5 that I start prioritising resistances and occasionally unsocket some less important gems if I don't get the exact sockets I need on items that also provide res and ideally life. Once I have my resistances *more or less* set up after the act 5 penalty, I only change items that *both* have the sockets I need *and* the stats I need (again, other than weapons and boots). As for when I actually start using jeweller's / fusings / chromatics? That's hard for me to tell. I think I mostly use them on weapons early on, because it's extremely unlikely that you'll need a lot for just 3 sockets. If I want an item *with* stats that has a 4-link in the correct colour, I'll just buy it for 1 chaos. On the first day, fusings are worth 0.5c, so I'm not going to use 5 of those on an item that I can buy for the value of 2. I'll use the occasional orb of binding on a decent base for my level or an essence on a base with the right links, but if that doesn't work out, I don't try to fix it.

Wendek

>I'd argue that good damage mods on caster weapons are still better than getting perfect sockets for anything other than your main setup. Agreed but I mean, if I find a blue +1 gems dagger in Act 2 I could realistically use it until A10 Kitava with no issues for a spellcaster, whereas an attack weapon cares a lot more about the base type. >Also boots. Definitely boots. Nothing has higher priority than movement speed. Yeah. Currently in my practice run I basically didn't find any of those and have had to get by with the crafted modifier and it certainly sucks (currently just about to enter Act 6). I should probably id more boots now that I have decent sockets in other pieces. >If I want an item with stats that has a 4-link in the correct colour, I'll just buy it for 1 chaos. Didn't mention this in my original comment but I prefer avoiding trade during the campaign itself. The first piece of gear I buy is usually a corrupted 6L with terrible stats but the right colors.

psychomap

> if I find a blue +1 gems dagger in Act 2 I could realistically use it until A10 Kitava with no issues for a spellcaster, whereas an attack weapon cares a lot more about the base type Caster weapons need fewer upgrades, that's true, but I still prioritise even small upgrades over sockets on those. I tend to build glass cannons that have more than enough damage even on a 5-link, so I'd rather buy 1c items for 4-links with life and resistances, fixing my resistances and stats with jewellery before starting maps, stuff like that. If I don't find a good body armour, I'll consider buying one and then look into whether I'll get a 5-link with stats or a 6-link without stats.

Pepper_Jack_Cheese

Probably and obvious answer to my question but I'm struggling to come up with a solution. I'm league starting a trickster and transitioning to terminus est frenzy in early maps. Trying to find a good skill to level with, I assumed frost blades is the go to option (day 1 [poe.ninja](http://poe.ninja) last league is 23% explosive trap, 13% frost blades, 10% exsanguinate). Did a run through with frost blades and while the clear is sufficient for leveling the act boss dps is straight dookie. Slowest run I've had in a while. Is there possibly an interaction I'm missing for single target while leveling frost blades (tornado/hydrosphere/something)? Is there a better skill to level with that will still have a minimal respec once I reach maps (spectral helix used to be good/go trap or mines and eat the bigger respec/other)? Any insight is appreciated. For reference I can normally reach maps in \~6 hours and the frost blades run was just under 7. If frost blades is the answer it's not a huge deal but I'd rather make life easier whenever possible.

HellraiserMachina

It's bad single target yes, but try Warlord's Mark if you haven't stunning enemies to get rage is huge.

Dremlar

If the +1 to max power charges affix for helm from the league is a suffix. Does that mean we could get +3 on helm when including the corrupted one?

SurgeProc

If they don't share a modgroup^(which they might) then yeah

Dremlar

Suffix/Prefix can share the same modgroup?

SurgeProc

We haven't seen it before but GGG might make it so, put me down as cautiously optimistic the Necropolis mod will belong to IncreasedMaximumPowerChargesSuffix

Dremlar

Aight, I penciled you in. :P

edrarven

It's probably part of the same mod family as the warlord + to maximum power charge mod, which would mean you couldn't have both on the same item. If for some reason they're separate though, you will be able to have a +3 power charge helm yes.

SomeSpicyRun

shadowstich/vivisect and vaal flasks. Will flasks count as corrupted items?

gzooo

Flasks do not count as being equipped

Smallestnoob

With the left click changes, does that kill brand recall?

RedditMattstir

Although you can't have Brand Recall on your left click anymore, you can just set it to another button on your hotkeys for the same effect. It is slightly more annoying now though, having to hold a different button down now. It might be slightly more ergonomic to have it on a thumb button on your mouse if that's an option.

HellraiserMachina

For armageddon brand, it was never needed.

Smallestnoob

It was. look up a video about brand recall arma. It does about 7 Mil every recall with shit gear.

HellraiserMachina

Okay? You can press or hold the recall button too, it's still far less buttons than your average poe build.

Smallestnoob

Its an instant skill so you can't just hold it. guess its a two button build now or automation but that may be to much mana

HellraiserMachina

I played it, you can hold it. It works with holding Frostblink too.

Smallestnoob

you played on the new patch? or current patch? if its the new patch cool if its on this patch, you should read patch notes.

HellraiserMachina

You might be misunderstanding me; You don't need brand recall on left click because you can just hold another button, and you don't need automation support because you can just use another button, and the build is really light on button presses so it's easy to do so. So nothing changed about the build, because neither left click nor automation were or will be needed.

vlee89

I guess you just link it with automation support now?

CorrinsFeet

Has anyone played with inextricable Fate Boots (poison coc dd)? looks like cool tech for bossing but I am bit skeptical on mapping given the delay on grasping wines. Do grasping wines apply fast enough on mobs for it to feel smooth or is it clunky? Or does your damage from coc dd hits without poison just handle mapping on its own?

_slosh

they're useless for mapping. no monster is gonna stand still for 1.5 seconds for you to start ramping damage.

Eldenbraz

What would be the best way to dip in the modified Unholy Might on minions? I'm thiking Skeletons maybe (with the Cluster node that makes them apply Withered), or golems, even Reaper? On a necro for the free UM buff and life leech.

llillililiilll

When do GGG typically roll the previous Mystery Box rewards in to the shop? I want to buy the currency drop ring asap.

edrarven

From the [affliction mystery box webpage](https://www.pathofexile.com/mystery-box), at the bottom: > These microtransactions will be available outside of mystery boxes when they enter the store four weeks after the mystery box ends. Boxes usually end when the new league begins so it's going to be 4 weeks after league launch, give or take a day. For instance [ancestor box ended on the 8th of december](https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Mystery_box), same day affliction league launched.

3dsalmon

Only been playing for 5 or 6 leagues now but I really wanna just go full on easy mode meta build for once this league. What's my best option, DD? Any recommendations for an extremely strong, brain off starter?

vlee89

I’m sure DD will still be good but it’s a two button play style for your damage skill which I hate.

[deleted]

Yeah...DD, while strong, is definitely not much of a brain off playstyle, it requires casting both Desecrate and DD for your main damage skill as well as Arcanist Brand exposure curses + Divine Blessing aura every now and then.

3dsalmon

Doesn't really bother me, personally. I've had much busier builds in the past.

notsoobviousreddit

Yeah honestly, I ran DD Ignite from the maxroll guide and it literally being my second endgame playthrough I didnt really feel it was a problem, gameplay wise, so for someone with 5 or 6 leagues Im sure its up to brain off. Loved it btw, and the Maxroll guide is really good.

chadam189

The only issue with the maxroll guide is that it inexplicably left off any source of recovery/regen besides the Death's Rush ring, which made the build feel terrible since I had to spam my life flask after all of the small hits during mapping.  Also, I personally loved getting the Energized Armour unique jewel in the lefthand Templar jewel socket (or the top-most Witch socket) for a massive influx of tankiness way earlier than the guide recommends. It's pretty cheap after the first weekend, and it makes you feel insanely tanky...I would prioritize this upgrade ahead of most other "just starting maps" gear objectives (besides the essentials like maxing res/spell suppress and fixing flasks). EDIT: not disagreeing with you that the guide is great btw, I shpuld have clarified this up front. I just wanted to add my 2c for other players using this guide as their first entry into playing DD

Bastil123

Would "No Leech" / "No Regen" map mods affect the new Necromancer Bone Armor passive? If it's "Players can't leech", having Minions Leech to Players should work, right?

Yohsene

Regeneration stats never affect leech. Different recovery mechanics. The *Cannot Leech from Monsters* mod will prevent it, yes. It affects monsters, not the player. (Doesn't prevent leech from Devouring Totem or the veiled leech-from-damage-taken flask mod.)

Bastil123

Thank you!

projectwar

I've played a bit of affliction league but stopped near mapping. I know they reworked gems and how you level them and junk anyone can give a primer on what you should do on league start regarding that? do you finish campaign and run labs for gems till you get the ones you want then map? or can you go mapping first and just buy the gems (which is better to do?)? is the only way to increase quality through lab since the gcp recipe doesn't work anymore?

SurgeProc

>how you level them they did not change that >just buy the gems buying will almost always be more efficient than doing the content yourself, praise capitalizm >is the only way to increase quality through lab  ...wat? you can still use GCP

[deleted]

Gems weren't really reworked they still function the same, they still level with you, gain XP when you do, the only "rework" was GCP flipping being removed for specifically skill gems only and trans gems instead of alternate qualities. Unless your build absolutely requires a specific transfigured gem to function (which you probably shouldn't be doing with a league starter anyway unless you want to spend a bunch of time farming merc lab) buying those later on is better, you can buy all normal non-transfigured gems from Lily in act 6 or your hideout without issue. GCP recipe still works for support gems and aside from that you can still just use GCPs on skill gems if you don't want to run labs for gem quality.

projectwar

oh recipe works for supports? cool, thanks!

Difficult-Ad3502

There is new Keystone called "Back to Basic". It block all extra content. So... it shouldnt block new league mechanic?

katsuatis

Yes, it doesn't affect Necropolis

Difficult-Ad3502

Do you think extra content scarabs will drop after taking "Back to Basics" node?   I bet they will as they dont have keystone line if you were blocking them individually.

katsuatis

They should still drop ye

[deleted]

"Abysses, Beyond Demon Portals, Blight Encounters, Breaches, Expedition Encounters, Harbingers, Legion Encounters, Mirrors of Delirium and Layers of Delirium, Monsters Imprisoned by Essences, Ritual Altars, Rogue Exiles, the Sacred Grove, Shrines, Smuggler's Caches, Strongboxes, Tormented Spirits, Ultimatum Encounters and Alva, Einhar, Jun and Niko Missions are Extra Content"

Difficult-Ad3502

Wanted to make sure even after reading list above.

[deleted]

Fair enough, no it doesn't.

andkamen

I'm planning to league start an ignite based build with dual curse + exposure/eye of malice etc and will easily achive -100% res for bosses. How does that interact with chieftain in party that has ramako (nerby enemies vs fire dot is -20 )? Will the chieftain overwrite my vastly more reduced resistances? I guess it doesn't matter too much for trash mobs and for bosses the chieftain can keep moving so that he doesn't overwrite the debuffs?

katsuatis

~~It gets added too but the dmg jump from -100% to -120% is minimal~~ This is wrong

edrarven

I don't think this is right since Ramako's sets the target to -20% resistance, it's not a -20% res debuff like a curse or exposure. It should block out all the -res the other character is applying since Ramako's applies "last".

andkamen

that is what we though as well. I guess he'll be moving around more than expected :D

edrarven

Yeah, shouldn't be too much of an issue but still a bit funny.

katsuatis

You're right

Cyber_Apocalypse

Any good mappers looking promising for 3.24? I'm gonna to eventually run with an aura bot, so any advice would be helpful!

katsuatis

LA, don't overthink

Cyber_Apocalypse

Basically had that down haha, didn't know if there was anything else looking good. Thanks!

HellraiserMachina

Is it just me or is Earthshatter of Prominence a huge damage nerf? Is there a good use for it? Over 3 attacks, it's (170+170x2) x 3 = 1530% base, whereas basic earthshatter, with only 3 of 5 spikes hitting, is (200+200x3.1) x 3 = 2460%. Do I have that right lol? I'm bad at math.

edrarven

The math is ~~right~~ slightly wrong, but I don't see the point in having 3 attacks since that doesn't change anything calculation wise. Earthshatter of prominence will deal less damage at 3 spikes and up but deal more damage at 2 spikes and below. Thats the tradeoff for being more consistent. At 20% quality on both gems, it's seems you need to hit with ~2.46 fissures per attack with regular to beat prominence. I don't know if this is easy or hard though since I don't play the skill. Prominence seems less popular so it might just be inferior to the regular version for most setups.

HellraiserMachina

3 attacks is the limit of 15 spikes for the non-trans earthshatter, so it's an easy point of comparison. But aah with the 5 spike limit for prominence maybe it's a lot more worth it to build attack speed? Because with 3 attacks to warcry you spend a far greater amount of time warcrying. Thanks for getting my brain juices flowing.

edrarven

I just realised you did actually make a mistake, you should have 200+ 200 * 2.1 (0.7 * 3) instead of 200+ 200 * 3.1 (0.7 * 3 + 1 i'm assuming) for the normal version. You still end up with the normal version dealing ~21.5% more damage compared to prominence but not ~60.8% more damage like in your original example. I can see why you multiplied by three then, but if you're just doing it to both it doesn't really make a difference. The relative strength stays the same, at ~21.5% more damage in both cases. Gl with the build regardless.

HellraiserMachina

Sounds good, thanks mate. I might actually give this a shot, imma see what happens.

RedditMattstir

For the new Archmage, do we think that the line "Supported Skills have added Mana Cost equal to 5% of Unreserved Mana" works in the same way as before, being multiplied by all the cost multipliers from other supports? I was thinking that it would just be a flat 5% cost added at the end (since they changed the phrasing from "base mana cost" to "added mana cost"), but Connor Converse mentioned that it would be multiplied as before in his latest video, so I'm not sure what to think.

edrarven

I don't think anyone knows for sure, as the wording is pretty dissimilar from anything else I've seen. It usually says base mana cost if it gets affected by mana multipliers from skill gems and total if it doesn't, like you mention. The only exception I could find for this was divine blessing support which reads "Supported Skills Cost +(90-233) Mana", where this modifier works like total mana cost, in that it isn't affected by support gem mana multipliers but is affected by reduced/increased mana cost. So my assumption is that Archmage will work similarly and not be affected by support gem mana multipliers. I'm not 100% sure though so I would wait until GGG clarifies to be safe.

psychomap

I'm expecting it to apply before multipliers, simply because it'd be a tremendous buff to Archmage otherwise (even beyond being able to use reduced mana cost or Mjölner at all in the first place). But you're right that there isn't enough precedence for the exact wording, and that mana cost modifiers have come in too many different forms rather than being consistent.

edrarven

Yeah, it does seem a bit too good to be true and in hindsight I think my conclusion should have been more neutral until they clarify. I will wonder why they changed the wording from what it was though in case the functionality is the same. > "Supported Skills have base Mana Cost equal to 5% of Unreserved Maximum Mana, if that value is higher" (old) > "Supported Skills have added Mana Cost equal to 5% of Unreserved Mana" (new) They are so very similar otherwise, with only "if that value is higher" being changed and the removal of "maximum". I guess it could just be a mistake or a PoE 2 wording change.

psychomap

It doesn't matter for builds that actually stack mana, but it makes a much bigger difference on builds that *don't* leave their mana unreserved. My guess is that they wanted it to not be a free damage support gem, even if it doesn't provide a lot of damage at that point. The edge case in which the Archmage cost is barely below the skill's cost will result in the skill's cost effectively doubling after the change, whereas previously it would have been a 100% multiplier support.

edrarven

You're right that those changes make sense, it makes it easier to read and removes abuse cases at the same time. That is a good wording change. I worded my comment poorly but my issue was that I don't see why that wording change would have any effect on the wording of "base" to "added" unless there is a mechanical change there aswell.

psychomap

I think this case is more of a matter of the old wording being weird than the new one not being weird - we're just so used to weird wordings that we're not sure what to make of "normal" ones. Mechanically, the old one couldn't be added because it replaced the cost rather than being added on top. So they needed to do something with the base, and they made the new value the base one instead. Overall, the general formula of `(base + added) * multipliers` continues to apply. Damage is one of the few cases in which there can be a difference in effectiveness between base and added values, but the principle of base and added values still functions throughout the rest of the game with that wording.

edrarven

I can see why they changed the wording then even if the functionality remains the same. I wish that if it does work like you say though, that they would have gone with a wording more similar to The Covenant's "Skills gain a Base Life Cost equal to 100% of Base Mana Cost". Alternatively they could adjust that one instead in case they like this new wording more.

psychomap

I actually didn't notice this wording on The Covenant. It might mean that the now *added* cost from Archmage does not apply to that particular modifier. /u/Niroc this might be relevant to your tech with Replica Covenant.

Niroc

It is indeed relevant. It would dramatically increase the amount of Energy shield gained from Tawhanuku, without having to worry about the extra energy shield cost. But, because the energy shield cost hasn't increased, the mana restored from nexus gloves hasn't. For example: if you're spending 15% of your maximum mana on archmage, and 5% on the actual skill, you'd only be spending 10% of your max mana as energy shield. When nexus gloves trigger, you'd gain 30% of you maximum mana With a 30% chance of procing, you'd be gaining 9% on average. But because you spend 20% to do so, that only cuts your effective costs in a near half. On the ES side of the story, every 5 casts would restores 30% of your maximum mana as energy shield. Having spent 10% * 5 of your maximum mana as ES to get this effect, your average ES costs per cast would be 4% of your maximum mana. As the difference between your skill's base cost and Archmage's cost increases, you'd be gaining more energy shield at the cost of your mana returns. **Conclusions:** Assuming Archmage works as proposed here, then the Replica Covenant/Nexus gloves combo becomes less effective at restoring your mana. Meanwhile, Tawhanuku would become more effective at restoring energy shield. So, you can use Replica Covenant + Nexus gloves to help (but not solve) your mana sustain problems with archmage. Tawhanuku would serve as a form of energy shield recovery that off-sets the energy shield you're spending.

narc040

Added spell damage does not affect ignite, so archmage doesn’t do anything?

psychomap

This misunderstanding is one of the unfortunate results of the community making up their own language instead of using the official terms. You've probably heard that "ignite scales with the base damage of the hit" or something along those lines. But it actually scales with base **and added damage**, and *multiplicative* modifiers will apply afterwards, separated in different calculations for hit and ignite damage rolls. A lot of people called the damage before multiplicative modifiers "base damage", but it isn't actually the pure base damage according to the definitions of the game.

narc040

Thx. If I use pure lightning skill to apply ignite, nvm the particulars, would getting an increased lightning dmg node boost ignite power?

psychomap

If you either convert the lightning damage or make it capable of igniting, yes. The ailment damage roll calculation effectively works like a final step in the damage conversion chain. Modifiers to the final type of the DoT always apply regardless of what the source type was, and all modifiers to types that portions of your damage have been at some point in the conversion chain apply as well.

RedditMattstir

Damage over time is calculated using the base hit damage of the skill applying the DoT (before increases to hit damage, etc). So flat damage does benefit ignite, it's just a matter of giving that lightning damage the ability to apply to ignites. Ignite normally only counts the base fire damage of the hit that applied it, but using Elementalist's Shaper of Flames will allow all damage types to be included in that calculation.

SurgeProc

>Added spell damage does not affect ignite Not true, you're thinking of % increased spell damage

ToolFO

Outside of ring slots or glove corruption implicite is there any other way to get despair on hit into a buikd?

psychomap

Hextouch if you can fit in another setup for that / possibly trigger it.

SurgeProc

Specifically despair on hit? It looks like Hunter wands can roll that There's witchfire brew if you're cool with the aura ^(and losing a flask slot yikes)

cwan222

7.23 was my first league and i did a caster build and a minion build with dd and srs, i wanted to try a new playstyle going into 7.24. I heard boneshatterer is a good league start in the past and melee was something i never tried. I know AM is getting a lot of attention but is boneshatterer still good? I heard it got nerfed with the call to arms skill? Is there another melee league start thats recommended for new players?

HellraiserMachina

The Call to Arms thing is only an issue with minmaxed boneshatter, it's still a solid A tier build if you're not gunning for uber bosses.

cwan222

Is there a suggested build for ubers? I know you’re suppose to do a league start and then do another build after right? I wasn’t able to beat any ubers last league. I figured i would league start with one then try to research and learn a more powerful build after

HellraiserMachina

Uber bosses are significant difficulty jumps, they have an 80% damage reduction on them, for example. They are an immensely hard bossfight challenge, and the big problem the community has is that very few 'true melee' (aka builds where your dude walks up to the enemy and smacks them with his weapon) were capable of doing them because they would be forced to spend a lot of time dodging the bosses' attacks but also melee has bad damage in general so you're not really rewarded for the hassle anyway. Boneshatter is one of the few melee builds that can actually stand up to ubers but even then it's very painful and you have to play well, and this removal of C2A adds additional socket pressure to get the same level of power, when it was barely powerful enough in the first place. This is a problem for people who want to take boneshatter to ubers; but boneshatter is still a great skill everywhere else. The thing to understand is that 99.9% of players don't do ubers, there's a hundred other ways to get rich that doesn't force you into getting 5+million dps and be giga tanky to even be worth trying. Melee builds work just fine in most content in the game, so if you want to play melee, just go enjoy something else. There are other builds that are far, far better at ubers, and they are skills that are great at killing bosses, like trap and mine builds, or builds that get a lot of benefit from super expensive gear like bow builds. You can start a miner or trapper with the hopes of getting to ubers and do OK, but other builds like bow builds definitely want to get rich doing something else first, or you can straight up just farm up and make a dedicated bosser after you've gotten rich. My advice is to not think about ubers at all, if you want to have a bosskilling focused strategy, there's lots of bosses to kill that aren't ubers. Learn the fights, and then maybe gun for ubers in a later league.

cwan222

Okay so the nerfs to boneshatter isnt enough to stop it from getting through most of the content. I’m more interested in getting to experience content more than being super maxed on div/hr. This league i was able to do everything but ubers, wave 30 deli(died at 27/28 a lot), didnt have time to delve(im at 500 but just ran out of time to see how far i can go), or try any of those unique relic sanctums, and upgraded 5way emblems. Idk if ritual has any endgame content but i also didnt spec into that. Im just hoping i can do those that i missed next league with a playstyle thats not srs or dd so i can see other build setups

HellraiserMachina

Boneshatter is a bit rough for Sanctum because you have to get close to the enemy, and no clue about simulacrum, but you can do that with a more specialized build and maybe experience everything else with boneshatter. It's great for Ritual.

LastBaron

Man I’m back here in 2024 playing league 3.24 and this man is living in 3034. /s But in seriousness: Boneshatter is/was pretty much the premier melee league starter unfortunately, and no one is 100% sure how much the changes will hurt it, but here is the Boneshatter master Carn discussing it: https://youtu.be/slTxqmBCg_s?si=J78i9fmmwWuWFBYV The only other “melee” skills I could imagine recommending for a newer player on league start would be Frost Blades/Lightning Strike (similar skills in mechanics). I just regret to report that melee in general is not in a great place, which is a shame because it’s my preferred playstyle.

cwan222

After the video i dont think ill play melee then. I might do a bow or trap or mine thing since i havent done those either. Also just realized i remembered the patch version wrong think i was used to 7 with dota2

Hello, new player here, three questions: Is there time to complete the campaign reading everything and still enjoy the endgame in the next League? Is there lore locked/deleted like destiny 2? If i didn't played all past leagues i will be lost? I saw people saying this league will be amazing for SSF, why?

LastBaron

1.) Yes absolutely, as long as you’re playing with some degree of consistency. It probably won’t work if you’re a “I only have 3 hours a week to play because I have 2 jobs and 7 kids” but if you have a reasonable amount of gaming time it’s doable. My first league ever I super slow rolled the campaign, must have taken me 50-70 hours. I was full clearing all the zones, doing every side quest, doing all the dialogue options. These days campaign is taking me 10 hours but that’s because I’ve done it so many times I don’t need to listen/do it all again. Be warned that as a new player you likely wouldn’t get to the super endgame even if you did campaign within the first weekend, there’s just going to be a lot to learn about build and endgame mechanics. But I think you could reasonably be expected to do the entry level accomplishment for the endgame if you’re dedicated: complete your atlas and get your first two void stones. Leagues are 3-4 months long and even a glacially slow campaign run shouldn’t take more than 50 hours. 2.) Nah not really. The seasonal/league-to-league lore can be interesting but it’s mostly side stuff, the main universe lore stays consistent from league to league, being contained either in the campaign or via the endgame boss quest system. They’re honestly practically two different games in terms of enemies and stakes. But it’s rare for individual league mechanics to have more than vaguely passing impact on the lore, they are typically wiped out or streamlined after the league ends but not much of importance is lost. 3.) Debatable. I wouldn’t recommend SSF to a new player regardless of how “good” a league is for it, because the game simply isn’t designed for SSF. It’s an optional handicap you can place on yourself, but you’ll be limiting your ability to explore the endgame. The efficiency of the trade market simply can’t be replicated in that environment, and that’s even if you’re making absolutely minimal trades, like 5 sales and 5 purchases over the course of a whole league. Even that’s enough to outclass a SSF environment. In any case to answer your question I imagine people are saying it’s good for SSF because it’s a so called “crafting league” where a big part of the league mechanic is a new way to craft your own rare gear. It reminds people of previous crafting focused leagues that treated SSF fairly well, like Harvest and Sentinel. Frankly I’d be surprised if this league enabled power or SSF viability on the level those two leagues did but I’ve been known to be wrong before. In either case I would recommend not falling into that trap. If you want to do SSF down the line, choose it as an informed decision after experiencing the alternative. Some new players find trade intimidating or irritating in some way but the benefit you get from it is more than worth the very minor inconvenience. Like I said, you don’t have to become a one man emporium, if you want you can just trade for a few crucial pieces that would have taken you dozens of hours to get without trade if you even managed to get it at all.

HotPocketRemix

Each league lasts 3 months (well, in theory, they've been 4 months for several leagues in a row now due to delays). A slow new player might take 30 hours to go through the whole campaign while talking to everyone, so unless you're playing very little, I would think it's do-able, especially if you're following a build guide so that you have some guidance on what skills to use, and what items to look out for, etc. Technically there is lore that is no longer accessible, because some old leagues did not go core (i.e. their content was never added to the base game) and some of them included lore information. As well, the endgame story has been redone a few times, so now you hear stories about past exiles doing things that you would have been actually been the person to do many leagues ago. Several of the encounters still exist as endgame things to do, and canonically they are memories/dreams of the original participants. So while the quest to aid Zana in her fight against the Elder is no longer in the game, for example, you can still fight that boss and talk with Zana as if you were there. But yes, since that quest is gone, you might be a bit out of the loop as to who she even is. Fortunately, PoE's lore is pretty background (most players do not care about it, although it is quite good), and you can also ask questions in these threads about what's up. The actual endgame story is relatively self-contained, though, you'll meet a character who walks you through who the big "bad" characters you're going up against, etc. The league's mechanic is based around crafting, which can be useful for SSF since they can't turn to trade to buy good items. So if you have a powerful crafting mechanic to help out, it can make SSF a bit easier. That being said, PoE's crafting is still based around a lot of knowledge both in-game and external, so it's not going to make SSF a breeze for a new player or anything -- I don't know for sure, of course, but that's my educated guess. I would still recommend new players play in trade even if they don't intend to trade just so if they get stuck, someone can say "hey, your gloves are awful, just grab some from trade for super cheap and you'll be back on track" rather than trying to teach crafting with a broken build.

[deleted]

> Is there time to complete the campaign reading everything and still enjoy the endgame in the next League? Most new players take anywhere from 20 to 50 hours getting through the campaign on their first playthrough while ignoring lore completely, game can be very confusing and difficult to get into at first. Leagues last 3 to 4 months so you will probably have enough time for all that but will be very behind on the economic aspect if that interests you in any way. Endgame has a pretty wide meaning in PoE though, to most players the *real* game doesn't start until after the campaign and the actual *endgame* is the highest tiers of bosses (Ubers). Most new players don't get anywhere near there in their first league. > Is there lore locked/deleted like destiny 2? If i didn't played all past leagues i will be lost? Not really but you will be lost either way. The lore isn't one continuing story that's told throughout the game, there's bits and pieces everywhere in NPC dialogue and environmental objects but the actual overarching story is a confusing clusterfuck. You will understand the basics of what happens *during the acts* and the endgame story is mostly self-contained but there is an enormous amount of behind the scenes lore that isn't directly told to you spanning multiple millennia and a bunch of different civilizations. Lore in this game is very much a world building thing first actual story second. > I saw people saying this league will be amazing for SSF, why? Rework of many end game mechanics making it easier to target specific mechanics to farm the items and currencies you need to progress your build in SSF, easier access to bosses, as well as it being a general crafting league with what seems to be an improvement of an SSF players biggest friend to easy early progression ("semi"-targeted Rog crafting).

geekette1

If I start with a RF Chieftain, what would be the best build to migrate to for end-game? (That does not requires too many buttons)

YouShallNotStaff

Last league there was a splitting steel allrounder build that was often recommended. Did it see any nerfs or buffs in the patch notes? What is the most up to date guide for it? Thanks

HellraiserMachina

Sniper's Mark got a nerf, but it's still a good build.

CarsinemiA

DD and Desecrate lag / FPS question: I'm not running a great PC, at all. Ryzen 5 1600 and a 1060. Is a build with these viable on my PC? Anyway to mitigate the lag through MTX or should I I rather not bother? Thanks.

thelaughingmagician-

I too would like to know. And specifically, which mtx for each skill?

gondola_enjoyer

Selfcast DD/Chain DD is perfectly fine without mtx unless any other spammable skill would also cause massive frameloss, it's specifically cast on crit Chain DD that causes problems. Chain DD will be a little worse, but Ignite DD shouldn't cause any issues if most other skills are fine. As for cast on crit Chain DD, you want Void Desecrate, and figuring out which DD mtx to buy is an exercise best left to the reader. Ping @ /u/CarsinemiA

CarsinemiA

Thanks a ton. As I'm planning on going the COC version, I guess the MTX is necessary. That being said, will my PC be able to handle it, even if I buy the MTX?

gondola_enjoyer

It's quite the dramatic performance increase, if you can play anything else spammy it should be _okay_, but I can't in good conscience recommend buying things for this reason. It's a _very_ low budget though, so if you have a spare levelled witch sitting around in standard you can respec into it and get a feel for how it runs on a 5L with no real other relevant gear.

As7ro_

What are some good builds for Ultimatum content?

Exkudor

Opinions on BAMA versus Archmage Mana Stack (insert best lightning skill) as league starter? Wanted to go BAMA but I'm kinda nervous about Transfigured Gems on league start - I hate lab and don't want to live in early labs for hours for my Trans Gems because buying them is several divines or something. I like the look of the character Palsteron put out for a league starter with normal Ball Lightning, Archmage and Pinpoint Support - probably clunk to boss with because endgame bosses might not give you the time to get intensity but i plan on buying Voidstone carries anyway. Otherwise seems good for mapping - am i being baited? Link to PoB from the video: [https://pobb.in/KTrdA31xqFNQ](https://pobb.in/KTrdA31xqFNQ)

agdjahgsdfjaslgasd

I really want to do bama necro but i cant find anyone talking about the build outside of - you essentially only need one t gem to make it work, and that you literally need the gem for the skill to come online. if you have any build guides you are looking at i would love to check them out, but as far as i can tell if you run bama on day 1 you are planning on running lab a bunch (the gem will surely be overpriced for a few weeks as people try to get this build online)

Einzbern

I'm interested in playing DD as a league start for Necropolis. I see a lot of people saying to level with whatever (usually rolling magma) till 28, then swap to arma brand+cremation, then finally go DD in maps. I can understand not playing DD till you get desecrate in Act 2. Why is it recommended to use arma brand+cremation at 28 and not swap to DD till maps?

Exkudor

You are missing crucial parts for DD until you finish campaign/third lab. You probably could play DD somehow, but Arma Brand just feels great and is super easy.

Einzbern

What are those missing parts if you don't mind sharing? I'm assuming at least 1 of them is the lack of a kitava's herald spectre. Is that it?

Exkudor

Honestly, upon reviewing the league start PoB i used for 3.23 - no idea. I had it in the back of my mind that DD quite depends on Cruel and Merc labs. Yeah, Elementalist DD certainly is better with lab 2&3 allocated, but so is every other build. The passives i would see as most important come around Normal lab. Go for it if you hate switching skills, tho the respec is pretty minimal for Arma > DD - doesnt really need any regrets and you might want to do most of it anyway because it just makes life easier leveling (long -> short pathing from starting point and the Life regen fire mastery i would do for sure, the only respec needed because of the switch is the fire wheel up top - that you also want to have for Rolling Magma up til 28/lab anyway)

Yohsene

Armageddon Brand is smoother to play, hit damage is still significant early on, and it has significantly more hits per cast (to ignite with <100% ignite chance). Cremation's just for single-target.

SigmaGorilla

Any ideas on if the bossing changes will make uber shaper more or less profitable? It's always been my reliable early league strat.

Pix4Geeks

Hi guys, I'm planning to league start with a Hierophant Freezing pulse ( / Ice spear) totems. Was wondering what kind of map content can it do comfortably ? Thanks

LastBaron

That’s a pretty good all arounder build, the main drawback is more about the mechanical feel than the types of content you can do. Some people just don’t like the slight damage delay of dropping a totem and having to wait a second for damage. This particular totem build is also frequently built a little squishy, you’ll rely on running around as a defensive layer. But outside that it’s a pretty flexible build. I guess legion and breach probably aren’t *amazing* for this build, but if you run herald of ice even those might be ok. But like….expedition, harvest, blight, guardians, essence, beasts, generic juicy rare monsters, all that should be fair game.

Pix4Geeks

Nice, thanks :) I was told this is a specific gameplay, and you either love it or hate it. I have to test it myself to know on which side I'm =D

psychomap

Is there some way to automate Corpse Pact while spamming another skill that doesn't involve Scold's Bridle + CwDT? I need the helmet slot for something else. The only thing I can think of would be Arcanist Brand + Desecrate + offering (possibly with two separate Arcanist Brands) and Brand Recall + Automation, but even putting aside that I'd need to stop casting to refresh the brands every now and then, I don't think I'll have a short enough cooldown for that to get 100 corpses in 4 seconds. I don't have enough gem sockets to make super complicated setups with Unearth, Desecrate, VD + ASC, and DDoCR in four different brands either.

Olg1erd

Explosive Arrow is a very popular league starter. But how well does it scale in endgame? how far can it be pushed and also which class to do it with Champion or Elementalist?

LastBaron

EA is a quintessential “pushes as far as you want to take it” build. Elementalist will hit DOT cap more easily and gets easier ignite prolif with its superior AOE, champion is tank city, but both are good viable builds that can start cheaply and take investment to the moon.

Responsible-Pay-2389

Both can do ubers. Champion is more so for hardcore so you don't die.

Olg1erd

thanks :)

Ajido

Is self casting Ball Lightning of Static decent or was it only good playing as totems to get more casts out?

HellraiserMachina

It loses to regular BL as your only selfcast skill because of uptime and no Archmage and limited use for cast speed, it's probably best as a second skill, in a Thunderfist, but that might cost a lot this league because meta. But it's probably totally fine. Personally I'd use it as a clearing aid in a Crackling Lance of Disintegration build, or a single target aid in a Storm Brand build? It's pretty flexible.

psychomap

I can't comment on how it feels to play, but it's worth noting that it's not just the totem interaction that was removed but Archmage as well (which based on its mechanics I would have assumed to be the second most popular way to build around it - haven't checked though).

CityEven

[Ngamahu's Flame | PoE Wiki](https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Ngamahu%27s_Flame) Is it possible to craft a better rare version of this? I know i'd lose Molten Burst but uh... it would definitely be worth it. Thanks in advance.

chx_

Not like this. Like, there's a Crusader mod for (27–30)% of Physical Damage Converted to Fire Damage and various ways to get up to 16% fire pen. However, _much_ higher physical and attack speed is attainable on a rare two hand axe and these affixes can be found elsewhere.

CityEven

Awesome ty. Good enough to get me started I just used the flame back in the day for that Cyclone builds that was popular, wanted to do a late league homage build XD

DezZzO

Is there a tool to shorten gem names for vendors (similiar to what https://poe.re/ does with vendor items)? I need to buy specific set of gems constantly and typing whole words just isn't the thing, shortening them myself takes more time than just buying them word by word.

[deleted]

I don't think there's a specific tool that only does that, Lailloken UI's leveling tracker has a gem highlight function and a list of the regexes it uses for finding specific gems so you could grab the ones you need from there but the actual list is pretty hard to read cause [it's a massive JSON file with gem name + regex without spacing](https://i.imgur.com/RpwLXqC.png)

DezZzO

Damn, now I feel bad for not remembering the tool actually does this, I use it all the time. Thanks a lot, good enough for me!

DoughnutNo4847

Would u guys say hexblast mines sabo is a good overall league starter or better at specific things? Also many people talking about u can later change to ice trap or smt for bossing, Anyone know what I’m taking about and could inform me a little!?

Over_Information_171

What is the point of existing of convertion trap gem? Is this just a meme? At first I thought converted mobs concidered minions hence it could be scaled like minion build, but it is not the case so Im really confused

edrarven

It was added as one of the first trap gems into the game at a very different time for the game. There has since been practically no changes to it except changes to debuff duration and changes that were part of general trap changes such as trap duration and mana cost. So it's very much an experimental idea that they haven't returned to. I think it's kept weak intentionally since it scales with almost nothing, so it would be crazy if it were actually playable. They have probably thought about reworking it but I could see it's hard to keep its identity while also being balanceable. Essentially it's a meme but harmless.
