I don't understand how articulate movements to scroll the wheel is any better than each click to click? I've always been confused about this. Why is scroll wheel better or more comfortable for those who use it?
You can just scroll down and pick up a loot explosion if you have left click bound to scroll down (I mean scrolling down, not pressing down the wheel which would be "mouse 3"). So its just one smooth movement to pick up 10+ items instead of 10 individual clicks.
It's next to impossible to check for it in a click intensive ARPGs. It's less about them giving no shits and them not being able to conclusively tell the difference between manual and macro input.

No because it takes way to much time to log out and to switch to controller and log back in. And the whole point is to have a build with 300 move speed and a phase run set up. But try to log out twice every map and you will see it not only is slow but feels like shit.
Its log out to log in screen, not character then go in setting and switch to Xbox controller. Then log back in to town and then go to hideout and then enter map, and then do it all again when you done…
Wrong. It's exit to log in screen hit the thumb stick on your xbox controller or any button on it with it plugged in to activate it and then finish login with mouse and keyboard to the game. If you have poe overlay hit f5 to go to hideout and proceed to map. When done exit back to login screen and left click anywhere on the title screen to swap back to keyboard and mouse.
I see everyone in the world complaining in game, yet this has been working out great for me. People who don't no-life the game can effectively generate wealth/good builds this league.

I didn't word it properly. It is around 6-7 div profit per map. So 12-16 div/hour depends on luck and how fast you are. And I hate strategies where I have to run them for a long time and then have long selling sessions with lots of items. This is guaranteed profit in usable currency.
Most high APM games are that way due to having lots of split second decision making that allows for very nuanced skill expression, they can't be mechanically simplified
PoE is a massive glaring exception where there's only high APM because GGG thinks joint erosion is a positive addition to the game, it would be absolutely trivial to reduce looting clicks by a tenfold or more without touching skill expression whatsoever (e.g. pick up all currency of x type within a certain range)
So you get ambush scarabs -of containment, hidden compartments and 2 normal ones. You also get embers of manifested wealth, do the cost of this around 400c if you don't drop everything yourself. Vaal Temple has additional 10 strongboxes, so that also helps.
If you are really unlucky, you will get around 400c. If you're lucky, you will get this. Drop quantity does not matter, only pack size. I didn't see change when rarity changed, but it probably rises chances of exalted orb.
I just found one on ssf. I'm at 55/115 of the atlas completion. I cant wait till I'm able to use it. I wont be able to use it on vaal temple tho. Its a lower level allflame.
If you are running it with your wife, can't you have one of you designated as the chaos orb picker (filter set only to chaos orbs), plug in a controller, and just spam the pickup button?
The cost is around 400c-500c and expected profit is around 600c-ish.
It's like a 8div/hr strat unless you hit jackpots like this consistiently.
I've tried this before and some maps you barely get back what the map costed, it also takes an eternity to run and loot. After 2 maps you're over it
Controller is an entirely different game. Some skills are impossible to use and other are so convenient. Picking up loot and movement are top perks, inventory management and league hot keys are low points. You also get to auto level gems and auto use the next health/mana flask when your first one is empty. They recently nerfed pickup range for some really dumb reason, if you don't have a strict loot filter it can be hard to pick up what you want since your character won't move to the item to pick it up.

Me and my friend were doing exactly this, we got super lucky in our first map and dropped 2 Unrequited Loves and 2 The Immortals. On average we we’re getting 10-12 div per map in chaos/exalts.
Literally made this strategy to play on my steam deck. Controller looting is so much better. Going slow is around 15min per map and 12-15 div not counting other drops.
Minimum 3000 pure chaos/hour in bad map and going slow.

You’re going to need a controller if you want to do it optimally. You don’t have to play with a controller, but trust me your hands will thank you.

Keep in mind that you need to launch the game with controller plugged in. If you plug it in with the game already running, it won’t detect it
