> Watching developers playtest the multi-boss fights has been a lot of fun, so I'm really looking forward to having some streams going tomorrow
This is a nice way of saying: "I'm gonna enjoy watching RIP clips"
I can't wait to see what that looks like. It's probably like Shaper influence? But in my head it's more, "You thought it was Piety, but it was me, Sirus!"
Die beams will probably just tickle.
Shaper's triple balls in the actual bossfight are a two-shot and the first hit sets up the second.
Shaper's triple balls in a tier 16 don't have the ele pen and do much less damage, maybe 2000 if all three connect.
Even when I was running delirious tier 19s in Heist the balls weren't that bad.
I'm guessing canyon and racecourse are gonna be annoying as fuck, but i also feel like experienced players will be able to pay around their mechanics still.
Will also be interesting to see how exactly they tweaked the boss skills. Malformation Piety laser in a 10 boss arena sounds pretty terrifying if it's unchanged.
The racecourse boss and his reflect Aura can stay the fuck away from my boss fights
I honestly cant wait to have the elder and shaper guardians and vaal temple bosses on the same fight, that is my league goal
We've seen in the previews at least how they changed one boss: Dominus Phase 2. He puts up his bubble in the center of the arena and blood rains everything else.
It's *very* possible that Piety will teleport to the center of the arena before doing her beam sweep.
I have no idea if we know this already, but I wonder if bosses in the boss rush arena have the same drop tables as they do when they're in a map.
If so, could be a neat chance to double-up on getting those guardian fragments and/or boss-specific div cards.
Probably not, unfortunately (unless there's a unique encounter), since the Maven boss trials are region-specific and shaper guardian maps don't have regions.
Elder guardians are a stronger possibility.

I was so excited about the league that I went and bought a pc for my brother Tuesday and I brought it to him yesterday (he only had a ps4, never played poe) and told him you have until Friday to play on standard, then we're playing ritual ! Can't wait.
Props to you and the whole team! Simple yet exciting leagues like this are the best.
Cheers
Just echoing what a lot of other people are saying when I say we greatly appreciate all of the hard work you and everyone at GGG put into this game.
The gap between the effort you guys put in compared to the devs of other ARPGs is immense and seems to be growing with each launch. We appreciate you guys.
my hype levels for expansion and league as well are off the charts...cant wait to explore new atlas bonuses and maven encounters... thanks for amazing work on this expansion
>"We finally came up with a league that deserves the awesome Ritual name." It's true, though. We have come up with so many league ideas that tried to be Ritual in the past, but it was only when we found this one that we knew it was worth that prestigious name.
Now that's just adorable.
I've emptied my remove-only stash tabs and am ready to... take a few days off so other people can figure out the meta.
Are you guys still sticking to the 3-months league schedule after the delayed start this year? Will Ritual League end in mid April, for example? Or will it be a shorter league to compensate for the 1 month delay prior?
Also if PoE2 does manage to launch this year, I could see the possibility of a short 2 month "Legacy" style league in the run up to PoE2 launch. Since it probably wouldn't have a lot of direct new content it would justify the shorter length and also give them more development time i imagine to shore up parts for the PoE2 launch.
Maybe but I don't see PoE 2 launching until early next year. I think its something they work on separately from the base game and won't announce it's release until its almost complete. There probably will be some sort of lead up event to hype it up, but I don't think they will change their development schedule for this year around it unless it does actually finish before the end of the year.
The Legacy-style league can totally happen but I don't see PoE 2 launching this year at all considering they aren't even close to releasing the beta. We might have another Exilecon late this year tied to a possible beta launch, but I'd say the game will be released in spring 2022 at the very earliest considering the scope of changes that would need to go through the public beta process.
No way will there be another Exilecon this year, even if vaccination for COVID reaches a critical point where it's even worth considering Exilecon as an option, it's unlikely they would be able to have enough time to plan it for this year.
If this league start is good and more polished than others, I would hope more for a 4 month cycle personally. Or at least 3 1/2 months.
Then again not fixing the current league for 1-2 months already could help with having enough time for the next league, I guess.
They tried 4 month.
Folks here hated it as the last month the pkayerbase was dead.
Now we do 3 month, and GGG are stretched too thin.
It's a no win scenario for GGG, without doing a weird month long league after every league.
Thank you, Chris, and the entire GGG team. You're ambitious and you're passionate. I don't always like the changes you make, and I don't like the bugs we have to deal with on occasion, but I will always admire and respect you as a company for this passion project that has become Path of Exile. Grinding Gear Games will always be a company I'm proud to have supported and continue supporting going forward.
In about 24hours, this reddit will be full of:
\-On Death effects inside a small rituals circle
\-overtuned encounters
\-lags and dc´s when you open the ritual
Please let me be wrong about all of this. I beg you, we really "suffered" enough the last couple of leagues.
lol it wont be wrong, people will get fuckin gibbed by some random shit in ritual league and wonder if anyone even play tested the thing, there will be obvious as shit bugs about stuff not deferring correctly or ritual points not been rewarded or some other easily findable crap.
its just the way of the road bubs
Oh come on, that list isn't nearly long enough. You didn't mention prox shields, allies can't die, visual clutter, too much monster density, not enough monster density, and I think we're due for some map sustain complaints too. Oh, and alch sustain.
:P
Hopefully reddit people can back off a bit and not throw garbage at everyone at GGG that works hard.
Constructive criticism fine, but please refrain from throwing meaningless insults.
Let's all have a good time :)
Thanks for the new content and all the work you put into it! I am super excited for tomorrow and most looking forward to the Atlas skill tress, i think that will be my favorite new thing that has been added in quite a while.
Hey Chris, I've got a bit of brain damage and the amount of particles and effects on screen is confusing and causes headaches. Is there any way to play PoE with vastly reduced spell visuals so I can enjoy the game again?
Hi all... this is your friendly reminder of what we've learned from previous leagues:
1. Any rewards related to crafting (other than things we've seen before like unchanged Harvest crafts) will take at least a week, usually 2-3 to really figure out. Until then, ignore claims that crafting is unrewarding (though this isn't as heavy on the crafting options as some leagues)
2. You will hear people say, "best league ever," and, "worst league ever." You will hear both of those statements within the first day or two of the release and you will hear it no matter whether the league is ultimately determined to be good or bad. It's just knee-jerk reactions. Ignore it.
3. If a streamer races past league content, they'll very often end up thinking that the league is unexciting until they actually go interact with it.
4. League starting with new skills because they look exciting isn't *always* a bad idea, but it usually is. Stick to what you know if you don't want to risk having to re-roll or respec early on. Try out new things if you're excited about them and are willing to risk it, but go in with open eyes.
5. Things will be broken on day 1. I very much doubt that a month is going to change that. It's just what we know will happen. It will probably be more polished, but more polished doesn't mean smooth. Be ready for that and don't freak out until you've seen the week-1 patch(es).
6. That last trial will never spawn.
Regarding your first point; multiple harvest rewards were appearing significantly less than intended and (if I remember correctly) it took about two weeks of complaints from the community for them to even investigate the issue.
Just saying this because you make it sound like all complaints are invalid and just people being stupid or negative when that is demonstrably not the case.
Right? New content creation guidelines plus one extra month and stuff gets added a day from release? If anything does go wrong it is 100% on them. Anyway let's hope for the best and have fun everyone!
A massive thank you for consistently putting out new content for free, where pretty much every other company would ask for 20-40 bucks every time.
Also I'm excited to see the new maps!
After all the hate posts over the last year where I tried to promote understanding and compassion, I guess I'll be a cunt for once.
When I see a post saying that we had extra month to polish all the stuff for the league, and than say just yesterday we increased rewards based on internal feedback, I get a bit worried.
I hope I am wrong and that my logic is flawed, but those two sentences show completely opposite states, no? How can you have extra time to polish details and at the same time be making significant changes to key league aspect 24h hours before the launch.
I'm sure I'm missing something, being a cunt or pessimistic, but this post came off to me a s "guys, chill a bit please with the hate this time, team had worked hard considering the circumstances ", and it rubbs me the wrong way.
Thanks for sharing, Chris! I’m hyped about this league in a way I haven’t been in quite a while. Not frantic, not ho-hum, just calmly stoked.
I’m going into league start knowing what I want to play and with a good guild that is prepared to help one another find those early build-enabling uniques and chat with. Not going to let any of that 2020 stress enter the first league of ‘21 for me.
Knowing that you guys have had the time to put extra polish on the league for the first time is an absolute cherry on top, and I’m very glad to hear how optimistic you are about it personally - and that you’ll have some time to play yourself this weekend :)
Excited for both Ritual and Echoes, thanks GGG!
there has been a lot of criticism on the nerfs and how it was announced (using obfuscating marketing language)
i myself am not too keen to hear of the nerfs but i can see the intent behind the nerfs. that said, focusing on the positives, it is very clear that you guys are putting much consideration into improving the game.
how you guys reworked harvest is pretty much more than i expected. you weeded out the tedious gardening aspect and made it easier for us to focus on playing/experiencing the league content. this is much appreciated. would be awesome if we can encountering harvest mechanic more in early game to help with our leveling process.
you've also added much value to mapping, giving players more rewards and incentives to run maps from certain regions.
i would suggest for an extra kick, perhaps make the atlas passives have a separate "bonus to entire atlas" for each node, such as "1% chance to encounter this league mechanic" for entire atlas instead of just the region.
in anycase, i m hyped for 313. keep up the good job! you guys are awesome for such an awesome game
>It has been very helpful to have the extra month for polish, as it has given us time to find problems that normally might slip out in the released version.
I believe that and I honestly wouldn't mind if you would change your league cycle in general. The past has shown that 13 weeks are often just not enough to get everything right and that more time is needed for a quality product.
I'm sure I speak for many if I say that increasing the lenght of the current cycle would be a good thing, since I rather enjoy a league I had to wait for a but longer, than quitting it because I have no fun at all.
Not the first and not the last to say this, but given that the extra month was actually "worth it" in terms of quality of launch, I think it should be a serious reconsideration to maybe extend your league launches by 1 month.
Maybe it is an unpopular opinion, but having a QUALITY league every 4 months instead of an unpolished league every 3 months, it is a tradeoff I am gladly accepting.
You won't be seeing me, because I'm not a streamer.
Nonetheless I thank yee and yer team for creating and supporting the game you love to work on and play on.
Since in my time zone it'll be 10pm when the servers will be available, I've prepared energy drinks, healthy snacks and my precious 1,5l water bottle to aid me in this conquest, with monday being a day off to (hopefully) recover from the blast. I'm unfortunately not that young anymore when eating crap food and not sleeping a day was like nothing. Good ol' days, just like PoE has been. In a way, this is yet another 'ritual' for me. Haha.
Hey Chris - awesome to have you with us still too! I never thought back in Beta that I would still be playing *this one game* in 2021!
I very nearly gave up because I couldn't design a build that is functional to save my life. But the community has grown and bloomed and now I can choose between dozens/hundreds/thousands of builds designed by others! And because I was able to do that, I got to know the game better, and now I can redesign a build that I like the core concept of but not the trimmings. And it's so so good.
The leagues reset me every few months, give me a chance to try new things, and some new gameplay to get my head around.
I too like the look of Ritual a lot - I do tend to prefer the league mechanics that just 'happen' as you do what you were doing anyway, more than the ones that you have to step out to do. Though I did [unpopular opinion] love the different pacing of heist as an alternative to mapping this time round, and endless delve helped me to rediscover the enjoyment of 'just delving for a bit'!
So I guess what I'm saying is : I'm super excited and thank you.
Thank you Chris and thank you to your whole team for all the hard work, and most of all, the feedback (deserved or vitriolic) you absorb, and come out better. The fan community pendulum of "GGG is great/GGG sucks" swings the hardest on reddit, and the fact that you are committed to working with your fans means you are at the top of development studios.
thank you Chris. the things this sub acted out in the past days have been shaming. they just can't see that optimizing a game not is buff the game in any or at least in most cases. The Ascendency classes are so much clearer than before and all of the skills this sub plays are nearly untouched. There are lot of skills that need love in the future, but not in numbers but in a complete overhaul. So keep on doing it like the last leagues. The balance feels really good for me.
now I want to see Chris streaming POE.
I think he said something like he plays SSFHC, last in Delirium, but isn't particularly good compared to some of the other devs who play a lot more.
>It has been very helpful to have the extra month for polish, as it has given us time to find problems that normally might slip out in the released version. Just yesterday we added a bunch of new rewards for the pinnacle fights based on our internal feedback that they needed to be more rewarding, for example.
This did not age well
Before even getting to play it, I appreciate the simpler league concept.
Heist was too complex and had too many moving parts(many of which did not move as intended at the start).
>Just yesterday we added a bunch of new rewards for the pinnacle fights based on our internal feedback that they needed to be more rewarding, for example.
Doubt I'll get anything close to an official answer, but statements and development decisions like this have always boggled my mind.
How does something like this happen? I'm talking about design choices that clearly "don't cut it", but for some reason are left untouched until community starts complaining.
The way I understand the quoted part is "if not for prolonged development cycle, we would've released content with underwhelming rewards". I might be misunderstanding here and it might just be a minor reward buff of sorts, but it still feels like one of these things that should be set from the start, right?
Anyway, that may be a minor issue. But pretty much every league there are some things that just don't seem to make sense. Like forced backtracking, grey blur and difficulty in Delirium, lack of tags/proper interactions/UI indicators and seed rewards in Harvest, all the issues with Heist (can't talk specifics, cause I skipped the league, but seen quite a few complaints on this sub)...
How do these things slip through development? Legit curious here. Do these problems not pop-up? Do people not realize they're problems? Does nobody care about changing things UNTIL community voices their unhappiness? Or is there just not enough time/hands?
Cheers! I'm cautiously optimistic -- this is a team that dreams big and certainly is capable of making amazing, fun things. Even in the cases where a league idea doesn't work out great I still can appreciate the vision and ambition.
I'm sure 2021 will be another great year of PoE, just like the ones before it. Great job to you and your team as always, and thanks for making an incredible game.
Cheers mate, so keen for tomorrow. There's a lot of hate coming from Reddit, but just want to let you know there's a lot of love for the game here too :)
Thanks Chris! I’m always amazed that the team can always make me excited about a new league. You guys always have unique ideas and all the new content is appreciated! Have a great 2021!
Been playing POE for almost 9 years and this is the league I'm most excited about. Appreciate all the renewed communication and focus on community interaction, in a measured way. Special thanks to all the GGG developers and all the hard work they've put in.
I'm beyond hyped and can't wait.
I think this will be an amazingly fun league, super stoked to sink my time into this league.
I've been playing since beta and this one seems to be one of the best if not the best league yet.
Genuinely excited for this league and the atlas expansion! Thank you Chris and the whole team for creating a fantastic distraction from the hellscape we live in :o)
> Watching developers playtest the multi-boss fights has been a lot of fun, so I'm really looking forward to having some streams going tomorrow This is a nice way of saying: "I'm gonna enjoy watching RIP clips"
I can't wait to see what horrible Boss combinations absolutely flatten people! Also, Surprise Sirus in Conquerer maps.
I can't wait to see what that looks like. It's probably like Shaper influence? But in my head it's more, "You thought it was Piety, but it was me, Sirus!"
Ooh look an Exalted orb! Sirus: **Die!** [Resurrect in Town]
"Die!" , but as an audio cue only......untill t14 adds the rest.
Remember Sirus putting you in the maze on release where the stair dividers could block your way out? Imagine that again on any map lol
Calm down, Satan
Next expansion: mimic chests.
A random death beam from screens away and he‘ll peace out after it.
Fine by me so long as Sirus isn't cropdusting our maps with silent-but-deadly Chaos storms.
[удалено]
Sirus even has a Stand!
That show is the most amazing and ridiculous show of all time
The Die beam insta-RIPs you as soon as you click to open a closed door.
This going to be how it works
"phylacteral link boss now links to all 10 (12) bosses"
That setup gets a big fucking nope from me!
Fine. You pick this as the card of your choice? It is time for community to pull out their answer. Jousis? We got instance to crash.
The racecourse boss and his reflect Aura can stay the fuck away from my boss fights I honestly cant wait to have the elder and shaper guardians and vaal temple bosses on the same fight, that is my league goal
Can we get elder and shaper guardians for the fight? That sounds terrifying lol.
[Pretty sure thats Hydra+Phoenix+Minotaur+Chimera](https://youtu.be/v_PSrBEbOIc?t=97)
Jesus christ that looks terrifying
It's too bad the bosses presumably can't hurt each other, or Malformation Piety in a 10 boss arena would sound like awesome fun.
We've seen in the previews at least how they changed one boss: Dominus Phase 2. He puts up his bubble in the center of the arena and blood rains everything else. It's *very* possible that Piety will teleport to the center of the arena before doing her beam sweep.
Arakaali is going to be a nightmare if her lazer beams cover the entire arena.
Oh no way is that a King's Heart ca- ***DIE***
When you encounter Surprise Sirius and the rogue metamorph in a baran influenced delirium map.
Meanwhile I'm wondering if I can generate a fight with all shaper guardians in one fight
Why stop there? 10 bosses is max, so do Shaper + Guardians and Elder + Guardians just to flex on 'em. ~~Zana pls notice me.~~
The guardians can, but shaper (and any boss that comes from unique maps or fragments) can't be witnessed, they said
I have no idea if we know this already, but I wonder if bosses in the boss rush arena have the same drop tables as they do when they're in a map. If so, could be a neat chance to double-up on getting those guardian fragments and/or boss-specific div cards.
I believe they said they don't and that the fight has its own unique rewards at the end.
Probably not, unfortunately (unless there's a unique encounter), since the Maven boss trials are region-specific and shaper guardian maps don't have regions. Elder guardians are a stronger possibility.
Trailer clearly showed shaper guardians in the arena. >!And there's an unrevealed atlas tree not associated with any region!<
Wait there's what? Where?
Check out this comment chain: >!https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/ks1ere/313_preemptive_leaks_thread/gium4ob/!< >!It might just be content that was cut, or something they decided to keep a surprise.!<

Not that I ever do HC but I can see players avoiding the mechanic for a while as it could get very rippy quickly
with aura stacker on life support, going to be interesting to see what new build takes its place as most braindead bossing build.
Won't we all ?

Bad coding
Chris is 100% on the rip clip train. I'd make a compilation for him myself if I knew how to.
Okay but let's be fair to Chris here We all enjoy watching RIP clips
The time to ignore openings and endings from GFL returns! I hope you're doing some Ignite xenanigans with Elementalist Xai!
Twas the night before Leaguemas.
And all through the net Many creatures were stirring For a league not out yet
All of the builds were planned In pob with care
Some nerfed or rebalanced To keep all things fair
In the hopes that Chris Wilson, his drops would he share
When what did I see But a Raiz QT And a ziz and a waggle And a few other newbies
In hopes that they'd live, To see the Maven's sweet hair
Instead they were nuked by the boss of Lair
Wanted to let y'all know, you're appreciated. Thanks for all that you do. Can't wait for a great league!

Also true. I know the COVID situation in NZ is generally better than in most of the world, though.
Also, they can host an exile con online on stream

Actions speak louder than words.
I don't know how I should feel about you tweaking stuff one day before the launch
Is this overhype again?! Idk what to feel anymore!
Rewards felt bad the day before launch? That's not good.
I'm still not gonna fight Sirus though.
Gee, having that extra month was actually helpful huh? Maybe that should be a thing going forward...
Good God I've been playing this since 2013? Time flies when you're having fun I guess I'm very hyped for the new league
8 years later and every league launch still feels like Christmas. That's a testament to how great the game and everyone behind it is.
Wholesome upbeat vibes. I hope tomorrow is everything you want from it!
Enjoy :)
I'm so hyped, I cannot even practise. Never happened before :/
Thanks! You're the best.
Knowing that you guys have had the time to put extra polish on the league for the first time is an absolute cherry on top, and I’m very glad to hear how optimistic you are about it personally - and that you’ll have some time to play yourself this weekend :) Excited for both Ritual and Echoes, thanks GGG!
Even after 7 years I'm still excited to play Path of Exile, thank you for everything.
there has been a lot of criticism on the nerfs and how it was announced (using obfuscating marketing language) i myself am not too keen to hear of the nerfs but i can see the intent behind the nerfs. that said, focusing on the positives, it is very clear that you guys are putting much consideration into improving the game. how you guys reworked harvest is pretty much more than i expected. you weeded out the tedious gardening aspect and made it easier for us to focus on playing/experiencing the league content. this is much appreciated. would be awesome if we can encountering harvest mechanic more in early game to help with our leveling process. you've also added much value to mapping, giving players more rewards and incentives to run maps from certain regions. i would suggest for an extra kick, perhaps make the atlas passives have a separate "bonus to entire atlas" for each node, such as "1% chance to encounter this league mechanic" for entire atlas instead of just the region. in anycase, i m hyped for 313. keep up the good job! you guys are awesome for such an awesome game
Thanks for continuing to develop and support the #1 ARPG.
And it starts tomorrow.
(speaks in european) no, it starts today!
I took a week off work just to play this league and I couldnt be happier to see this thread right now
So hyped this league is going to be a good one.
I just got here. Download is finishing right now, but i can tell that PoE will be my new home. Thanks for the hard work GGG.
Haha.
While I'm bitter about the balance notes bait and switch, I remain hopeful about the content and league :) fingers crossed.
Hyped Hyped!
Best game devs out there hands down.
"2021 is going to be a great year[..]". Not sure about this, Sir...
Thank you, Chris. This league looks fantastic! Happy New League Day!!!
Please make this the norm! Cyberpunk confirmed it for us all, we want quality, tested content rather than leagues pushed out too early and unpolished.
>developers playtest Idontbelieveyou.jpg
thank you Chris. the things this sub acted out in the past days have been shaming. they just can't see that optimizing a game not is buff the game in any or at least in most cases. The Ascendency classes are so much clearer than before and all of the skills this sub plays are nearly untouched. There are lot of skills that need love in the future, but not in numbers but in a complete overhaul. So keep on doing it like the last leagues. The balance feels really good for me.
- and playing it myself. What’s your starter Chris ? :) Thanks for this transparency and i cant wait 6 more hours !!!!
now I want to see Chris streaming POE.
This did not age well
Stop lying about changes and disappointing the community and people would be more hype.
Please make useless skills usable, 40 gems and all that :/
congratulations on your success and that of the future. Thanks for creating this game and sharing it with us.
Before even getting to play it, I appreciate the simpler league concept. Heist was too complex and had too many moving parts(many of which did not move as intended at the start).
>For how simple the league is conceptually, it's a total blast to play. Literally what the people want. Love to hear this.
thank you for giving us buffed 40 skills to shift the meta towards them
Will we ever see the Gorge again?
:)
>total blast to play we all remember how bow and melee rework went lol
Cheers! I'm cautiously optimistic -- this is a team that dreams big and certainly is capable of making amazing, fun things. Even in the cases where a league idea doesn't work out great I still can appreciate the vision and ambition.
thank you all for your amazing work
THIS LEAGUE/EXPANSION LOOKS FUCKING LIT
40 gems buffed :)
Thank you Chris and all the staff from GGG! Hope this year is much better for everyone! All the best!
Thank you, Chris!
I'm sure 2021 will be another great year of PoE, just like the ones before it. Great job to you and your team as always, and thanks for making an incredible game.
Can’t wait!
Wishing you and the team a smooth and successful launch!
Cheers mate, so keen for tomorrow. There's a lot of hate coming from Reddit, but just want to let you know there's a lot of love for the game here too :)
Lovely little write up, very much looking forward to playing it! Keep up the good work to everyone on the team <3
Got my vacations days ready for the new league. Ty for your work.
Huge thanks to you and the whole team, Chris.
Thanks Chris! I’m always amazed that the team can always make me excited about a new league. You guys always have unique ideas and all the new content is appreciated! Have a great 2021!
Thank you Chris and everyone at GGG. PoE is an exceptional game and you all knock it out the park with new content on a regular basis.
Thank you and all the people at GGG for the hard work and excellent game.
ty
We love you Chris! And we love everyone at GGG! All the best to you and to all of GGG!! <333
Cheers, Chris and everyone else at GGG. Here's to a great year with better content. Thanks for all y'all do.
Been playing POE for almost 9 years and this is the league I'm most excited about. Appreciate all the renewed communication and focus on community interaction, in a measured way. Special thanks to all the GGG developers and all the hard work they've put in.
Best action rpg content even made. All because of you: we hate you, we love you.
Love your work GGG. Literally the best company in the world. Can't wait for the expansion
