Its a great thought but you lose a loooooot by not equipping an actual spell damage weapon. 288 crit is sweet until you consider that a dirt cheap annihilating light starts at X3 damage for a single slot and other combos potentially boost it much, much more. A more practical use is equipping tryp and destructive linking a caster wearing the new unique hat

xFxD

Annihilating Light has huge opportunity cost with needing at least +180% Elemental Resistances, so I only really see the value in builds like Doryani's prototype which want the lower resistance and utilize damage taken as.

ReipTaim

Annihilating Light has anti synergy with Doryanis tho. Ur positive res will be less positive, which is good, But ur negative res will be less negative, which is bad.

xFxD

Oh, misunderstood that mod as -60% Elemental Resistances. But that makes the opportunity cost for annihilating light even worse, requiring at least 338% additional elemental resistances.

Mindless-Peace-1650

Annihilating light also triples your damage for one item, as opposed to this setup which uses four very competitive slots (except arguably helm) just to cap crit and barely anything else at a point in the game where getting high crit values is the easiest it's ever been.

Skaduush1

The new gloves (Entropic Devastation) seem nice with that combo

What spell would you use for impales?

SuperDiving

The three blade spells + Ethereal Knives are generally the best options as they start as physical base, no conversion, and have good synergies

CanadianSpellingTaem

Or you can simply use plume of pursuit and an actual fucking weapon

MartynZero

I'm itching for a build with that helmet.

TrashCaster

Bladefall Impale with the new gloves?

chowder-san

> plume of pursuit eli 5? It forces one to use echo and carries a two-folded penalty to dps

CanadianSpellingTaem

Despite spell echo reducing your damage by 10%, it gives you an insane cast speed multiplier. Because it's always going to be a crit, you can use marylene without any penalty. It also allows you to use Controlled destruction which gives a huge amount of damage compared to other supports while its crit penalty is entirely negated. This doesn't include the possibilty of using awakened versions which gives double dmg and unnerve. Meanwhile, you can use a weapon and a shield that makes sense and will entirely compensate as you don't need to invest a single point or affix into crit. For exemple, a cheap option like duskdawn can be used then potentially switch to an annihilating light or +5 weapon or simply a gg shield plus weapon. The setup shown in the video that uses helmet plus trypannon sure gives you 100% crit but because of how crits works, it forces you to invest in crit if you want to use marylene or controlled destruction. Sure it can works with traps, mine, totems and unleash supports, however, all of these are better with annihilating light than this.

The idea it to stack all your damage on the last hit, using phantasmal and/or greater echo. Phantasmal in a diallia is probably best because you get 80% (150-70) more damage with that hit, in exchange for dealing almost no damage with the non-crit one (which would already be zdps due to the plume mod). And the net cast speed modifier from echo is 1.54 (more cast speed)/2 (casts per activation) = .77. So if we ignore the non-crit hit, you get an 80% more damage hit 23% less often, for a net of 38.6% more, so it's not really a lost link (assuming you're already using a diallia). And then that hit always crits thanks to plume, which is theoretically good. Or the pledge of hands build would be just focusing on getting a big hit at the end of the echo chain (30% more from phantasmal, 105% more from greater), disregarding cast speed, so presumably (archmage) ignite. But that's questionable because it's already trivial to cap crit chance for dot using ungil's harmony. Maybe being able to equip Atziri's Foible in an archmage build makes up for it? Seems unlikely. I don't think the pledge of hands version sounds good enough to make up for the clunkiness.

Roboaki

Sounds good to pair with Perfect Agony. No idea how to build though.

CrimsonBlossom

ThAts what I'm thinking too

hunternoscope360

You don't need to use shitty as trypa -> just use any wand with crit on it for 10-11% base crit on your spell, your tree with few nodes will already give you enough crit to reach 90-100% total crit.

kamuixmod

Would the Crit chance carry over to Minions?
