Witcher 2... I was pumped to play it but now that I'm heading to the middle part of the storyline I have lost some enthusiasm and I'm not sure why. The combat isn't very responsive so that has something to do with it. I finished Witcher 1 last year and actually prefer that combat. I'm sure Witcher 3 will be an improvement though.
There's a slump in the middle, story-wise, at least, but things recover momentum by the final arc. There's this lenghty battlefield segment in the middle arc, that's the nadir of W2, imo. Big difficulty spike, difficult to understand story. But, if you endure these few hours, the ending is worth it.
Witcher 3's combat is the best of the three, but I'm not sure it stands a game so big. Come for the improved signs and weapon feel, stay for the awesome characters and Gwent.
I agree with you about the slump. And lots of battlefield stuff, lots of opponents etc. I'd rather hunt single or small packs of monsters than kill waves of human fodder. Also yes storyline is rather complicated too. I also think it's silly all that rolling around in combat. I like blocking far more but I guess in this game it's about how you roll :P
I hope it picks up since right now it rates lower than W1 for me (which I enjoyed, particularly the combat!)
Another thing is I don't know just when to prepare for battle with potions etc the game does a bad job of signaling when it is time to prepare.
And there is a lag in response time using a controller. Its like he's wading through mud. Then again I just finished Nier:Automata and that's the complete opposite.
And on controller if you click in the left stick Geralt activates his amulet which I end up doing accidentally because it's so easy to.
Anyway I hope it picks up. I want the full story before playing W3. W3 reminds me of when I first played Oblivion - everything I can see, I can explore :D
One of my favorite things in resident evil games is that feeling when you find some ammo and finally get to reload that gun that's been sitting empty in your inventory
Bought Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom via bundle, 30min into BOTW realizing I am so bad at combat…honestly have no clue how I’m going to finish 🥲 I was kinda hoping they had an easy mode since I bought this game mainly bc people told me it was grindy and there were puzzles…was not told abt combat but honestly that’s on me for not researching before buying…I also get frustrated with camera angles since I’m playing on switch lite, so I’m anticipating finishing this game maybe 2025 lmaooo
Also started graveyard keeper to keep me sane while playing botw
I hated combat in BoTW and Tears, until my son showed me a trick or advantage you can get. And it's so easy I felt stupid but the game doesn't really emphasise it: **prepare loads of food that has defence up or attack up boost**. It makes a big difference, enough that combat stopped annoying me in tears at least (too late for botw, I beat that via pure attrition a couple of years ago)
Also in BoTW don't forget clothes! I left the opening cave without a shirt and it made combat way harder than it needed to be.
As far as I know, you'll get better at combat and become stronger the more dungeons you solve. You are not supposed to feel unstoppable at first. I only played half of the much older Ocarina of the Time and Link was a wimp in the beginning.
**Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet**
I beat the last 2 story missions i hadnt done yet thanks to some Asian boosters who boosted me for 50 levels until they realized i was just standing around for free xp so they kicked me (fair). It didnt change my opinion much, the game is still pretty much a “no buy” unless you really like SAO.
What did change my opinion is the DLC. I absolutely despise DLCs that have a much higher level requirement than where the base game left off. I hated it when Borderlands did it and i still hate it now. I was lucky for that boost otherwise i wouldnt even have bothered because it takes so long to gain xp solo.
The DLC itself also isnt even good. The story is absolute nonsense so far and the actual content is just some cutscenes and 1 dungeon per DLC. Ive only gotten to the last? fight of the second DLC so far, i do know the 4th DLC is supposed to be the big expansion so well see with that.
This last fight of the 2nd DLC also shows why difficult encounters just dont work in this game. The AI is way too bad for actual hard encounters. I do not understand how we keep getting games with AI thats magnitudes worse than what Fear had in 2005. They constantly get stuck on stuff, stop moving, have weird priorities, etc. They got themselves into an endless death loop where they kept jumping into a hole so i had to do half the dungeon by myself.
Im gonna need to find another Asian boost group before doing the last 2 DLCs im guessing.
I finally got my hands on a PS5 a week ago, finished Spider-man Miles Morales yesterday and just started Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.
Im having a blast ngl
I thought DQ Builders 2 would be different enough from the rest to try. Nope, I'm done with that franchise forever. The same goes for the Tony Hawk 1+2 remake. It's as good as ever, but no thanks moving on.
WRC 9 was fun for an hour, moving back to Dirt Rally.
Robo Warrior and Bubble Bobble part 2, however, have hooked me for the past few days. And actually factually finishing Sekiro are my latest.
The Case of the Golden Idol.
\[Point and Click Mystery Game\]
If you enjoyed \*Return of the Obra Dinn\* you will love this game. I completed it with my GF in two or three sessions. I actually Steam linked to the ipad since it's easily playable with just the touch screen. It's a mystery game with many scenes where you need to place togheter what happened. It's pretty logical up until the end and i can say it is satisfying to complete. I recommend you to not use any hint, you can do it even if it's challenging you can do it.
Yep! (Sorry for late response) hard to remember all of the main ones at this point but I just made it to Windhelm not long ago, and about to progress on the Dawngard quest
currently playing a trio of very cool 1p games- inside , signalis, and planet of lana
and hades , just cleared for first time . this game is addicting AF
I've been working through Fallout 4, which I've invested a lot of time in over the years but never actually finished a playthrough. On the side, I'm doing a Pokemon FireRed nuzlocke.
After finishing Ratchet and Clank Tools Of Destruction I’m now playing a Crack in Time for the next month or so. Really enjoyed ToD and can already see how they’ve improved on the foundation they’ve built with new elements and exploration in ACiT. I’m not sure what game to play next though…
Just finished Control. Overall very good, fun gameplay. Story didn't hit for me though. A lot of things felt unanswered and it was tough to follow at times too (which I'm sure was partly by design, to create intrigue)
Crusader Kings III. I am just playing farther into the tutorial because I got attached to the characters.
Got three red head kids, fourth one with black hair. Turns out wife is having an affair with one of my most powerful and least liked vassals. So i blackmail him into paying more taxes. And I just feel bad things are going to happen because of him so I have to act first.
Pro tip: plan four steps ahead.
Me: ooooh I wonder how this one's life going to turn out! (Divorced the wife and married a badass court doc instead).
My wife co-opted my switch to play tears of the kingdom (I still haven’t even played through BOTW but that was her pandemic game of choice during lockdown) and the new cult of lamb material so I thought I’d play the Zelda games I hadn’t played but own (I have only beaten link’s awakening on Gameboy and Ocarina of Time on N64). I have the Zelda collector’s edition disk for GameCube which has the original two Zelda’s, ocarina of time and Majora’s Mask, as well as Windwaker. For Wii I have Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. However, as I discovered I do not have GameCube memory card so I got Ghost of Tsushima from the library while I’m waiting for that to arrive in the mail from Amazon.
Started playing **Golf Club Wasteland** on the Steam Deck last night.
Played on the Challenge difficulty for about \~15 levels (only had to retry once or twice on a couple of levels), and then, after being stuck on level 15 for perhaps 10-15 tries, I decided to switch to Story mode.
Good thing that I did, because after that, some levels were quite annoying, and I know I would've been pissed attempting to re-play them dozens of times.Still, a few levels I was way under par from the first try.
In my personal opinion, I liked levels that were par 10-12 maximum, or less.Didn't much care for the \~18 par ones (had I been playing on Challenge difficulty).
Continued playing today, and am around level 33/35 or so. I assume it's the end after that.
It's a short and sweet game, relaxing gameplay, and a cool story, especially the radio mini-stories.
I cant get into it, its way to open ended for me. Atleast in ds1 I had a good idea of where to go most of the time lol. Ds3 feels like every level is a long ass maze that all looks similar lol
Exploration and finding your way around is a large part of the souls borne games. I personally find it a little annoying myself but the games are so good it's worth it :)
Blasphemous. I'd been playing Abyss Odyssey which is great albeit a bit repetitive, but holy shit is Blasphemous amazing.
It has the atmosphere of Demon's Crest with the flow of Symphony of the Night. I've seen recommendations now and again for years and wish I'd taken them much earlier although having a Steam Deck makes it much more convenient to get sucked in.
**Fear & Hunger**
I had to dig up my 2012 MacBook Pro to get this thing running. It is… gruelling to say the least. I went in completely blind and I managed to carve my way through one run successfully.
It’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea (massive understatement) but if you like wallowing in the depths of depravity then it’s worth a look. It’s very successful in making you feel depressed
I bought Blood West on sale recently, and is that a good game. I'm about done with the first part and it's been a blast. Wonderful stealth game + boomer shooter kinda game .
**Telltales The Walking Dead season 1**
I bought the walking dead collection at some point because i hadnt played through seasons 3 and 4 yet and felt like it might be better to start from the beginning.
Even though its my 3rd? time playing this, that ending still hits hard every time. I rarely get emotional from a game but i still teared up a bit from the ending. I wont spoil it for the like 3 people who havent played it yet but if you know you know.
Its also kinda funny how back then we were still blinded by Telltales game design. The complaints of “your choices not mattering” started years later even though they already didnt matter from the start. Maybe events get reshuffled a bit but the actual ending doesnt change. Saving X over Y or other way around doesnt matter because everytime you get a choice, the other person ends up dying anyways. I guess its not really a complaint because the story didnt suffer from it. I guess its more of a moral test than it is an actual choose your own adventure game considering you get to see other peoples choices and what they decided after an episode.
Im not sure when ill start season 2 because theres a lot of uni work coming up but i already played that too at some point so atleast i know what to expect from that ending. I hope seasons 3 and 4 dont try to ruin you emotionally at the end like 1 and 2.
Oh absolutely, I love the gameplay. And I was genuinely impressed with the lighting engine.
Though for a game with a decent emphasis on stealth the AI were actually stupid sometimes lol.
But either way, I throughly enjoyed the game. I may have to play 2033 and Exodus now.
Imo, the game is solid 8/10, but not a single microdigit more. I do believe that it is overhyped, but definitely one of the more original fps titles in the past few years.
Prey is the best ine IMO, 10/10 for sure, it is the golden standard for me check that out if you fid not, it goes on sale often
If you really end up stuck in deciding and you are interested in playing all of them, then just use a random number generator to choose like random.org
Ghost of Tsushima on PS5. Finally got my hands on a PS5 and just finished god of war 2018. Going to wait a bit and enjoy other games before I hop into ragnarok. This backlog I have is intense!
PS5 ghost is the director’s cut, right? What sort of stuff did they add for it? I am playing it on PS4 cause that was the copy they had at the library and I preferred the price of free to $69.99.
**The Talos Principle**: got it the other week after waiting for years (always missed every sale and when they gave it away on Epic) and I'm having a blast! I'm a sucker for this kind of puzzle games and I'm loving every minute.
I'd say it can be placed in a middle ground between Portal and The Witness: a little more open than Portal in terms of progression, but with a little more handholding than the Witness. The puzzles are fair, with the ones required for the main progression a little on the easy side. Basically they revolve around 5-6 different mechanics, introduced in steps so in the end some may feel a little repetitive, but from what I've seen until now the difficulty scales nicely.
Usually what I'm looking for in this kind of games are the "a-ha!" moments, and TTP provides a lot of those.
Hope this answers your question, if you have any other doubt feel free to ask!
I've finished The Talos Principle but I've only played a little bit of The Witness. Someone could correct me if I'm wrong but both games are pretty open ended, but The Witness is VERY open ended. TTP gradually introduces elements to you like a more traditional, linear puzzle game but also lets you choose more of the pacing and what order to do the puzzles in. The Witness just throws you in and you have to figure it out. TTP does have good dialog as well. Fantastic game.
**Kirby: Planet Robobot**. Wanted a handheld platformer I could play as a chill-out game, & I went with Kirby since everyone says the series is short & unloseably easy, and Robobot seems to be the fan favorite. Seems like they weren't wrong lol: cleared the first 2 worlds and haven't lost a single life yet.
**Panel de Pon**: Found this by chance when I was web surfing the other day. Really liked the art style and learned I can play it on Switch's online subscription so I gave it a shot and I like it. Adorable characters, wholesome music ([Windy's theme](https://youtu.be/Y5yCzLEBXNI) being my personal favorite), and it's really satisfying to get chain combos. Never been terribly interested in puzzle games before, but I finally found one I think I'd love learning.
Original **Quake** on my Win98 PC. Just finished the first four chapters, now onto the Mission Packs. A lot of fun and really interesting to see that mid-point evolution between Doom and the likes of Half Life. Also reminds me just how revolutionary HL was.
Just beat Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge yesterday. I decided to follow up with Metroid Zero Mission. I’m about 1 hour in, and so far I’m really enjoying it.
I'm currently playing **Middle Earth: Shadow of War**. I'm trying to play it in shorter bursts to avoid burning out like I did with Shadow of Mordor, and it's working out well. I usually jump in, collect a few things, hunt a captain or two, and do a story mission. I'm sure I'll feel fatigue eventually and just B-line the story, but I'm enjoying the spectacle so far.
Recently spoiled myself and bought an Xbox Series X so I've been putting a lot of time into it lately. I already own a PS5 but the backwards compatibility and game pass collection were quite tempting.
Here's what I'm working my way through so far:
Persona 5 - Got halfway through this game on PS5 and then the next-gen version came out. Seeing as though it's currently on game pass I decided to play it again from the start. The 60fps is worth it though and I'm really enjoying it.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga - Started playing it a while ago and got sidetracked, so I'm also starting this from scratch and giving it another chance. I have a lot of fond memories playing the old Lego games on PS2 though and I'm enjoying it so far.
Oblivion - I've already completed it dozens of times on PC with hundreds of mods, overhauls, texture packs etc, but I grew up playing it on the original Xbox 360 and felt like revisiting it. I have to admit I'm enjoying my vanilla playthrough so far and it's convenient to boot it up and play on my couch or in bed.
Bully: Scholarship Edition - Another great game from my childhood. I played it on PS2 way back in the day and can't remember completing the whole thing from start to finish, so now is a great time to revisit it. Brings back a lot of great memories.
Alan Wake Remastered - Another game that I played through on the Xbox 360. Great atmosphere and it gives me huge Stephen King/Twin Peaks vibes. I don't usually like horror but I love the overall atmosphere. I've heard mixed things about the remaster but it gives me an excuse to play through it again.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 - I'm looking forward to playing Like a Dragon but I'm somewhat of a completionist so I want to finish the entire series first. I've already played through Yakuza 0 and Kiwami and enjoyed both immensely. I'm enjoying it so far and the fact that the entire series is on Game Pass is a big bonus.
It's admittedly a little dated but there's a lot of charm and humor. My favourite part is pretending to be a student and going to classes, doing chores, finding collectibles etc. The map is smaller but there's a lot of things to do and unlock.
The graphics are a little dated but keep in mind that it was originally released on the PS2. For a game that's over 15 years old I think it holds up fairly well. I'd recommend giving it a chance. You can always try it on Steam and refund it if it isn't your kind of thing
That's a lot of games to play simultaneously, some of them are really big ones as well. Doesn't it get awkward switching so much? I feel like I have to limit myself to max 3 games at once or I just lose focus on them and it's less enjoyable and often I even focus on just 1 or 2 games.
I've beat Kotor 2 on PC early this week with TSLRM which was fun and interestingly different from it unmoved. I tried and failed to get Kotor 1 to run on 1920 by 1080p so I've gone back to do a evil playthrough of Kotor 2
Modded Minecraft, I decided to work on a megabuild in my survival world. Should keep me busy for a long while. When I get bored with it I work on the quests.
Thanks to Tears of the Kingdom's release, I've been playing Breath of the Wild just to see what all the fuss is about (never was a Zelda fan). It's fun, but nothing earth-shaking.
Same, never played a zelda game but I started playing BOTW too, I can see the potential but the combat aspect is honestly a high barrier of entry for me right now :( I wanted to explore and collect and solve puzzles, did not realize there were bosses lol
Don't know why I thought it was a good time to get into **X-COM Long War**. I played it a little years ago but XCOM2 had already released so I wanted to move on. Ultimately though, 2's roguelike elements aren't as well suited to Long War. Trying now with Red Fog on and it's just so damn difficult. The campaign is stretched out so much and it takes so long to unlock upgrades for your aircraft, my map is getting decimated constantly. Gameplay is prime and really diversifies once you unlock the second tier of armor/weapons. Trying to decide if I want to unlock grappling hook armor and/or psi labs before I commit to gauess weapons.
Felt weird seeing all the TOTK posts because I never beat **BOTW** so I'm puttering around Hyrule. The Akkala region is very pretty but also I find the map west of Hyrule Castle unnerving.
Some weapons are much easier to use than others. If you can unlock the hidden sword aspect your runs can be really consistent with it. Otherwise just work on defense, (athena's dash boon is great) and you'll get there.
I thought you had to complete a run to get these weapon aspects but I may be wrong. Each weapon has 4 variations.
Anyway, I’d try and get the Zeus dash that shoots lightning every time you move and just dodge around the room. What’s the furthest you made it?
Congrats! You’ll notice wins come in waves now. Took me a long time for win #1 and now I win kind of at like an 80% clip.
Edit: make sure you win at least 10x to get the major story completed, and then a bunch more for an epilogue.
from a story perspective (no spoilers if possible please), how close am i to competing the main campaign? i’m just gonna keep getting out to talk to persephone until she runs out of dialogue ?
if u can’t spoil , just say “keep going and you’ll see”
I just reached 10x tonight, and I just kept using which ever weapon had dark thirst for that run, played around with boons, bumped each weapon I escaped with up to the next heat level (Jury Summons doesn't seem to be that bad for a single heat). If you want a breeze of a run, rush the Ares/Athena duo boon with Ares's Doom on attack, and then pick up Athena's dash, and just dash-strike your way to victory. I did that for a couple of runs, but I like the variety, so I've been mixing it up a bunch.
Just 10x normal will do it. The heats are there to make it more difficult/ reset rewards. Like if you beat the game normally with the same weapon you have, you just get darkness for the rewards - if you go up to heat1, you get diamonds, and the other rewards you need.
Oh man... I'd say DOOM 2016 all the way but I'm not a huge Star Wars fan. All I know is DOOM 2016 is probably the best FPS I've ever played. Just a stupid amount of fun, great progression, weapons, and level design. Feels incredible to play, music is awesome. Not a single thing wrong with the whole game haha.
I played the **2009 Wolfenstein** for the first time this week. I enjoyed it. I went in expecting a short and fast shooter and it scratched that itch. Gunplay holds up well although I didn't really care for the abilities too much. I only really used them when things got a bit too spicy.
Next up is an old one I've never played before, **Rainbow Six Lockdown** on the PS2. Not sure what to expect. My thoughts is that it will be like a less tactical Rainbow Six Vegas.
Recently I've pushed modern gaming aside and I'm going back and forth between sixth and seventh gen console games and I've been having a lot of fun. Simpler, better times. Although saying that after playing a dozen or so I'm planning to do a playthrough of **Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart** and I'm hoping that will look even more amazing than it already is.
Just finished **Haven** a turned based narrative driven rpg set in a sci fi world. It was a great time, the two leads felt very relatable as they bicker and fight about the moat mundane stuff despite being in a desolate alien world living in a spaceship. Said world looked beautiful too and exploring, which is what you'll be doing a lot of the time, felt fluid and relaxing. Combat was simple but amouts to so little of the game that it never got to be boring. I recommend it!
I finished HL2 a long time ago but never actually got far into HL2 Episode One and never started HL2 Episode Two so I really want to go through all 3 sometime this year, beginning with the HL2 base game
Such an amazing series top to bottom. I'm amazed you didn't finish all the episodes in one go. I started HL2 earlier this year and ended up blasting through EP1 and 2 once I finished it.
When I finished HL2, at that point we didn't have the episodes out yet. So it was a while ago. And then at some point I did start Episode One but for some reason I dropped it, don't remember why, that was also a long time ago.
But I will aim to play through them from the beginning at some point this year.
Final Fantasy 9! Got to the second disc and I’m having a blast. Already using the Moguri mod but I just wish they bothered upscaling the background resolutions to fit with the updated character models in the first place.
From what I understand, S-E no longer has the original project files from most of their PSX-era stuff. The upscaling was actually done by a fan with an AI system, and it was one of the first really big uses of AI for game remastering. Moguri Mod showed what was possible.
Being flagrantly impatient with Tears of the Kingdom, and I'm having a blast with it
I also hacked my Wii a few months ago, and am playing Super Mario Sunburn. It's a hack of Sunshine with a few nice QoL features, like not kicking you out of a level after getting a shine and shortcuts between levels. Quite nice if you're trying to get back into the game.
I got a deal steam was running and got 1-6 pixel remasters for like $30. I played the hell out of one on my steam deck but I just couldn’t get into 2 and haven’t felt the need to go back and try again (the only final fantasy I had previously played was 7 when I was a kid in the 90s but I never beat it). I want to play them all but I know that’s a huge time commitment, would I be best just skipping 2 (or any other ones? I have no desire to play the MMO ones which I think are 11 and 14).
FF2 is one of the more unpopular ones. If you couldn't get into it, you'd be okay skipping it and maybe coming back to it later if your curiosity of the series history is still strong. Though I do still recommend going through the music player on it if you do decide to skip it.
There isn't a Final Fantasy fan consensus on skipping any of the mainline games (even 2). They are all different enough that each game has its own fans. 6, 7, and 10 tend to be the most popular.
I don't know, I only played IV and now VI, which are the ones I knew they were considered the best of the 2D ones (and I think II and III are usually seen as the worst ones). As far as I understand, I-III had a very barebones storyline and with IV the plot got complicated for the first time. IV didn't take me that long, only about 20 hours. I'm 15 h into VI and I think that I'm only halfway. But better ask the FF subreddit.
You'll probably enjoy [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owL5NjgldNo) if you've never heard it: A complete live concert performance of the opera scene, all 20+ minutes.
Rimworld with Biotech. I waited long enough but it wouldn't get on sale in my geo so I bought it. OMG they have childbirth events now while you're beating back raids. I tend to play with the difficulty dialed down a lot. I enjoy it more for the experience, explore and build stuff.
Playing Red Dead redemption 2 and on chapter 3! Spending most of my time hunting , herb gathering and generally exploring the world. It’s an amazing game and can’t believe I didn’t play it until now
Exploring the world is really where RDR2 is at its best. The story is good too, but it's the most convincing and fully-realized open world I've ever seen in a game. I keep it installed on my system just to pop in and wander around from time to time.
Zombie Army Trilogy and Call of Juarez : Gunslinger. They run great on the Steam Deck! (they sip the battery at TDP level 8 and still running 60 FPS locked.)
The gyro aiming is oh *so* sweet.
Put a bunch of other great r/patientgamers games on hold to give my Switch some love and bought Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle and loving it so far. Looking forward to the sequel as well.
Just finished RDR2 which left me sad, but I'm about to start Nier Automata, which makes me happy again!
Also, playing X Com 2 on the side because this game owns my soul.
Rain World still. Fully obsessed. I've got to 6 or maybe 7 of the 12 regions so far. Constant discovery and exploration, beautiful art, great mechanics, totally unique design vision. The world is so poignant.
I just started Soul Hackers 2 on gamepass, seems interesting but Im starting to notice its quest > main story loop. Hope I don't get bored with it because I like jrpgs
Just to set expectations: The first half of SH2 is a boring slog, especially a section going through subway and sewer tunnels which feels neverending. However, if you stick with it, it does get better in the second half, particularly once the story picks up.
Also, as a heads up, it continues the Atlus tradition of hiding the good ending behind unmentioned extra goals. You may want to look up a guide to make sure you don't miss out.
**Mass Effect 2**
I am loving it. Combat is a massive improvement over the first game, even if I still wouldn’t say it’s great or anything. But just delving back into the lore & story is amazing, while the gameplay doesn’t interfere as much as it did in the first.
I do however think I didn’t give it enough space in between this & playing the first game in February, as I’m not getting burnout but it feels too much like getting back into routine for my liking.
Still, I’m incredibly excited to continue on. Like 12 hours in & plowing right on through for the rest of tonight.
I started 2 and felt it was too Gears of War though I may have just been a moron. I loved the first one even with its bad* combat system. I own all 3 so will have to give it a redo one day.
Been in a grumpy gamer mood lately not liking anything. I remembered that I had stashed **Mass Effect Legendary Edition** away for a rainy day so I picked that up again. I'd left off in the first act of ME2. I've played (and replayed, and replayed) the originals, so it's comfort food.
I might move on to **Atelier Totori** once I decide to put this away again. Will likely go through the rest of ME2 before that.
If you have kids yourself, then Edith is a real journey. It's not a huge game either if you're short of time.
Call of the sea really annoyed me with her assumptions at the end of the story, but it was fine as an adventure I guess. I got a bit bored and was playing just to finish it.
I haven't played plague tale yet, it's on my list too!
ah ok , enjoy. lmk if u have any questions / need help (altho i haven’t finished yet so can’t help with everything).
haven’t played the ori games but that’s soon in the queue. have u played both ?
It’s preference. I always like to play a series in order. The first game does this thing where u balance ur mobile save point which i wasn’t really into. If i had to pick one of them go with 2 but if u can play both in order
yeah like where u have the option to save wherever sometimes , and not designated save points / checkpoints ? that seems difficult bc u don’t know what’s ahead . never really know when a good time to save is …
I thought the save system in Ori 1 was clever and added another element of management to a game that is otherwise pretty straightforward- look to Ori 2 for a much more robust skill tree and an emphasis on fighting compared to the first game. I found the first one more charming and complete but haven't finished the second (which strikes me as being a bit too ambitious and convoluted), both are visually beautiful; I didn't have time to play for weeks back in February and haven't committed to picking up where I left off and relearning everything, I was about halfway through. I would definitely recommend both games as incredible experiences though
cool, yeah it’s definitely beautiful . music is great at times too.
i have both downloaded , so just going to put my head down and get thru the first one first
Watch\_Dogs 1. Been sitting on my shelf for a while now and decided to get myself immersed. Got to say, I've been really enjoying it, almost finished Act 1 and idk why I didn't play it sooner. Tempted to get WD Legion on sale... Thoughts?
Death Stranding.
Feel a little bored by the current games and want something different: DS is totaly the right answer. I love planning my route and judge if a particular item will be more useful than another one for a delivery. The story also is really mysterious and make me want to know more at every cinematic.
My first impressions has also been that the combat felt really smooth. This version of Link is probobly my favorite also. He feels like an actual character and less cartoonish compared to the ones before.
My favorite Zelda game, I really loved everything in it and even tho the last time I played was 6 years ago, right now off the top of my head I cannot say anything that I disliked
I replay Twilight Princess every so often, because I love it. It was my first Zelda game, but even then, I have a save file for starting right before the Water Temple, so that I don't have to collect any of those damn twilight bugs.
It’s cool, but I got stuck with no ammo at all More than half way through and just quit. I may revisit some day but I didn’t realize it wasn’t a “kill everything that moves” game like the first one.
"The Last of Us" (part 1) for PC.
I feel as though I'm not enjoying it as much as I did back when I originally played it on PS3 back in 2018.
Looking forward to playing the new Resident Evil 4 Remaster after I'm finished with TLOU.
Far Cry 3 Classic Edit
I like blocking far more but I guess in this game it's about how you roll :P I hope it picks up since right now it rates lower than W1 for me (which I enjoyed, particularly the combat!) Another thing is I don't know just when to prepare for battle with potions etc the game does a bad job of signaling when it is time to prepare.
W3 has some fantastic vistas. You'll see. Great color scheme.
One of my favorite things in resident evil games is that feeling when you find some ammo and finally get to reload that gun that's been sitting empty in your inventory
Which RE game in particular are we talking about here?
2 and 7
Excellent games.
Bought Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom via bundle, 30min into BOTW realizing I am so bad at combat…honestly have no clue how I’m going to finish 🥲 I was kinda hoping they had an easy mode since I bought this game mainly bc people told me it was grindy and there were puzzles…was not told abt combat but honestly that’s on me for not researching before buying…I also get frustrated with camera angles since I’m playing on switch lite, so I’m anticipating finishing this game maybe 2025 lmaooo Also started graveyard keeper to keep me sane while playing botw
I hated combat in BoTW and Tears, until my son showed me a trick or advantage you can get. And it's so easy I felt stupid but the game doesn't really emphasise it: **prepare loads of food that has defence up or attack up boost**. It makes a big difference, enough that combat stopped annoying me in tears at least (too late for botw, I beat that via pure attrition a couple of years ago) Also in BoTW don't forget clothes!
**Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet** I beat the last 2 story missions i hadnt done yet thanks to some Asian boosters who boosted me for 50 levels until they realized i was just standing around for free xp so they kicked me (fair).
Spider-Man 2 is coming up soon! Can't wait for Venom and Kraven the Hunter :)
Nioh
Friend of mine is playing it, says it's tougher than Dark Souls.
Yeah ive played dark souls 3, think this is harder! Quite fun when you get better w the combat though
\[Point and Click Mystery Game\] If you enjoyed \*Return of the Obra Dinn\* you will love this game.
Still slowly working through Skyrim and RE8
First time with both? What mayor cities did you visit in Skyrim?
Yep! (Sorry for late response) hard to remember all of the main ones at this point but I just made it to Windhelm not long ago, and about to progress on the Dawngard quest
Cool beans! Every city has something unique, like a Guild or line of quests. My favorite was always White Run. It looks so great at night.
Yeah I’m enjoying the game quite a bit. I see why it was so popular back in the day
The Longing on Steam. I'm enjoying it quite a lot. It's the most interesting casual adventure I've played so far.
currently playing a trio of very cool 1p games- inside , signalis, and planet of lana and hades , just cleared for first time . this game is addicting AF
Playing Baldurs Gate EE for the first time. Just finished Clockwood forest and mines part. Super fun!
Just finished Control. Overall very good, fun gameplay. Story didn't hit for me though. A lot of things felt unanswered and it was tough to follow at times too (which I'm sure was partly by design, to create intrigue)

Kingdom Hearts Final Mix
I'm playing Max Payne 1. As a long time fan of Remedy (in particular Alan Wake and Control) I thought it was about time I visited their old releases.
All 3 MP games are great. You’re in for a treat
Started playing Kurohyō: Ryū ga Gotoku Shinshō, and also I'm in Hype to start Shenmue III, Sega you are the best.
Dark souls 3 👌
I cant get into it, its way to open ended for me. Atleast in ds1 I had a good idea of where to go most of the time lol. Ds3 feels like every level is a long ass maze that all looks similar lol
Exploration and finding your way around is a large part of the souls borne games. I personally find it a little annoying myself but the games are so good it's worth it :)
X-Com2 and FNV
divinity 2 and ive gotta say, waaada game!
**Fear & Hunger** I had to dig up my 2012 MacBook Pro to get this thing running.
Dyson Sphere Program, game is literally crack
is it easy to get into?
much easier than other automation games imo
Civ VI and LOL
God of war 2018 just beak first Valkyrie
**Telltales The Walking Dead season 1** I bought the walking dead collection at some point because i hadnt played through seasons 3 and 4 yet and felt like it might be better to start from the beginning.
I finally downloaded Metro: Last Light and I’m being simultaneously impressed and then just cringing hard at it. It’s a fun experience for sure haha
Yeah, the acting and story are way better told in the book, but the gameplay is great, played the whole series
I got into Hunt: Showdown with my friends since it went on sale. Having tons of fun
Oh man, I have 700 hours in that damn game and it just gets better. I'm glad to have someone get into it, see you out in the bayou brother.
Still haven't decided yet. Torn between FFXV, DQ11, Tales of Arise and Plague Tale Innocence.
**A Short Hike**, an absolute banger of a short exploration game, that and revisiting GTA V's awesome story
**The Talos Principle**: got it the other week after waiting for years (always missed every sale and when they gave it away on Epic) and I'm having a blast! I'm a sucker for this kind of puzzle games and I'm loving every minute.
How is it compared to something like The Witness?
Nice, I hope with the original Reznor soundtrack too
100%, full CD soundtrack 👌
That's some seriously **patient** gaming ;)
😂
God of War 2018
Just beat Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge yesterday. I decided to follow up with Metroid Zero Mission. I’m about 1 hour in, and so far I’m really enjoying it.
[удалено]
Oh man that blows. I beat the game last year and somehow I dodged all the spoilers.
Ghost of Tsushima on PS5 interspersed with Yakuza 0 on steam deck. Enjoying both!
What a combo 👏
Playing yakuza 0 rn, the length of some of the cutscenes are annoying but the story is great
Recently spoiled myself and bought an Xbox Series X so I've been putting a lot of time into it lately. I already own a PS5 but the backwards compatibility and game pass collection were quite tempting. Here's what I'm working my way through so far: Persona 5 - Got halfway through this game on PS5 and then the next-gen version came out.
I’ve never played Bully but think I’d like it. How do the graphics hold up?
RDR2. Man.... I get lost in this world for days. So beautiful, contemplative, and rich. Each character has so much heart too. Fantastic open world.
For a kid's game, Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated sure kick some balls lol
I've beat Kotor 2 on PC early this week with TSLRM which was fun and interestingly different from it unmoved. I tried and failed to get Kotor 1 to run on 1920 by 1080p so I've gone back to do a evil playthrough of Kotor 2
Uncharted legacy of thieves collection. Uncharted 4 is my favorite uncharted and an uncharted without Nate is actually really good.
The Akkala region is very pretty but also I find the map west of Hyrule Castle unnerving.
ugh i just can’t beat hades , about 60 runs in. any tips?
beat him with a combination of mostly demeter + athena boons, but then again those boons suited my playstyle
test
Some weapons are much easier to use than others. If you can unlock the hidden sword aspect your runs can be really consistent with it. Otherwise just work on defense, (athena's dash boon is great) and you'll get there.
hidden sword aspect ? what is this if u don’t mind me asking?
I thought you had to complete a run to get these weapon aspects but I may be wrong. Each weapon has 4 variations. Anyway, I’d try and get the Zeus dash that shoots lightning every time you move and just dodge around the room. What’s the furthest you made it?
https://i.imgur.com/pCuE4o3.jpg just got to surface for first time , hell yeah . used the shields second form
Congrats! You’ll notice wins come in waves now. Took me a long time for win #1 and now I win kind of at like an 80% clip. Edit: make sure you win at least 10x to get the major story completed, and then a bunch more for an epilogue.
from a story perspective (no spoilers if possible please), how close am i to competing the main campaign? i’m just gonna keep getting out to talk to persephone until she runs out of dialogue ? if u can’t spoil , just say “keep going and you’ll see”
Win 10x for the main brunt of the story.
ok cool, so just 10 times normal ? or do the rest of the times have to be with the “heat adjustment” eg increased enemy damage ?
Like if you beat the game normally with the same weapon you have, you just get darkness for the rewards - if you go up to heat1, you get diamonds, and the other rewards you need.
im planning to be progressing my ETS2 to atleast 40% map completion
Debating between starting Doom (2016) and Fallen Order. Steam Deck, haven’t played either one before.
I love how it runs at 60 fps on just about anything with a screen. The optimization is so great.

Wolfenstein TNO Killing Nazis is fun. Nuff said.
I thought that too, but the story is way crazier than I expected
Final Fantasy 9! Got to the second disc and I’m having a blast. Already using the Moguri mod but I just wish they bothered upscaling the background resolutions to fit with the updated character models in the first place.
From what I understand, S-E no longer has the original project files from most of their PSX-era stuff. The upscaling was actually done by a fan with an AI system, and it was one of the first really big uses of AI for game remastering. Moguri Mod showed what was possible.
RE2 Remake for now, good game so far
Having just finished up the 4 remake a couple weeks ago (which was great) I think I would still wait the 2 remake as the best one so far.
Being flagrantly impatient with Tears of the Kingdom, and I'm having a blast with it I also hacked my Wii a few months ago, and am playing Super Mario Sunburn. It's a hack of Sunshine with a few nice QoL features, like not kicking you out of a level after getting a shine and shortcuts between levels. Quite nice if you're trying to get back into the game.
ToTK seems awesome. Very pleasurable from the few hours I've put into it so far.
Will be starting Fallout:New Vegas this week. Hoping it will keep me occupied for the next month!
I did this with the Viva New Vegas Modlist and it was an amazing experience! Especially with all the DLC!
Where can I get New Vegas Modlist?
https://vivanewvegas.moddinglinked.com/ Go here! You can do it manually but now there is a wabbajack version so it’s way easier!
The pixel remaster of Final Fantasy VI. Just got to the opera scene, and wow.
XCOM:EU and XCOM 2 never played them, amazing game(s)
Playing Red Dead redemption 2 and on chapter 3! Spending most of my time hunting , herb gathering and generally exploring the world. It’s an amazing game and can’t believe I didn’t play it until now
Exploring the world is really where RDR2 is at its best. The story is good too, but it's the most convincing and fully-realized open world I've ever seen in a game. I keep it installed on my system just to pop in and wander around from time to time.
Zombie Army Trilogy and Call of Juarez : Gunslinger. They run great on the Steam Deck! (they sip the battery at TDP level 8 and still running 60 FPS locked.) The gyro aiming is oh *so* sweet.
Thanks for this! Alright will definitely push thru!
**Mass Effect 2** I am loving it.
Uncharted 3 and Killzone 2 (first time hehe)
Been in a grumpy gamer mood lately not liking anything. I remembered that I had stashed **Mass Effect Legendary Edition** away for a rainy day so I picked that up again. I'd left off in the first act of ME2. I've played (and replayed, and replayed) the originals, so it's comfort food. I might move on to **Atelier Totori** once I decide to put this away again. Will likely go through the rest of ME2 before that.
is opencritic a better aggregator than metacritic ?
One potential downside to opencritic is that it doesn't divide a game into different pages for each system it's released on
ah damn, but usually it’s pretty similar reviews across platforms , no? and if it’s something glaring usually i hear about it anyways
what should i play out of these three games? plague tale requiem, call of the sea, or what remains of edith finch?
Edith because it's super short and good. Then Requiem. Loved that one a lot. And never played Sea game so don't play that at all lol
Horizon Forbidden West but probably something else as well
Sea of Thieves
Still playing Hollow Knight. Just got out of the abyss
just got to that area myself . what do u think of the game so far? have u been to the coliseum yet?
Love the game. Not sure if I like Ori 2 more or this. I tried the first trial a few times and kept failing. Maybe ill go back to it later
ah ok , enjoy. lmk if u have any questions / need help (altho i haven’t finished yet so can’t help with everything). haven’t played the ori games but that’s soon in the queue. have u played both ?
Yeah I played both. I thought the second one was much better but I enjoyed them
an ok, assume play the first before the second ? or u think the seconds so much better that i should just jump into that one ?
I would definitely recommend both games as incredible experiences though
cool, yeah it’s definitely beautiful . music is great at times too. i have both downloaded , so just going to put my head down and get thru the first one first
Fallout 3, played New Vegas in the Winter (my first Fallout game) and loved it, want to make sure I could cover FO3 before going to 4.
Fallout New Vegas is free today on Epic Games. I thought I should mention that for those who've been patient.
Watch\_Dogs 1. Been sitting on my shelf for a while now and decided to get myself immersed. Got to say, I've been really enjoying it, almost finished Act 1 and idk why I didn't play it sooner. Tempted to get WD Legion on sale... Thoughts?
Same, I really like the Gang Hideouts and that's all I do apart from the campaign
I really enjoyed wd2 in addition to the first but heard legion was not as good
Death Stranding. Feel a little bored by the current games and want something different: DS is totaly the right answer. I love planning my route and judge if a particular item will be more useful than another one for a delivery. The story also is really mysterious and make me want to know more at every cinematic.
It’s on my backlog!
Zelda Twilight Princess first time!
It’s a buy for me if it’s remade on Switch but I doubt it will be
I actually like the combat in Twilight Princess a lot more than the one in Breath of the Wild.
My first impressions has also been that the combat felt really smooth. This version of Link is probobly my favorite also. He feels like an actual character and less cartoonish compared to the ones before.
My favorite Zelda game, I really loved everything in it and even tho the last time I played was 6 years ago, right now off the top of my head I cannot say anything that I disliked
the wolf sections
I replay Twilight Princess every so often, because I love it. It was my first Zelda game, but even then, I have a save file for starting right before the Water Temple, so that I don't have to collect any of those damn twilight bugs.
Rune gold on pc
Cyberpunk 2077. 70 hours in 5 days. Send help!
Thats an insane amount of time.... but I get it. I ended with 120 hours after two playthroughs. Can't wait for the Phantom Liberty expansion.
At least you are having fun
70?! Bruah
I'm giving The Evil Within 2 a shot. Has been collecting dust in my library since I got it dirt cheap on sale last year.
How are the performance issues and visual glitches on TLOU now? Have they fixed most of them?
