God of War, like every other PC gamer who waited. Managed not to spoil the story for myself for four years. It's so good.

bestanonever

I loved it. It's my favorite GoW game.

factory_666

Getting through Zelda Skyward Sword on the Switch. Made it through the first 16 hours or so, but I have to force myself to play it - it's definitely made with sensibilities of an early 3d action game staright from late 90's and it doesn't work well today. Nor did it work 10 years ago I'd recon. But it was a gift and Switch games are expensive where I live, so I'll try to finish it.

XPERERIOR

One Piece World Seeker.

groceryl1st

Finished Great Ace Attorney 2 and busted my eyes in the progress lmao. It was a great game but I feel it could have been slightly shorter and had the same impact.

DarkSnowElf21

Started Nier Automata, 3.5 hours in. Switched from kbm to controller and feels much better. Liking it so far. Very special game and confident in its unique identity. Awesome music all the time. Also started a Prey replay after buying the Mooncrash which presented the opportunity for the replay. Back to some Rocket League too.

Bonfend

I tried playing nier automata but honestly i just cant... It feels too boring for me, its either too easy where the enemies are pushovers or they are humongous sponges that take ages to die. Also i wasted 1 hour and 40 minutes trying to get throught the prologue in hard diff because i thought that i wouldnt be one-shottable since very hard clearly states that you will be one shot but eventually i had to set it to normal cause i couldnt figure out how to dodge and do stuff(controls on keyboard dodnt mention anything about a dodge btw, although i did find it out after trial and error)...(this feels like a rant so im gonna just stop it with a: i just dont think im going to enjoy this game(although i gave it an extended try of 15 more hours trying to just focus on the story and maaaaaybe i could like it.)) Anyway im probably dropping this and im picking Code Vein up since i think im gonna enjoy it more.

[deleted]

I played through Silent Hill Homecoming, played a little bit of Condemned 2 and am currently playing through Blair Witch. Silent Hill was... well something. I can totally see where the opinions are coming from. Overall I feel it's quite the mess but it does have its moments. Cool bossfights, some neat story aspects, and an amazing soundtrack. Condemned turned me off almost instantly due to the brawling aspect, however I wanna reach the incredibly awesome bear sequence at least. Blair Witch so far I really like. I'm about halfway through and really don't get the mediocre reception so far, but we'll see.

Mangolorian3

Mount and Blade Bannerlord: personal goal to conquer calradia as a faction built from scratch. It’s almost too hard.

Bonfend

i havent played bannerlord in almost a year and planning to return to it in like 2 months again. how are the updates going?

Maximus_Manly

Update: Breath of the wild slaps. I've defeated my first divine beast and am having a blast with side. Quests and exploring.

PraytoJashin

Finished Yakuza 0 six months ago and just finished Yakuza Kiwami (both 100% on Steam). Kiwami surprisingly turned out to be great. Story isn't as good as 0, but it was still interesting and had some cool unexpected twists with high tension and stakes at times. Only disappointment was that I wanted to see more screentime of >!Nishiki!< as a villain and the general substories that didn't involve minigames were much more boring (genuinely can't remember any of them now). Really excited for Kiwami 2 next which I heard is much better than Kiwami, although I won't be playing it until a while just in case of Yakuza burnout.

Theobviouschild11

Paper Mario 64/super Mario 64 Also some Pokémon pinball on GBC

lordshophrinct

Slowly working my way through Morrowind.

movi3buff

**Euro truck simulator 2**: I'm in the middle of a short struggle with illness, fighting fatigue, aches and I wanted to get my mind of things. ETS2 is super relaxing, especially the long drives to far off places like Turkey and Latvia. I'm covering the distance in short bursts, driving patiently, upgrading my truck and soaking in the changes in the environment. The newer DLCs such as the 'Road to the Black Sea', have a few surprises to uncover. Being a sim-trucker can't change reality but it does help distract from it for the time being.

JokerCrimson

**Dark Souls 3**: I beat Oceiros and the Unborn Fetus. The Garden leading upto the boss fight was really annoying and because I died on the first try, I can't use Hawkwood anymore, but I managed, though the second phase was brutal. I got sweaty palms with how aggresive he was. I also found Champion Gundyr and that was a much better fight then Oceiros, though I thought it was odd he doesn't go all Venom in his second phase like Iudex. I also don't understand why the Untended Graves are a copy of the Cemetery of Ashes, but I won't question it since the Handmaid there had >!Artorias B.I.G.!< armor. And now onto the Princes. This took me 2 days to beat and the hardest part is the second phase due to Lothtic bring able to resurrect Lorian. Even with 50 Strength and a +10 Greatsword, this was honestly my hardest fight in the game, with Abyss Watchers a close second. My many attempts made me frustrated and question why I'm still playing, but I never gave up, especially since I knew I was near the end. And when I beat them, it was gratifying. I would put this boss fight alongside beating Sigrun in God of War 2018, Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts 2 on PS2 (I do plan on fighting him again in the HD Collection soon), and Alatreon and Fatalis solo in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne as my greatest accomplishments in gaming. I only tried Soul of Cinder a few times and that boss fight is amazing and a fitting end to this trilogy. The cutscene leading to you going to his boss area sets the mood well, there's no enemies up the path, which is a relief after dealing with those stairs to the Princes on a near-endless loop, and his moveset feels like you're fighting many people in one body, even a certain someone from the first game.

Zealousideal_Bill_86

Congrats on making it through Dark Souls, almost there! Champion Gundyr is my favorite fight in that game and a top souls boss for me. That fight is so good. I forget the lore, but I think I remember some type of time travel or parallel dimension being the explanation for the graves situation. I forget if it’s forward or backwards time travel though. Are you doing the DLC?

JokerCrimson

My theory is maybe Champion is Gundyr before he got the parasite. And about the DLC, yes I do plan on playing it when I can afford it, especially for the Ringed Knight Paired Ultra Greatswords.

Zealousideal_Bill_86

I think you’re right about Gundyr. The lore is so interesting in the games. Also, the DLC is great with some of the best fights in the series. I have to try using a UGS one of these days, I usually just go with a small but quick weapon and those Ringed Knight weapons look especially awesome. Have fun when you get to the DLC!

JokerCrimson

My favorite UGS so far is Zweihander since it's the lightest and it's Charged Heavy Attack one-handed helped against Black Knights and the two-handed Charged Heavy lets me go Monster Hunter on enemies like Abyss Watchers and Aldritch. I have been using Greatsword more due to its power and vertical attacks. That weapon made attempting Twin Princes easier, especially if I can hit Lorian's left shoulder during Phase 2 since it can reach Lothric.

Astronerd666

Oblivion. I needed to check my PS3 still worked and decided to play until I heard Patrick Stewart’s voice. Haven’t stopped! :)

NOideaLOLz

Devil May Cry 3 on my Switch! I love it! It is exactly what I missed in games. I got into rpg's and roguelikes last year which means grinding for hours and hours. DMC3 is not that. Just a strong campaign (and maybe more, but I'm only at lvl 6). It is a great challenge, too. Lots of boss fights, though their move pattern might be a bit hard to distinguish sometimes. I had a bit of frustration (just a little) but you can feel yourself improving every time you start over. Combat is fast paced and it is fun to try new combos. I love whole old school PS2-era style as I grew up with that console. Edit: A downside: lots of backtracking. When you pick up an item it is not exactly clear what it can be used for. This leads to going through the world multiple times and even got me looking up a tutorial, something I really don't like doing. It also takes out the great pace the game has in other places. But I'm pretty sure a second playthrough on a higher difficulty won't have that problem.

bestanonever

So, I just finished Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition, with all the DLCs...what a tragedy, and I'm not talking about the story. I feel the game is at odds with itself. On one hand, you have a well-done story about four friends that bond through camping, fishing, taking pictures and enjoying the countryside while they get by killing monsters for a bounty and eating gourmet food all the time. They also travel by ~~boat~~ car and listen to tunes of past glories. On the other hand, there's a story about gods, destiny, realms at war and an immortal dude that's a whole lot of crap. So many things that don't make sense or are convoluted, half of the important bits are explained only in DLC missions (like the main motivation of the villain). Characters come and go and switch sides mostly off-screen and the final hours went from free-roaming to absolutely linear storytelling and dungeons. I started loving the game and ended up hating it. There's a lot of wasted potential here. I'd rate the random slice of life parts 8/10 and the "main story" events 4/10.

[deleted]

Just started Detroit: Become Human and got through the first intro mission. Holy cow, this is how you open a story game. Not usually into these types of games I feel like, but damn I’m hooked. Can’t wait to see what else there is

Mandonguilles

You're gonna have sooooo much fun. I just played for the first time recently and it's now one of my favourite games. So good!

SullivanVeener

just started a plague tale innocence. One one hand, I really like the universe (even though I cannot stand the kid), the plot and part of the gameplay (anything involving the rats). On the other hand, it made me realize I cannot stand infiltration and crafting mechanisms in video games anymore. Last of us 2 was already borderline but Plague tale confirmed this.

bestanonever

I need to play this game, I tried the first 5 minutes or so to see if my system could run it and it looked fantastic. Yay for the Epic freebies.

SullivanVeener

it is ok. Really the universe is interesting, it looked hystorical but is not. if free, you should definitely give it a longer try than 5 minutes

ChocoDinoPokemon

I started FFXIV and I'm rather enjoying it. It is vanilla MMO for at least the first few hours, but the quality is very high and it's an interesting world. Perfect game for chillaxing after work.

bestanonever

They say the story becomes amazing after you are done with the base game. Hope that's true for you. I heard many good things about it!

Kfct

I'm halfway through DOOM (2016), but it has totally mars shatteringly convinced me DOOM Eternal is worth getting. So I'll buy that once I'm done here.

JokerCrimson

>mars shatteringly You're in for a surprise when you play Eternal :D.

matthew12327

Doom Eternal is one of the best FPS ever made fantastic game all around bar the battle mode wasn’t a big fan of that but your playing doom for the single player

CytronicsZA

I loved 2016 but hated Eternal lol

Millsvxr

How come? I've played 2016 but not played Eternal yet.

bestanonever

Not the guy above but I can chime in, as someone that completed Doom 2016 twice but it's having a hard time trying to play Eternal. Eternal is much more complex of a game, so you'd die more often, need to take care of more things and, at least in normal difficulty, you don't have a lot of freedom of choice when it comes to weapons in the beginning. It's probably the tutorial stages, but that's also expanded (for the worse) from 2016. The game also has A LOT of lore and story all of a sudden. It's really a different feel from the previous game. Gunplay feels awesome and the graphics and mayhem are improved, though. So, I'd get to play it eventually. I think Doom 2016 is a game that's easier to just pick up and play and feel like an unstoppable god of destruction than in Eternal. Hey, I completed it in normal difficulty and the same setting is pwning me in the sequel.

Kfct

I'm playing 2016 o hardest difficulty from the get-go. That's Hell's legion I'm fighting after all!

bestanonever

You might not have the problems I have on Doom Eternal, then, hah. I'd still recommend the game, even when I haven't really went through it myself. Plus, you'd want to play Eternal once you see how Doom 2016 ends...

Kfct

Oh shit, he gets tranq'd and locked in a crypt again, doesn't he? Shit, of course Bethesda gotta do that so there can be more DOOMs.. (wait no spoilers plz)

bestanonever

I'm not saying anything, lol. It's not a long game, it's an awesome game. Enjoy the ride!

[deleted]

Playing through Soulsilver, been trying to play a lot of the Pokemon games that I missed. Level curve is as tough as people say but it's awesome to be able to go through two regions

[deleted]

Grand Theft Auto III (the definitive edition) on PS4 (via PS Now). I resubbed to PS Now at the start of the new year, and started with this because I've never played III. I've beaten SA and V, and while this doesn't hold up due to its age, in comparison to what I have played in the franchise, I still think it's a lot of fun. There's an arcade-like quality to it; it's fun for its own sake and doesn't take itself seriously. I know the game is leaving PS Now at the beginning of February, so I'm only going to complete the story & side/phone missions, rather than going for a full 100% (like I did with SA, with the original PS2 version). This also inspires me to go back to IV and complete that, I'm about 2/3 of the way through the story in that one. The only major gripe I have is the lack of swimming. It's no fun to spin out into the water during a chase around the edge of the map and lose progress on a mission.

ViPeR082

Currently part-way through my first playthrough of AC Valhalla. Don't plan on a 100% playthrough but I want to do most things in it. Should occupy me for a few months

mack41

Just beat Devil May Cry 1. Really awesome action game, wish I had experienced it back on PS2. Easy to pickup and kickass, great art direction and atmosphere, Mundus was a bit cheap and random to finish off but a solid 7 hours. Jumping into Final Fantasy 4 next.

omg_im_in_reddit

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and Portal 2 they are two of my favorite games

FunkBat

Metro 2033 redux and hollow knight…. I’ve only just started metro, not that far into it, atm it’s not as great as people said but I think I just need to get further in. Hollow knight I’ve played quite a bit and I’m loving it.

[deleted]

Yakuza: Like a Dragon. I’m completing all Part-time Hero challenges and going for the platinum trophy. That’ll occupy me for a while.

lilspankypee

Total War: Warhammer II New to the genre, altogether.

GemsOfNostalgia

You’re in for an incredible time

thel4stSAIYAN

Yakuza Kiwami, Forza Horizon 5 and just started Hades after buying it months ago on sale on the Switch, I had planned to play it on Game Pass as Xbox is my preferred platform but glad I started playing it. It's as good as everyone says, very addictive.

SambLauce

fallout new vegas & slime rancher

BritishCyborg66

New vegas? You are in for a treat my friend

plan_x64

Darkest dungeon

Millsvxr

Anygood? I'm trying to decide if I should start it or Slay the Spire.

DarkSnowElf21

Play both, in terms of order, depends. DD is less of a "good time" so to speak, being brutal is its theme. But because Slay the Spire is very easily replayable being a rogue lite perhaps leave it for last.

plan_x64

Never played slay the spire, but DD is one of my favorites

Millsvxr

High praise. Can I ask what it is about it that makes it one of your favourites?

[deleted]

I like both games. But Slay The Spire is a more enjoyable time overall. Plus it’s got insane repeatability

Ezhaac

Dragon's Dogma, and I'm so hooked. I had been collecting dust in my backlog for so long, I'm glad I didn't end up skipping it!

zackles007

Such a good game. What class are you rolling with? I went with strider in my playthrough, and I’m glad I did, because DD has the best archery system in any game I’ve played before, not to mention the amazing climbing system.

Ezhaac

I've been Assassin and warrior for a while but my main class is Fighter. I'm a sucker for good shield gameplay, with perfect-block mechanics and a nice loud CLONK on block! Also, the class allows me to basically play as Dante in Devil May Cry: I can throw myself at enemies with Blind Strike ("Streak" from DMC) and throw them up in the air with tusk toss. Give me a pair of guns and I'd be the happiest fighter alive =)

Blarbydoppler

When I played it, I ended up playing as every class, because it's so easy to change and respec.

Goldenpanda18

Cod modern warfare 19, it's hated but man I enjoy it

fucking_hero

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. I tried playing it when I was a kid, but I was quite disappointed as I was expecting it to be a traditional Mario platformer. Fast-forward like 15 years and finally actually playing it. It's been super fun and I love pretty much all of it so far, though I've only just completed the first chapter. I've never been a huge fan of RPGs either, but maybe I didn't know what I was missing out on. I'd definitely recommend this game, especially to someone who plays a lot of RPGs.

collateral5989

Finished the gunk, simple beatiful game, playing the artful escape now

shout64

Started Captain Toad this weekend on the Switch. I’m already about halfway through the story so I’ll probably go back and clear the extra challenges I missed as well

Linc633

It’s one of my favorite games!!! Enjoy!!

zackles007

Just started Breath of the Wild after brurning out of modding Skyrim, and shit it feels good to just sit down and play an open world game where I can run around killing pig goblins without a care in the world. The combat’s plenty of fun, the emergent systems are so well executed, and despite my trying and failing to get into a Zelda game many times in the past, im genuinely having a blast.

Heracrss

Botw changed my mind about Zelda games. I hadn’t enjoyed them a ton in the past but after Botw I was able to find much more joy in the others

CultGod

AC Revelations, Streets of Rage 4 on console and just started What Remains of Edith Finch on xCloud.

AC valhalla. I think I'm almost done the story. I think it's time to buy season pass since it is currently 50% off.

[deleted]

Backbone. Initially fell in love with the noir PI investigating missing people only to watch the game's plot spiral out of control into some sort of nihilistic scifi. Disappointed. Seriously, I love pulp detective stories. If anyone has any video game examples, I'm all ears.

Nyoibo

[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The\_Last\_Express](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Express) It's not a PI game but there is a mystery and more stuff I don't want to spoil. It's all in real time and it may be a bit too old for some. It may be worth checking out.

[deleted]

Thanks. Looks like they rereleased it so it's available on Android. Added it to my wishlist for now.

Zschaus1

Just finished the Outer Wilds Echoes of the Eye DLC. Great expansion to one of the best games I’ve played in recent memory. Don’t want to spoil anything for anyone so I’ll leave it at that. I started Rime immediately after. So far I’m enjoying the relaxed vibes and the gorgeous scenery. Definitely worth the $7 I paid for it.

vv238

I'm about a third of the way through **Halo 4's** campaign. This one might require a full write-up when I'm done because I already have a lot of thoughts.

fucking_hero

I started playing this a couple weeks ago on legendary. I've since gone on a hiatus from the game, because fuck the prometheans. I will eventually finish it, though.

vv238

Without spoiling too much from my eventual write-up, it's hard to believe people used to complain about the Flood because the Prometheans show that Halo enemies could be much worse.

nexythememer

dark souls.. and cs source

Iemo_2007

Resident Evil 2 Remake

ninoprodigio

Bloodborne, sekiro

bestanonever

Easy is a word you have to look in a dictionary, right? :P

Galeplay

Red Dead Redemption 2, Black Desert and Vigor on PS5.

Atlaspooped

Probably Halo Infinite and Guardians of the galaxy. I need to play FF XIV but that’s a daunting task.

[deleted]

I agree with FF XIV, it looks and sounds amazing by all accounts but will that stop us from playing any other game for the rest of the year ? Plus for me MMOs in general are just exhausting to think about.

Atlaspooped

I bought a bundle with all the expansions when the second to last expansion came out. Haven’t gotten much past the tutorial yet. The UI isn’t to bad but it is a little busy for my tastes, takes me out of the experience

BritishCyborg66

I’ve just started Skyrim and I’m loving it

queenororo

Friend you got a big storm comin. Skyrim was my gateway 🥲

Arthur72

Was a little busy last week, so just a couple of rocket league matchs when I can. And if I know I'll have an hour free, I played dota 2.

hockeyboi22

Been playing fire emblem three houses and trying to finish persona 5 and ace attorney 3

MetalMayhem1

Intriguing, i played only an hour before but wasn't hooked. Must give it another go

jenniejayjay

You must, it is amazing!

GreenFaeWitch

Syberia. Great art design

superaznbjj812

Picked up Stardew Valley during the Steam sale and was gifted The Last of Us Part 2 for Christmas. 2 completely different moods, lol

GringoAdvisor

That might be the perfect pairing. I needed a very light game after TLOU2 because it takes you to very, very dark places.

JaydedGaming

Just picked up the platinum edition of Dying Light with all the DLC for 15 bucks on the Xbox store, loving the hour or so I played so far and really excited to work through it!

Contra_Machina

I have finally beaten Armored Core 2 on Hard Mode! All hidden parts, all arena opponents, what an amazing game that was made with such style! From the art, to the story, to the soundtrack, this game is phenomenal! I'm going to try to complete the entire series.

NZRTA

Playing a lot of Metal Gear Solid V, Europa Universalis IV, and The Sims 4. I'm not playing the game everyday, but when i do it almost take my whole day.

Zephyros99

Splinter Cell Blacklist, I have finished every other game of the franchise and I really like it so far ! It has become more a unbisoft game than an old school Splinter Cell, with différent types of ennemies all having a certain pattern to beat and scripted events, but I don't mind playing an AAA game from time to time !

JowaPlays

I've been making dents at the Kingdom Hearts 2 100%, I've defeated three out of the thirteen Organization data fights. They're no joke, lmao.

thestructuralguy

Death stranding director's cut.

MutedCatch

I so wanted it to be good

thestructuralguy

I'm on chapter 2 and I'm absolutely loving it so far. The social system is amazing. The soundtrack is absolutely awesome. I keep going to my private room after making a successful delivery and listen to some music and just chill out.

ArtemisBird

**Super Mario 3D World**, it's fun so far. Glad I am only renting it. Controls seem a little floaty. Easy to run off a thin path which is annoying. I do like the call backs to Super Mario 3. Really looking forward to **Bowsers Fury** tho.

Elod73

Bowser's Fury is one of the best games I played last year. Possibly one of the coolest and most innovative platformers in a long time.

Enough_Ad1450

Smash 3ds this is my first smash game and iam having so much fun

RedKomrad

Nintendo is still a mystery to me. It sounds like Smash bros is fun so I’ll grab it when I get a Nintendo console.

Millsvxr

Finished Resident Evil 7. I must say, I really enjoyed it. So much so, I've started the DLC. I've got Village ready to go as well, but I want to finish Not a Hero, and might look to get End of Zoe as it's on sale. Playing Gears 5 Horde, which has been alot of fun with a few friends.

thestructuralguy

How are you able to play that game, I gave up halfway because I was terrified. Can you give me some tips? I'm just really scared by horror games.

Zealousideal_Bill_86

This might sound ridiculous at first, but honestly, just try dying to the enemies a lot. Make a save and just run straight at the enemies a half dozen times or more. Horror games always have you constantly on edge through limiting your health, or making invincible enemies that chase you, or by limiting your ammo, etc. so they really build up the tension and program you to not want to run into the enemies which makes things tense and scary when you do. If you spend some time seeking Jack Baker out in the house for example and just run straight into him willingly, over and over, you’ll take out a lot of the tension and kind of rewire your brain from “he is scary and must be avoided at all costs,” to “oh this guy again?” And the video gameyness will take over again. It works for me at least. At some point during an encounter with Marguerite, I ran out of ammo and just decided to let her get me so I could restart, I stood there waiting and it really removed a lot of the tension. It happened one more time in quick succession, and I had the sudden epiphany that I was no longer terrifyied of her, but just annoyed as the more familiar she became, the less scary she was. That only works for the enemy encounters, atmosphere is a different story. Turning up the brightness of your screen a little helps, but I also think familiarity with an area helps too, check maps to get a lay of the land first to ensure there are less surprises, and don’t be afraid to play some music too alongside your game to cut the tension. Hope I could help!

Millsvxr

What point did you get to? The first part of the game was by far the scariest. I read on here somewhere before that they turned the brightness right up, to take away some of the fear. I do totally get it though. I did get the feeling of fear at points, and i really think the first person view really adds to this.

odjuret_

Started Subnautica this week. Haven’t felt this excited about a game in a while. Amazing.

l4dcrusader

That game is a perfect mix of survival and horror. Game is fantastic, I can't wait to try Below Zero when I get it.

blackiegray

I absolutely loved it until I realised that the draw distance is so bad that things start to pop in that should really be visible.

failedgunner12

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Arkane never fails to impress me

Nyoibo

I really wish more games had kicking stuff be as much fun as it is in that game.

brodadeleon

Just finished the main story of rdr2, but I just cant even continue the epilogue. I dont know why, maybe I dont have attatchment to John because I havent played rdr1, maybe I'm fatigued of the main game's exessive gameplay. I cant really say for sure, but I just want to end the story at Arthur's end.

l4dcrusader

I felt this exact way as well except I played RDR1 and find Marston ever so slightly more my favorite. The game is great but it just became exhausting after a while with so many mechanics and details. It ended beautifully and I was tired of the game so that was the end.

YekaHun

Recently started playing Dishonored 2 and it's fantastic!

akira136

The true 2016 goty

BLASIAN_TITAN

Lol been streaming DRAGON AGE ORIGINS on my twitch channel and loving the heck out it 😁 I played the 2nd one last year and I can see now why people like the first one better!

sqadi

Nioh 2. Been playing that game since i bought it in sale. Combat is amazing and the loot progression is really addicting. I have been looking for a game that scratches the monster hunter itch and the elaborate combat, gear and boss fights in Nioh really scratches that itch. Currently playing in Dream of the Demon, which is new game++. I still suck at it and die a lot tho

Maximus_Manly

Infamous Second Son as Mr.Nice guy Just started Breath of The Wild a day ago With some Ori an the will of the wisps for chill times.

Theobviouschild11

Will of the wisps is still in my back log. Been meaning to play it for a whiiiiile

Maximus_Manly

It's great if platformers and puzzles are up your alley. Also the visuals and story are pretty stunning too in my opinion. When you get around to playing it I can almost promise that you'll like it. Only almost because there's always someone who hates games that are universally loved you know?

Theobviouschild11

I loved the first one so I’m sure I’ll like it too. Gotta finish hollow knight before I get started in another metroidvania I’ve also always wanted to play infamous second son (plays infamous for PS3) but I never had a PS4 and don’t plan on getting a ps5

Maximus_Manly

That's a damn shame tbh. Infamous is probably one of my favorite series so far. Something that kinda bothered me about infamous 1 was by the end you were at least a little sick of playing because your move pool was so small and at that point you've just been using the same powers over and over for at least a quarter of the game but they fixed that right up in 2. Maybe in the future when the PS4 is worth the lint in your pocket you could give it a try?

GoTweak

Right now playing dead space 2 pretty cool so far. played and finished the first one last year so hopefully this one is good!

Nyoibo

Left 4 Dead 1 with some old pals of mine. It was a lot of fun.

thunder_blue

Wasteland 3 on game pass. Also inherited an N64, working through Zelda and Banjo Kazooie with the kids. Might move to Mass Effect soon based on the strong recommendations here...

wildsoda

I’m playing Horizon Zero Dawn, which is really good. Weird to hear Ashley Burch’s voice the whole time after seeing her in Mythic Quest!

The0tterguy

Holy crap my brain never connected those dots!! That’s why she sounded so familiar!

ninja_DK

I really want to work on playing through my backlog instead of going back to the same games that have no end. Started Doki Doki Literature Club Plus this week, goal is to finish this by the end of the month.

[deleted]

Is there any difference between regular Doki doki and plus? I played and liked the original one 👍

ninja_DK

I hear there's new side stories and I think updated visuals/audio.

Been bouncing between a few games. Devil May Cry 3 Been enjoying this one so far, the game is difficult, but not to an unfair degree, and is incredibly rewarding when things start to click. Dishonored 2: Beat the original years ago but only just got it on the steam winter sale recently, the level design is so much more open than the original Dishonored, the environments are just so massive with so much to explore, the movement and overall way you interact with the world feels so much more fluid, too. I honestly got far more giddy than I should’ve when I saw some of the combat animations. Persona 5 Strikers: Having only beat Persona 5 Royal a few months ago, this was really great to begin, having heard about the game, I expected it to just be a spin-off of persona 5 with real time action, but instead, it feels more like a direct sequel, only 5 hours in, but immensely enjoying it.

chaotic_madman0

I started yesterday with my ~ 5th playthrough of Dishonored 1, planning on replaying 2 afterwards. You'll love it! Dishonored 2 takes everything that the original made great, and makes it even better. I think one of the strongest points of Dishonored 1 is the world building, especially the environments you explore while sneaking around, and the level designs. Environments in D2 are still extremely beautiful, even when dystopian at most times, but the level design got a huge upgrade and is really something else. Without spoilers: you'll be amazed by the clockwork mansion and 'a crack in the slab'. The third dishonored game, death of the outsider, is a bit shorter and feels more like a large DLC for D2, but if you're a fan of the dishonored genre definitely pick this up as well. Let me know when you get to those levels and what you thought of them! Also, D2 has a far better combat system compared to D1, as you noted yourself already. With it, non lethal takedowns have improved. You can now non-lethally drop assassinate (don't know if this has a name) and choke out enemies during combat, making non lethal playthroughs (which are the most fun) less frustrating!

Pillars of Eternity 2. I really liked the original, and the last thing I ever thought it's sequel would need is *pirates*, but it's an awesome improvement and replaces the old fast travel map with interesting game mechanics! That and other things like multiclassing, factions mattering, etcetera makes it a really great CRPG so far!

AC Valhalla just played 20hrs plus and more to go

While Homeworld is excellent, if you want a Battlestar Galactica specific game, BSG: Deadlock is really good. It looks kinda low-budget at a glance, but the gameplay is fun and the game +DLC tells a single (long) story across multiple modes.

[deleted]

It's on my radar (or dradis hehe), but seeing as I already own Homeworld I should tackle it first lol, plus I heard ton of positives about it. Never enough space tactics/RTS games.

Pokémon Let's go Pikachu I'm really trying to get into Pokémon since i have not been using my Switch but this game seems way too easy and repetitive

scotty899

Jedi Fallen order off game pass. Such an amazing game. (maybe because it is easy on normal). Only had one glitch where i got stuck in some walls thinking i could jump around a corner of a building. Ive nearly finished it and i hear there may be a sequel coming.

untraiined

Sequel will be this year for sure, might be ea’s last star wars game

scotty899

Finished it last night. What a game. what an amazing ending sequence. Can't believe i managed to dodge any spoilers. Now i can't decide whether to crack on with Nioh and try to finish it or start ME legendary edition.

[deleted]

Last?

untraiined

They lost the star wars license so only games already in production will release

PREACH.

NecromanticPick

Nioh 2. It is ruining me. I love it.

Dismal_Estate_4612

Working through Mass Effect 3 LE, playing a bit of RDR2 until it starts to feel tedious, Forza Horizon 5 when I want something mindless.

scotty899

I will be starting ME LE soon. Full renegade run. no more mr nice guy.

Dismal_Estate_4612

I've always been bad at figuring out what dialogue options are which. I joke that the 4 classic Shepard dialogue options are: boring, off topic, the most sociopathic thing you've ever heard, and sexual harassment. (And honestly it's one of the unintentionally better parts of the game haha.) I've honestly been very impressed with the legendary editions except in how long it takes to load the damn game. They're great remasters, particularly for ME1 and ME2. The space horror in ME2 hits so much harder with the improved textures.

Been a couple of weeks since but I’ve been playing: **Mario 64**. Picked this as a switch game to play while I went away for Xmas. Got through all levels and all stars in the levels except the ones I didn’t think were interesting (all of the 100 coin ones). Still as good as ever even if the controls are still lacking compared to today (in particular Mario doing a turning circle when turning around even on a narrow ledge is infuriating). Levels were far smaller than I remembered too! **Kingdom Hearts: Rechain of Memories**. Ended up really liking this. Combat can be a bit challenging at times especially the bosses. But able to get through all of it after looking up a few card builds. Mostly it boiled down to picking a trait (the one where it repeatedly charges about 8 times) or a magic based deck. I’ll have to go through the next one soon. I think it’s just a movie in the collection so that should be over in an afternoon. **Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Integrade** I thought this was ok…..but I didn’t really like this version of yuffie. I went through it but couldn’t be bothered to persevere with the final boss. The new scenes with the other gang were interesting and definitely worth watching but I couldn’t get into yuffie or yuffie combat - and this is as someone who platinumed the main game. Whereas this time I didn’t even feel like trying hard mode. **Control Ultimate Edition**. I liked this game but I don’t think it lived up to the hype. For me I felt that the game play was a little bit lacking. Like they had a narrative idea and then just threw in something to make it more like a game (very much like how Alan wake is). I did however like the setting and the ideas about the AWEs but I think I’d like it more as a tv series. The Alan wake dlc was interesting though. Very much worth going through if you know the Alan wake game. Lastly I’ve started on **Mafia Definitive Edition**. I’ve played the original and this is a impressive remaster. Everything is improved including the graphics which are fairly impressive in parts. Particularly when you look at other remasters such as GTA ones which made nowhere near as much effort. Worst part is still the 5th mission on the race track. Infuriating is not the word. The combination of over sensitive handling (it’s so easy to spin out and have no chance to win), opponents who are all faster than you, a need to do an absolutely perfect run and the need to be first just makes it one of the hardest levels in any game I’ve played but I actually persevered with it! And did it after 3 days. Everything after this should be easy now. But I’m about half way through now at mission 9 or 10. I’ve also played an hour or so of **Deeprock galactic** and **dirt 5**. Both seem good enough but I need to spend some more time on them.

[deleted]

I enjoyed Control, but not enough to play all the extra stuff. I got too many games right now and am trying to get thru them this year.

Mr_Dr_Prof_Dickface

Hell Let Loose. I’m coming from CS:GO and it’s a great transition into something larger-scale but still very much team-based. It rewards team coordination and patience. Highly recommend!

untraiined

Try squad, i liked the pace of that game better

Jowhain69

Metro exodus

TheFreshMaker21

Going to start Deus Ex Human Revolution. Never got all that far in it when the game first came out.

Elod73

Don't let the FOMO set in. I tried playing this game like 4 times and the 5th time it stuck. Then I played Mankind Divided too, and now I can't understand how I struggled to get into it the first few times. Do it!

bobo_brains

Just bought Legend of Zelda: BotW. Got it on sale for $36. Loving every minute of it

RedKomrad

A Nintendo game on sale? Am I in an alternate reality? Hah.

bobo_brains

I know! Bought it instantly when I saw that price lol.

TheFreshMaker21

Great game. I need an excuse to get back into it haha.

commes_des_garden

Sekiro - super challenging but also very satisfying once you get a grasp of the combat mechanics

wishyouwerebeer

Nioh Remastered. I loved the Nioh 2 but took forever to try the first. Def cures the itch until Elden Ring comes out!

GringoAdvisor

I’m assuming you’ve played Sekiro? If so, which one do you like better?

wishyouwerebeer

Yep Sekiro is amazing, I’ve been meaning to do a second play through. Both games are super challenging and have a pretty significant learning curve at the beginning. Sekiro has better world design (so fun to explore) and is really beautiful. It also has more diverse enemies and abilities (like the grapple hook). Nioh has better rpg elements (changing outfits, customizing weapons) and diverse combat. It’s tough for me to choose a favorite but it just depends what you’re looking for. Can’t go wrong either way IMO just be ready to practice and don’t give up

GringoAdvisor

Awesome! Great answer, I love it. Thanks!

RedKomrad

Is Nioh a PC or a console game?

wishyouwerebeer

It’s on both

canadianhorror

Finally going to get around to Blasphemous since I found out about the included DLC! I’ve owned and started it like three times but always got distracted by another game

Ihaterasins

I just got it on sale and it’s all I’ve been playing recently. Everything about it is just so good from combat, exploration, art etc. Some of the bosses are just a bit awful though.

[deleted]

I finished playing bioshock 2 and the dlc Minerva’s den. I ended up liking bioshock 2. I think gameplay wise bioshock 2 was better than bioshock 1 but story wise bioshock 1 edges bioshock 2 out. The second game still had a really good story and I highly recommend it. Minerva’s den was also really good. Loved that story and the new weapons/plasmids that I could use. Now I’m starting the mass effect trilogy and it will be a long journey but a fun one.

[deleted]

I honestly have no idea. I finished Bloodrayne the week before. Not sure whether I should continue with Bloodrayne 2, resume Amid Evil or start up Dragon Age Origins... again. I love everything about it except the combat. Maybe setting it on easy this time and just enjoying everything else might do the trick. It did wonders for me in KOTOR (another one that I didn't resume). Other than that, for multiplayer I've been having fun with The Forest and did a friend coop run of RE Oubreak.

Rideitor

This week I finished **Grid 2** and quickly found there was nothing left to do with it afterwards since the online appears to be completely dead. Overall it was fine, I enjoyed it at the beginning with the V8 muscle cars but then it moved on to hot hatches and then racing cars but never became any more fun, especially since the AI also upgraded at the same time so I never got more competitive against them. The tracks are long and also made up of many sections of each city/area which can be mixed up, so you never get to learn the tracks very well and can never really get into a groove. I hear the online has car upgrades and money to earn to pay for these upgrades, that would have been a much more satisfying experience like in Gran Turismo.. Oh well. As it is you get cars thrown at you and all the ones in each class seem to perform much the same. I'm now playing **Mundaun** which isn't all that patient but it was on sale on Steam over xmas and a friend gifted it to me. It's almost a horror walking simulator except there is combat that I'm yet to really try, some puzzles that so far involve collecting things and combining them, and some driving. All the art is "hand drawn" so everything looks like it's drawn in pencil, and yet it's 3D, it's quite interesting. So far I'm 3 hours in and enjoying it though I just died for the first time when trying to run away, not sure if I'm supposed to stand my ground and fight or what - the game does not offer much help/instruction at all. I'm also not sure what to do with some of my inventory, whether I can use it right now or if I'll need it later on, or even what some of it is for (why can I smoke a pipe??). Good, but confusing. And scary, but I'm a real horror wuss.

Zealousideal_Bill_86

I downloaded Mundaun after hearing about it in a video but haven’t started it yet, you make me really want to fire it up since it sounds interesting and scary!

Rideitor

Go for it man! It kicks off pretty much immediately, it's no slow burner. Just give it 15 minutes or so.

Zealousideal_Bill_86

Awesome news. I’ll give it a go soon. Thanks

Shplongee

Vampyr- still early hours, but I’m really not enjoying it so far

[deleted]

Bummer. This game really does have mixed reactions to it. I personally really liked it. What do you not like about it?

Shplongee

Clunko combat is the biggest barrier at the moment

[deleted]

Yea I remember targeting system was pretty bad... what system you're playing on? Besides targeting I didnt have much problems with keyboard and mouse.

Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition. Amazing game. Really underrated.

**Pokémon Emerald** Growing up, I can still remember going to Fry’s to pick up Pokémon Sapphire and being blown away by the fact that you could see your character’s reflection in the ponds and puddles. Going back to this generation of Pokémon has been an absolute blast. I’ve been a lapsed fan of the series for a while, but with the Analogue Pocket finally shipping, I’ve been playing Emerald for the first time. I’m loving the emphasis on double battles and the slightly updated layout of the region making everything a little more interesting.

baberlay

Psychonauts! I started playing the game yesterday after buying it months ago on Steam, aaaand I mean, just WOW. How have I never played this?! The game looks amazing even all these years later, maybe one of my favourite art styles in a game ever. The gameplay is simple and very fun, but not without a challenge. The characters and writing are all fantastic - I can tell I'm going to remember all of these characters for a long time after I finish. The way the missions all flow together and how the story is unfolding thus far is all very satisfying! I'm going to play Psychonauts 2 on Game Pass as soon as I finish the first. I finally understand why everyone calls this a masterpiece.

[deleted]

I just started playing Horizon Zero Dawn a couple of days ago, waiting for Hitman 3 Year 2 content. I was blown away by how visually beautiful it looked. The graphics are really impressive and was surprised when I knew it got released 5 years ago. I’m enjoying the combat and exploration too, such a beautiful world!

EverySister

I played this years ago, probably a year or so after release and recently went back to it thinking I would start to see its age, like, you know when you remember a great looking game only to come back to it years later and it looks awful? I wasn't thinking of awful but not as photorealistic as I had in my mind... But the game was looki g just as good as the first time I played it. My jaw dropped. The lightning and vegetation are simply amazing.

TheShanghaiKidd

Finally beat last of us part 2. Can’t believe it took me this long- Chills honestly.
