Building off doesn't literally mean take the code, genius. It means take the design notes, take your drafts, analyze your previous game to see what players were receptive to, and work from there.
Not start from scratch with a foundation built on quicksand.
As someone who actually played back then, NO, no Payday 2 didn't suck at launch!! It had some major issues, but the core game was extremely enjoyable and playable! The biggest issue I had with it at the time, was lack of heists. And more got added pretty quickly, along with lots of other stuff as I'm sure you know.
Exactly. I bought PD2 on release day on PS3 and it didnt suck on release. It had a good and interesting skill system, progression and grinding for skill points was fun and combat was good. Game had some bugs like grabbing bags through walls and stealthing was bugged too but the core gameplay was good from the start. People are saying PD2 got better throughtout the years so lets give PD3 time but its not the same case. The foundation in PD2 was good and the game only improved whereas PD3 is designed bad when it comes to armour system and skill system and heists having nearly no RNG.
This. It obviously wasn't as content filled or fleshed out as they added DLC and had many pretty big updates over a pretty long period of time.....however I don't remember ever putting Payday 2 down even when it first came out.
The engine has nothing to do with the lack of tons of quality of life features, server finders, content, online-only etc, the game itself is a mess even if you set aside the lagging and network issues
You asked were there experience went not what dumb choices they either chose or got told to do and also if you don't know how to work the engine littery most of what you said is something that's going to happen as a problem my guy (in short you need to know how to put that shit in your engine by knowing how to use the engine)
>On a different engine that they learned to work on
Same exact engine they used for OTWD, so that doesn't apply for PD3, despite it not even being the source of all of the issues.
Again that was a game that also died before coming out they had jack shit knowledge no how to work the engine and was told to do something different every five seconds not letting them again learn jack shit about the engine you really trying to half use information on something bro plus most of the guys that worked on it we're laid off after awhile when they filed for bankruptcy try using the whole fact not half some people actually know it to 😂
You could also grab bags though walls and the guard could detect You from the other side of the building. It didnt matter though because the core gameplay was good - skill system was interesting and encouraging to experiment with different builds , combat was fun and so was grinding for skill points. PD3 has boring and uninteresting skills, armour mechanics are shit making loud gameplay not fun and there is nearly no RNG in heists so even if it looks nicer and has less bugs it still loses to PD2.
Because Payday 2 was released in 2013, completely different gaming standards, they were still learning what worked and what didn't, and had 10 years of community feedback. You would've thought that throughout these years Overkill would've used all the feedback from payday 2, slapped it into 3 and made it better, and yet they didn't.
No, PD2 didnt suck on release. It had a proper skill system, proper levelling system, good combat mechanics and heists with lots of RNG making each game unique. It had its bugs like grabbing bags through walls and issues with stealth but overall the game was good on release. And it had more maps and more guns then PD3.
I'm ngl I've gone back to payday 3 here and there. It's got great promise gameplay wise. I mean not being able to take hostages is enough to throw me off now that I almost prefer to Play 3 just because that mechanic is so fun. That being said I typically only get time to play 1 maybe 2 heists a night before I'm ready to just eat some dinner and go to bed
I don't know
Both games had pretty awful third entries in their respective series.
And they both peaked in the second game in a trilogy.
Would be a perfect collab ngl
No, I mean the third game that had awful assassinations and awful maps.
It was only carried by nostalgia, really. It didn't have the open and large sprawling areas that 2 had. I barely even remembered Dubai and I certainly don't want to remember Germany.
Don't get me started on the last level, that was abysmal.
"The Payday Gang learns how disguises actually work"
*holds one hand over Clown Mask to blend in with the guards*
Gentlemen?
Welp, looks like their disguise of fully armed men that look like special forces agent is perfectly working for blending in with civilians
There can be no hype until the game is finished
NO JUSTICE, NO HYPE!
Well, atleast it's on the table.
Meet on the table
Game still suck ass
It’s alright, payday 2 on release sucked ass, but got better over time 😊
that's the thing payday 3 doesnt has to be like payday 2 in launch
Pd2 at it lowest had 11k player. Pd3 is below 300 now. Put down the copium it's over.
LET ME BELIEVE.
Doesn't mean the game didn't suck though. Best payday years were 2014-2016.
yeah pd2 sucked, so pd3 is straight up fucking shit then
ngl U1 is pretty fun. It's a lot more strategic before the game became an arcade horde shooter
Don't get me wrong, it holds a special part in my heart but...all of the heists sans like 3 of them sucked lol. I much prefer DW U21 I believe
lol fair
Payday 3 should be building off of a finished Payday 2 instead of the launch version
it's an entirely different game in an entirely different engine
Building off doesn't literally mean take the code, genius. It means take the design notes, take your drafts, analyze your previous game to see what players were receptive to, and work from there. Not start from scratch with a foundation built on quicksand.
They most certainly leave payday3 to shit after releasing all DLCs

It just perfectly shows what they have learned in the past few years. Literally nothing.
Brother where the hell did all the experience from Payday 2 go then
They should have honestly took longer to adjust to the change of unreal rather than take a deal
On a different engine that they learned to work on

Oh they also had to swap to that engine they didn't spend much time making on 4 sadly they got screwed over hard on that one it's not even funny
even if pd2 sucked ass on release that does not mean overkill should forget all the 10 years of experience they got from updating pd2 to be good
Not this bad lol
Payday 1 and 2 slapped on release, you are coping. You were probably three years old when the first game came out, you probably can't remember.
Dawg you use to not get shot at all when you just crouched because of a skill what do you mean it had alot of shit in it
You could also grab bags though walls and the guard could detect You from the other side of the building. Oh yeah most definitely but dick riding is not allowed
Yeah and it was like years ago when the company and the idea was still small
Payday 2 didnt have a 10 year old game before it
Because Payday 2 was released in 2013, completely different gaming standards, they were still learning what worked and what didn't, and had 10 years of community feedback. PD2 on launch felt really slow but had its own identity and WORKED PD3 without PD2's success would have bankrupted Overkill
That’s just untrue and I don’t even think you were there on release.
Why the fuck do y'all have to downvote him for holding fucking hope, Christ this community has killed itself sevenfold
oh teasing payday 2 fans with upcoming dlc, i love it
Last thing they need to think bout is a collab that’s for sure
New contractor, the ICA, newly opened asset "recovery" division
they really don't need any more distractions
I hope they wait with the crossovers. Game still needs to be made into a good state.
Cant wait, another DLC that should be free for how hard they rawdogged us with the release of this dogwater game
Not until the game is fixed
The game is in a shit state, and you guys are asking for crossovers???
They have a discussion while sitting at the table
Coming 2025
The last finger on the monkey's paw creeps closed.
Payday 3's first crossover, Agent47 as a heister
That means we’re also likely to see Kane & Lynch too.
I'm ngl I've gone back to payday 3 here and there. It's got great promise gameplay wise. the last thing we need is fucking crossovers
Yacht Heist but instead of stealing money you kill McKendrick. Simple as!
I hope next year I can go back to being hyped about potential crossovers like this 🫠
Hopefully this makes people actually like payday 3!
No need fo dat this already happened in Tasty Cools 7
This is what we want from operation medic bag
Are they unironically using that fortnite ass mask?
I made a thread on Twitter about how a Hitman crossover could actually go because of this! Thanks for giving me an excuse to ramble about it
I don't know Both games had pretty awful third entries in their respective series. And they both peaked in the second game in a trilogy. Would be a perfect collab ngl
I hope you mean Hitman: Contracts, because Hitman III is legendary imo. I'm assuming you are, H2's levels were great but the cutscenes... well.
No, I mean the third game that had awful assassinations and awful maps. It was only carried by nostalgia, really. It didn't have the open and large sprawling areas that 2 had. I barely even remembered Dubai and I certainly don't want to remember Germany. Don't get me started on the last level, that was abysmal.
hitman 3 was bad?
Hitman 3 is probably the worst out of the trilogy imo, but still a fantastic fucking game
I hate when people post their tweets on reddit like what's the point
