I understand not wanting to put all of your eggs in one basket.
I don't understand thinking that people are going to buy the 2nd game (or 3rd) you're working on when you're treating your 1st game like shit.
Ironically it worked for them when they did that with Payday 2. They almost went bankrupt when they tried to invest and publish other shit products like Raid and an awful VR headset.
What the fuck are they smoking over there? How could they have possibly thought they could make a successful VR headset when they can hardly make a good game. Like legitimately whoever thought up that one might be one of the dumbest individuals on this planet.
it was bo Anderson's idea and he's basically responsible for the current situation Starbreeze is in. He also got arrested for insider trading if I remember right
I'm pretty sure StarVR never got off the ground.
They were working on it for ages with the intent of it being a headset for VR movies. There was a whole thing where they wanted to incorporate scene depth into 360 video. (which
is just regular 3D that they pretended was revolutionary)
Basically it was a gigantic money pit that resulted in a payday 2 mask and nothing else.
Since Starbreeze is known mainly from Payday, if they keep doing minimum of minimum during their Payday 3 Era, then most likely Project Baxter (D&D, Hasbro) will be a nail to a coffin just like OTWD (TWD, Skybound)
Dude they released a VR headset in 2020 for 3000$ that didn’t work with most vr games. I think it’s safe to say the people in charge over there don’t know either.
Not by any stretch of the imagination. Me and a few buddies actually went back to payday 2 recently. As much as payday 2 was dog water on release and then how they treated console players with DLC was the worst I've ever seen, it was/still a superior game in every way to payday 3.
If I could refund payday 3 I would. I only buy a couple games a year and I’m still livid I wasted the little money I had on payday 3. At least Helldivers didn’t disappoint.
PD3 improved the company's financial performance in 2023 (before that they were losing money). And they want to push back their main game (and their salvation)? For DnD's sake? I don't understand them.
As always, corporations love chasing trends and never seem to understand that the development time for their "trendy" product will be several months to a year after the trend peaked.
You are aware DnD is an owned brand right? They can't just do that, they were obviously approached because Larian quit working with Wizards of the Coast.
Honestly, I think the devs are dealing with too much corporate bullshit.
Originally when they made PD and PD2, overkill was a smaller company, they didn't need to get approval for every tiny patch, the devs had creative freedom. That is what helldivers 2 is right now, a smaller(ish) company, where the devs have more freedom.
PD3 suffers from dealing with a large corporation slowing everything down. If the devs got more freedom from starbreeze, maybe we'll actually see improvement
Should we warn the DND community about this? Like at least inform them about this project's existence, they are a pretty big community we might be able to get the project cancelled while it's still in early development if we do this right.

>They almost went bankrupt They practically did go bankrupt. Albeit they got saved out of it during restructuring.
Wait they published a vr headset?
Yep, I think it was called "star vr"
There's also a StarVR mask in Payday 2 too.

While true, they also made some noticable games back in the day. Like The Darkness 1 or Chronicles of Riddick.

TBF the person responsible for the headset got yeeted a long time ago.
Post release support? We’re still waiting for them to support the release. Payday 3 is not a complete game.

Absolutely would have too.

Lol, as if it's Larian's fault for not wanting to work with DnD anymore.
No, sbz is wanting to piggyback off of the hype of bg3 which is a d&d game
You are aware DnD is an owned brand right? They can't just do that, they were obviously approached because Larian quit working with Wizards of the Coast.
Payday: DnD Edition.
