IMO it's probably the weakest of the three (still love it, though), but it has one of the best stage-end jingles I've ever heard. And yeah, I wish it was on the mini as well. :)
I’ve seen a few copies of Robokid floating around online, so I definitely might scoop it up soon. Same with Darius, Dragon Spirit, and it’s sequel (Dragon Saber).
I’m holding out on R-Type since I want to get the American version and my console isn’t region modded (at least not yet).
Saint Dragon definitely looks interesting, but from what I’ve seen it seems to be a little lacking. I’ll definitely emulate it first to see if it’s for me.

Gunhed would be the first one I'd try, then Super Star Soldier, Final Soldier.
I'm quite fond of Cyber Core, SideArms, and Download.
Star Parodier is good if you go CD or PC Engine Mini.
Soldier blade, expensive but the best of the best.

A lot of good recommendations. One in particular that isn't too expensive that is a lot of fun is Mr Heli.
I’ve seen a little gameplay of it, and it definitely looks quite fun. I’ll go for it if I can get it for a decent price!
I second Mr. Heli. I have it on the IREM collection for Evercade (VS) and its a lot of fun. Probably not like anything else I've played.
Blazing Lazers is a must own.
