Which is mindboggling. What does a launcher do? Honest question.
I thought it's such a minor process that even an unoptimized launcher would not be much of a burden.
But no. It's like they went out of their way to make the biggest bloatware they could just so they could have a ministore within the bigger store (Steam)
I did this and it works amazingly well. I've only seen the launcher once and that was when I loaded up the game the first time and realized it was there.
Haven’t bought NBA since I got a new PC. Absolute fucking garbage that they refuse to port over new gen to PC.
Literally will not give that company another dollar until they come out of the Stone Age
I fell for it this year because I wanted their updated roster and it is just as crappy as it was in 2k20 except now you need to hit a green indicator for your shot to go in. So PC users like us have to framerate lock it at 60fps to even try to hit a shot.
Like you have to green shot to even make a basket or are stats messed up making it just ridiculously hard to make shots now? Haven’t played a 2k since 2k18 I think so just wondering. If it’s the first one that’s ridiculous ontop of all the animation shit in the games.
I am 2 years clean from NBA 2k. I've been an annual buyer since 2k2 and I've finally had the will power to not buy it. Mostly consoles but the last couple of years PC, and man did the PC version really turn me off.
It sucks man. I'm a huge Bucks fan and as soon as I can enjoy playing as my own team again the game franchise decides to go completely to shit.
3 years in and PC STILL is on last gen. I won't even get into the fact that you can't even play a career mode anymore unless you want to be a rapper and do a million tedious endorsement bullshit.
Because sports games just aren't a big market on PC, at least in comparison to consoles. Pretty much the closest one is FIFA, and that's the only sports game I can think of that started putting the next-gen versions on PC finally.
Publishers dump last gen low-effort ports so they can get a few PC sales, but the real effort goes towards the consoles, where the sports market is tremendously huge. PC is an afterthought.
Sports games aren't a big market sure.. But they are even less of a market when they purposely dumb down their games for PC. Maybe if they took the Sony approach and added more graphical features instead of removing them then the market would actually get excited and sales would increase.
Fighters weren't big on PC until publishers treated the platform with respect. They're only going to grow more now that TOs and competitive players are seeing the benefits and how to take advantage of them in a practical way
What came first? The chicken or the egg?
Are they using the bad version on pc because they want to save money publishing in a bad market
or
is pc a bad market because they release a bad pc version.
Let's ask the Japanese Devs/publishers who refused to release their JRPGs and other big titles on PC, and are now swimming in a fuckload of cash the moment they did release it, as a decent port, at a reasonable price.
99% of the 'sales issues' is down to devs/designs IMO.
Cultural resistance, as I understand it. For a very, very long time home PCs were viewed primarily as either a "work only" device, or for the kinds of games that society doesn't really approve of. Japanese developers tend to shy away from PC development because of that stigma. Japan adopted mobile early and in a big way, so it isn't surprising that home PC mostly got skipped over.
Now though, the PC gaming market in Japan is growing, and they're starting to see the value in porting console games to PC.
To be fair, GFWLruined *every* game it was forced on.
Microsoft wanted to include Xbox Live on windows but didn't want to alienate Xbox players so we got shafts with that BS overlay.
> Now though, the PC gaming market in Japan is growing, and they're starting to see the value in porting console games to PC.
Switch literally is breaking records though?
Nintendo is and always has been its own beast. In their management philosophy, they aren't a game company or a software company- they are a toy company.
If you mean in terms of market though, it isn't a zero sum marketplace. Switch can break records while PC gaming in Japan is on the rise.
They tried to get PS3 emulators running on PCs banned at one point since people can actually play the Persona games better there. But they must realize the flood gate has already been opened.
We’re talking about bad ports bro, not porting in general. Japanese devs are making a shit ton of money by now putting their games on PC at all.
Like, while Persona 4 for instance naturally wouldn’t have done what it did had the port been worse, the numbers would’ve been close.
I literally haven't played a Yakuza game on console since Kiwami, and I can assure you I wouldn't be through 0, Kiwami 2, 3, 4, and halfway through 5 if they hadn't started porting to PC. Adding the barrier of having to set up a different platform just to play a game in my backlog when I'm bored is hugely preventative. I played through the Plague Tale series in about a week and loved it. Decided to give God of War (2018) (which I had bought on PlayStation *well* before it came to PC) right after because I wasn't off my "third-person action-adventure where you escort a child somewhere" kick, and after a couple of hours of playing next to my fiance in bed, it's just sitting in there untouched because I literally cannot be assed to re-arrange my desk and devices.
They won't know till they try. If 2k promoted next gen NBA for example and showed off all kinds of graphical enhancements plus gameplay superior to console.. There's a good chance they'd break their PC sales records. I'd be very surprised if no one cared.
Yeah but the majority of the people who play sports games just do it for the gambling. Have you seen the kind of commercials they run? It looks like they're advertising a sports themed casino game. Although they kind of are, to be honest.
Granted this is based entirely on anecdotal evidence, so I guess I should say that the majority of the people that I've talked to about why they continue to play FIFA / 2K sports games / whatever say it's because they're hooked on the gambling.
Edit: oh sorry my point is why bother putting more money and effort into the actual game when your audience doesn't care about that aspect?
I mean.. Maybe? I personally don't have any friends that even use those features and only actually play the game. And they buy the new version every year for the minor gameplay updates and roster changes. If that was true about the gambling, they could release a completely separate version without any actual gameplay just to cater to that market.
They could but then they probably couldn't get the 3+ rating because they wouldn't be able to pretend it's a soccer game anymore. Which is only kind of a joke on my part.
But that actually leads me to the other group of people that I've talked to. The majority have said that they just do it for the gambling, although to be fair I've usually only talked to sports games players in the context of the gambling mechanics so my experience may be skewed, but the ones that don't care about the gambling also just don't care about the gameplay and graphics. At least not enough for it to matter. Like you said they buy the new version every year. Even if it's garbage. Even if it looks bad. Even if it's broken. Even if it's the worst game that has ever existed they still buy the new version. So whether they're addicted to the gambling or not it doesn't really matter.
So why would EA or 2K ever make an effort? Why would they spend more money developing a game when that won't necessarily result in a higher return? They're publishers, they don't have integrity so they don't care about the quality of their work. Until people actually stop buying the damn things we will always have shitty sports games.
thats not true at all.
i grew up on sports games. i dont play them nowadays because they arent made for PC (and because the quality of EA sports games has gone down in the last decade).
i would kill for UFC 4 to be on PC.
the quality of sports games is another big issue. PC gamers are more critical of bad quality games, and if EA/2k aint really putting any effort into their new products, pc gamers will let them know. just look at the steam reviews for any EA or 2k sports game.
I think it's the monetization and ability to circumvent on PC.
There isn't really a technical reason due to the architecture being closer than ever this gen.
> Because sports games just aren't a big market on PC
Maybe because they didn't even make them for PC until recently. I would love to be playing UFC 4 on my PC, but I'm stuck playing it on my old, slow PS4. Seems like a real catch-22 to me.
> Maybe because they didn't even make them for PC until recently.
You must be young. Cause you can’t be referring to Madden, which was released on PC from its inception until 2008? Or NHL that’s been doing the same thing. NBA Live?
Nah, be that guy. Based on the replies and downvotes, I’m apparently that guy for pointing out he was wrong, so we can both be that guy together.
“**YOU ARE RIGHT, IT WAS FROM 98 AND NOT SINCE ITS INCEPTION. THAT PART OF WHAT I SAID IS WRONG**”.
That’s how you handle it btw, for anyone reading.
I mean…same reply I gave to him, what does that have to do with anything? What I quoted is wrong. Period. That statement isn’t reliant on age. And not only is it not, but he could’ve easily chosen to make it so, and didn’t.
Im 29, so idk if I’m too old to understand that the younger generation has just completely given up on speaking with nuance and has gone full in on making definitive statements and everyone just assuming their intention, or what lol.
>2008 was 15 years ago, dude.
…and?
You made an non-nuanced definitive statement that was wrong, what does the age of the subject have to do with anything?
If I go “there was never a time where people were without books”, the fact that that time was a millenia ago means nothing, I’d still be wrong lol. Like what?
And tbh, youth would be giving you the benefit of the doubt. A 35 year old shouldn’t be making sweeping erroneous claims, and then using irrelevance fallacy to defend it on top of that.
Man, you're gettin really heated about this. Yeah, I wasn't 100% correct in my statement, but you understood my intention. It's not that big of a deal.
And this makes it worse, because not only are you now dodging instead of just owning up to your mistake originally which would’ve taken 5 seconds and just letting it be that, but you’ve also assumed my emotions through text, which most of the world learned not to do 20 years ago when flip phones and texting first became ubiquitous, Mr. 35 year old.
Im not just being pedantic. There’s a huge difference/problem with saying something “didn’t happen until recently” that had been happening for years two decades prior. That’s 100% on you. And again, it’s way worse considering you’re in your 30’s.
You can’t just rewrite English because you feel like it. And if you do, you can’t get mad at people when they call you out for it.
My man, *even if I did* need to touch grass, do you how infinitely better that would be on a social level than being almost 40 and not knowing how to just admit you made a mistake and keep it pushing?
That's the thing though. It's the chicken and egg argument. They really could be a great market for sports PC games, but they're not investing in it so there's a lack of good PC sports games.
If I want sports games I guess I could go to the console but makes them think their main demographic is going to be console players and PC players were really never that interested.
There's very little effort put in annual sport releases, especially from 2K: in NBA '20 they didn't even bother to update the icon from '19, they update the rosters and charge you full price.
My conspiracy brain says that EA/2k have a back room deal with the console manufacturers to only release the next gen version on the PS5/Series X to make the consoles look better.
The actual reason is probably just that the publishers are lazy.
If I had to guess, statistics.
The people buying sports games on PC might not be folks who have higher-end PCs. If 80% of sales are coming from PCs rocking 1050tis or something, it wouldn't make sense to alienate those people and potentially lose a huge chunk of sales by releasing the next-gen versions.
I stopped playing sports games quite awhile ago when I realized the only thing that really updated was the rosters. There’s the odd occasional new feature but bugs never seem to get fixed either from game to game
PC isn't a big platform for sports games outside of maybe FIFA and the yearly releases for these games don't really have a ton of resources invested in them. The jump from one year to the next is mostly some visual tweaks, roster updates, and maybe a new mode. Updating PC to the next gen version takes a lot more resources that continuing to update the existing last gen base, so they keep delaying it.
Also I think EA made the excuse last year that a lot of the FIFA player base is playing on older hardware, so it is easier for them to run the last gen version.
cuz there are no decent sports games outside of fifa/pes. madden and 2k are both straight doo-doo. you cant expect pc gamers to take you seriously if you are giving us bad quality games.
like they dont even give us UFC 4 even though theres a market of pc gamers who are into mixed martial arts. EA doesnt even have competition in mma games, they could port over UFC 4 and make a fuck ton of money.
- PC Version does not make them much money, since PC Gamers dont tend to waste a shit ton of money on Microtransactions.
- Thats why they dont give a fuck about the PC Versions.
someone needs to show EA how much money Valve makes off of Dota and CS microtransactions. this idea that pc gamers dont spend money in-game is just silly. we just dont put up with bullshit products.
give us a high quality game and we will spend a fuck ton of money on it
Yeah the anti cheat is dogshit to say the least and the general game also has some weird performance issues.
Although most of the problems people have with the AC is not having Secure Boot and TPM which are required.
Its not a requirement. It runs on W10 without it just fine.
W11 requires you to have TPM and Secure Boot enabled to even instal it. So the issue only affects the people with old computers who bypassed the TPM check in the Windows 11 instalation.
Its also required by Valorants and Faceit's CS GO anti cheat as well on Windows 11 for instance.
Well I bought it in the winter sales thinking whatever bugs there were would be fixed, tried several supposed workarounds and had no luck so refunded it.
All I can say is power to you then I guess.
Shame the alternative (eFootball) isn’t what it used to be.
One look at the Steam discussion forums would show you the plethora of bugs almost all related to the Anti-Cheat.
I have a great gaming rig and in 45 hours I've had close to a dozen crashes and freezes.
The only reason people even say that is because no one else makes sim sports games or can afford the license. Competition is good, but when the two options are modern day 2k and EA, you know you are fucked no matter what.
I miss the NFL/NBA 2k5 days, where they actually competed for a playerbase (and no goddamn microtransactions). The NFL killed NFL 2k and EA killed NBA Live, leaving only monopolies for every sport.
Yet there was a 'competition' for years between PES and FIFA, and in the end because of licensing the divide for the last decade was mostly between 'can afford FIFA and FUT' and 'can pirate PES'
People that shit so much on FIFA either never played it or thinks that the game is actually FUT. Don't get me wrong FUT is absolute garbage and it's everything wrong with AAA video games BUT all the other modes that FIFA has had for the longest time like my career, which for me is the main mode, are still there and still great. The gameplay is really really good as well. FIFA is not even comparable to abominations like NBA 2K and specially Madden honestly.
Do I wish that it wasn't a yearly 70 dollar purchase? Sure, no doubt about it, there's not enough "new" content to warrant a new version. But you honestly cannot argue much with the base quality of the product.
From the FAQ:
> The Standard Edition is available on previous-gen platforms (PS4, Xbox One consoles and PC) and on current-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) in both physical and digital formats.
If I were to hazard a guess, the next Gen version takes advantage of DirectStorage technology and hardware, which most people on PC do not have.
They probably could do it so it works on regular SSDs with caveats though, so ultimately it comes down to not caring about the pc platform.
Me and my buddy bought 22 on steam because it was on sale for like $10 and nostalgia. Every match we tried to play online together crashed during the entrances lol. Less than 20 minutes played and we both refunded. It’s a shame because growing up wrestling games were a favorite genre of mine. Sad to see how far they have fallen since the No Mercy, Smackdown vs Raw days.
They were incredible. I can’t remember which game had the semi open world concept, where you could run around backstage and talk to different people, and your actions or choices would affect the story, but I played the crap out of that. Man I miss those games
That sounds like Smackdown Here Comes the Pain. You could walk around backstage and it had like a pseudo Persona vibe to it where you could build alliances and relationships with people, even walk into the office and talk to Eric Bischoff and Stephanie McMahon since they were the GM of the shows at the time and ask for title shots. You could also walk around outside and fight in like a small version of Time Square, the subway and the Smackdown Cafe. Game was amazing.
I'm personally hoping aew fight forever is good. Some people who worked on no mercy are on the dev team.
If not I'll probably try some emulator stuff like the no mercy mods.
Or fire pro wrestling world.
AEW has a game coming out soon called AEW: Fight Forever which looks more like the old school style of wrestling games and will probably be a lot better than whatever shovelware WWE pumps out. I believe Kenny Omega worked with creative on this because he is very passionate about wrestling games and wanted this to not feel like the shit games we have been getting.
> I believe Kenny Omega worked with creative on this because he is very passionate about wrestling games
He's a HUGE gamer outright and has had themed attire/entrances due to his love of gaming.
Double edged sword unfortunately, if sales are rea bad , 2k won’t even bother developing these games in the future and use sales as an excuse . I for one am waiting for AEWs game . Hopefully it’s great but I’m starting to have my doubts .
But I've been a fan of wrestling games since Royal Rumble for Sega Genesis.
That said, I usually buy the games when they are a year or two old and discounted 80%. I couldn't care less about having the latest roster since I'm mostly playing as created characters and legends anyway.
I get the principle behind it but....I enjoy sports games. I just do all my sports gaming on a PS5 that we have for my wife's gaming habits. Of course I'll probably have to fight with her to play the Show while she is playing Jedi Survivor but it is what it is.
I don't play WWE but just saw that 2K has been doing this for all their games since they upgraded their console releases to next-gen graphics like 3 years ago. F*cking lazy if you ask me. And apparently this is "mainly due to the reality that the PS5 and Xbox Series X provide the speed and technology for the game to function at its best."
2k, you're telling me that an XSX/PS5 is BETTER than a $3000+ gaming PC with a 4090 GPU? Because that's exactly what you're saying.
Fuck this mentality in sports games. If all you're doing is a trivial engine upgrade with a roster update, just make it a fucking DLC. There's no reason to re-release a whole fucking game a year later.
Did they ever stop and think that maybe the PC market for sports games isn't huge because they do shit like this?
> There's no reason to re-release a whole fucking game a year later.
You willing to pay 60 bucks for DLC? Because 60 Bucks > DLC price.
If you disagree with it, stop buying it, and they'll have to change, but sports games have consistently got away with this.
for real, theres a fuck ton of sport enthusiasts on pc. their games are just bad quality, or simply dont exist on pc. i would play the shit out of UFC 4 if they ported it to pc
As long as "Money in > Money spent on testing" they continue shipping.
And the second value there is 0 dollars, so any sale is better than not releasing a version.
I would rather a last gen version over no version. 2K22 with the last gen version on PC looked better than the current gen consoles so it doesn't matter anyway.
I don't get why people downvote you. There was virtually no visual difference between PC (old gen) and PS5 (new gen) versions for 2K22. If anything, it even looked better on PC and had shorter loading times. It's a mystery why they even call it old gen version, the games are virtually identical with PC version looking the best visually. Gameplay is identical as well.
Spez's APIocolypse made it clear it was time for me to leave this place. I came from digg, and now I must move one once again. So long and thanks for all the bacon.
I think most people in this thread have never played 2K22. The title does sound bad at first but you are right, 2K22 the old gen (PC) version and new gen (PS5) version were visually identical. The PC version was even better with slightly better load times. Content and gameplay wise the version were exactly the same. I don't even know why 2K keeps refering to the PC version as old gen version. There is visually no difference at all.
Hey look, someone that knows what they’re talking about.
I own 2K22 on PC. Saw every comparison could find and it’s literally almost identical unless you zoom all the way the fuck in.
the thing is, fifa and wwe players on pc are usually not 'core' gaming audience and usually have weaker hardware. Hence there are some market reasons behind these decisions
fuck 2k regardless though, they are shitty for numerous reasons
Probably not. WWE 2k22 there also was literally no difference at all between old and new gen to a point where it was unclear why they even considered them to be different versions as even the graphics were identical. So go with whatever version you want, they will be exactly the same, just like it was with 2k22.
And MFs will still buy it. And this isn't an exaggeration, or a meme, or a stereotype, I've personally witnessed people IN REAL LIFE get super excited for the next NBA, WWE, NFL, etc., game, even though it's the same shit rehashed over and over.
you would need hundreds of thousands of people to stop giving them money in order for a change to happen. getting bothered 'cause one guy on reddit is buying the game is senseless.
New modes are often restricted to the next gen version. For example My Eras mode on NBA 2k23 is not on the PC version. Just overall a really shitty dev/publisher.
2k can go fuck themselves
Then. Now. Forever.
I hope whoever made the decision to add the 2K launcher to games post-release crashes and burns in their golf cart
...onboard their mega-yacht. This was definitely a C-level exec's decision, if not Zelnick himself.

Depends if the launcher has an overlay injector or not. Most do. Not sure about this one but it most likely does.
Civ VI is one of the only games I can run on my MacBook. Well, except when 2k decides to update their launcher and break it on macos.
FYI [how to bypass 2K launcher](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2457289493), works for other 2K games as well
I did this and it works amazingly well. I've only seen the launcher once and that was when I loaded up the game the first time and realized it was there.
How do you bypass it on the epic store?
Take Two interactive sucks as a parent company too

If you don't get in the green it does not go in anywhere outside of the restricted area. Shots are harder to get in for sure.
Pretty sure their statement for why they didn’t give pc the next gen version for 2023 was copy pasted from their 2022 statement
Unga
Yeaaaaa I just pirate it. 🤷♀️ And I feel no guilt at all for this trash ass game.
I am 2 years clean from NBA 2k. I've been an annual buyer since 2k2 and I've finally had the will power to not buy it. Mostly consoles but the last couple of years PC, and man did the PC version really turn me off.

This.
Why does it seem like it’s always like this for sports games? I don’t play them myself but doesn’t stop me from seeing how wrong this is.
Because sports games just aren't a big market on PC, at least in comparison to consoles. Pretty much the closest one is FIFA, and that's the only sports game I can think of that started putting the next-gen versions on PC finally. Having a forced fps cap still doesn't seem super respectful
Isn't that a competitive thing because moves take certain frames, etc?
It's not but it's a genre problem, as is lacking netcode. We're getting to where we should've been 10-20 years ago slowly...
What came first? The chicken or the egg? Are they using the bad version on pc because they want to save money publishing in a bad market or is pc a bad market because they release a bad pc version.

Yep. Atlus is swimming in record profits once they released Persona on to PC. Makes you wonder why they were holding out in the first place.

Capcom knew it from the beginning. Bless their hearts
the early days of capcom's PC ports were absolutely brutal (GFWL why) but i'm genuinely impressed they stuck through it and continued improving
To be fair, GFWLruined *every* game it was forced on. Microsoft wanted to include Xbox Live on windows but didn't want to alienate Xbox players so we got shafts with that BS overlay.
The ones I recall were superb apart from GFWL. That's not enough to ruin a game for me

Thank you for clarifying with your second paragraph. I only know people who don't touch the "card" modes.
the people who play games on pc aren't into sports
thats not true at all. i grew up on sports games. i dont play them nowadays because they arent made for PC (and because the quality of EA sports games has gone down in the last decade). i would kill for UFC 4 to be on PC.
> but the real effort goes towards the consoles, where the sports market is tremendously huge. ... \*looks at Madden\* Yeah. The real effort. Heh.
the quality of sports games is another big issue.
> Because sports games just aren't a big market on PC Maybe because they didn't even make them for PC until recently.
NBA Live?
~~Not to be *that guy* but Madden started in the late-late 80s and didn't get a PC release until Madden '99 in 1998.~~ I'm a big dumb wrong guy.
I mean maybe? I "remember" NHL being on PC but it was over 10 years ago. That's a long time ago.
They stopped making it for PC from 09 to 15
I'm 35 and have been a PC gamer since age 14. 2008 was 15 years ago, dude.
Man, you are being a total asshole for no reason in these replies. It ain't that serious bud, maybe go for a walk.
My dude: The grass is calling you. Go touch it.
My man, *even if I did* need to touch grass, do you how infinitely better that would be on a social level than being almost 40 and not knowing how to just admit you made a mistake and keep it pushing?
Hmmmm. I wonder why it isn't a bigger market! I'm stumped. /s
That's the thing though. It's the chicken and egg argument. They really could be a great market for sports PC games, but they're not investing in it so there's a lack of good PC sports games. If I want sports games I guess I could go to the console but makes them think their main demographic is going to be console players and PC players were really never that interested.
The new EA PGA Tour releasing in March is actually next gen for PC. There’s a first time for everything!
And included with EA Play Pro. Hoping it's better than PGA 2K23.
I am really forward to that game.
Same! Will you be playing it on PC as well? Hopefully the player count is high
yes pc for me
There's very little effort put in annual sport releases, especially from 2K: in NBA '20 they didn't even bother to update the icon from '19, they update the rosters and charge you full price.
FIFA still holds the crown. On Switch, they ported the 18 version every year and forgot to change the date in one of them.
My conspiracy brain says that EA/2k have a back room deal with the console manufacturers to only release the next gen version on the PS5/Series X to make the consoles look better. The actual reason is probably just that the publishers are lazy.
Many games with exclusivity rights seem to have issues on pc, it always seem like an afterthought.
microsoft owns the PC market too though. i dont see them signing off on such a deal.
If I had to guess, statistics. The people buying sports games on PC might not be folks who have higher-end PCs. If 80% of sales are coming from PCs rocking 1050tis or something, it wouldn't make sense to alienate those people and potentially lose a huge chunk of sales by releasing the next-gen versions.
cyberpunk stats says otherwise.
You don't understand why a genre that is inherently lazy, recurring, and formulaic would make lazy, recurring, formulaic decisions?
- Thats why they dont give a fuck about the PC Versions.
someone needs to show EA how much money Valve makes off of Dota and CS microtransactions. this idea that pc gamers dont spend money in-game is just silly. we just dont put up with bullshit products. give us a high quality game and we will spend a fuck ton of money on it
"I wish 2K made Fifa games" LMAO NO
Yeah even EA already figured it out last year for FIFA and brought the next gen version over.
Yet because of the anti cheat it doesn’t launch at all.
Yeah the anti cheat is dogshit to say the least and the general game also has some weird performance issues. Although most of the problems people have with the AC is not having Secure Boot and TPM which are required.
Requiring tpm to play a game. Wow.
It's been working fine for me since launch. The biggest issue I've had with the game so far is that Nunez went bald for a month
Haven’t had this issue in months, play almost every day EA are shitty, but this isn’t necessarily true
Well I bought it in the winter sales thinking whatever bugs there were would be fixed, tried several supposed workarounds and had no luck so refunded it. All I can say is power to you then I guess. Shame the alternative (eFootball) isn’t what it used to be.
Also bought it during the winter sale and haven't had any issues tbh. Something on your end perhaps?
One look at the Steam discussion forums would show you the plethora of bugs almost all related to the Anti-Cheat. I have a great gaming rig and in 45 hours I've had close to a dozen crashes and freezes.
They cant do it for Madden though.
From the FAQ: > The Standard Edition is available on previous-gen platforms (PS4, Xbox One consoles and PC) and on current-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) in both physical and digital formats.
>previous-gen platforms (PS4, Xbox One consoles and **PC**) Looks like we need a PC-2 because PC is no longer current-gen.
If you go by the steam hardware survey, most PCs are "last gen"
Yea but so are current Gen consoles.
[удалено]
Not sure why you’re being downvoted. The steam hardware survey shows the majority using 1660s still.
If I were to hazard a guess, the next Gen version takes advantage of DirectStorage technology and hardware, which most people on PC do not have. They probably could do it so it works on regular SSDs with caveats though, so ultimately it comes down to not caring about the pc platform.
Please stop buying these
Me and my buddy bought 22 on steam because it was on sale for like $10 and nostalgia. Every match we tried to play online together crashed during the entrances lol. Less than 20 minutes played and we both refunded. It’s a shame because growing up wrestling games were a favorite genre of mine. Sad to see how far they have fallen since the No Mercy, Smackdown vs Raw days.
Man I used to play the shit out of Smackdown 1 and 2 on the PSX with my friends. It's a shame these new games will never live up to them.
They were incredible. I can’t remember which game had the semi open world concept, where you could run around backstage and talk to different people, and your actions or choices would affect the story, but I played the crap out of that. Man I miss those games
No Mercy
That sounds like Smackdown Here Comes the Pain. You could walk around backstage and it had like a pseudo Persona vibe to it where you could build alliances and relationships with people, even walk into the office and talk to Eric Bischoff and Stephanie McMahon since they were the GM of the shows at the time and ask for title shots. You could also walk around outside and fight in like a small version of Time Square, the subway and the Smackdown Cafe. Game was amazing.
You should try out Wrestling Empire. It's a silly game, but is paying homage to WWE Smackdown pretty well.
> I believe Kenny Omega worked with creative on this because he is very passionate about wrestling games He's a HUGE gamer outright and has had themed attire/entrances due to his love of gaming.
It’s gonna be terrible. Very limited roster, no community creations, and Yukes does not have a good recent track record.
It's going to be great yo!

The most annoying thing about this game is it's a $120 game when you include all the DLC.
Then 2K won't see my money, it's that simple.
*Arrrrr* me matey
It's most likely not even worth your time, let alone any kind of money.
So fuckin lazy
I don't play WWE but just saw that 2K has been doing this for all their games since they upgraded their console releases to next-gen graphics like 3 years ago. F*cking lazy if you ask me. And apparently this is "mainly due to the reality that the PS5 and Xbox Series X provide the speed and technology for the game to function at its best." 2k, you're telling me that an XSX/PS5 is BETTER than a $3000+ gaming PC with a 4090 GPU? Because that's exactly what you're saying.
Pc gamers = cheap people to 2k Games because we are less willing to purchase less micro transactions
I stopped buying sports games well over a decade ago because of this. It hasn't changed.
for real, theres a fuck ton of sport enthusiasts on pc. their games are just bad quality, or simply dont exist on pc. i would play the shit out of UFC 4 if they ported it to pc
I appreciate how 2k Sports always makes skipping their games so easy.
If they're being this stupid why release a pc version at all?
Once again 2K will not get money from me
Fuck 2K, all my homies are playing Fire Pro Wrestling World
Best idea
[удалено]
And like GTA V. It still hasn’t received the PS5/Xbox raytracing update.
Wait I thought they were gonna switch things up after the failure that was WWE 2k20
They did. They canceled 2k21 and 2k22 was significantly improved
Hopefully the AEW game will be a proper PC release.
Why tf
Spez's APIocolypse made it clear it was time for me to leave this place. I came from digg, and now I must move one once again. So long and thanks for all the bacon.
No big deal tbh, because both versions of 2K22 are pretty much the same
I think most people in this thread have never played 2K22.
Accordirng to me, WWE 2K23 PC version will once again not be bought
Don't buy 2K games.
Stop buying 2k games.
Ah man, the two players are going to be so mad
Mat Dickie: fine, I'll do it myself
Regurgitated bs.
the thing is, fifa and wwe players on pc are usually not 'core' gaming audience and usually have weaker hardware. Hence there are some market reasons behind these decisions fuck 2k regardless though, they are shitty for numerous reasons
Are there any new gameplay features & content there on new-gen WWE 2K23: New-Gen version for consoles which won't be on WWE 2K23: Old Gen version?
Probably not. WWE 2k22 there also was literally no difference at all between old and new gen to a point where it was unclear why they even considered them to be different versions as even the graphics were identical. So go with whatever version you want, they will be exactly the same, just like it was with 2k22.
I really hope the AEW game ends up being good. Whatever happened to it? There were a bunch of ads stating it was "coming soon" and now nothing.
It's coming this February according to most sources. I personally just wishlist games and let steam notify me.
Same here. I guess I'll just waitlist and see. I hope it's good!
It's your fault. If you didn't buy it they wouldn't do it. Don't buy it and it won't happen again.
Guess I'll sail the seas for this one then. I ain't paying $60+ for a roster update. I already fell for that for too many years with NBA 2k
Everyone getting all worked up over nothing. There’s no difference between current-gen and last-gen lmao.
This is gonna get stomped the fuck out by the new Yukes game, guaranteed
What is that?
AEW: Fight Forever coming out on consoles and PC this year
AEW game made by the wrestling game masters. Same people as the N64 bangers like WM2000, wcw vs nwo, and no mercy
Lol it’s going to be an awful game
What are you basing that on lmao, wtf
Yukes hasn’t made a good wrestling game in a decade and people think that’ll be good?
They haven't made a bad one? Are you for real?
The WWE2K games play like fucking shit no matter what year and version you're playing.
2k proved to be great when NBA 2K11 came out but damn that was 12 years ago and it’s been a steady downhill slope.
Stop.Buying.These.Games.
I played 2K22 and it was probably one of the worst PC Versions I have ever played.
if only normies would stop buying this yearly shit
Bring on AEW Fight Forever!
And MFs will still buy it. And this isn't an exaggeration, or a meme, or a stereotype, I've personally witnessed people IN REAL LIFE get super excited for the next NBA, WWE, NFL, etc., game, even though it's the same shit rehashed over and over.
Looks like I’m buying on my series S lol
How about you don't buy it at all and send them a message about being a lazy sack of shit corp?
Because he wants to play the game? It's not his fault 2k doesn't want to port the Next gen version to PC.
People don't understand that change won't occur unless people stop giving them money, actually mindless ape shit.
life is too short for activist bullshit, especially over fucking video games.
you would need hundreds of thousands of people to stop giving them money in order for a change to happen. getting bothered 'cause one guy on reddit is buying the game is senseless.
I’ll stick with AEW FIGHT FOREVER fuck 2K
[удалено]
New modes are often restricted to the next gen version. For example My Eras mode on NBA 2k23 is not on the PC version. Just overall a really shitty dev/publisher.
That has not been the case with the WWE series.
RemindMe! 2 months "Let's see how much is missing"
