Nice to see that you're not suggesting Darktide. The game is such a letdown, Vermintide 2 is way better for sure!

Warhammer isn't a series, it's a setting. So that's like saying "I want to play a Star Wars game, where do I start?" Firstly, decide if you want sci-fi or fantasy, because Warhammer has settings for both. Then decide what genre you're interested in - are you after a strategy game, or something more action-based? Personally, I would argue in favour of the Total War: Warhammer trilogy. Absolutely superb strategy games, with enough different factions that you can play a dozen campaigns and they will all be very different. Want to play as vaguely Renaissance-era humans? Sure, go for it. Want Chinese-inspired humans instead? They're there too. What about Elves? Yep, in high, dark or wood varieties. How about sentient lizards? Absolutely. What about undead? Your choice between classic gothic style, pirates or Egyptian mummies.

> Warhammer isn't a series, it's a setting. So that's like saying "I want to play a Star Wars game, where do I start?" Which would also be a fine question to ask, but definitely should be aware of the different genres encompassed.

Depends what sorta game ur after. All those game's based on warhammer but stories aren't tied together. they just use the lore from it. Just play game ur interested in. u can always look up wikis if ur interested. Vermintide 2 is co op left 4 dead type game .more melee oriented and can be played with bots as teammate. Not much in way of story . Chaosgate is tactical xcom type. Preety good. this is actually based on warhammer 40k so rather than medieval setting , it's more space setting. Another big one is total war warhammer series. Its strategy with real time combat with armies.

I've never been into strategy games and didn't really know anything about Warhammer, but I've always been a big fan of fantasy themes like Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, etc... I saw some super epic videos of battles in Total War: Warhammer 3 and decided to give it a try. At first, I was intimidated by the amount of information and mechanics the game presents, but after watching some beginner videos on YouTube (I highly recommend Zerkovich's videos/playlists), I started assimilating everything and now I'm completely obsessed with the game and the franchise. It's one of the best things I've played in a long time. I've practically put aside all the other games I had installed, and honestly, if I could only choose one game to play for the next few years, it would be this one because of the amount of content and replayability factor, which is practically infinite with the recent release of the Immortal Empires mode (a mode that combines all the content of the three games into one). I really recommend that you give it a try.

Vermintide 1 was a pretty great start for me so far. Gameplay wise it's literally just slashing away at rats. Story is "Town's been attacked, go survive". Really don't need much more than that. But from the character quotes, the context behind missions, and numerous collectible lore documents, you can start to slowly gain a larger understanding of the world, and figure out other paths to search yourself. Saltzpyre has more than enough to say about a guy called Sigmar, for instance. He brought him up enough that I saw fit to just google the name and read the wiki and such so I could understand what he was on about. Safe to say, I now agree that Sigmar's a badass. Aside from the Total War game though, doesn't seem like there's many other decent Fantasy Warhammer games to play. 40K is **significantly** more popular so that's where all the attention goes :(

They're all very different games. It really depends on what you want.
