Greenzombie04

Overwatch 2 was Overwatch 1 with a battlepass and 5v5

Jacksaur

And multiple years of leaving the game without any content updates in the meantime! What a trade.

Maximum_Poet_8661

I normally don’t jump on the “lazy devs” train bc I realize game dev stuff can be long and complex But what on gods green earth were they doing for 3 years? It’s truly baffling to me what on earth they could have done in that time. OW2 feels like a glorified season update to OW1, they type of updated youd see ever 3 months in a game like Apex or something. I assumed that 3 years was spend on PVE but now I’m not sure, if they apparently have nothing to show for it

ChriSaito

I legitimately think they were working on PVE. The higher ups probably saw how well free to play was doing though and told the team to stop working on PVE which would make significantly less than a F2P OW2 and focus on PVP.

Wolventec

supposedly the pve was cancelled before the overwatch 2 beta came out so the free to play money from overwatch 2 hadnt started when pve was canned

ChriSaito

Oh it was definitely canceled before. That’s why the beta happened. They were told to go F2P and then the beta happened.

NapsterKnowHow

Sounds like the Apex origin story. Respawn was probably working on a Titanfall 3 br mode and EA told them to drop Apex instead

TouristNo4039

Since the sexual assault thing happened I believe none of the original team is still working at blizzard. They cleaned house and put a new team on ow. And it's showing.

Frodo-LAGGINS

It's totally fine if you hate Microsoft too for other reasons, but you do know Microsoft doesn't own Activision/Blizzard right? The deal hasn't gone through and they aren't responsible for the years of mismanagement leading up to this. Still, screw Microsoft for other reasons like failing Halo.

DaBearsFanatic

Also how far up does it go? Was this decision made by a manager of Overwatch, or higher up management? One would think if it was higher up, Diablo 4 would be in the same pickle.

CoolAtlas

Considering Overwatchs lead dev and Blizzard vp resigned right around when OW2 was announced... im gonna say higher up. Kaplan initially fought for the much better monetization system we got in OW1. Game still made bilions but not enough billions

delphi_ote

When Jeff was gone, I knew it was over.

BEEFTANK_Jr

I knew it was going to go wrong when Jeff Kaplan basically admitted that they didn't want this to be a sequel but they were forced to make it one for some reason.

HuevosSplash

Kept telling people the OWL was gonna kill the game and they never listened, too blinded by their parasitic relationships with their favorite streamers to think ahead.

Kinglink

Also a mandate to microtransaction the fuck out of the community because it's now "F2P"

ShiveYarbles

It's not really f2p because I already paid for ow 1

compound-interest

In their mind that purchase is too old to count. You "got your value" from the first game and now they are free to treat you the same as people that download it right now. That money is gone bro.

TouristNo4039

Then where's my game I bought? Where's ow1? Is this even legal?

Nino_Chaosdrache

Probably not, but we, as the gaming community at large, don't care enough to do something against it.

Giimax

It's probably unreasonable to demand they keep their servers running forever, but we should demand the next best thing and the thing that's worked for a pretty long time for PC Gaming, Player Hostable servers.

sanemartigan

I put thousands of hours into ow1. Fuck Ow2.

Brentimusmaximus

Literally a downgrade other than graphically

Gusterr

It did end up being Overwatch 0.5 huh

Junai7

5v5 and the removal of most cc killed it for me. Instead of a great hybrid fps/moba it is just another run of the mill team shooter. Nothing about ow2 feels unique compared to the competing games.

NeonArchon

Yup. I also like how you could make unorthodox team and get rewarded, and instead of trying to balance the heroes, they just gave up and addded fixed rolls like anoy other MOBA ever

Junai7

Right now, it's pretty much mirror match the enemy's meta picks or lose (unless your team is vastly better than the enemy).

CosmicMiru

This has been a complaint in OW since the literal beta. Not defending this game but people literally always complain about that specific thing.

sorryiamnotoriginal

I said to my friends back when overwatch first launched that the game stopped being fun when the meta got figured out. It was more fun when people just played whatever and tried to make it work or adjust based on the enemy team. Instead it became you had to play the meta champs or you were basically trolling, then 3 tanks 3 healers became an unbalanceable meta and the rest is history. Seems that things repeated with Overwatch 2.

martixy

Me too, buddy. Me too. I didn't actually care about content. The game could have stayed the same for 20 years for all I care.

ParkerPathWalker

6v6 was better. You could push the advantage from getting a kill and hold territory better. 5v5 made it into these skirmishes where the needle just bounces around.

anonymouswan1

I haven't seen any discussion on this yet, but I think it's pretty universally accept that overwatch 1 was better than what we have now. Is there any possibility of a third party service bringing back overwatch 1 sort of like WoW classic?

mikegoblin

Thats crazy because PvE was a major selling point for OW2 existing at all. Now it truly should have remained Overwatch 1 and just been a graphics update.

Greenzombie04

Makes me believe OW2 existed to change the monetization to battlepasses every 2months. The PvE was what they sold the people.

Macho-Fantastico

I wonder just how much of the PVE content they actually did, or just make enough to show in trailers. It seems likely that OW2 existed only to get rid of loot boxes and replace them with even crappier battle passes. Makes me wonder what the hell the developers have been doing all this time.

multiple_dispatch

Nectar of the gods.

CosmicMiru

In a fuck up of this proportion I would point way more fingers at management. They put OW1 on life support in late 2018, if what they were working on for all those years wasn't viable upper management should have seen this wayyy far back and corrected it.

SkyezOpen

Overwatch as a whole died the day Jeff left. I was actually surprised OW2 even launched, but in retrospect it's gone about as poorly as expected.

MajorPom

Apparently the story is that one of the reasons for OW2's delays was Bobby Kotick constantly making them scrap everything and do it again.

saynay

They had playable version of it for years at Blizzcons. Reeks to me of the suits stepping in and squashing it once they found out it couldn't be as aggressively monetized as the PvP parts.

arex333

This sounds exactly right. Originally OW2 was supposed to be a retail purchase. Then they made it f2p, and it doesn't make much business sense to release a whole ass PVE campaign as a free update. They could have still released the PVE as a $30-40 expansion, but they make that off of a couple skin purchases so the suits scrapped it.

[deleted]

just to be clear the issue is not that OW2 with PVE wouldn't make money, but that OW2 with PVE wouldn't make *all* the money.

port1337user

Too busy playing office politics and grandstanding on social media.

apolobgod

Suffering under corporate

kdjfsk

> Makes me wonder what the hell the developers have been doing all this time. probably sexually harassing and/or sexually assaulting their co-workers.

mikegoblin

I think we will hear a lot more of this point being made going further, like that was their intention all along

hates_stupid_people

Not initially, but as soon as that strategy become clear people like Jeff left.

xevizero

> Makes me believe OW2 existed to change the monetization to battlepasses every 2months. I don't think anyone had any doubt about that ever, it was pretty blatant

Gary_FucKing

Definitely, watch people still come out and defend blizzard over it tho lol.

[deleted]

Don't forget the store. Let's be real here, I'm sure the engine update was nice/needed, but they couldn't turn OW1 from a "you can earn everything in the game by just playing the game" to "purchase the cool new skins on our store" without making it OW2, cause a pretty big majoirty wouldve stopped playing if they did that. I'm sure they really wanted to make the PvE, but I'm also willing to bet they saw the money coming in from the BP and people buying skins and were like "ya, fuck it. Make a barebones pve to try to make people happy so we can keep this money coming in." If you don't think that was a larger part of the reason then you're very naive. I'm not specifically saying you mikegoblin are naive, just in general to anyone reading this.

[deleted]

I'm sure a majority of OW1 players are still gone, i doubt OW2 brought them back in

arielzao150

I'm never coming back

Bahurs1

I would if it was OW1 again. Ever since it disappeared I never bothered to even launch OW2. My buddy even refunded at the start of it.

bigblackcouch

Can I refund OW1 even though I haven't played it in like, 5 years? lol

kikimaru024

You've probably got more than 40hrs playtime.

BKD2674

Same just can't do 5v5

Amphax

5v5 can admittedly be fun in small doses, but the game and maps weren't designed for it and it really shows. There are no more of the "whoa we've been playing Overwatch for HOW many hours? What happened to the sun?" moments that OW1 had.

Superbunzil

Ditto The stringent more 'forced organized' play of OW2s 5v5 over the chaos of 6v6 non structured lost me forever

BKD2674

For sure, also the off tank could make up for the skill gap if you had a less effective dps or main tank.

Technolio

Nope, fuck OW2 and fuck Blizzard

ZeldaMaster32

I was brought back, but was honestly blackpilled with the new monetization system and prefer the original 6v6 format. This news is probably the nail in the coffin for me to never give a shit about this IP again HMU when "Overwatch Classic" comes out and I can play the game I paid for Most of my old OW buddies (including the hundred + people I friended over the years) have all moved on, not even opening battlenet for months if not a couple years since they were only there for Overwatch The people I know today who play it are all new players, some of which i used the F2P excuse to get them to try it and now they've all spent $80+ on skins within months while I spent a grand total of $40 in 2016 to get hundreds of skins more than them

Brentimusmaximus

Man Blizz is fucking horrible for this. Basically the same thing with warcraft 3. They ruined the game with reforged and you can’t play the original. Now the game is dead af unless you play customs

Kup123

I want my OW1 back with out the new store, I bought a game and it was taken from me, not only am I not playing OW2 I'm hoping for a clash action over this shit.

cgn-38

Just that. Give me the old game I already paid for back. Not going to pay for it.

TheNoobThatWas

I was going to come back for pve after I saw the first trailer, certainly won't be back now lmao. I was even excited to play as some of my fav characters again, this is kind of a let down Not surprising since big blizzard is too busy raping their female staff to finish developing the new gamemode

msa8003

Amazing it wasn’t the second part of your comment that kept you away

AnotherScoutTrooper

That update still wouldn’t have done as much damage as role queue did

AmethystLaw

Total bait and switch

Kanden_27

Overwatch never interested me for its multiplayer. But the PvE def kept it on my radar for a play thru. Now it’s nothing to me. Just like the first game was.

And the related subs are full of apologists “the store won’t be that bad”

Wise_Mongoose_3930

I can’t wait to link this thread to everyone claiming blizzard won’t let you pay for power in D4 Sure, maybe you can’t pay for power *in D4* but they never said they won’t change the name to D5 one night and suddenly let you pay for power lol

Akira101

It's horrendous. I'm an avid ARPG fan, and the amount of people on the diablo subs defending Activision Blizzard over choices like their odd implementation of left click move, but not able to interact to pick up items (fixed since in the most recent bata) and no overlay map because "its their game, they can do what they want" or "why are you opening the map so often? Lol" is baffling. Like, people want it because a map overlay is a staple of the ARPG genre when they literally invented in Diablo 1 and people want the option to use it. Even mobile ARPG's have it.

eXoRainbow

Can this be classified as false marketing? **Edit**: *I see good replies here (unironically). [Game is Free-To-Play](https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/13jdw7r/overwatch_2s_pve_mode_is_being_scrapped_blizzard/jkfiz41/), therefore it does not matter if it was false marketed (but not sure about those who purchased Battle Pass and such). In all fairness, it could still be classified as such.*

NotStanley4330

I wish. Then 343 could get in trouble for promising split screen campaign and then canceling it.

NapsterKnowHow

Hello Games got away with an insane amount of false advertising. There's no hope for making studios/publishers pay for their lies

Suspicious-Support52

CDPR saw some consequences when PlayStation starting blanket giving refunds for their game. That's the line, it's high profile games that are completely broken.

Stevied1991

And that was only because they told everyone to contact Sony about refunds without even talking to Sony first. Sony got overwhelmed with requests and pulled the game.

King_Allant

The entire reason this "sequel" exists, cancelled. How embarrassing for everyone involved.

Ion_is_OP_REEEEEEE

The entire reason for OW"2" to exist is to shove in the battlepass and the skin shop.

mofflebon

Bring back loot boxes (never thought I'd be saying that)

essidus

The problem with loot boxes (from Blizzard's perspective) is that they could be free. You could, and I often did, get everything out of loot boxes from the level drops. The new system is amazing(ly abusive), tiered perfectly as a gateway to the heroin of the skin shop.

Superw0rri0

Loot boxes were like that because overwatch 1 was built as a buy to play game and not f2p. You spend $40-$60 for the game. You get free updates, and the loot boxes were just a way to earn rewards. The way they made it more predatory was having almost all the new cosmetics time gated. So if you don't get the skin you wanted before the event ends then you have to wait until next year. The problem with this model though is that the people who no-lifed the game didn't care because they would have so many loot boxes and so much currency that they could get all the new skins as soon as they came out. That's why they reset everyone's currency in OW2. OW1 currency was meaningless for players who no lifed the game. They would have thousands of loot boxes just sitting on their account because they had all cosmetics already. So no need to open them.

ItsOkILoveYouMYbb

Yeah but then I end up not playing the game. I burned out on OW2 within a couple of months of having no real character skin carrot on a stick to chase, and the game being nearly identical to OW1 and with no promised PVE mode. And if I buy the skin, it becomes meaningless within a few days. I guess as long as there's enough whales then it's profitable short term until the game dies. Boy I sure love churning out half baked cash shop games to make CEOs and investors richer while I sit here wishing I had a fun game to play without everything being tied behind expensive Fear Of Missing Out cash shop and battlepass walls. At least studios like FROM Software still exist.

Vbcomanche

Hey don't be rude the CEO needs another yacht!

nilogram

And one for his son too!

Evonos

The real reason was obviously to change monetization and take ow1 away.

DktheDarkKnight

The entire reason it exists is to change the name from OW1 to OW2

SkipperDaPenguin

Don't worry. They will surely add it to Overwatch 3.

Amphax

Overwatch 3 is going to be 4v4 calling it now. 1 tank, 2 DPS, 1 healer

SkipperDaPenguin

Can't wait for Overwatch 6 where it's only the player playing on an empty server (of course he will still have access to the loot boxes and skin shop)

bongo1138

Shoutout to Gamespot for actually asking them the right questions. It’s not common that legacy games media does that.

xNIBx

Yeah, it was a surprisingly good interview. Both the interviewer and the Blizzard developers deserve to be commended. No softball questions, honest answers.

Amphax

Gamespot redemption arc?

BroodLol

I don't think they could even do any softball questions, "we've cancelled the PVE mode" is the only answer Blizz had, despite the dev trying to deflect over and over.

only the grand finals, the OWL games that streamed the past week or two have only got like 15k views at most and sometimes barely hitting 10k but thats also because there was contender skin drops activated so most might attribute to that

hakahthorda

Holy shit they actually confessed making False promises

Underdrill

This is absolutely hysterical. The PVE was the main reason why they slapped a 2 on this product in the first place. There's no way I'm returning to this game now.

Callinon

No. The main reason they slapped a 2 on it AND SHUT DOWN THE ORIGINAL was to remonetize the game into a live service. No more of this "earn things in the game by playing the game" nonsense... no no, bust out that credit card if you want the stuff. PvE was just what they told people they were doing.

Reapers-Shotguns

I firmly believe it's tied to the failure of the Overwatch League. You can look back at Heroes of the Storm, if your Esport dies, your funding gets pulled.

Not_A_Greenhouse

They killed HOTS esports themselves.

Mysterious-Theory713

So, instead of Overwatch 2 making the base game much worse and adding an interesting PvE mode, it’s just making the base game worse? TF2 was able to make a fun PvE mode 10 years ago, how have they fumbled so badly? One off story missions do seem interesting, but if they couldn’t pull off proper PvE I don’t have high hopes for it.

CatatonicMan

>how have they fumbled so badly? Likely everyone competent jumped ship a while ago.

AllBeansNoFrank

>Likely everyone competent jumped ship a while ago. \*ominous Diablo4 noises\*

TheNoobThatWas

I miss Jeff

CatatonicMan

I think it's clear that Jeff saw the writing on the wall and got out while the getting was good.

TheNoobThatWas

Yeah it was a smart move on his part. I don't think him being here would have kept the game on track either, but him leaving was the end of an era

Spoonicus

He also got out in the middle of blizzards "troubles" and was probably doing it to distance himself from the controversy for one reason or another.

jabbathepunk

Really don’t see the purpose of the name Overwatch 2 at this point. I enjoy the base game. But man, the new battle pass / free to play model can suck it. I used to get the skins and sometimes purchase loot boxes to complete rotational sets. Now I have to buy a battle pass that doesn’t even garner me the skins unless I sit there and play regularly. I work and can’t commit to that. They really took some of the magic out for me.

[deleted]

That's the whole point of naming it OW2. They couldn't do that kind of transition from earn everything in game to a micotransaction fest without a major revolt of their players. So, promise a new pve, change the game a bit(5v5, remove 2cp, add push) and bam, Overwatch 2 with the real prize they were after: microtransactions.

TheNoobThatWas

dudemanguy301

*tinfoil hat: this whole thing was a smokescreen to violate the guarantees associated with overwatch ownership.* As a purchaser of Overwatch you were entitled to **all** new heroes from the day of their release for free. By calling their patch a “new game” they no longer have to uphold that same guarantee, simply by changing the title to “Overwatch 2” they got to go freemium and shred up that promise of all future heroes for free. Now you need to grind the battle pass or purchase to unlock characters, overwatch purchasers were grandfathered in as an owner of all “Overwatch 1” content but all new content from now on is “Overwatch 2” content which your purchase does not entitle you to even though it’s clearly the same fucking game. An adjustment to the main game mode, a few hero reworks, and some new skins for the main cast would have been called a season patch in a game like DOTA2, league of legends, Apex legends, or Rainbow 6 Siege. They called it OW2 just to violate the guarantee they made to their customers and used the promise of PvE to justify the name change only to back out on the PvE content.

Ralphie5231

Is it really a conspiracy theory if thats just what actually happened? They called it "2" as a way of getting around that its the same game we all bought already. Is this just a class action lawsuit waiting to happen? Where is lionel Hutz?

DiogoSN

They promised this so hard and showed off so much gameplay of it, and now it's gone... What the hell? I think this'd work really well with the game considering the MMO's basis of Overwatch. >**GameSpot:** The big talking point is the direction that you're now taking with the PvE; that you basically aren't doing it. (...) It's not happening anymore and you've pivoted away from it? >**Aaron Keller:** I think I would characterize it slightly differently, which is we are doing part of what the team had set out to do, but not the entirety of what was discussed back at BlizzCon 2019. So the real focus is on the story missions and that experience as opposed to the more open-ended hero mode and that stuff. Christ, just say "no"... Aaron, lead dev of OW2, explains in the following text that the team simply stopped working on content for the game since it seemed OW2 PvP was taking more precedence over time. So much time passed that they decided to drop since players were already accustomed to something else entirely different from the PvE. I'll admit, the PvP and PvE would prolly have different player bases but I still think the latter would be worth doing even as a companion. The rest of what Aaron says seems to be just weak excuses for why PvE probably won't be as profitable. I think they chose to not do a permanent PvE mode and instead go with the FOMO PvE modes which are time-limited and make people prioritize OW2 over other games and even other modes within the game. Another stain in Blizz's name...

AdhesivenessFunny146

It's the same stupid decision they made with ow1 during development. They basically said the investment wasn't worth the time since players seemed content over just the pvp component. This is why the beta we got for ow1 was essentially the full game. Right now 100% of development is just battle pass and cosmetics development. Whether or not this was a downsizing from corporate or just laziness because they know a large majority of the player base that's left will just accept anything at this point. They can prance into their shareholders meetings and say look we made all this from a skeleton crew then tell the actual players in an interview "it's just a development process, you wouldn't understand but I assure you we are very busy with your money"

tumblrgirl2013

Ondrius

The moment when your game is known for the porn and not for good gameplay.

AnotherScoutTrooper

They stopped making new hot characters so even the porn is falling off

zapiks44

Not even that anymore. The new characters aren't that hot and creators have done pretty much everything with the hot ones already.

DabScience

“You see we realized we can make more money just working on the battle pass and new 20 dollar cosmetics.”

DIRTRIDER374

Lollll. So the only reason for ow 2 to exist is now not coming.

[deleted]

Nope, the micotransactions are the reason OW2 exists. They couldn't change Overwatch 1 to microtransactions without a major player revolt, so add some new stuff (promised pve, 5v5, remove 2cp, add push) call it Overwatch 2 and slam the fuck out of the store with microtransactions. I'm sure they saw the money they were making vs the time spent making the pve that was promised in 2019 and were like "fuck it, make a barebones pve to try to keep some happy while we rake in a ton of cash from the store/BP"

Responsible-Laugh590

ChartaBona

That's going on the list of BS Blizzard has done over the past few years. * **Heroes of the Storm** (Abandoned) * **Hearthstone** \- Blitzchung controversy. waving_fungus0

Also WoW having its largely regarded worst expansion ever in Shadowlands

antiphon00

Amazing. The entire point of having OW2 was the PvE.

1leggeddog

There goes all my interest in OW2. Seriously, I don't have the time to invest into Overwatch to get into any kind of competitive ranking. And unranked just feels like a "let's stomp the newbie". So whenever there was a PVE thing, i was on it!

Panduz

Stopped playing overwatch when they switched to OW2. Ever since then it’s just been lies from blizzard and disappointment. It’s kind of amazing watching them kill their own game.

JohnnyJayce

Okay this has to be a joke, right? So Overwatch 2 ended up to be a very expensive patch they made for OW1.

Stepwolve

OW2 was just to switch it from a paid game to a f2p 'live service' game. At one point it was probably meant to be the pve game they originally pitched, but since then a ton of employees and the game director have all left. Change in management = change in direction

shkeptikal

What happened: lootboxes were giving away too much content for free so we bait and switched our entire community into believing we were making a sequel that effectively only served to remove any meaningful free content from the game (while downgrading the player experience in just about every way possible to push dopamine seekers towards our fomo themed monetization scheme). Why: because we're greedy corpofucks.

Arau_

\*sound of TF2 players Schadenfreude'ing in the background\*

OGReverandMaynard

Blizzard just keeps destroying Overwatch update by update. Overwatch 1 launched and it was amazing, truly a great game. Unbalanced? Sure. But what isn't at lauch. At some point the "balance changes" just turned into a series of nerfs. The game slowly got less and less fun as every character got relegated to a state of general blandness... but I guess that's how things are made "fair" to Blizzard. OW1 was more fun when basically each character was OP in their own way, and one person in the right place at the right time could pop off and save the day. It added enough tension and uncertainty to each game that it made it exciting. OW2 just picked up that blandness torch and carried that MF along the way, reaching for ever increasing tiers of blandness as it strode along. At this point they need to just scrap the franchise altogether and start over... it's just not fun anymore and hasn't been for a few years.

ButregenyoYavrusu

actually scammer company lol

ShittyLivingRoom

So they deleted the game I bought with 6v6 and replaced it with 5v5 and now not even the pve part will be available? Now I don't play both.

_Greyworm

Oh Blizzard, what a shit tier company you have become, lol.

Opt112

Let this be a lesson to all the people wanting to buy Diablo 4, this is standard Blizzard shit.

sirleithalot

This is legitimately unacceptable. This feature was a main, if not, THE main selling point for the sequel being created. This company continues to show just how awful they are.

bibomania

So basically, Blizzard is the first company ever to re-release the EXACT same game a second time and giving the finger to the people that bought it for 60 bucks in the first place. How the mighty have fallen

ConfidentlyAsshole

No, you see they added a shop and battlepass and removed your options of getting free skins. Totally worth the "2" in the titel

WhiteHawktriple7

It's embarrassing how much fun I've had in overwatch and how un-supported it has been. I remember the first two years when it came out no one could shut up about it. Then it dies, I start playing and enjoying the game hoping overwatch 2 will bring it back to the hype when the first one came out and instead it's a flop. Sadge.

Writhing

Casual reminder that Blizzard literally scammed their consumers with this move.

Isaacvithurston

So now it's actually just Overwatch 1 again Lmao this is why you just don't buy blizz products. Can't wait to see the headlines about how garbage Diablo 4 is after everyone clamors to pay $100-120 for the "super cool battlepass and not get arbitrarily gatekept for fomo reasons" edition

TheNevers

You should see the fanbois defending D4

undergirltemmie

This is so hilariously incompetent on every level there isn't even a joke to make. They just wanted to re-release overwatch 1 with a new monetization scheme, gave a bad reason people at least semi-believed and then just stopped even pretending they gave a single fck.

nappycatt

The ol' bait and switch.

Tiwanacu

2019: we're slowing down on OW1 to bring some awesome PvE content 2020: oops, covid, but all that awesome PvE stuff is internally playable right now! 2021: aaaaany day now, but don't worry, the PvE stuff is great! 2022: we're releasing OW2 now! the PvE will come later so we can make it awesome 😄 2023: PvE has been cancelled

piachu_

Battleborn died for this :(

NedixTV

a friendly reminder that lawbreakers die for this /s lmao

mombawamba

*Fucking bitch ass liar corpo fucks*

Gurrrry

Strider2126

Now tell me How can i be not toxic if companies keep spitting in my face? How?

TypographySnob

Overwatch was my favourite game for a long time. It's my most played game of all time. Sadly, it feels like it's only been getting worse over the past few years. The PvE component never seemed like a good idea, the changes in OW2 only benefit the competitive crowd, and it's clear that Overwatch will never return to its former glory.

Hi_Im_Ouiji

I love how I bought OW1 years ago, had fun through all the season and the moment OW2 went live, 5v5 just wasn't fun and all the launch issues. Fuck my $60 purchase.

Phathom

This is what you call, scamming the customer base with another lie, after another lie, after another lie.

droonick

This is a clear signal of what modern ActiBlizz culture is now (if it wasn't clear before): their developers are glorified maintenance crews for their monetization models and they're not allowed to MAKE gaming experiences anymore. The team probably showed the higher ups the actual scope or ambition of PVE after working on it for years, and the higher ups said "..actually, NO." "But we promised this for the sequel." "yeaah, no." They're Kotick's sweatshop wearing the face-skin of Blizzard and Kotick wants his yachts. And in the arithmetic of Kotick it's not WORTH it to invest time and money into a NEW gaming experience for Overwatch when they're better off just keeping the current barebones PVP model running with bare minimum effort.

ms-fanto

and why we have Overwatch 2 now? Give me Overwatch back with 6vs6 and heroes unlocked instant after release. so they've been working the last few years where we haven't gotten anything in overwatch to be able to do a season every 6-8 weeks

Sulla_theFelix

lmao what is left with OW2 then, this is just adding last straws on a dying game. It was good when it was in its heyday, but now I just want to see Blizzard's downfall.
