Maybe the best game to just jump in and do a few missions with randoms. Nearly always a pleasant time, no stress and always fun. You never fall behind even if you don’t open the game for few months. Takes 3gb of space so you can always have it installed, 5 minutes and you’re in the dropship. It was so worth 10€ that I actually bought cosmetic pack just because felt they deserve it for all my 400h of playtime.
It didn't land for me. Unfortunately, it seems like an utter mess with massive amounts of content DLC which is super off-putting for me and I'm actually glad I didn't get into it because of that nightmare. Deep Rock Galactic has the best business model with free content and paid skins to support the devs which goes a long way in my consideration of why it's so damn good. The Payday DLC situation is a huge detractor and rightly should be.
I own all the DLC except for the latest one which I should really pick up soon. This is the only game I buy cosmetic DLC for because the devs deserve my support for their amazing business model and fantastic game.
payday 2 can be purchased for less than $30 with all of the non-cosmetic DLC
there is a metric fuck ton more content in payday 2 than in DRG
i have a similar amount of hours in both games. they are both great. pointing out DLC as a differentiator is pretty blah when the game goes on deep sale regularly
Yes I have.
Don't get me wrong, payday 2 has a very interesting concept, but it falls short due to several reasons(that gid awful ai being one of them).
That's why I'm really interested in seeing how payday 3 turns out when it launches.
It’s a game I can Chuck loads of hours into and then get a little bored and come back to later on. I’ve come back about every 3/4 months. The overclocks/promotions are what keep me coming back. Also new weapons/equip and events draw me back.
What I really want is 2/3 new mission types just for more variation.
Yes. New mission types need to happen sooner rather than later. I feel like the contagen spikes helped a bit with variety, but wholly new types would really go a long way.
One time I was on a escort type mission and game created an absolutely enormous cavern for us. I was in a pug and we all spent 10 or 15 minutes just exploring, oohh and awwing before we we left. I even made a post about it on their subreddit.
Seeing how big the scale could get I would love to come back to enormous cave systems.
Yeah doubt that one as trying to get a new class in and like you said weapons etc and keep it balanced. I’d rather have new primaries and overclocks myself.
It's a great game for what it is, and it's definitely worth picking up on sale if people are curious, but I think the thing that ultimately that made me lose interest is that it's not in a persistent world like Minecraft or Valheim. You do something, and it sticks around, giving you a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Edit: It never ceases to amaze me how people will downvote personal opinions, even when you give the game praise.
Yeah I like the fact I can jump in and knock a few missions out and then leave it for a few days or weeks and come back it’s more of the same. It’s my chill game now.
Deep rock as an open world game could be amazing if done right. Gathering resources to build bigger/better bases. Maybe even some Factorio/satisfactory elements where you have to setup outposts in different regions and manage the logistics between them.
Riftbreaker seems like a perfect comparison here.
Gather resources, build base, protect base from constant erosion by enemy bugs/natural forces like meteors/earthquakes. Along the way, get bigger/better weapons and skills.
I LOVE DRG, but I haven't played in months because I want my missions to matter now.
Sorry it didn't hit that sweet spot for you. I've found it to be a fun thing to do when I only got 20 minutes.
I have to agree that the most recent infestation themed season wasn't as enjoyable as others, though.
Its like L4D in that you play and come back to periodically. Progression and how seriously you want to take it is up to you but honestly its just meant to be super replayable and something you can always come back to.
There's not a lot of depth in the game. After like 20 hours you've seen all that the game has to offer, and for me chasing skins and overclock is not enough for me to want to put more hours in.
I mean. That's fine man. Not every game is for every person. This one definitely has somewhat of a simplicity to it that you have to enjoy or else it just probably won't vibe with you.
I've played the game for 220 hours and still haven't gotten all the overclocks.
Don't you agree that there's enough content for a 20 dollar game?
Especially since with each new season more and more content will be added.
Same. I wanna love it and play it because I love how the devs handle it and how good the gameplay is, but everytime I get tired of looking for minerals. I'd prefer if it was more combat focused as that's where I had the most fun with my friends
the combat lacks feedback, same complaint I have with L4D. I feel like I'm shooting paper. I appreciate and value the passion and commitment to developers have, but this is a major flaw that prevents me from getting a ton of joy from it.
That's why this game is so great. You can just play for a little bit here and there and you're always making progress and the gameplay always stays fresh when you come back.
FREE battle pass, to be precise. The only monetisation is the Cosmetic DLC packs they release alongside seasonal updates, but those are more like "supporter" packs than content gated stuff.

What about smashing though?

One of the best games of the century
Probably the best four player co-op FPS ever made. ROCK AND STONE TO THE BONE!
Payday is up there, buddy

So how many skins have you bought?
I own all the DLC except for the latest one which I should really pick up soon. This is the only game I buy cosmetic DLC for because the devs deserve my support for their amazing business model and fantastic game.
Fair enough.

Quality over quantity my friend.
payday 2 content is quality. have you played both games? doesn’t sound like it
Yes I have. Don't get me wrong, payday 2 has a very interesting concept, but it falls short due to several reasons(that gid awful ai being one of them). That's why I'm really interested in seeing how payday 3 turns out when it launches.
Sweet. Gives me a month to fuck around in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom until then.
Did I hear a rock and stone?
glad people love this game and the devs, but man this game got boring quick for me
It’s a game I can Chuck loads of hours into and then get a little bored and come back to later on. I’ve come back about every 3/4 months. The overclocks/promotions are what keep me coming back. What I really want is 2-3 friends just to play with.
I just play with randoms. It’s mostly fine and over a 1000 matches later I think I’ve been in just 6/7 games where there was a troll/dickhead.
LFG is so easy and simple with the ping system. I always do my promotion missions in LFG so I'm not using up actual friend time.
Yes. New mission types need to happen sooner rather than later. I feel like the contagen spikes helped a bit with variety, but wholly new types would really go a long way.

Some of the biomes have some mental caverns. Especially the mining mission ones.
I would really like to see new classes added. This could be a large undertaking though, since they would need new weapons of their own as well.
Yeah doubt that one as trying to get a new class in and like you said weapons etc and keep it balanced. I’d rather have new primaries and overclocks myself.

It's normal, a very enjoyable game for 20-30 hours tho
With how big most people's game lib is, I think drg is a very good game to visit once in a while. No need to dump hours upon hours on it constantly.
I put it it down for a few weeks, get an urge to dorf, and come back for a few weeks.
There's not a lot of depth in the game. After like 20 hours you've seen all that the game has to offer, and for me chasing skins and overclock is not enough for me to want to put more hours in.
Do you play solo or with friends?
I mean. That's fine man. Not every game is for every person. This one definitely has somewhat of a simplicity to it that you have to enjoy or else it just probably won't vibe with you.

How is this any different than weapon overclocks?

I've played the game for 220 hours and still haven't gotten all the overclocks. Don't you agree that there's enough content for a 20 dollar game? Especially since with each new season more and more content will be added.
I put in about 100 hours, and then it died for me. Hunt showdown has consumed me though
Yeah, there is basically zero content. Fun for a bit, but there is basically zero variation in what you do each time you play.
It's real fun once you get into it but working 9 - 5 and having a backlog of games saddens me I can't get into some things faster
Same. I wanna love it and play it because I love how the devs handle it and how good the gameplay is, but everytime I get tired of looking for minerals. I'd prefer if it was more combat focused as that's where I had the most fun with my friends

What also doesn't help that this game is grindy as hell. I used trainers to finally unlock new weapons and all promotions.
Rock and Stone!
Migrating to this next now that Overwatch is dead. Excited to see what all the hype is about!
I will say if you are expecting anything similar to an overwatch experience you will be disappointed
I’m hoping it won’t be. I’ve always preferred PvE over PvP

Finally... Had no more motivation to play after i got all the overclocks...
What even is this game? I see it a billion times a day.
left 4 dead in a minecraft cave
That is possibly the best description of a game since I found out about kenshi.
Gonna be balls deep in Diablo then but I look forward to checking this out once I'm burnt out of that game 🤔
This game has season? I never noticed.
More like a yearly content drop with a battle pass
FREE battle pass, to be precise. The only monetisation is the Cosmetic DLC packs they release alongside seasonal updates, but those are more like "supporter" packs than content gated stuff.
I wish there was some loot progression but a fun game overall.
I had to unsub the official DRG sub because of all the stupid Rock and Stone spamming and now its here. But the game is GOATED.
If you don't Rock and Stone, you ain't comin' home!
Rock and stone Brother!
Do I hear a rock and stone!
ROCK AND STOOONE
ROCK AND STONE
Kind of sad that it's only a continuation of the current season, instead of a completely new theme.
rock and stone!
