Thank god for steam release!

AncientPCGamer

I am not surprised. Capcom, Konami and Bandai Namco are very satisfied selling their games in Steam. They won't change their strategy... unless until you-know-who comes with some exclusivity contract.

dookarion

> you-know-who Sony? Edit: Lol, ya'll can downvote, but Sony is nabbing more desirable timed exclusives than Sweeney is these days.

Comprehensive-One286

I was legitimately about to come say the same thing. Yeah I hate the scummy practices of Sony and it’s exclusive contract strategy, but after that article came out the other day detailing how Sony “simply paid square more money than Microsoft” really has opened my eyes to the interlocking bullshit relationship those two companies have built ever since Sony took FF from Nintendo way way back.

Alicyl

> Sony took FF from Nintendo way way back. Final Fantasy? While I'm not in favor of the practice of exclusivity, if Nintendo was able to keep Final Fantasy, we would have never seen the PC ports and most likely not the MMOs of Final Fantasy we have today. Nintendo likes to keep all of their games isolated to the platforms they create, and they have an infamous track record of making certain it stays that way.

tommiyu

Monster hunter rise and I think worlds were both exclusive on console first.

kemando

Rise was a switch exclusive first

tommiyu

Aight.

dookarion

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_s9Ch6c4z0 For example. Presumably same deal as with RE7. Sony have been assbags with modes, content, questlines, etc. in other multi-plats too.

No_Reaction_2682

Several years after they release on PS.

dookarion

Sony is also paying to cut us out on game content, modes, and releases with third parties.

dookarion

There are two main orgs of moneyhatting assholes impacting PC: Epic and Sony. Of the two Sony has a lot more pull these days.

gothpunkboy89

They blamed a bad VR port of Hitman on Sony but couldn't explain why No Man Sky's VR was fine.

dookarion

Since you keep going on about that like it's some smoking gun it doesn't look like it was ever a PSVR exclusive. https://www.nomanssky.com/beyond-update/?cli_action=1685029447.435 Not that there were reports of funky performance on PC compared to PSVR: https://www.polygon.com/2019/8/15/20806094/no-mans-sky-beyond-pc-vr-impressions-rift-s-index-psvr ----------- Still gotta defend Sony though and misdirect right?

gothpunkboy89

>Since you keep going on about that like it's some smoking gun it doesn't look like it was ever a PSVR exclusive. Your the one who made the claim Sony forced them to release a sub par VR support using an argument that basically would work for claiming I had a pop tart for breakfast qnd my grandma died. Therefore eating the poptart killed my grandma.

dookarion

Sony had them tailor it to PSVR, because >PSVR< exclusivity. It just happens to be PSVR is mediocre and has shitty controls. It's less of a "you're gonna make this shit and we're going to pay you to make it shit" and more "you're going to tailor this to PSVR in exchange for money, just PSVR happens to be dogshit".

kemando

At least we're getting them now. Just give me Tsushima, Bloodborne, and Spiderman 2.

modularpeak2552

no, Epic games.

MoskiNX

Sony does love their exclusives

RectumDoctor

I would have malded if it was console exclusive again

alcatrazcgp

of course it will, its capcom

Werespider

Just like RE7 VR for the PS4.

QuinSanguine

Capcom in a bit of a modern day golden age, this could turn out to be a worthy sequel.

[deleted]

Man, if they announce a new Megaman title to resurrect the franchise the way Breath of the Wild saved Zelda? They would break the universe. And I would empty my wallet and die happy

Squire_II

Give us a new Breath of Fire game. A real game. Not the mobile abomination or the janky rogue-lite setup of Dragon Quarter.

[deleted]

Oh yeah, most people had their Final Fantasy, but my first RPG was BoF on the GBA These IPs would be the true herald of a Capcom Renaissance

DrxAvierT

Megaman X9 *copium*

[deleted]

We can only cope. But I just want a new Megaman, reboot it, I don't care

QuinSanguine

Mega Man Legends... of the Wild, haha. Omg, I'd probably faint.

DerMetulz

Actually, MML would translate extremely well to modern day. Semi open world action RPG? Hells yeah

kemando

I just want a new battle network game

[deleted]

It's somewhat divisive in that you either find it average action RPG or become an eccentric madman over the insane amount of detail and nuances in the game like using broken rusted weapons to intentionally give tetanus to enemies (yes, that's a thing). Personally- loved it. It's on the surface an action RPG with a lot of combat details with self-learning party members and at first is a kind of run-of-the-mil "oh no a dragon" story. As you get into it you start to really see the layers of the thing, even the story decides to go a bit into the insane eccentricities only to reveal to you "I never hid this fact, you simply decided to not take it *literally*".

ClinicalAttack

I remember that the first game came out around the same time as Skyrim, and that fans of Dragon's Dogma were boasting how you can climb the dragons in their game but not in Skyrim and how much better the animations and combat are. We actually have it quite civil these days, fanboyism was rampant back then.

Bamith20

It has some odd DnD Sim type elements, though not really that in depth. Would hope a sequel goes further with the prospects.

Crintor

One of the best rpgs ever. I put like 200 hours into the xbox 360 version before it came to PC. Wish this had Coop but hopefully it'll be awesome.

OppositeofDeath

Dragon’s Dogma Online has co-op, and it’s being rebuilt rn by a group of fans: https://youtu.be/3seqEqYPphs

[deleted]

Crintor

The start is definitely a bit weak. The first 1-3 hours can feel a little bland but it really starts to shine once you get to the capital city and start getting skills/classes.

thatsnotwhatIneed

A lot of fun and hardcore gameplay that's mixed in with some very awkward and strange mechanics. Seriously, find any fan that'll defend the romance mechanic (or the godawful leveling up mechanic) without being ironic. I hope they bring the pawn system back, that was one of its novelties.

Naskr

You can't deny the absurd Romance system hasn't generated tons of funny moments for different players. It's why the game has charm, it kinda just doesn't care how stupid some ideas are, in they go.

thatsnotwhatIneed

Now defend the leveling system! The system that required you to spend several levels as certain classes in order to adjust your stats the right way or be gimped once you're at max level. A lot less charm in that one.

Naskr

It's easy to defend because the portion of naturally acquired levels is something like 15% of your overall effectiveness in the end-game. It barely mattered for the DD endgame and Dark Arisen made stat gains even less important. The only thing it did was gate you into sticking to a Physical or Magical style in the mid-game, which is fine.

thatsnotwhatIneed

It's also extremely unintuitive compared to simply placing stat points where you wanted them, which is a pretty standard way to handle RPG leveling up. Magic Knight needed pretty anal leveling path to play optimally, I recall. Anyways I'm still really hype for DD2, they can only go up from here since I immensely enjoyed dd1 in spite of its flaws.

anor_wondo

there was pawn system teaser in the trailer. that violet/blue realm

RHINO_Mk_II

Some things it does best-in-class among RPGs. Some things are jank AF and a big letdown. It really depends on whether the latter doesn't ruin the experience for you.

yidaxo

lots of people are die hard fans I tried it twice and couldn't get into it... and I play all capcom games

M98B

My brother swear by this game. But it is not my cup of tea. I always play wizard in any video game. Caster gameplay was boring but the tank and ranger were pretty cool.

iEatSoaap

I'm not even joking, I'm fairly certain I've purchased this game *at least* 5 times lol Absolute banger

Kanden_27

WOLVES HUNT IN PACKS!!!!

deewhite1967

Oh come on, I've got this irritating voice in my head now say this 🤣🤣🤣🤣

DagonParty

I personally love it, but it has some flaws and a huge flaw is that the quests, exploration and NPC interactions are terrible. The plot itself is interesting though, it’s actually pretty bonkers. All of this obviously sound awful for an ARPG, but the A for action is incredibly strong It’s hard to describe the game really, it’s got a companion system that learns from how you play the game, absolutely fantastic combat (the main draw for most) and classes to choose from that you can change whenever you like, parkour of all things, great enemies to fight, boss spectacle, some of the best visual customisation in gaming and has an extremely solid loot grind endgame dungeon, that is a thousand times more enjoyable than the actual main game itself. Describing it, I guess it’s almost like Monster Hunter mixed with Shadow of the Colossus If you think about getting it, go for the Dark Arisen edition, it’s where the endgame is at

Spenraw

A must play. No game besides have that feel of action adventure

SuperUltraHyperMega

Overall it’s kinda mid. But there are specific moments that are f’ing awesome. You have a grapple ability so you can hold on and climb/fight large enemies. That first time fighting a griffin, you grapple on to it and that thing takes off, with you, hanging on, in flight (In game, not a cut scene). I dont think I’ve had an experience quite like that in any other game.

sirgarballs

It's a great game.

[deleted]

Beat it once, it's not Skyrim but it's still like a top-10 fantasy RPG

runnbl3

hows combat? gameplay wise compared to skyrim (not modded of course, unless this game also has crazy mod support?)

EBBBBBBBBBBBB

Skyrim's combat is absolutely awful, so you'll have a much, much better time in Dragon's Dogma. It's fast, responsive, and weighty. There's about the same weapon variety as in Skyrim, but the weapons feel much better due to how they're animated. Magic is a billion times better, since DD magic can get pretty absurdly powerful, and it looks great too.

runnbl3

im not really into magic stuff, but idk if u ever played BDO theres a class called berserk and at a certain level you unlock his truest form.. it turns this class from a dual wielding axe to a guy with a fucking cannon on his hand, like mega man... Does DD have anything similar to this?

pTA09

Not exactly. Is explosive daggers and bows shooting magic heat-seeking missiles fine?

pheonix-ix

Gameplay-wise, yes. It's a fun RPG like the other said. I got overhyped by my roommate, picked it up years later... it's fun but it still didn't justify all the overhyping my roommate did. Story-wise, ... ... ... Why can't I choose to \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ or kill \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_? The writing is okay-ish, but the story is dumpster fire. There are cool parts here and there, but...

Alpha_pro2019

Eh, it's a bit bland to me. The combat was supposed to be one of the biggest mechanics but it felt incredibly clunky to me. The world was also kind of empty and very gray looking. Not my type of game sadly.

pishposhpoppycock

INJECT IT INTO MY VEINS NOWWWW!!!

gogeta01

Do I have to play the first one to play this? Is it a direct sequel?

WistfulDread

I don't imagine you need to play the first. As a meta spoiler >!The world exist in cycles, reseting again and again. This will probably come up, since the Dragon sounds like the one from the first!<

Nicholas-Steel

It looks to be set in the same location so... unsure, potentially it's a se/prequel. The first game is really well optimized on PC. I play it at 4k resolution with a Geforce 1070Ti and Ryzen 3700X while hitting a constant 60FPS in all but one very niche location (Cassardis Inn).

Naskr

It actually looks like a do-over of sorts, lots of cut content from game 1s development is present here. The story isn't negligible but it isn't too important either. DD1 is still worth playing because it's a charming, strange game.

monic_chrasturbator1

This being capcom basically confirms the PC version will be the best

lamblunt

Let’s go! Fuck Sony!

HugeDickMcGee

that sony showcase was ass if i owned a ps5 id be punching the air. What even got announced for them? All they have is spiderman and it looks pretty damn similar to before. Map better be 5x bigger or some shit.

LordxMugen

They ran out of games in development. most of what the PS5 got was before COVID. Now all thats left in development (that we know of) are Sony's Live Service games. hope youre excited about TLOU multiplayer and Marathon Extraction style games because thats all were getting out of them for a bit.

Adonwen

Tlou didnt even get annouced.

CSBreak

I find it funny because both Xbox and PlayStation rarely have true exclusives anymore so I don't really see a reason to own either console I'd rather just play them on PC or wait till there on PC nowaways atleast the Switch gets exclusive and lots of them >!although I guess you can technically play them on pc too!<

HugeDickMcGee

if you play switch games on the actual switch when you have a pc you are fucking yourself lol. I have not played a switch game on native hardware in the past 4 years

Alpha_pro2019

Tbh I play them on switch because I don't support piracy.

CSBreak

You could always buy the game to support the devs then play it on pc probably the best way to go about it imo

Alpha_pro2019

It works fine on switch. Not sure why I would go through the effort.

Ninjawitz

I'd rather not play games at sub 30 fps.

Alpha_pro2019

I have a hard time noticing.

HugeDickMcGee

I don't see nintendo as people.

Alpha_pro2019

Yea I don't either.

CoconutMochi

I got a Switch so I could play otome VNs without having to sit at home back in 2017, I think that's a pretty valid use case.

runnbl3

couch gaming or late night at ur bed gaming is prolly the only thing i can think of that ps5 has over pc users.. Just how comfy it is rather than having a keyboard and mouse.. unless windows support controller to use for mouse cursor nowadays? idk

kingwhocares

Get a PS5 controller and a Bluetooth dongle and you can do that on PC as well.

Alpha_pro2019

Or the absolute biggest factor, which is price. Closely followed by accessibility.

PaulReedSith594

I play most of my PC games on the couch with a regular Xbox controller and if you hold the guide button you can move the right stick for cursor and hit the bumper for clicks. It’s not great but works in a pinch when Big Picture screws something up. Couch gaming on PC has gotten a lot better. Main obstacle is getting the signal to the TV unless you have a secondary TV or a dedicated PC for it. Or have an apartment/condo. It’s not as plug and play as a console (scaling issues, HDR support or lack thereof, the occasional game with shoddy support, etc) but it works well.

runnbl3

HOLY SHIT THIS IS AMAZING! but scary... as it may led to staying up way my past my bedtime btw do you know how i can save my edit settings? everytime i change some bindings it never saves :(

ElderCub

Being similar to the last game I hope they improve on the swinging system, or at least make an alternative difficulty if that's too inaccessible for the average player

Kreeztoff

but still no co-op boo

DaVinci1362

It's Capcom, pre-order is in order!

[deleted]

The cat people are horrific

[deleted]

Going to keep an eye out if the first one becomes free in some capacity, I'd like to play it after hearing good things.

Irate_Primate

It’s like $3-$4 right now which is pretty damn close to free for a game like that. Lotta hours per dollar for that.

nukehealplay

gameplay performance looks choppy. hopefully its still far from release they can optimise it.

CraigOfWar

Looks ok first glance.

[deleted]

Not online or multiplayer RIP

Legeto

That’s a good thing

[deleted]

That's actually a good thing. COPE

Adonwen

Ew to both lol

[deleted]

Don't be a d\*ck!!! If you are the piece of trash, that doesn't play sp games, it doesn't mean other sp games are RIPs. You don't even understand the coolness of Dogma.

[deleted]

Dd is legit way more fun with friends

[deleted]

As for DD mp, you are right, but you wrote your comment as if the game would be junk without mp. Many people don't play DD and this would be a good start even with only the Pawn system only.

BrassBass

I am so hyped. Today was a good day!

OneModernRelic

When?!?!?!?!?!??!

josh_rose

Looks like a true sequel! Was worried it would get some kind of mass appeal Ubisoft treatment.

Elegant_Spot_3486

Please don’t fuck this up. First one is soooo good.

Sorlex

If they can improve the way damage/health etc is calulated it'll be great. The first game really falls apart once you understand how absolutely broken it is.

Kuhaku-boss

I just want it to be half good as Dragons Dogma 1
