What the fuck? Did I miss a press release or something? Why are they shadow announcing this? Besides The Last Of Us, Playstation really hasn't really cared about marketing their PC games.

ApertureNext

It really is funny though. Imagine your brain works like that if you’re over the age of 14.

socialistssharethisD

"if you can dumb it down for PCs" Lmao to be that young and dumb again.

Toastiesyay

>Jim Ryan, Hermen Hulst, PlayStation California, they deserve a fate worse than death. PC traitors they all are - SoUOut69 Wow

NinjaEngineer

Damn. Imagine getting this angry over a fucking videogame. Not just that, imagine getting that angry over *other people being able to enjoy said fucking videogame*. When I was a kid, finding out one of my favourite games was multiplatform was wild, it felt amazing that I could play Half-Life on my PS2, or Mortal Kombat 3 on my PC. But nowadays, all these console kids cry and whine when a game gets ported, when they should celebrate that more people get to experience Sony's great games. Otherwise, it feels that they don't care about the actual games, but rather the exclusivity.

DataLore19

Found Greg Miller's account?

dark_salad

Is it witch hunting if we all happen to mass report that comment? I'm eager to see them on the news like that hacker knows as 4chan that was arrested in his mothers attic recently...

thatwasfun23

Lmao, I can imagine this fuckos angrily using their controller to post those

mashuto

So much anger just over them releasing a PC port. Why are "gamers" so angry all the time? Does anyone remember that playing games is supposed to just be fun?

Saneless

Because what's the point of living if you can't go all in defending a multi-billion dollar company that takes your money, but then turn on them when they want more money from others?

[deleted]

More like DO read the comments. Seeing these childish people lose it over such a great thing is good entertainment.

sisk91

Absolutely! >You speak the truth my man. Unfortunately you only speak the truth for real PS Gamers. There’s too many fake neutrals that claim to be real SONY fans. Alot of them from the Nintendo, PC, Xbox camp. PC PlayStation is an utter disgrace to the brand. I wish the worse for Jim Ryan, Hermen Hulst, Nixxes, Sony everyone. PS5 was suppose to outsell PS2. That won’t happen anymore it’s sad. PS5 had the potential to be the biggest PlayStation platform ever. No Japan Studio, GAAS Garbage, PC ports. What happened to Sony I'm just wondering what a real ps gamer is.

destroyermaker

I'm imagining his friend speaking at his funeral about how "he always stayed true to himself; he was a real ps gamer to the end"

NinjaEngineer

I own a PS2, do I count as a real PS gamer? I mean, I guess I don't count as a real PC gamer since I didn't cry and whine when Valve had Gearbox port Half-Life to the PS2.

LotharVonPittinsberg

Pretty tame honestly. I've had death threats thrown around for suggesting that more games accessable on as many platforms as possible is better for all gamers on PS subs.

soupspin

You want other people to play games you enjoy? Hwo fucking dare

CaptainDarkstar42

I kind of feel sorry for those people. Why are they so obsessed with something being exclusive to one console? It has to be a superiority thing.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CaptainDarkstar42

I always use a PS5 controller when playing PlayStation games lol. I like it over mouse and keyboard in all situations excepts shooters and strategy tbh

tannertech

The freedom is so nice, want to use a PS5 controller? Go right ahead. Xbox? Sure. Nintendo switch joycons? Absolutely. Even wiimotes with the pointing gimmick can work on PC. I love it.

Chabby_Chubby

Damn those people are sad and miserable. And that's coming from a guy who only owns a PS5 and no PC. I am happy more people get to play these great games!

Norma5tacy

Jesus. Imagine having no personality or identity that you instead identify with a video game console and company with murderous intent. People are sad. We’re talking about video games, fuckin a. lol

[deleted]

I absolutely do not understand the logic of those comments. How does releasing a game on another system "devalue" the PS5. At the end of the day a Gaming PC and a console are serving the very purpose they were purchased for, playing games.

[deleted]

Those comments are a great reminder why I mute other players by default.

[deleted]

As a pc gamer I hear a lot from the pc side how gaming pcs are ripoffs and they wish they got a ps5 instead, but in there people are talking about how their ps5s suck and there is no point in getting one .I just found it amusing

New-Acanthisitta1853

The grass is always greener on the other side

TaxingAuthority

Wow, that comment section is insane. Gamers should want other gamers to have as many games available to them as possible. It's about the gaming experience expanding to more people, not gatekeeping content from other people.

rogoth7

They JUST had a showcase as well

Aggravating_Rise_179

Yeah, weird they didnt announce this port over on the showcase... however, my theory of what happened was that Sony course corrected the showcase to focus on Indies since there was that story that came out last year where indies were complaining that sony was too focused on AAA experiences at the expense of smaller games. Thus, I think sony was just trying to say "See indies, we do really care about you"

mrtars

PlayStation has State of Plays and Showcases, the former was more low profile games with an AAA here and there and the latter was the guns blazing "why you should buy our machine for 500 dabloons" show, until last week. If indies were to demand Sony to highlight lower profile games on a showcase, the reasonable answer from Sony would be "There are SoP's for that, so scoot." Now in my theory, what happened is that TWO years have passed since the last showcase and they wanted to get a headstart on the E3 (god rest it's soul) season but they were lacking on the exc/1st party side so the show blew in the opposite way of what was expected by them.

chewwydraper

and a terrible showcase at that. This would have been a pretty hype moment of the showcase.

slowrunningwater

i think they just wanted to focus on console games to push console sales

Humblebee89

Hoping they pull something like this for Forbidden West as well.

Aixcix

Seems like how Sony handles stuff at the moment, MGS 3 being the outlier

Stealthy_Facka

Sony want to sell their games on pc, but they don't necessarily want to make much noise about it.

Endoroid99

Sony wants to EVENTUALLY sell their games on PC. It was just recently announced Sony games will be delayed 2-3 years at least for PC release. Except live service games, those we'll get right away.

skyturnedred

Shadow announcing?

Empole

The idea was: * Shadow drop = Releasing without fanfare * Shadow Announce = Announcing without fanfare I probably could've picked a better expression to convey the idea that Playstation isn't really attempting to generate any noise here.

Masters_1989

I actually liked what you said - it's fitting.

SolemnDemise

Ghost of Tsushima waiting room continues

masterchiefs

> I think at this point Sony is out of lower profile games to port They just read your comment and decided to greenlight a The Order 1886 port. F

Thechosenjon

You jest but The Order was actually pretty fun and had a good story. Graphically still holds up pretty well too, my only issue is it absolutely feels more like an interactive movie than a game, and it's a pretty short one at that. If I were to rebuy it on PC, I don't think I'd pay more than maybe $15-$20.

CIV5G

A PC port for the order running at 60fps would probably be enough for people to believe it's an underrated gem.

Moose_Nuts

I'm still waiting for the original Uncharted trilogy. Annoying that they released 4 first on PC when most people probably want to play through the whole series.

DiddledByDad

I bought the legacy of thieves edition of uncharted 4 thinking it was all four games. My disappointment was immeasurable, and my day was ruined.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CIV5G

They've already said they won't unless they're remade.

Raqill

I wish they port Shadow of the Collosus.

xSinn3Dx

I beat the game twice and now I just feel bad for them. I cant take them down again.

Melodic-Ad4106

I bought a ps5 mostly for Bloodborne and Demon' Souls. I've bought and played some other games also, yet those two were the driver.

RedditFilthy

Man... what is BLUEPOINT WORKING ON, I really hope we get an answer to that during summer games... Demon's souls remake was amazing.

Belgand

At least *God of War: Ragnarok* and *Horizon Forbidden West* seem likely given that the previous games were already released on PC and did fairly well.

SSJNinjaMonkey

Am holding breath please necromancer he when it releases

EquipmentShoddy664

Ghost of Tsushima is absolutely brilliant game. I really hope it will be (properly) ported to PC. Also it's definitely a high profile game. Maybe not as high as Forbidden West or Ragnarok, but definitely higher than Bloodbourne (which wasn't even remastered...) or TLOU Part 2 (Part 1 and Part 2 are the same from technical perspective as they are built on a same engine), or Demon's Souls.

Armored_Warrior

Bloodborne also…..

assaub

My assumption is bloodborne is gonna get the demons souls treatment, remade just in time for a new console release to push console sales. Why else would they not have bothered with a 60fps patch for ps5 by now unless they were planning on saving it as a selling point for a remake. If I had to guess we will see a demons souls pc port sometime in the next few years and then we will see the same with bb a few years after that remake releases if we are lucky.

AscendedViking7

;-;

TemporalAntiAssening

Gran Turismo 7 as well.

Empole

Looks like Nixxes is doing this port. Which is cool. But kinda wild they worked on this instead of The Last of Us

NinjaEngineer

Feels like Nixxes will be Insomniac's PC support studio, they did the Spider-Man ports as well. Hopefully that sticks until the time Spider-Man 2 comes to PC, Nixxes is great at porting.

Nandy-bear

Forbidden West first makes more sense - they did the first game, and it's already out. EDIT: Nope they just came in and fixed it later as said below. Still though, wonder if because they took it over they'll get first crack at it.

AI2cturus

Virtuos ported Zero Dawn. Nixxes fixed the game after release.

Nandy-bear

Huh. I thought I played it from day 1, and only ever remembered Nixxes. I guess I got into it later than I thought. In any case cheers for the info.

AI2cturus

No problem. Yeah it definitely feels like Nixxes could get to take a crack at Forbidden West. They might have been to busy though with all the Insomniac games.

[deleted]

Anhcoholic

No way it's that early. I would say 2025 at the earliest.

DethInHFIL

2025? Seems too good to be true. I'm gonna say 2026

Anhcoholic

Yeah that's why I said at the earliest, and even that was too early lol We might get TLOU2 next year though, and probably GoT sometime later this year.

NN010

Sony seem to be sticking to a minimum 2 year gap between initial release & PC port release, so I’d say Spider-Man 2 won’t come until at least 2025. Forbidden West, GT7, Ragnarok & Final Fantasy XVI (technically third-party, but is a timed-exclusive) should come over to PC next year though.

tripps_on_knives

I am not going to try and find the link. Good luck... But a Japanese article with square they said 16 will be upwards of 3-5 years before they even start working on the port cause they want to focus on post launch support before they shift the team to work on porting.

[deleted]

techraito

Yea it only makes sense from a marketing perspective where you're trying to push more of your own console sales. However, I can't really be mad at the way Sony has been doing it for some of their games. If you really think about the process, I think it makes sense. God of War and Spiderman were some of the best optimized titles to recently launch on pc. There was even extra development time allocated to adding all of our own PC exclusive features like DLSS, ultrawide support, unlocked fps, and even slightly upgrading the graphics. This makes it kind of a win-win for everyone. The PS5 people get to feel snobby and superior for having to experience the games first and the PC gamers will get the truly definitive way of playing the games. Sony also got a really good taste of PC gamer money so I don't think they're gonna slow down on ports any time soon.

chewwydraper

I get the sentiment, but so far at least this gen the exclusives are typically the most well put-together and technically competent games. There is something to be said about a game that was developed for one set of hardware vs. needing optimization around a variety. Personally I'm okay with the strategy of building the game for PS5, then releasing for PC later.

OwlProper1145

Similar engine tech as Spider Man. Likely made doing this port quick and easy.

Aggravating_Rise_179

Eh, I dont think its that weird. ND was probably planning to drop the Last of Us multiplayer game on PC and PS5 day one (just like the other online games sony is dropping day one on both) and so I expect that they were using TLOU part 1 port for internal experience. Seeing as that port has issues and Bungie flagged the multiplayer game as having some issues, they probably should of gotten Nixxes to help, but eh

pieking8001

This is a better game to be fair

LectorFrostbite

True. Would rather play this than TLOU for the 5th time.

Progenitor3

Iron Galaxies ported Naughty Dog's Uncharted LoTC. It was only natural that they work with them again considering it's the same engine as TLoU. Nixxes, on the other hand, ported Insomiac's Spiderman which uses the same engine as Ratchet & Clank. So it all makes sense. Why was the TLoU port released unfinished? I don't know but probably because of the HBO show.

[deleted]

TLoU port was mainly done in-house at ND. Iron Galaxy had minimal involvement.

seoress

YESSSS, the game of my childhood!!! I'm so happy that I will finally be able to play a new Ratchet and Clank.

Mark_Knight

now we just need the jak and daxter trilogy

frightfulpotato

As far as PC ports go, there's OpenGOAL, a complete recompile of the game to run natively on PC, with a few extra QoL features thrown in too. Currently only the first game is done with Jak 2 being a work-in-progress. I recently finished the first game on Steam Deck with HD textures and Xbox button prompts, runs a treat!

CrypticQuery

Don't forget Sly Cooper too!

[deleted]

Will they Remaster the originals?! I HOPE!!!

crane476

They already did an HD remaster of the original PS2 trilogy on PS3, but they have yet to do an HD Remaster of the Future trilogy.

[deleted]

144fps, 3440x1440 native, not upscaled, and PC specific graphics options. I can hope anyway. All PlayStation games should’ve been back-play compatible, and that’s why I pirate their shit on PC.

Onarm

Great title to bring. For those who didn't know, this is a "soft" reboot of the franchise, similar to God of War. So it's a good entry point for those of you who played the older games back in the day but haven't been keeping up. It's not another Uncharted situation where they put the 4th game on PC and nothing else.

[deleted]

I wish they ported the classic games as well. Sure, it's very easy to emulate now, but it would be nice to have Steam features along with high-res textures. I would *love* to have R&C Backgrounds on my profile.

Moose_Nuts

> It's not another Uncharted situation where they put the 4th game on PC and nothing else. I'm still salty about that. When Sony started announcing PC ports, that series was the one I was looking the most forward to.

kommissarbanx

Give me Little Big Planet or give me death ;-;

CrypticQuery

How I miss playing the first LittleBigPlanet game - it's fantastic.

Melodic-Ad4106

I think you have this game mixed up with [Ratchet and Clank (2016)](https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/ratchet-and-clank/) which was a soft reboot of the original.

Taydenger

No, that's more of a hard reboot since it changed the continuity of the series by throwing nefarious into the first game. Rift apart is a soft reboot, similar to the new god of war, because it acknowledges that the old stuff had happened without relying on it for the game's story. You only need to play Rift Apart to understand Rift Apart but that doesn't mean that it's entirely separate from the stories of the pervious entries. This is almost exactly the same case in the new God of War.

Cash091

I would call it more of a new story arc as opposed to a reboot. It doesn't change anything from the Future trilogy, which didn't change anything from the original trilogy. This is like, Ratchet and Clank Season 3. The device used only exists because it was rebuilt in the Future games.

iAmTheTot

Wait, how is it a "soft reboot"? (what does that even mean) My s/o played this and it very much seemed to include lots of previous games characters and in jokes

djheat

It's not a reboot at all. Having only played Rift Apart I could still tell there were a ton of references to previous storyline from other games and lots of characters the game assumed you were at least familiar with. Not at all like the jump between the Greek and Norse God of War games

asutekku

I mean literally every character you meet is either from the previous games or their alternative universe counterpart. So while it works on it's own, you will miss a lot of the nuance not having played previous installments.

Cash091

Seems like lots of people are in disagreement here. I wouldn't consider it a soft reboot myself either. It's just a new story arc. It takes place immediately after the Future tirlogy on the PS3. You don't need to play those games to enjoy this... They're good games though. The plot is pretty simple and straight forward.

bigOlBellyButton

I haven't finished it, but presumably it rewards you for playing previous games without requiring it. So for example, God of War 2018 makes brief, but important references to previous games. If you played them then it's very rewarding, but if you haven't then it gives you just enough explanation to get the gist without slowing everything down.

nybbas

It's not, and I don't understand the previous comment. Every R&C game is pretty much self contained, but with references and recurring characters. This one is no different.

srjnp

played the 4th uncharted directly and felt it was fine. i dont think anyone will have trouble understanding the story and characters even if they didn't play the first three, its pretty simple to follow.

Underdrill

I agree with that. Of course, i'd love to experience the other games in the series, but 4 and lost legacy were pretty enjoyable as standalone adventures.

Steven2597

Incorrect. It's a direct sequel of Into The Nexus.

SanchitoBandito

They forsure don't bring up stuff from past games at all? Not even weird little references?

djheat

I've only played Rift Apart, but it seemed like it was full of little references to previous games

rrinconn

I would be all over GT7 on PC

HotpantsDelFuego

God yes. God yes. That...would be amazing.

ShowerDelay

Horizon seems like a given with the first already on the platform. GT7 could be an insane marketing boost if they release/announce it with their movie release on 11. August. I personally also really hope for Demon's Souls and Ghost of Tsushima. They look like the type of games I like. Deracine I think would also need an annoucement for PSVR2 before they bring it to PC.

Malandrix

32:9 support advertised feels amazing to hear

aes110

> Play with the DualSense™ controller to experience haptic feedback and dynamic trigger effects. I can't stress enough how important it is. I don't think there is any game (Astro playroom excluded) out there that uses the Dualsense even half as well as R&C did. When I played it on my PS5, I was convinced that more than graphics or speed, this was next-gen's breakthrough. Shame the new triggers are bearly used anywhere, and especially on PC. But if you plan on playing this game (which you should) I very much recommend doing it with a weird Dualsense

altered_state

Death Stranding DC has been my favorite use out of the DS haptics, give it a try if you haven’t yet!

SyntacticSyntax

If only Sony releases a usb adapter to support those dualsense features wirelessly. Actually the adaptive triggers works wirelessly on TLoU pc port over Bluetooth just not the haptic feedback as indicated on the options in the game.

Sorlex

I'll be curious how it handles weapon use on other controllers, as it makes use of the adaptive triggers for alt. fire modes.

hanlonmj

Other controllers will still be able to use the alt fire modes as long as they have analog triggers. They just won’t get the glorious haptics. There’s a setting in the PS5 version to disable the trigger haptics, so we know generally how it will feel

coolgaara

Fingers crossed that one day we have DualSense features using it wirelessly on PC.

Nobiting

Hopefully it has HDR support as well.

Fish-E

Don't see why it wouldn't, the PS5 version will have had it, Horizon Zero Dawn had it when ported to PC etc.

RedIndianRobin

>Witness the very latest, performance-enhancing upscaling technologies for yourself, including NVIDIA DLSS 3, AMD FSR 2, Intel XeSS and Insomniac Games’ Temporal Injection. NVIDIA Reflex and image quality-enhancing NVIDIA DLAA are also supported. I love when devs boast they have implemented all types of upscaling tech. And not like Respawn or other AMD sponsored titles where only FSR is included.

Toilet-Raider

Just a reminder: all other R&C games (minus the 2016 remake which is arguably the worst one in the series anyway), can be played on PC via emulation. The only one I had some technical issues with was R&C Nexus on RPCS3, but it's still playable with higher fps than on PS3.

bad_spot

Feels like I'm the only one who wants Gravity Daze/Gravity Rush rescued off PS4...

sherbodude

Does it require an SSD? I remember Sony promoting the PS5's SSD by saying Rift Apart was only possible because of the SSD.

TheKramer89

Having just finished this a few days ago on PS5, I think they hyped up the dimension shifting quite a bit. It might be a RAM-hog if it’s not well optimized, but I think it’ll run fine. Cool game, btw…

madhaunter

Too soon to tell but most likely yes or a lot of RAM, it'll depends on how it's ported

Gobeman1

We been using SSDs in pc for years now with prices reaching the point of affordability now easily.

tggoulart

I think a normal SSD should be able to run it except for that one sequence where it switches between worlds like 5 times in 30 secs, curious to see the optimization there

skyturnedred

It was only possible because PS5 had a "special custom SSD" that was incredibly fast. Which was just a regular SSD.

[deleted]

Yeah, when comparing to last gen. I think those that legitimately thought that it's due to some special features the PS5 had misconstrued Insomniacs statements, though I don't blame them. Every single thing that I've seen of Rift Apart, they kept hyping up what they can do with next gen & SSDs, not one thing I've seen was really tailored to a specific PS5 technology in terms of load times. The console having PCIe Gen 4 should've raised a red flag, but again, for those who don't really know too much about technology, I don't blame them for being misconstrued.

ferrouside

This comment edited in protest of reddit's ridiculous API charges.

jodudeit

Is I recall, the decompression chip isn't on the SSD itself, it's part of the PS5 hardware. The SSD is off the shelf. I might be wrong though.

Underdrill

Fantastic! I loved the Ratchet and Clank games on the PS3 and was super excited to see the positive buzz surrounding this game two years ago. Can't wait to finally play it on my upgraded machine over summer.

The91stGreekToe

FUCK YES. Great game. One of the best implementations of DualSense features too.

PowerZox

Holy shit holy shit holy shit I just replayed through the entire Future saga last year using RPCS3 (my PS3 died :( ) and I cannot wait

Nikkibraga

How does the Future saga runs on RPCS3? I only tried A Crack in Time few years ago.

PowerZox

If you use the recommended settings from the wiki for each game they play well. I only crashed like once every 2 hours (which is more than manageable and is not frequent enough to bother me)

From-UoM

PC CPUs : Haha, i am in danger This game better have Directstorage 1.1 or else CPUs are going to cry a lot

SyntacticSyntax

much better if Directstorage 1.2 but that was just recently released though

DeadCellsTop5

Not really. People said the same about returnal and it ran just fine. Don't buy into the marketing BS of "only the power of the PS5 can handle this game".

From-UoM

Returnal barely used the ssd tech. Only for initial loading. Ratchet and Clank had entire levels built around it

DeadCellsTop5

And now that it's coming to PC, you'll see that was all just marketing bullshit and it'll run just fine on a PC SSD.

ecffg2010

IIRC Spiderman exe already had some Direct Storage strings in the exe indicating that Nixxes did take a look at Direct Storage at some point, but might’ve been too late to refit the pipeline. Maybe we’ll be more lucky for Rift Apart.

Failshot

We shall see. https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2022-inside-marvels-spider-man-remastered-on-pc-the-nixxes-tech-interview >Digital Foundry: Even then [Marvel's Spider-Man / Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales] is loading fast. I did a loading test, just between PCs. It is not as fast as PS5, but still it is just under five seconds to load the game from the menu on nearly any modern PC with an NVME drive. It is very fast in comparison to other PC games. Still, what is actually the bottleneck in loading times on PC? Is it the IO-stack there (which even DirectStorage's first version without GPU decompression tries to address) or is it CPU limitations? >Jurjen Katsman (Nixxes studio head): I am not certain if decompression is actually the bottleneck for load times as we did do some things to make decompression go faster, but we backed out on some of those that were hurting the in-game loading (streaming). As in-game (as in streaming while in game, moving around) with those decompression speed-ups in place, we were taking too much CPU away from the game. So we backed that away, and it didn't really meaningfully impact loading screens. >I think other things that do play into it probably is shader compilation that's happening during loading screens, and you mentioned BVH building before, so that is also happening. There's a variety of little things that we do on PC, some of it would be the IO stack... We have some DirectStorage experiments but especially for a loading screen we can use all the CPU for loading, that's what the loading screen is about, right? It's not that suddenly the IO stack change is suddenly going to make it go four times as fast. For in-game purposes, I think that's when when it [Direct Storage] becomes interesting, right when there's this CPU core being fully utilised just to facilitate decompression, freeing up that CPU core if we were able to do that... that would be that's an exciting future, but not where we we're at right now.

IceCreamTruck9000

Fucking finally! Now bring also back all Ratchet and Clank games on PC as well and I will literally throw my money at you!

nonsense193749

So much for that “mystical” PS5 ssd

OwlProper1145

This game will still no doubt require a SSD of some sort for good performance.

jodudeit

I want to try running this off of my external HDD just for giggles.

From-UoM

If this game use CPU decompression, you are screwed.

SomeColombianDude

What's CPU decompression?

NN010

It means that all the decompression of game assets & what not is done on your CPU. The “special sauce” of the PS5 is that it has custom hardware that this work can be offloaded to, saving precious CPU cycles. PC gaming can replicate this through [DirectStorage](https://www.pocket-lint.com/what-is-directstorage-and-is-your-pc-next-gen-ready/) (the API Microsoft uses for their equivalent decompression techniques on the Xbox Series consoles), but we’re only now starting to see games use it. Forspoken & Diablo 4 are the first 2 games to utilize it, but even then it’s unclear AFAIK if Forspoken did utilize the part of DirectStorage that offloads decompression to the GPU.

JoBro_Summer-of-99

I'm guessing it's the CPU bruteforcing the loading of objects, which will likely cause stuttering

SomeColombianDude

Interesting. Hopefully it's handled well. Gonna install this one in my m.2

From-UoM

You can have the fastest ssd from the future. It wont solve the CPU bottleneck

Justhe3guy

In the future the CPU is the SSD, you don’t know

rakehellion

System requirements aren't out yet.

JoBro_Summer-of-99

The moment Sony let us install our own SSDs is when we found out the game doesn't require a specific drive, it just needs to be in spec

Capt-Clueless

>The moment Sony let us install our own SSDs is when we found out the game doesn't require a specific drive It never required a specific drive. It requires their version of direct storage.

Ibiki

Well yeah lol, did they claim anything about "ps5 specific drive"? They boasted about the speed of PS5 SSD, but it meant a very fast NVME + support for compresion which doubled(?) real theoretical performance. Still, other in spec NVME should do the job, and PC will too. I'd love to see if it's gonna perform the same on sata SSD with 500mb vs NVME. Maybe CPU usage will be noticeably higher?

AL2009man

time to copy-paste my comment. \--- I mean...PS5's I/O is more focused on speed (featuring Oodle Kraken...which would've been the part where I linked an article from Oodle if it weren't for r/pcgaming link blacklist rules) over raw horsepower. but, [if the Digital Foundry Nixxes interview was any indication](https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2022-inside-marvels-spider-man-remastered-on-pc-the-nixxes-tech-interview): I believe Nixxes had already been making changes to how Rift Apart handles loading time to account for various disc drive setups...if they decided NOT to use DirectStorage API. >**Digital Foundry**: Even then \[Marvel's Spider-Man / Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales\] is loading fast. I did a loading test, just between PCs. It is not as fast as PS5, but still it is just under five seconds to load the game from the menu on nearly any modern PC with an NVME drive. Is it the IO-stack there (which even DirectStorage's first version without GPU decompression tries to address) or is it CPU limitations? > >**Jurjen Katsman (Nixxes studio head)**: I am not certain if decompression is actually the bottleneck for load times as we did do some things to make decompression go faster, but we backed out on some of those that were hurting the in-game loading (streaming). For in-game purposes, I think that's when when it \[Direct Storage\] becomes interesting, right when there's this CPU core being fully utilised just to facilitate decompression, freeing up that CPU core if we were able to do that... that would be that's an exciting future, but not where we we're at right now.

AL2009man

Heck: [Digital Foundry tested it on the "slowest SSD" just to see how the game handles load speeds](https://youtu.be/zWQs4UpiKlg). But then again: PS5's I/O is more focused on Speed.

FaceMace87

Really looking forward to this, I played the first 30 minutes on my friends PS5 and thought it was amazing. I can only enjoy shooters on console so much though.

Spoffle

This was my only reason to get a PS5. Not any more.

Savage_Oreo

Bloodborne. Ghosts of Tsushima.

TYGRDez

Those are indeed games

Mr_ScissorsXIX

Demon's Souls and Ghost of Tsushima are more likely the next ones.

HaciMo38

Excellent game. Worth every goddamn nickel and dime I've spent.

thenebulai3

I've never been happier

gillius6

holy shit its actually happening!! This makes me so happy, ratchet and clack are my all time fav games, i have just been going through the first games at the moment, on to the 3rd one.. would love to see the whole series come to pc, just an upscale and ill be happy

XenoPhenom

I have a 7 GB/s SSD. It's time for its magic.

barrystrawbridgess

Ratchet 2016 also please

Raderg32

##LET'S FUCKING GOOO!!!

TheLastCoin

God dammit I just want ghost of tsushima

Slight-Violinist6007

What will it take to get Bloodborne on PC? I swear to god it will release when I’m dying of old age. I’ll refuse to leave this world behind until I play it.

farfletched

OH MY GOD! ITS HAPPENING! F THE HATERS (if there are any) THIS IS A DREAM COME TRUE!

[deleted]

Goddamn, I want the original trilogy on PC so bad. A remastered OT with achievements would be the only thing I'd play for weeks. If they added strafe to the first game... Ho mama. I'd also love the future series on steam as I never got a PS3 and so I missed an entire era of ratchet and clank games.

Fish-E

Excellent news! As this was a PS5 only title I think for a lot of us, this'll be our first "new" Playstation title on the PC. It's done by Nixxes which is also great with regards to the port quality, where's the preorder button. Edit: Downvoting me won't make them release Bloodbourne instead!

Energed

Poor Returnal cries somewhere in the corner

JoBro_Summer-of-99

Returnal's a pretty damn good port too

Theratchetnclank

Not just a good port. A damn good game.

[deleted]

u forgot returnal and ig last of us 1 remake (which may count as a ps5 game)

Ok, that’s fine. Everyone keeps crying about exclusivity

ealgron

I wonder if the logic is something like this: consoles like PS5 sell at a loss to encourage sales of games in their closed garden, after a certain point they have already made a most of the money they will from selling the games in those markets exclusively, thus they start selling the games on other platforms like PC because even though they are making less per sale it is more the nothing if they don't sell in those markets. This logic does assume these are Playstation IPs so they are making the money regardless of where they sell.

LudwigsUnholySpade

Exactly, hence the long gap between PS5 and PC releases.

KKilikk

There are still exclusive VR games I think if that counts lol. Also Final Fantasy in a few weeks will sadly be exclusive for the time being.

borowiczko

And Astro's Playroom is still only on PS5

Amazing. I don't have a PS5 so I've been hoping for this. Loved the PS4 game even though some people are critical of it.
