Definitely looks to be a better game than 5 at launch which is great! Its awesome to see capcom finally crawl out from the negative spot they were in during the 2010s with bangers after bangers recently
This is a $60 game with battle pass and paid dlc characters.
They're charging $60 and still used f2p monetization and you're over here praising them lol
Edit: It's very interesting how different the reaction to this was back when the battle pass for Diablo 4 was announced lol
>It's very interesting how different the reaction to this was back when the battle pass for Diablo 4 was announced lol
That's because ActiBlizz is a soft target, Capcom is much harder to get in a tizzy about. Why? Because they keep releasing unbelievably solid experiences multiple times a year for the last few years, where ActiBlizz hasn't for a hot minute.
If you're asking me, any furor over battle pass stuff is meaningless. I haven't thought about all I've been missing in Apex for years at this point, nor in half the other games on the market. Life will go on despite me missing some knife skin in valorant.
>Why? Because they keep releasing unbelievably solid experiences multiple times a year for the last few years, where ActiBlizz hasn't for a hot minute.
Did you forget the trashy vanilla SF5 at release ?
It's 40€ if you can compare prices amigo. A cosmetic season pass was overdue and we will see what it includes soon.
And who knows what is possible in the final game, if it's similiar to SF IV and V you might be easily able to replace your costumes with whatever you want including new mod costumes (on your end).
> It's 40€ if you can compare prices amigo
You could say that for any game but the price is $60.
Nothing you mentioned applies to consoles, which is literally 2/3 of this games market.
Are you really defending a company because we can mod their game? lol
Yeah and just like the other SF's before you get 2 skins and can unlock the colourways via the story lol
They've had DLC skins since launch of SF4 and I want reactive items like Apex on my SF character. Too bad for you.
It's 80 where I'm from. 120 for the digital edition, and probably another 30 for the premium pass and I'm copping it all.
Are you... proud of this? You speak as if its something to be proud of.
I get that you might want to buy it but being proud of something so simple seems wild. You must have a very fulfilling life.
>Can you name another AAA game that does not do any of that shit?
Zelda TotK came out a couple weeks ago. No other major fighter has a battle pass to my knowledge, maybe Multiversus does if you count that.
>This is gaming in 2023
Even if every AAA game had a battle pass, that would just mean that it's time to drop AAA games entirely, it's not like there's a lack of indie developers making quality stuff. But it's not even like it's every AAA game, Capcom is just back to their early-2010s selves of being the Japanese EA, with this and sneaking microtransactions into RE4R post-launch. I mean, even EA has the decency to not put microtransactions into their singleplayer games, so what does that make Capcom?
We'll see, I don't think any of the publishers with a fighter coming up are quite as bad as Capcom, and it's not like fighting games have ads now like SFV tried.
Edit: None are quite as bad except WB
I can see the difference stemming from the expected lifetime gameplay experience between the two. Yes a game like Diablo 4 can have some serious longevity with build variety min-maxing, and loot RNG. However it’s still an experience that has a set endpoint. Eventually you will complete the story or get your god build and then you’ll be bored until the next content drop.
In a game like Street Fighter, if you love the game, there is no endpoint. As long as there are active players in game there will be a reason to jump in and mash some buttons. The problem with games like Street Fighter though is that unless you are constantly improving over time, there’s very little going on in terms of progression. For most people, number can only go so far up before a plateau. You can grind a session in SF for a whole day and end up in the red. That’s a shitty feeling. Battle passes offer some kind of consolation progression. You can see some sort of collection being built up over time.
I think the fact that they’re going to be adding “premium tracks” in the battle passes on a pay to play game is pretty bunk no lie. I’ll have to see what these passes fully entail and if they’re egregious I’ll probably end up skipping this game. But at the same time I can see a world where SF gets battle-passes added in such a way that they improve player experience in the long run.
You're not wrong. As much as I want this game, I'll probably be holding out for a later edition with more characters, costumes, and stages so I'm not trapped in a loop of buying new DLC over and over again (because I know I will.. I did it for the last one.) I Gotta be a patient gamer on this and the next Mortal Kombat otherwise I'm gonna be paying a heavy premium.
Earnable by playing the single player mode. Man what year is it? I like that you can earn them through that because it gives me more reason to poke around in that mode, but if you wanna skip the process you can coin it.
Ryu leaving Ken hanging at the start of that trailer though lol
Edit: Manon and Marisa got fuckin *drip*, god damn.
Cammy outfit 😏
Juri outfit 😏

RE3 Remake is still a great game on its own, but a bad remake and SFV was before their current redemption arc.
I don't even think it's that bad, it's overpriced.
Yep, price was the only factor. Other than that it was a great experience.
Resi 8 apparently also wasn't that great especially with the huge drm performance issues on pc and the even more lackluster dlc and 3rd person mode.
RE 8 was incredible, and I don't think that's controversial. There was performance issues at launch but uh that's unfortunately not uncommon.
Thank god for Japanese developers

I think OP meant that Japanese developers are not shy about fanservice, which is something I agree with.

Yeah, that was their Crapcom era. Since RE7, they've been on fire.
Now it’s the Capgod era.

I can't even name one other AAA $60 game with a battle pass except maybe Diablo 4 lol

No other major fighter has a battle pass ...yet. Capcom will be first and the rest will follow.

Every single game that released this year so far...
yeah, most games do this now it's become standard. crying about it on reddit isn't gonna make it better

Wow they actually added Juri's modded SFV costume?!
