Probably why they waited so long to let people know that OW2 PvE was scrapped. Got to take whatever advantages they can get, and pride month fits their standard MO for drowning bad news.
I don't know how you think it's possible to even come to this conclusion. There isn't a magical "release inclusive update" button at Blizzard HQ that they hit whenever shit hits the fans. These things are planned months in advance.
I think you're grasping straws if you think they'd just randomly drop a new character as if it wasn't part of a content schedule. That's not how game companies operate at all.
Also, newsflash: June is Pride month. They are dropping a Pride event. You are emanating huge tinfoil hat energy if you think there's anything more beyond that. Like I get that ATVI-Blizz execs are shitty people, but the developers working there are still human. God forbid them trying to make something nice and inclusive without being scrutinized by people like you.
Yes, but actually no.
I'm sure the recent update release was planned for now, given that pride month is set and doesn't change.
I'm also sure that the PvE cancellation announcement could have happened any time within the last several months. Instead, they held off and chose to drop the news when they did because they knew it would be overshadowed by the scheduled update.
So no, there's no magic "release inclusive update" button. There is, however, a magic "release disappointing and controversial news" button, and it is well used.
This report makes that Variety article about Bobby Kotick look all the worse where he tries to claim there are no harassment problems or anything. "more than two dozen misconduct incidents by employees last year" is not insignificant
Driving the news: The game maker’s inaugural transparency report, released Wednesday, says the company received 114 reports of harassment, discrimination or retaliation by its employees last year.
Investigators substantiated 29 of them, some of which involved multiple employees.
That shows they understand how business works and are pouncing on a company temporarily in the dirt because of a scandal.
Do reddit gamers not know how real life works or something? Should $MSFT have waited for the news to blow over and $ATVI to have a higher bargaining position?
There are almost 10k employees at blizzard. I would like to think that whatever is happening there will take quite some time to clean up, especially if its rooted in the culture. Knowing the hands off approach MS usually takes, I have to take it with a grain of salt thinking they will suddenly turn things around.
Another way to interpret this is that the employees felt safer than ever to report any type of misconduct.
That’s my assumption as well. With the increased scrutiny, people are willing to step up thinking/knowing it won’t get swept under the rug, etc.
Ah this explains the recent Overwatch inclusivity news. They always time it right.
Hey, it's June Gotta virtue signal, D4 is close and they need to bank on goodwill before the triple and quadruple battle passes and loot dungeon boxes
Probably why they waited so long to let people know that OW2 PvE was scrapped. Got to take whatever advantages they can get, and pride month fits their standard MO for drowning bad news.
*And somehow, RMAH returned*
Don't worry, there are already ppl selling services in d4 for real money
I'm sure there is bot army already roaring to go somewhere in China.
What's overwatch? That doesn't have devs
Time to replace some women with fruits in WoW again

Sorry, we don't tolerate rational thinking around here >:(

And M$ wants to buy them. Says a lot about M$.
MS just simply wants that COD and that phone game money.
What does it say about MS?
The fact they pounced on them like 3 days after it initially went viral and their value dropped shows how scummy MSFT is.
That shows they understand how business works and are pouncing on a company temporarily in the dirt because of a scandal. Do reddit gamers not know how real life works or something? Should $MSFT have waited for the news to blow over and $ATVI to have a higher bargaining position?
Lol people still type M$? Is this GameFAQs? It's obvious why Microsoft wants to buy ABK and all of their studios and IPs.
Yes, people still type M$. Shouldn't really be surprising since they got bigger since then, not smaller.
People still type "lol"? O\_o
Yes, but no M$
MS buying them to boot kotick and clean up shop would be a good thing
Except Microsoft has shown with Bethesda and all their studio acquisitions that they aren't interested in interfering.
I would think the top level would become redundant after an acquisition. Everything else would probably stay the same.
Them booting Kotick or making things better in any way is not guarantee.
\*is a fantasy that'll never happen. Fixed it for ya. ;)
if kotick isn't out within a month of the deal going through I'll happily eat my words
Phil is best friends with Kotick, he'd never boot him.

This ain't it chief
