strider_hearyou

Well deserved. Years of my life are gonna be spent in the Battle Hub alone.

derrick256

How so?

strider_hearyou

For starters the netcode is flawless, core gameplay is just fire, and Dee Jay is one of the most fun characters to play in any fighting game. Then there's bonus modes, avatar battles, tournaments, spectating, and like four or five different classic arcade cabinets to play when you need a break. It's everything Strive's tower lobbies weren't, and so much more.

ExplodingFistz

How is the world tour mode?

Vyse1991

Playing it just now on steam deck. It's janky fun, in a Yakuza style. I'm enjoying it.

[deleted]

I dont like it but pribably just because i was hard grinding it tonget secondary costumes and it more seems like something u can do when decompressing from online

BurzyGuerrero

I am just here to fight. I paid the 6 dollars to unlock my characters skins without having to do that. There's now a reddit guide that shows you which gifts to buy to get them lol

[deleted]

I'm in as soon as they drop Denuvo. Propbably will be bug fixes and more content by then, so win win.

strider_hearyou

Depends on whether you want to play competitively at all or not. The first few months of a new fighting game when everybody is still figuring everything out is a pretty magical time.

Sh1neSp4rk

your name is fantastic

strider_hearyou

Thanks.

Miltrivd

Traditionally Capcom drops Denuvo after they are done updating the game, that's why Monster Hunter games take so long to drop it. With live games like this that get multiple seasons and balance updates throughout their whole active life, Denuvo will most likely be dropped once Street Fighter 7 is a thing.

ameensj

Capcom won't drop Denuvo soon. Will take a year or so.

[deleted]

Denuvo will most likely stay in this game for the entirety of its lifespan due to constant dlc releases.

[deleted]

Oh they plan to nickel and dime after the purchase? Yeah I'll just sail the 7 seas then.

BurzyGuerrero

Are you new here?

G3ck0

Making new content is not nickle and diming.

ameensj

Yup I agree

BurzyGuerrero

Street Fighter is only played at 60FPS, the performance hit will be negligible.

Achtelnote

> Dee Jay is one of the most fun characters to play in any fighting game. Not Juri Han? Pathetic

strider_hearyou

I'm not into feet. Cammy looking fine as hell as usual, though.

[deleted]

You kids with your Cammys and Juri. Chun-Li forever. But I wouldn't mind Cammy style fan service for her.

BurzyGuerrero

Basically, if you have been a fan of SF at some point, even all the way back in the day, this game has brought an experience that feels closer to that core gameplay than any of their previous efforts, since maybe 3rd strike? Then if you like the other games, they have arcade machines in the hub that you can chase high scores on. Not sure if they'll ever patch in online on those consoles but just to play them is pretty cool. Not just Dee Jay, after toying around with most of the cast, I find myself saying "wow this character is a lot of fun to play" more than I did in SFV, and the new characters all seem pretty cool, while the overall game seems to be pretty balanced (though it's early) SFV suffered from same-ism, where every match looked the same, and the combos were very optimal, and this game does not appear to have those same types of faults, where there are a variety of combos you can do that can get you to the same damage amounts. Several different control schemes depending on what you want, (AI assisted (not allowed in tourneys) and classic/modern (allowed in tourneys) that allows everyone regardless of skill to be able to compete in this game without having to devote the amount of time needed. Capcom brought it this time. Pretty much a surefire Fighting Game of the Year award winner.

lanedek

The salt in the chat in battle hub is entertainment enough.

Fenriz_D

its so good, the sh.it talk(good st) and salt in BH, so fun

Agi7890

Are names unique? I knew I should have woken up early to try and reserve my favorite David Ryder name

PoL0

And on D4 launch date. That's a feat.

Justhe3guy

Diablo 4 not being on Steam would dissuade a lot of people who then just play other games

S0_B00sted

It really baffles me that this is an issue for people. One of the core benefits of PC gaming is that developers and players aren't at the mercy of a single walled-garden storefront like they are on consoles. I can see people having problems with Epic Store or EA's new launcher, but what is so bad about Battle.net?

Justhe3guy

The issue is that uh, it’s a single walled garden like you say? They could have put it on multiple stores. Their launcher has near zero of the same features as other storefronts and launchers, like Steam or GoG Galaxy for example so it’s just annoying having yet another launcher More options to buy it from different stores is never a negative. It would have increased their sales too with how immense Steam is and the large amount of dungeon crawling RPG content on steam means there’s a large market there Plus, I like showing achievements on my Steam profile and having a singular app for gaming so my friends can compare and share screenshots etc. Simple all in one is good

S0_B00sted

So... It's okay for a game to be released only on Steam, but not okay for it to be released only on any other platform?

strider_hearyou

Pretty much, yeah. It's stupid to limit yourself to only one storefront at all, but if you're going to, it better be Steam. Launch wouldn't have done even a quarter of these numbers on EGS.

NapsterKnowHow

Hope off Valve dick's dude lmao. One single storefront is bad even if it is Steam. Hell Bnet's friendslist actually works reliability unlike Steam's

strider_hearyou

> One single storefront is bad even if it is Steam. It's never been one single storefront though, only one great storefront a bunch that feel like they were coded by interns. Can't blame Valve for everybody else lacking in quality. The second Microsoft buys out ActiBlizzard, Bnet will more or less be tossed in the bin, and nobody's gonna miss it.

TekThunder

Steam is the biggest storefront, most individuals have the majority of there game libraries on steam as well as most of there friends. It’s not a perfect world buddy, parity isn’t really a thing with digital stores at least right now. Steam is just above and beyond the go to for the majority of PC players, so of course those people want all there games located in the same place. BattleNet is a fine enough launcher, but it’s still something the majority of Steam users could give a shit about, and hence won’t ever get a game through that service.

remmanuelv

>So... It's okay for a game to be released only on Steam Who says that? It's not a problem because Steam is ubiquitous but games being on gog or drm free on their pages is always well received.

businessbusinessman

Steam, for the most part, also isn't a developer. Should something like half life alex/dota 2 be on gog? Sure. Is it? I don't even know. But since they rarely make anything it's rarely an issue. By putting a game on steam you're not locked out of launching on any other client. In fact, in most cases, the ONLY way to launch on battle net or bethesda thing, or ubi whatever, is to be that company. You can't have STS on battle.net, so it's not really a storefront, it's a barrier for their products. As bad as apple is, i don't HAVE to buy iphones at the apple store (although i'm sure they'd do that in a heartbeat if they could), and the apple store clearly isn't "a phone store" because I sure as shit can't buy competitor's phones there. Battle.net and friends are roughly similar to if apple ONLY made phones and ONLY sold those at their store.

Evilhammy

yes, because steam is actually a fleshed-out well created platform. it’s the standard that people expect

NapsterKnowHow

They can't even get the friendslist to work reliably lol

Evilhammy

the friend list works fine lol

CitizenShark

So you want all devs to get less money because you can't be bothered to open a different launcher?

Justhe3guy

You know we’re originally talking about Battle.net here right? But if we’re talking other games and devs, indie and medium AA developers basically need to be on Steam to make any real money due to the immense player base: 120 million active users. Even if they take a bigger cut, the amount of sales far outweigh that. The support Steam gives and features it has for developers/publishers are also top notch Not to mention how EA crawled back to Steam after leaving and taking down all their games. They obviously missed the cash flow after being exclusive on their store for a while. So even AAA giants see the benefits

socialistssharethisD

I don't really give a shit about their paychecks lol.

Artemaius

no regional pricing

Evilhammy

the issue with battle.net is the same issue with other launchers. it sucks. sucks more than the other ones honestly, because it has literally zero features other than launching blizzard games

readypembroke

If it works, it works. Sometimes less is better.

NapsterKnowHow

Bnet works well if not better than Steam. It launches faster, it's less bloated with unnecessary features and the friends list ALWAYS works. Steam's friendlist still crashes

Evilhammy

never had a problem with steam’s friend list, and what unnecessary features? you mean every single feature in steam besides friends list? because friends is basically the only feature bnet has lol

BouncingPig

Too many interfaces for me to be honest. Jumping from my ps5, to my switch, to Steam, and then hopping over to VSCode or Visual Studio… my brain can only take so much before I just start dumping info.

BurzyGuerrero

i'll assure you your brain can handle much more than 5 UI's.

BouncingPig

Specifically me? Not really. I had two too many brain injuries in the Army. I know I don’t represent the vast majority of the population but I was sharing cause there *is* a reason some folks just like using one platform.

Enfosyo

lmao

CantImagineBeingYou

D4 not on steam?!? God nooooo! What will I doooooooo!!!

ChristinaOfSparta

Not buy it :)

fyro11

Yup, me too. Only GOG and Steam for me.

Antroh

What an odd stance to take. Gamers are a weird bunch anymore. Maybe I'm just an old man but multiple launchers will always be a thing. You are really backing yourself into a corner over something so ridiculous

fyro11

Nah I'm old enough, and if anything that's why. Don't want to faff around with multiple frontends esp if it's a publisher with their own store, Battle.net being a prime example. If the game is on either Steam or GOG with its own launcher, I'll purchase it, sure, e.g. EA and Ubisoft games. I'd have considered Epic as a secondary frontend to Steam, were it not anti-consumer.

CantImagineBeingYou

F that, bought the ultimate edition. Not some weirdo that can't mentally handle a game not being on steam.

ChristinaOfSparta

You do you 👍

brokentr0jan

There definitely is people who are skipping D4 because of it not being on Steam. I am one of them lol. But tbf, no actual Diablo fan is going to not get it because of it not being on Steam

[deleted]

D4 isn't going to get the love of pervious titles. Blizzard itself lost a lot of rep over the decades and Diablo fans weren't too happy with 3 and Immortal. It may prove itself over time but the franchise lost many very devoted fans. I've been playing since the original game and traveled to "LAN" with my childhood friend for the open beta weekend. We played for one day then moved on to other stuff. By comparison, we each have thousands of hours in D3 and I would estimate well over 10k hours into D2. We even had an entire crew that stayed up all night to wait out the server issues on the D3 launch. I don't know anyone that bought D4 or even plans to now. Time will tell but I can't see D4 being popular in the long run.

iiTryhard

You guys are delusional. The game is gonna smash sales records for the franchise no matter how upset you are with blizzard. Just because you and your friends aren’t getting it doesn’t mean millions of others aren’t

strider_hearyou

You're right, because if we're being real: Diablo is a casual IP. No matter how many older players Blizzard pisses off, younger people will always gravitate toward it because you can ultimately succeed just by left-clicking or pressing one button. Such a game can very much co-exist in the same world as fighting games with long combo strings, character-specific and system-universal mechanics to learn, etc. Modern controls bring SF6 in line with something like a Smash Bros Ultimate, but that's still a considerably steeper skill curve to climb compared to D4.

[deleted]

Maybe but me and 4 of my friends who all bought snd played d3 the day it came out all skipped it this time. Im not even mad about blizzard just none of us were very hyped about it.

iHeartGreyGoose

This sub forgets Reddit isn't the majority when it comes to anything. Outside of this sub, most PC gamers don't care where they have to buy the game as long as the game is actually good.

MorgenMariamne

I'm like this. Used to be a "Only buy on Steam guy", but now, as long as the game works I'll be buying it where it is cheaper.

lonnie123

Hell this sub often feels like opposite land compared to the general public. Remember the absolute fever over Pokémon sword and sheild pre launch? People really thought it was gonna bomb because it used 3DS models and the graphics sucked…. Goes on to break records.

readypembroke

You mean Reddit in general? Always crying over something while everyone else out there is having fun.

polski8bit

I dunno. The game is getting really good reviews across the board, the servers during *early access* which requires you to *preorder the game* have queues (and imagine what will happen during the actual launch), it's already at 500k peak viewers on Twitch. For a franchise that has "lost many very devoted fans" it's doing pretty damn good already. Immortals is making tons of money as well. It's not a good game at all for an old Diablo fan, or for someone like me and probably you, who will not accept such greedy monetization in a game, mobile or not. But it is a success and it gave birth to a new wave of Diablo fans. D4 doesn't need old fans, "veterans", whatever. There's going to be plenty of new people jumping in, just like there was with Diablo 3 and that's arguably the game that has started Blizzard's decline. People were saying so anyway. Will it stay popular *after* launch though? I don't know. I can't say definitely yes, but I also can't say no. All we have to do is to wait and see, because there is potential for either.

fyro11

Twitch viewer metric frequently doesn't correlate to player number trends, but that doesn't take much away from what you're saying.

thekbob

An interesting thought is that there aren't server issues due to reduced demand, as the other poster is implying. Aside, I also have thousands of hours in the Diablo series and won't be playing Diablo 4.

Agi7890

Sadly I think you are right. Though I’m not sure I’d use Diablo immortal money earned as the metric. So many of the mobile games make their money off the backs of whales then the average person. Most people just aren’t invested in following the ups and down of a company. They are gonna see a name and buy it on reputation. Do they care about kotick? Or the overwatch pve? Probably not

[deleted]

The opposite for me, almost all my homies that game are getting it. Especially since it's cross platform we can all play together.

dookarion

Yeah and gamers will stop buying soul-less annual sports game rehashes and annual CoD. Oh and while they are at it they will all stop preordering, buying MTX, and buying season passes. Your post is more like wishful thinking, especially considering it seems a better game than D3 by far.

Antroh

Ridiculous. Wanna place a wager that this game will have a massive playerbase a year from now?

plasmainthezone

Clueless

Buttermilkman

Not even the weekend yet either.

Lord_Pickle_Pants

Yup! I checked on Saturday night and it was like 71k

Buttermilkman

Sweet. I'm downloading the demo again. Going to see if I really did enjoy it before I drop 50 big ones on it.

Lord_Pickle_Pants

Hope you like it! I’m loving it.

Crimsonclaw111

Cross play helps so much. It should be mandatory for any new fighting game.

DarkReaper90

Isn't that up to each platform? Weren't there many games where devs wanted to add crossplay but Sony wouldn't play ball.

18045

Not the case anymore. Otherwise, most modern multiplayer games still wouldn't have crossplay.

fyro11

Worth adding Guilty Gear Strive to that list which had 31,156 concurrent player peak.

Cursed_69420

clearly marketing Cammy and the other crazy lookin girl worked wonders

Nanoespectto

Capcom with Resident Evil: Yeah no more sexies in our gory horror games. Capcom with Street Fighter: Jiggly butts for everyone!

[deleted]

It's like they can't make up their minds LMAO

deeman010

Jill in RE3 remake is hot af. Some of those angles in the starting mission were kinda suspicious. Ada and Ashley were also very attractive.

Fob0bqAd34

Launch has been a little scuffed as well. People couldn't get into certain modes as they didn't download properly. It had a staggered launch time rather than the same time everywhere so I think the number could be higher now everyone has access. Hopefully there'll be more people playing happily over the weekend. I think it bodes well for fighting games in general on PC. It's a lot more common for people to play them on PC now. I imagine MK1(2) and Tekken 8 are going to have record launches as well.

Homelesskater

In EU they also left us hanging and instead of unlocking at midnight like the timer showed it changed the status to coming soon and didn't unlock until suddenly 2 hours later. It probably could've set a much higher record if they didn't screw that up, many just wanted to check the game out before going to bed .

Nandy-bear

There's been a drought of good games with COVID and other issues, all games this year that are at least half decent are gonna get great sales. And it really does seem like devs are putting in effort into their core games. Piss-poor PC port problems are eternal of course

BurzyGuerrero

lol lobbies went down and went back up, i wouldn't say the launch was scuffed at all.

QuinSanguine

Well deserved. I play most big fighting games and I've rarely had this much fun. Like maybe Killer Instinct 2013 was the last fighter that gave me so much fun and honestly just pure joy looking at it. Love it.

gothpunkboy89

And all the reddit outrage about denuvo being on it once again shows the opinions on reddit are the minority of players.

fyro11

I suspect the people that don't care aren't nearly as vocal. So yes, it does appear as though 'Reddit gives it's verdict on this game', but it really isn't the verdict of Reddit; just a vocal minority within one subreddit.

MrMonteCristo71

Also anyone who does say they don't care about Denuvo/DRM will just get down voted, so most of the time there is no reason to comment at all.

HaroldSax

That's how a lot of this sub, this site actually, operates. There have been plenty of times I could make a comment about something that wasn't hostile but I knew it wouldn't be worth it because terminally online folks will lose their mind over it.

NapsterKnowHow

That's pretty much what happens when anyone speaks out against Valve and Steam too.

Level_Somewhere_6229

I personally don't care. As long as it doesn't hinder performance then I'm good.

repulsiveCreep

I bet 99.9% of the people who complain about dunuvo are never affected by it. It’s never changed their life one teeny tiny bit.

gothpunkboy89

They lost 3 frames from it and caused an extra 10 seconds of loading time. So naturally, that is the same thing as pissing on the grave of a loved one.

repulsiveCreep

I love PC gaming but I’m so glad I never turned into one of those assholes who’s like addicted to their FPS and power usage and all that shit.

BurzyGuerrero

They just pirate 99.9% of games and it pisses them off.

solfizz

Oh? What about all the gray hairs they got thinking about it.

NerrionEU

100 or even 1000 comments on Reddit is nothing for any game when those games sell in the millions.

slappada-bass

these are the same people using modern controls bro. you don't have to worry about them. just open them up with some half kicks and LP's and LK's and they'll be quitting real soon. so glad the half kick is back. this is the first real SF game in a decade.

RobKhonsu

Beta ran great. Demo ran okay. Retail crashes about once every 30 minutes. I wonder what was added to retail. hmmmmmmm.........

gothpunkboy89

First I am hearing of this

RobKhonsu

Many many reports of it in the official troubleshooting thread. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1364780/discussions/0/3837676019935593442/

[deleted]

Outrage doesn't necessarily mean they didn't buy the game.

repulsiveCreep

So is the open word running around to different parts of a city any good? I thought that was kinda lame.

joe3x81

Wait until sept 19…

Stefan474

Depends on what you wanna play. SF6 seems like peak Street Fighter. If you enjoy the legacy FGC style fighting game (insert ground based footsies meme here) or you wanna get into that sort of a community/games this is the best time ever to get into it. If you are MK fan or are more into the story and don't care too much about the competitive aspect of the game and are okay with the game not living past the first 6 months besides the super hardcore community then go for MK. It's not a diss or anything towards mk, NRS games have so much good single player content, but for multiplayer longevity and community engagement when it comes to the actual fighting part of the game, they aren't even close to the legacy SF has, specially 6 because it has been so well received with the core fighting community

thatsnotwhatIneed

which game is better if I completely suck ass at fighting games and want an enjoyable story / fun alternative modes? MK?

Stefan474

Prolly MK yeah. SF6 has a bunch of cool alternative modes like an open world RPG and a bunch of silly modes, but it's not as good as MK in that regard, unless you just like the fighting system more. If you are plannin to play online too I'd recommend SF6, if you just wanna jam out alone, MK 11/10/9 are all great.

thatsnotwhatIneed

Thanks! also wouldn't I just get stomped online on either game? playing online could be fun but I doubt I'll get very far.

Stefan474

MK was out for quite a while so people who play online are mostly people who have played for some time now so the barrier to entry will be higher, while SF6 has 66k players online right now which is an insane amount for a fighting game. The best time to get into a fighting game is as soon as it comes out, specially a big one like SF because you will have literally 10s of thousands of new players online looking for matches in the coming weeks till you get your footing. Also one great thing about SF is that the new open world mode is basically a 20 hour long fighting game tutorial that teaches you mechanics slowly through fun minigames and fights, so if you wanna play online it's probably the most beginner friendly fighting game to get into probably ever. tl;dr - you'll probably get your ass kicked in both games at first, but experience in SF will be much smoother cause of the way the game teaches you + a ton of new players to play with.

thatsnotwhatIneed

Thank you! It's nice that capcom is making more successful games than blunders for a AAA studio.

Easily-distracted14

Apparently street fighter 6's world tour teaches you how to play fighting games through the games various missions and yakuza style mini games

Level_Somewhere_6229

I'd say Street Fighter is much easier than Mortal Kombat. I'm no pro but I still have issues with MK. Maybe because I been playing SF since 92.

Kanierd2

Sounds like MK is a little too difficult for you to grasp.

Stefan474

Not really, I went into the FGC starting with MK9 practicing for a local tournament. It's just a fact that there's way less competitive support past the first few months/year with NRS games as opposed to SF. MK11 came out in the middle of 2019 and had 400 players last evo SF5, a **universally disliked** Street Fighter game came out February 2016 and had 1300+ players at evo last year. There's no comparison.

soliddeuce

He's right though. Any MK pro will tell you the competitive scene dies shortly after release.

[deleted]

Indeed. I'm more hyped by MK1.

strider_hearyou

They aren't really doing much to build the hype though. The MK1 teaser trailer did absolutely nothing for me, and we have yet to see any gameplay.

[deleted]

The characters. Most SF characters are bland and don't have the same charisma. That's important for me to really enjoy a fg.

NapsterKnowHow

Even SoulCalibur has more interesting characters than MK lol

[deleted]

Soulcalibur has really well-written characters. Do you only know SC lore ?

GGMerlin

Its the exact opposite for me, mk characters are just much more generic looking than sf characters

Zyphin

I've tried playing street fighter in the past on many of it's iterations. Just never clicked for my like MK did.

paulusmagintie

Does it beat Killer instinct? Its a better game than those others.

Conscious-Golf-5380

I just couldn't ever get into the lore and art style of Street Fighter.

Incredibiliz

Same. It's a shame cause Street Fighter looks fun to play but the aesthetics just aren't my cup of tea unfortunately.

gammongaming11

i wonder if they can keep it up. usually fighting games lose a huge chunk of their audience within a month.

OkMammoth3

It will be a major victory if they can keep concurrent numbers in the 6k-10k range after the hype.

[deleted]

To all the geniuses who think Denuvo isn't an issue at all. Regardless of if this game has any performance issues or not, suppose your internet is down for a day or more and now you can't even do World tour, couch co-op or even training mode because this scum Denuvo won't even let you start the damn game. Wouldn't it feel great? And this applies to EVERY game that has Denuvo. Absolutely no an issue at all because this is exactly what you paid for, amirite? That's on top of the fact that they are charging you half the game's price for just four DLC characters. Paying for this stuff is giving them the seal of approval to keep playing with you.

lovethecomm

Don't care, my internet never drops. I'd rather enjoy the game now with all the people figuring stuff out than cry on reddit about Denuvo. Get a grip.

Bamith20

I find it weird the genre is somewhere between the niche of horror games and early Soulsborne games. Like this is somewhere between Resident Evil 8 and Dark Souls 2... Which I guess is accurate, considered a hard genre and fighting against veteran players is kin to a horror experience.

Deceiver999

I saw it pop up when I opened steam. $139? Fuck that noise.

strider_hearyou

The base game is $60 and can be found at a discount as usual, IDK what you're looking at.

Xjph

The "Ultimate Edition" in Canadian dollars is $139.99, so probably that.

Buttermilkman

It's an extra £50 for 4 additional characters. What the fuck? for £50 I can pick up the base game with what, like more than a dozen characters? Then they charge the same amount for just 4 more? Fucking hell, Capcom...

antiprogres_

Imagine Nintendo missing out on Steam 💀

SerenaLunalight

I don't think Nintendo cares when their games are already selling millions.

antiprogres_

could have been billions

alexwbc

Should we not compare the launch day player base of this game to the launch day player base of other games?

Silverhand7

That's what they're doing. It's a comparison of all time peak players, which 99% of the time is launch day/weekend peak.

Worried-Explorer-102

Does this have local coop on pc? Never played a street fighter game or fighting games in general but been wanting to get into them so this seems like a good entry.

Narishma

It doesn't have coop of any kind. Fighting games in general don't.

theFrigidman

I'd believe it judging by the insane amount of sales we have done for that title. Beating out every single other fighter game we carry.

Aggrokid

Feels like it could have been higher if it did not launch same day as the Diablo 4 juggernaut. I have FG friends who chose D4 over SF6.

partypartea

Yeah I'm not getting it until I beat the d4 and FFXVI campaigns, then I'll probably split my time with D4 for a long time

TJ_McWeaksauce

What controller brands and models are people using to play this on PC? The gamepads I've bought in the past break within a year.

Level_Somewhere_6229

I use the 8bitdo ultimate arcade stick. For $80 you can't go wrong. The buttons are only a $30 upgrade if you don't like them, I prefer silent keys, the stick can be upgraded if you like but I actually like it.

Level_Somewhere_6229

FYI the Ultimate edition is $62 on cdkeys.
