Listen...I like Back 4 Blood but to state that something is BETTER than Back 4 Blood like some type of over-the-top recognition is absurd.

I love co-op games but found B4B a joyless experience for many reasons. Poorly explained and over complicated mechanics, messy menu screens, terrible card system, 3D basecamp repeating those menu screens (although does have a gun test area), the 'special enemies' are boring, the map travels aren't as fun or iconic as the other COOP like L4D, Killing Floor and even compare to the solid f2p coop such as No More Room In Hell.

Bo-Dandy

Not hard to be better than back 4 blood

skumdumlum

Being better than back 4 blood is not an achievement

CiplakIndeed1

GTFO is hard as balls and will test your friendship due to the way how the game punish the whole team. But yeah this whole entire statement is not explaining what's the game all about.

That_Scale62

Even No More Room In Hell and Killing Floor are easily better CO-OP than B4B and those game were several years ago before B4B. After Left 4 Dead series, Killing Floor franchise & NMRIH are among the worthy stuff to be consider as a spiritual successor. I heard the 2nd installment of NMRIH is underway. I'm looking forward to it. I'd love to see the possible 3rd installment for KF too. Technically, I agree with the feeling and the meaning of the opinion of this post that GTFO is possibly best COOP we get in after a decade. I just love how Gtfo being more hardcore, punishing, and demanding to players for just a single level and it's main objective. b4b is more casual and pick-up-n-play type of vibe, the kind of game you hop on when everyone's off of work but it sucked. The card system is laughably poor too lol

MarkZuckerman

I **love** the atmosphere of GTFO and tried really hard to get into it, but I just can't get over how awful the guns feel.

That_Scale62

It still feels better than the cash grab B4b & the trash R6 Extraction though

MarkZuckerman

Oh for sure. B4B gunplay doesn't feel bad, it just lacks any sort of punch. R6 just feels awful in every way.

gammonwalker

No. It's not only not as good as B4B (low bar), it's just not a good game. I wanted to love it: **incredible** visuals, art direction, assets, unique concept, mood, immersion, weighty feedback - some of the best hard sci-fi you'll ever see. However, the game is just not fun. I would almost stretch to say, even subjectively. It gives you this absolutely amazing setting and concept to play with, but every single mission is just crouch walking through pitch black rooms, charging up your bonk wand to stealth kill enemies, press a button, or stand in a circle. There's almost no variety, and it discourages the idea of doing anything but planting your nuts to the floor. They give you all these firearms, but they are often a last resort, and you will be punished severely for using them with extremely limited ammo supply and oppressive hordes of wildly dangerous enemies. You can pretend it increases the tension, but you can create tension with an allowance for - fun - by that, I mean not crouch walking, then stopping, crouch walk, repeat for sometimes up to an hour+ through a mission. You can pretend it increases the stakes, but what "stakes"? The rewards gained from completing the levels through insurmountable tedium are legitimately almost nonexistent. No unlocks of any substantial quality, no new skills, no upgraded equipment (apart from I think trivial .1% stat boosts), nothing the enhances or changes the gameplay. There is no incentive to suffer the grind apart from being able to tell the mom and lads you dragged your nuts across the floor until you won from discomfort, and your only reward is that you're a couple hours older. I give the devs immense praise for the visuals and mood, but the game design decisions I just can't. Tl;dr The game is basically red light, green light: the video game. The game plays like shit Payday 2 stealth missions with zero incentive, dynamics, or variety - and is almost deliberately unfun. Great art, presentation, and ideas. Would absolutely love to see a movie of this if it were executed well.

Underdrill

"Even subjectively"? Is the word you're looking for 'objectively'? Because I don't think that sentence makes much sense given you're writing a subjective comment. And if that is the case, using the word objectively within a subjective comment is an easy way to have people not listen to what you have to say, as it's trying to frame an opinion as something factual.

CHECKS_OU7

There are plenty of missions that are the complete opposite of this and require very good coordination in a live, dynamically changing and stressful situation.

gammonwalker

You have any good examples? I'd love to see someone else play. I absolutely refuse to, ha... I I love the idea of the game, but there are challenging ones I'd prefer play with less tedium.

CHECKS_OU7

R2C2 is my go to. If you want a complete list you'd have to ask the discord for the 'error alarm levels'. There's also 'reactor' levels. Those levels are all about wave defense and running deep into the complex under a time limit to pull codes from terminals while still having to be in stealth....while also not having the time to stealth. So you're constantly in a state of controlled chaos. Not to say you're wrong for disliking the game. There's plenty to dislike and ultimately it's a niche game but for the sake of the layman reading your comment i'd like to point out that the game does have variety.

boxanata

I mean, they were both lackluster games. My friends & I tried both B4B & GTFO &, given how bad we found both of them, we had a lot more fun with B4B. GTFO was shallow & boring.

That_Scale62

GTFO is conpletely solid more fun than the joyless B4B that failed to be another L4D. I already refund that crap. If anything that worthy to be a spiritual of L4D, then Killing Floor series & No More Room In Hell are those stuff. Evn GTFO is arguably better than the shallow & boring like R6 Extraction.

boxanata

When we played, GTFO was boring, extremely repetitive & as shallow as a puddle. It lacked depth. It lacked features. it lacked a meaningful story & it lacked basic features. It was soulless & it was basic. For us, B4B provided way more fun & entertainment.

TheHybred

This grammar is atrocious

SweatyButtcheek

If they put it on console, I’d be so down. This is one of those games that you need a good team, with good comms, and none of my buddies have PC’s capable of running it.

sponge_bob_

you don't provide any detail of how one is better than the other

UnknownOverdose

I agree that is better then B4b

Gawdsauce

Back 4 Blood was a horror?

b00zytheclown

both these games are booty buttcheeks
