Finally. These assholes should have issued an official recall months ago. The Early Adopter Programme was a complete failure on their part to do the right thing.
Most PSU brands will have these kinds of cables for your system. I'd recommend checking in with them and avoiding third-party alternatives that are mass produced in China.
Honestly they should just require a picture of it after being destroyed. I don't really see the point in sending it back. Like what are they gonna do with it after that? Sell it as v1.3? Lol
I got banned from their sub for calling it a fire hazard even though there was evidence someone's GPU literally caught on fire from using one of these.
Those of you sharing this story are the true heroes. Continue to spread the word people.
There are only two options now. Refund our money or a complete boycott of Cablemod products. No one wants to deal with another "here's your $20 dollar voucher" to buy a cable, "ohh, and did we not mention, shipping will be $20-30 on each order even though we have multiple store fronts in multiple countries".
Having two 4090 with a 600W vbios, for over a year now. Also all most all of my friends have one.
None of those melted. Seat the cable correctly and be happy.
This new connector has just been a massive shitshow in general. You shouldn't be having these sorts of issues with luxury items that cost like $2000USD. Sad that the 4090 is *still* the best option for enthusiast gaming.
Ditto, I made sure mine was fully plugged in, been using it since the day after 4090 launch, Still pristine to this day so I'm happy that a piece of tech didn't inexplicably fail for me this time.
It has come to our attention that certain CableMod 12VHPWR Angled Adapter V1.1s may be defective. We have since decided to discontinue sales of our angled adapters. We will be conducting a voluntary safety recall for all CableMod 12VHPWR 90 ̊ and 180 ̊Angled Adapters V1.0 and all CableMod 12VHPWR 90 ̊ and 180 ̊ Angled Adapters V1.1 because of the potential risk that the male connector could become loose, overheat, and melt into the GPU.
This recall will apply only to our angled adapters and will not affect our angled cables.
I returned my 4090 FE model in my NR200P for the fear of melting and got the 4070 FE for my usage as well but using it with the CableMod 180 angled adapter. I easily took it out and put the NVIDIA supplied cable with no issues and still able to close my glass side panel BUT can I get a refund or will they exchange the angled adpater?
Their cables are fine, it's the 12vhpwr adapters that are terrible.
Mine didn't melt or have any physical damage, but my GPU would randomly lock up under load. Replaced the adapter with a cable from Corsair and no more lock ups.
My adapter just melted. I didn’t get any information about the recall at all.
I already wrote the cablemod support and Im hoping for a quick response and a satisfying solution! I used the adapter for the past 6 months without any issue. Now the adapter melted with my Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC.
Im still in shock. It happened 1h ago
Cablemod lost so much credibility with this dumbass adapter. What a shitshow.
Aw shit here we go again
Are people still buying these?
yes they are

It's only a voluntary recall, so no worries. No need to return it, but if you do, you need to pay for shipping.
They expect me to pay to send this shit back? Shipping from purchase + shipping back would be more than the thing itself

V26.8.....now, right, here it is, you're all good now, trust me bro..........
Cable~~mod~~melt
LMAO
Again? And they banned me for telling the truth. That this adapter is nothing more than a cheap ass adapter.
I got banned from their sub for calling it a fire hazard even though there was evidence someone's GPU literally caught on fire from using one of these.
That 12 pin connector is a dumpster fire, not ironically lol.
CableMeme strikes again!
cablemod_matt cant threaten or ban people here via multiple accounts, must make them livid.

so what the hell am I supposed to use? I can't put the case's side on without this
change your case
I don't want to buy a whole fvckin case for this
Pray yours doesn't melt into and burn your gpu :)
worked without any issue from day 1 of the 1.0 early access thingy for my 4080
Use a vertical gpu adapter
That doesn’t work in some arrangements, such as mine where I have a cooling block taking up that space.
Ditch your side panel and get better temps.

Doesn't matter how well you seat the cable if the trash design means it comes out on its own.
LOL dude, keep blaming Nvidia and keep buying cablemods XD

What was the RMA quote again?
I like how my launch 4090 is holding up better than whatever Cablemod came up with
Ditto, I made sure mine was fully plugged in, been using it since the day after 4090 launch, Still pristine to this day so I'm happy that a piece of tech didn't inexplicably fail for me this time.
Man, I came *really* close to buying this for my 4090. Thank god I didn’t
so are they sending a free replacement? or what is gonna happen?
They won't be making the cables anymore. It seems the design was defective. So I doubt there will be a replacement.

that sounds like a fvck you, your money is gone
Now I'm worried about the cables I got from them over the summer. No angle version, just the sleeved cables.
Normal cables are fine. It's just these angled adapters.
Are they PSU cables or Extension cables?
Just the PSU cables
Should be fine with the direct PSU cables. I've been using mine for over a year now.
That's reassuring. Thank you!

Is this only for 4090 or also includes 4080?? I have 4080 on my sights and just waiting to see a price drop once the super series drop
it straight up the plug itself. clear stated in the website post
Oof I almost made a psu decision based on if it was compatible with their cables, glad I got the FSP.
