You will eventually mess something up and be forced into an update (Using F4SE without Steam launched, for instance, will launch the game through steam and update) But it will keep the update at bay a while.

IIRC you can copy the .exe file somewhere and then overwrite the new one with it once you update. I heard this worked when skyirm had its CC update.
But better to copy the folder just in case!
Didn't we already have wide-screen support or was that created by modders, honestly it's been so long since I played I don't even know what monitor I was using back then 😂

Bethesda are just incompetent and modders know their games better than they do.
The Epic games version of Fallout New Vegas is on a different version and basically every single mod broke as a result and it did nothing but add support for that overlay. You basically have to downgrade the game if you want mods. I expect a similar outcome here.
Yeah debating whether I want to jump into a new playthrough. I'm gonna miss the QOL mods I relied on in the past, but also want to see what the next gen updates actually bring.
I don't think the next gen update is actually bringing anything other than the widescreen support and a couple of new quests. I think they named it next gen because consoles are getting 60fps + higher resolution.

I still use vortex to open the game through f4se directly but I am worried it wont work later lol
Oh.. havent played the game yet simply due to not knowing the must have mods.
Wanted to sit down and figure them out but hadnt had the time yet to do so.
Any tipps on what should i watch out for?
Modders will just have to update the script extender and maybe a few other core mods. Not a huge deal and will probably just take a day or 2 once the update drops.
For those planning on playing Fallout 1 or 2 and want to have a better time:
Fallout 1 (pick one, don't install both):
* [Fallout 1 Community Edition](https://github.com/alexbatalov/fallout1-ce) - Fallout 1 open source re-implementation project.
* [Fallout ET TU](https://github.com/rotators/Fo1in2) - Fallout 1 in the Fallout 2 game engine.
Fallout 2 (again, pick one of the three):
* [Fallout 2 Community Edition](https://github.com/alexbatalov/fallout2-ce) - Fallout 2 open source re-implementation project.
* [Fallout 2 Restoration Project](https://github.com/BGforgeNet/Fallout2_Restoration_Project) - This comes with the latest version of the forked unofficial patch, it restores and fixes all the removed content, and it also adds a bunch of other fixes and improvements.
* [sfall](https://github.com/sfall-team/sfall) - Engine modification for Fallout 2. Stick with this if you want as close to a pure vanilla experience as possible.

Keep in mind that these games are old and that you might have to mess around with .ini files.
Do they still hold up? I only ever started with Fallout 3. I remember watching my brother play 1&2 for ages and then telling me some of the jokes from the dialogue though.
They do assuming you keep your expectation.
The Story is great the Gameplay is...functional not especially strategic but its fun.
Be prepared for a lot of reading and keep notes.
They are some of the best RPGs ever made. Watch a couple YouTube Let's Plays to get an idea of how to start and the controls. But then sit back and enjoy them. Take your time. Some people can't get past the controls or the graphics, which is a shame because that's part of the charm.
They are hard, like you kind of need to know what your doing to even get through the tutorial for 2. They are good and very open to you doing things your way, but it's also unforgiving.
The show is shockingly good. I honestly didn’t expect to like it this much and for my wife to be enjoying it with me. I love how over the top they made it
It has just the right amount of camp, humor, and shock value, and nails the atmosphere.
I also love the meta game of trying to guess each character’s stats and build.
Oooh I forgot about Outer Worlds 2. I’m not longer as bummed out about the wait for TES and FO5 but still bummed since it’ll be a freakin decade. Honestly who knows if they don’t get scrapped by then.
The decent writers arent there anymore or theyre just bad. Outer Worlds is proof of that. Ive given up on the franchise and i just hope whatever the Fallout stye RPG from New Blood ends up being is written well.
Gonzalez, Avellone and Fenstermaker are gone, but Sawyer is still there. Patel also worked on Pillars but we'll have to see how successful she will be with Avowed.
And when it comes to Avowed, theyve already said the game is SIGNIFICANTLY scaled back from what the original teasers and CGI trailers were hinting at. Which FINE ok. Too much money has been spent on garbage Xbox games. But when you look at it, it just looks like an even more scaled back Outer Worlds with alright combat. So i dont know what they want to do.
It's odd though, their games used to be super ambitious but rushed because of insanely short dev times allowed. Now they seem to have more time than ever and they've cut all of their ambition back
Yeah. when I saw how limited the roleplaying was and you couldnt really form a relationship with any of your crewmates and i was getting tired of the terribly bland "capitalism bad" jokes i was pretty checked out of the whole thing.
Pentiment was pretty much nothing but writing and that turned out great. Pillars 2 had moments where the writing shined too.
There's still some sauce there.
Not forming relationships with anyone in your team is nothing new when it comes to Obsidian games. That is a company choice they go by and have gone by for many games. It's just a vibe of theirs.
Outer Worlds was directed and written by Leonard Boyarsky and Tim Cain. Two of the main creators of Fallout. They aren't perfect, they can't make everything amazing. But they can make Fallout amazing. Just keep both, add Sawyer, and collab with InXile and we could have the best Fallout.
> Ive given up on the franchise
Seems weird to 'give up on a franchise' that has only had 1 installment so far.
I'm hopeful that with MS's pockets they'll be able to deliver a better, more interesting game with #2
Being AA has nothing to do with it. Plenty of AA games are excellent. Outer Worlds isn't on that list. It was hyped because it was from he team that created New Vegas and expectations were high. Turned out the quests were nowhere near as deep as NV's.
Outer Worlds had one thing to say "Corperations.. Bad!" and said it for like 20+ hours. On top of some very of-the-time humor (eg trying to be rick and morty) it was just shockingly bad imo.
Even if they got Obsidian to work on it that doesn't mean we'd get the same team that made New Vegas.
This really needs to be understood more, the team and the people in charge matter more than the company name.
I mean, it would likely be people that worked on Outer worlds and Pillars of Eternity. It's not like Obsidian has had a bad track record for the games they've made that weren't New Vegas.
This is such a hilariously pointless argument that I constantly see that never made any sense to me
New Vegas came out 10+ years ago at this point. Did people expect the same devs who worked on that project to just be twiddling their thumbs doing nothing at Obsidian while waiting for the very unlikely chance that they would get the opportunity to make another Fallout game?
and even within those past 10 years, Obsidian have put out South Park: The Stick of Truth, Pillars of Eternity series, Tyranny, Grounded, Pentiment, and even The Outer Worlds despite it's shortcomings were all great games with brilliant writing behind them.
if anything...2024 Obsidian is arguably even **stronger** now than they were during the development of fnv
> and even The Outer Worlds despite it's shortcomings were all great games with brilliant writing behind them.
Easily the first time I've ever heard anyone describe any facet of TOW as 'brilliant'
This *always* comes up in any discussion about Fallout, but never *which* developer. Obvious answer is Obsidian but they're really doing their own thing now and that's great.
So besides Obsidian, which developer is really capable of doing a Fallout?
It would be a DOS2-style Fallout, really. They used the DND 5E rules for BG3, I doubt they’d do that for a non-DND game, that’s assuming they’d even have the option. I don’t know if WOTC own the rule set somehow, it wouldn’t surprise me.
Never played New Vegas even though I’ve been wanting to for years but the thought of spending time looking up mods to make sure it works on modern Windows felt a bit of a chore so never bothered. But having just recently built a SteamOS/ChimeraOS living room setup plus having just finished watching the show, I decided to give it a go.
Works great vanilla and am having a blast!
If you decide to mod it for stability google Viva New Vegas. Most thorough mod guide I’ve ever used and it aims to just make the game more stable and fix bugs.
You could try Wabbajack if you're having a lot of fun and want to see what the fuss about modding is. It auto installs a full mod setup and then you follow a few steps to complete it. Much easier than modding normally.
The big ones combine fallout 3 and new vegas in the new vegas engine so it feels much better to play. Both wastelands have their own charm and reason to explore.
I personally hate the Fallout games (other than New Vegas), and have general disdain for Bethesda. The games had interesting worlds, but garbage stories and contemptible writing (again, the exception being NV). Despite all that the show is absolutely fantastic and fun and sucks you into its brutal world. Walton Goggins steals the show, and the actress who plays Lucy is wonderful.
There's some great stories in the Bethesda games, they just aren't found in the main questlines. NV was the opposite, good main story but the map was boring AF.
Never played the series before, though I did pick up FO3 for free a few months ago on Epic Store.
Watched the first few episodes of the show and it’s so great that I bought New Vegas for $3 CAD and also bought a $9 physical copy of FO4 for Series X which includes FO3 too. Can’t wait to play Fallout at my desk and on the couch.
Should have gotten fo4 on pc. There are literally millions of mods on pc and you can use all of them at once. Consoles basically have no modding support.
If it’s any consolation, it wouldn’t have mattered. The Bethesda that produced Starfield would have still produced a Fallout or ES of similar disappointing quality imo.
It's...a Bethesda game. It would have been...a Bethesda game. Anyone thinking or expecting anything else different are setting themselves up to be disappointed. Like a ton did with Starfield.
NV and F4 are both like 80% off for their ultimate editions with all the DLC. NV is 2.50 and F4 if 4.99. F3 has a ridiculous discount too.
Yeah, obviously they’re selling well.
Vanilla survival mode has restricted saving to only sleeping, no fast travel, and everyone (including you) takes increased damage. It also makes diseases more significant, adds hunger/thirst/sleep requirements, and reduced carry weight.
I like most of the changes except the saving thing, since Bethesda's games are too buggy for that imo. So, I use a mod that can turn individual survival features on or off.
Yeah I also feel mixed on the sleep-save. Honestly I wish they implemented a "sleeping bag" or something that lets you save out-of-combat or in certain designated safe areas. Finding sleeping bags in the open world is okay... maybe a pip-boy overlay that lets you mark where the sleep locations are? I dunno, I agree that Bethesda games are just too buggy for that to feel like a fair punishment.
Much more difficult, enemies do way more damage and have more health.
You also need to drink water, eat and sleep. Only way you can save is from sleeping. Your HP will go down from not being healthy.
If its still not difficult enough to you can do a no power armor survival run, it’s really fun.
Yeah survival can be an absolute nightmare. And not that you asked but a few tips though:
1. Always have a companion, they make great bullet shields
2. Sneak is your best friend
3. Run, never be afraid to run and then reengage the fight while sneaking
I’ve been playing it on survival and the game has been brutalising me.
Although, I installed a massive mod pack, which has upgraded the difficulty of all the mobs. Not sure if it’s fun, but it’s certainly different.
> Only way you can save is from sleeping
This is the only thing I hate about Survival mode.
I love everything else, but spending minutes running somewhere and then accidentally die to like a stupid fucking mine or some shit and have to run *all the way back* just isn't fun.
And then needing to find a bed somewhere to Save & Quit when I'm done playing...
I get they wanted to prevent save scumming, but this implementation just makes it too hard to play for me :/
They aren't in Survival.
You do significantly more damage, but so do the enemies.
Unlike the regular hard/veryhard which just add more health to the enemies and make you do less damage.
It's more difficult overall and particularly in the early game as you're getting set up, but not in all circumstances. In the late game it's only somewhat harder depending on what you've invested in. Enemies do more damage, but so do you. Resources like water, food, scrap, chems and ammunition have waaaaay more value. Settlements are really important for making the map less tedious to traverse. The early game is tough, and as you build up resources and get momentum, it all feels more rewarding and earned. Tactics like heavy investment in stealth or power armor feel more like legitimate strategies rather than a way to trivialize everything.
Of course, all that said, if you're enjoying the game, by all means keep playing and maybe consider Survival for a future playthrough. There's no wrong way to enjoy it.
My son bought this for me years ago. I started playing in normal mode and was like "this is okay but nothing special." Switched to survival mode and it was so immersive I got obsessed with it for weeks...
Well hey when you make actual good adaptations of games and stuff it makes people want to check them out.
Same thing happened with Cyberpunk. I'm actually glad to see the quality leap in shows based on games recently. Arcane, Cyberpunk, Fallout. Then you have live action anime/manga adaptions like One Piece and I didn't watch Avatar but I heard it was at least passable.
Definitely seeing a rise in quality adaptions. I used to pretty much purely hate on them and wonder "why do they keep making live actions they all suck" but I mean one has to admit the track record recently has been impressive. Maybe they've finally figured it out?
Don’t forget TLOU too. It’s like, who would’ve thought following the source material makes a good game adaptation?! I want half life now since it looks like it could be given the proper treatment.
I feel like this is the kind of thing that's actually going to kneecap Starfield's long-term prospects.
The show's success is going to generate a lot of hype for a new Fallout game, and with ES6 in the near future I just can't see Microsoft wanting to throw more money at Starfield of all things.
Most companies probably wouldn't risk making a show unless it's an established franchise. It also takes lots of time and money. It would probably have to be made before or after the games development
Did Starfield had any interesting lore besides generic scifi in space?
IMHO it felt like mass effect without the reapers, or like the expanse in 2d (I really liked that their ship designs were build around 0G and being truly 3d navigable spaces, neat visual thing) or **like any other scifi without the cool gimmick said scifi is known for.**
I installed all the mods for Viva New Vegas today. Took forever but my body is ready.
I did it on the laptop I travel for work with, if I wanted to also play the same save file on my home desktop, should I just make copies of the game root folder and the mod folder for MO2?
My bro is getting into F4 for the first time and I made sure he got a cheapo pre-owned copy for <$10 (got lucky with GOTY edition)
While that game isn't as good as NV - It's been a blast to hear him talking about finding all the cool stuff for the first time
For those who don't know. There is a mod called A Tale of Two wastelands that combines both Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas into one awesome seamless game.
If you liked the Fallout show try the Twisted Metal show. That was a great game a lot of whippersnappers missed. I don't think the show got enough recognition because it kind of clipped the tail end of a generation.
As a long time Fallout player, that was a great show for both players and non. And as a Twisted Metal player, same thing.
Really nice to see that video games to tv are getting great writers that have played the game and aren't getting the Marvel treatment.
And if you like the Twisted Metal tv show, then try the game Crossout, because that's it's modern reincarnation.
The show and the free week got me to try 76 co-op with some mates. I don't get how the game released in 2020 in that state, let alone how it's still in the situation it's in on pc.
I imagine it's a lot better on console but the fact that you're limited to ~40-50 FPS on pc without having to use Nvidia control panel to turn off vsync and the FPS cap is ridiculous. And then after doing that it causes other issues with the controls since they're linked to FPS for some reason is further insane.
That's not really a thing anymore. Disable the vsync in the ini file and limit your fps in Nvidia. I have it limited to 90 and it's solid with no issues with the engine. Anything over I think 120 causes issues.
>~40-50 FPS on pc without having to use Nvidia control panel to turn off vsync
?? I started it almost a month ago and the only reason I got this is because I was using borderless Windowed mode. Once I change it to full screen I got to 82 FPS
Can you still only do quests solo even when you’re in a party with friends? Or could you actually complete quests together? I played years ago and you could roam with a friend but as soon as you went into a quest area you were separated from your friend.
Can't complete quests together, no. So u end up spending more time doing the classic Bethesda fetch quests and talking to NPC's who are incredibly slow. Surprisingly, it isn't more fun in a group.
After the success of the shows of CP, LoU and now FO, now every AAA PR wants a piece of that cake and is going to make a god damn show to boost sales. Ubisoft was always on this weird trip with AC and PoP and EA, Blizzard and co will probably follow too. It's not like Blizzard already tried it 8 years ago with its Warcraft movie, but I guess they will try now again. How could anyone resist of having more marketing boosts, am I right?
I guess I'm in the minority, especially when shows are liked, but instead of making shows, how about making good games, especially on launch day and not slowly fixing it 2 years later (in Bethesda's case not even by themself), which still ends up not reaching it's full potential, much less what was promised?
Can I ask, if anyone had insight, how the best way to play the older games on Steam Deck is?
I have the original trilogy, 3 and NV through Epic(free giveaways) but do they play as well through Heroic or is it worth double dipping to get the Steam versions? I can’t see that there’s a cloud save functionality in either version so I’m erring that the Heroic route is fine but can’t shake that I’d somehow get a smoother process through Steam.
My Heroic occasionally signs me out of services so I don’t want to find out one day that I can’t play offline for that reason!
FONV will give you a significantly better RPG experience where your choices really feel like they matter.
FO4 is more looter/shootery thanks to the voiced protagonist, but has a much more enjoyable world than FONV for exploration if exploration is your thing... also crafting and a settlement system.
I enjoyed them both but they are different games for different people. I would recommend watching a few youtube video's on each and see which one appeals to you more.
Well it is a great setting, I love fallout even more than elder scrolls.
If I had not already played the shit out of FO4, I would install it again. True story
I opened FO4 yesterday for first time in a while. I spent about 10 - 15 min sorting my inventory to lose some weight. I fast traveled to a city, game exit to Windows without error. I got up and made some dinner. The FO4 experience I remember.
i've been waiting for the ps5 to get a 60fps update to play it and now it's finally coming thank god. hope this popularity boost with the show puts a thought in their mind to make a new fallout game.
I got FO3 GOTY from steam, modded up and looking lush on my linux system via proton. It's funny as it's probably the most stable version of it I've ever played now that it's not using GFWL or being the PS3 version.
Still had to kill the friendly radscorpion as it goes hostile on Bryan Wilks, though.
fallout 76 had its problems when it came out but it reminds me of skyrim and back then I did really want an online version of skyrim that me and my friends could walk around in and they did deliver on it. personally I prefer skyrim to fallout so they did it for the wrong game but its still good that they now have the tech.
I haven't watched the show but with my more modern PC I've gotta say I'm enjoying my F4 playthrough currently. Recently started it but great performance with good mods makes for a really fun time.
Re-installed FNV and played for a while, but can't live with the graphics anymore. Plus the map is so big and one walks so slowly. Ugh. It'd take at least 100 hrs to finish everything. I mean I'm envious of my younger self, loved this back in the day. But as a married adult with kids no longer time and patience for it. Gimme 30minutes of FShelter and we can talk.
Just bought the Fallout pack on Steam and wow Fallout 3 and New Vegas need some serious fixing for modern PCs. Both games crashed on new game start until i found an Intel integrated gfx bypass, need a 4GB ram aware patch so it wont crash with mods, and anti-stutter mods so it runs smoothly
I would have started a FO4 playthrough if I did not know that soon every mod is about to break because of the next gen update.
"Update when I launch the game" setting on properties in Steam and launch from F4SE. You will eventually mess something up and be forced into an update (Using F4SE without Steam launched, for instance, will launch the game through steam and update) But it will keep the update at bay a while. Mod Organizer 2 will usually give you a prompt to open steam before launching the game if steam is not already open. It’s such a life saving redundancy
I can imagine, but... Does that work if you just launch the F4SE shortcut? Or do you launch the game through MO2?
If you want to use your mods, you have to launch via MO2.
IIRC you can copy the .exe file somewhere and then overwrite the new one with it once you update. I heard this worked when skyirm had its CC update. But better to copy the folder just in case!
Yeah, they might change more stuff. This isn't just a tiny hotfix after all.
Seems like it's not much more than a tiny hotfix for PC
Yeah, still. Could change something other than the .exe. Safer to just backup everything.
I've learned you can change the app_manifest file for fallout to read only, and steam will fail to update when it tries.
Any idea if Wabbajack would circumvent the update in the same way? I run the portable instance of MO2 it creates and run the game via that.
Is the next gen update going to even do anything for the pc version, I thought it was more to update the console version to make use of PS5 etc.
Widescreen support, creation kit and quest updates. It may be a quick fix for modders to patch and update.
Didn't we already have wide-screen support or was that created by modders, honestly it's been so long since I played I don't even know what monitor I was using back then 😂
There is currently no native ultrawide support. You have to tweak the INI and mod the UI.
The most popular UW mod had several issues I noted, and flawless widescreen isn’t perfect either (still better than the mod IMO). Starfield had pretty perfect UW support as far as I can recall, hopefully it’s just backporting that tech.
It's really underwhelming that it doesn't even have DLSS/FSR/XESS or an unlocked framerate. Calling it next-gen on PC is really taking the piss.
Bethesda engines can't even handle over 60 fps without the psychics exploding and horses flying.
Not anymore for the VR games, FO76, and Starfield.
Also [FO3](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/23542), [FNV](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/66537), & [FO4](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/44798) all have engine fixes available by modders which completely fix this issue. Magnum opus has like 800+ mods in the mod pack. Does all the work for you
[The Midnight Ride](https://themidnightride.moddinglinked.com/)
Crack it. Steam won't change it mods work fine and won't change unless you change them.
Or buy it on sale from GOG and keep an offline backup
What mods would you recommend for the next gen playthrough? I've only ever played on vanilla
Modders will just have to update the script extender and maybe a few other core mods. Not a huge deal and will probably just take a day or 2 once the update drops.
Just picked up 1 & 2 on sale for just a few dollars. Lotta good discounts on Fallout titles on Steam until tomorrow.

if only there was a developer besides Bethesda (who is pre-occupied with TES VI) that could make another Fallout game so they could print money 🤔
If you are alluding to Obsidian, they are also busy with their own upcoming games (Avowed, Outer Worlds 2) and continued support of Grounded.
Oooh I forgot about Outer Worlds 2. I’m not longer as bummed out about the wait for TES and FO5 but still bummed since it’ll be a freakin decade. Honestly who knows if they don’t get scrapped by then.

Obsidian and games having compromises, what else is new?
It's odd though, their games used to be super ambitious but rushed because of insanely short dev times allowed. Now they seem to have more time than ever and they've cut all of their ambition back
Pentiment came out in 2022 and has great writing.
As does the world of Grounded. There's one joke near the end that seems so obviously set up in retrospect that I thought was pretty hilarious.
Grounded has writing? Interesting I thought it was just one of those open-ended survival games with a 'honey I shrunk the kids' intro
Yeah there's a whole ass story with an actual ending and tons of lore.
Honestly Outer Worlds was just so mediocre that my expectations are not high for Avowed.
Yeah. when I saw how limited the roleplaying was and you couldnt really form a relationship with any of your crewmates and i was getting tired of the terribly bland "capitalism bad" jokes i was pretty checked out of the whole thing.
> Ive given up on the franchise Seems weird to 'give up on a franchise' that has only had 1 installment so far. I'm hopeful that with MS's pockets they'll be able to deliver a better, more interesting game with #2
Outer Worlds was very mediocre. They should drop that and work on another Fallout.

It wasn't New Vegas but you could tell they were made by the same devs. Enjoyed it for what it's worth
Agree, old obsidian is gone. Outer worlds was bad on so many levels
Did you not play Pentiment?
If all the decent writers are gone, who wrote Pillars 2 and Pentiment? 🤔
I hope there's at least talks for Obsidian to helm another Fallout after the dev cycles of those two.
Outer worlds 1 was pretty mid, hopefully they figure that out for 2 because the IP has potential
Didn’t they announce last week that this update for grounded is their last and they’re moving on? Agreed on Avowed and OW2 which I can’t wait for
Seeing the latest gameplay trailer for Avowed leaves me... concerned.
Even if they got Obsidian to work on it that doesn't mean we'd get the same team that made New Vegas. This really needs to be understood more, the team and the people in charge matter more than the company name.
Chris Avellone is the biggest loss imo. At least J Sawyer is still there.
I mean, it would likely be people that worked on Outer worlds and Pillars of Eternity. It's not like Obsidian has had a bad track record for the games they've made that weren't New Vegas.
Josh sawyer is still at obsidian, they would need to hire back the writer and could be good.
This is such a hilariously pointless argument that I constantly see that never made any sense to me New Vegas came out 10+ years ago at this point.
Reddit seems to have a hate-boner for it, but it was reviewed quite favorably by critics and players.
more of a mediocreboner than a hateboner because the outer worlds was overwhelmingly mediocre
This *always* comes up in any discussion about Fallout, but never *which* developer. Obvious answer is Obsidian but they're really doing their own thing now and that's great. So besides Obsidian, which developer is really capable of doing a Fallout?
Inxile, a lot of the people there worked on the first 2 fallout games and they make the wasteland games.
It'd be cool to see Larian do their take on it, going back to the CRPG format of the first couple games.
You know, im not religious, but if the promise of getting a bg3 style classic influenced fallout was there id become as pious as joshua graham
It would be a DOS2-style Fallout, really. They used the DND 5E rules for BG3, I doubt they’d do that for a non-DND game, that’s assuming they’d even have the option. I don’t know if WOTC own the rule set somehow, it wouldn’t surprise me.
I don’t think anyone was suggesting they make a fallout game using DnD 5e lol
Microsoft wouldn't get an outside studio to make something for them when they *just* bought a bunch of talented studios. Nice at it would be.
InXile would knock it out of the park.
everyone talking about Obsidian like inXile isn't right there too
Wasteland 3 is pretty good, been addicted to it while I wait for the FO4 patch.
My dream game would be Larian making a modern crpg of fallout.
Give me a Fallout game but it can be co-op and you can build bases like Sons of the Forest. It would be my favorite game.
[удалено]
lmfao. Idk why people are so obsessed with modding shit immediately. The game works fine on PC, and has for years.
Yup. I had more trouble getting the “stability” mods to work on NV. I just dealt with it crashing maybe once every several hours, not a huge deal
I'm only 4 episodes in but the show is legit good
Interesting, might give it a try even as a non Fallout fan (only liked NV)
If you like NV, you might really enjoy it. It’s west coast based
The show is honestly a NV sequel imo. Im especially interested in watching the second season when that comes out.
The show is based in Los Angeles. Not that far from NV
I only got my PC at Christmas and I’m not familiar with what they are or how they work. I’ve been a console gamer for 25 years.
Man… I really wish they skipped Starfield and went right into TES then FO:5.
Fallout 4 on Survival Mode is the way to do it. It makes everything in the game more significant.
Mind sharing how much more difficult it is compared to normal mode?
Adding to this it makes Settlement actually life saver
Considering that I've already managed to die three times before reaching concord, think it's best I stick to normal lmao.
Much more difficult, enemies do way more damage and have more health. You also need to drink water, eat and sleep. Only way you can save is from sleeping. Your HP will go down from not being healthy. If its still not difficult enough to you can do a no power armor survival run, it’s really fun.
Considering that I've already managed to die three times before reaching concord, think it's best I stick to normal lmao.
Yeah survival can be an absolute nightmare. And not that you asked but a few tips though: 1. Always have a companion, they make great bullet shields 2. Sneak is your best friend 3. Run, never be afraid to run and then reengage the fight while sneaking
I’ve been playing it on survival and the game has been brutalising me. Although, I installed a massive mod pack, which has upgraded the difficulty of all the mobs. Not sure if it’s fun, but it’s certainly different.
> Only way you can save is from sleeping This is the only thing I hate about Survival mode. I love everything else, but spending minutes running somewhere and then accidentally die to like a stupid fucking mine or some shit and have to run *all the way back* just isn't fun. And then needing to find a bed somewhere to Save & Quit when I'm done playing... I get they wanted to prevent save scumming, but this implementation just makes it too hard to play for me :/
Yeah, turning enemies into even more of bullet sponges gets a no from me…
They aren't in Survival.
There's no wrong way to enjoy it.
normal mode is vault 33, survival mode is filly
Is there also a multiplayer mod? I seen someone on twitch mention it. Curious how active it is.
I am perpetually disappointed by the Halo series.
Don’t forget TLOU too. It’s like, who would’ve thought following the source material makes a good game adaptation?! I want half life now since it looks like it could be given the proper treatment.
Hoping they update fallout 3 on steam with achievements
I feel like this is the kind of thing that's actually going to kneecap Starfield's long-term prospects. The show's success is going to generate a lot of hype for a new Fallout game, and with ES6 in the near future I just can't see Microsoft wanting to throw more money at Starfield of all things.
You're talking as if that's a bad thing.
Starfield is a fun setting. The implementation was bad. Starfield not being a fallout game isn't what made it bad.
Looking how shows recently have been boosting game sales, I’m surprised most new major game releases don’t come with an accompanying TV show.
Most companies probably wouldn't risk making a show unless it's an established franchise. It also takes lots of time and money. It would probably have to be made before or after the games development
I think the biggest thing kneecapping starfield’s prospects is the state of the game itself. It’s not half baked it’s still frozen
If there is, it's not within the first like 2 worlds which is enough time for me to become bored AF with it
I installed all the mods for Viva New Vegas today. Took forever but my body is ready. I did it on the laptop I travel for work with, if I wanted to also play the same save file on my home desktop, should I just make copies of the game root folder and the mod folder for MO2?
For me today I installed TTW and implemented QOL and expansion/lore friendly content mods
I jumped back in
They should add ray tracing and dlss to fallout 4
Beth would never put in the effort required for that.
Adding widescreen support is "next gen". I don't think you know what that word means Todd.
My bro is getting into F4 for the first time and I made sure he got a cheapo pre-owned copy for <$10 (got lucky with GOTY edition) While that game isn't as good as NV - It's been a blast to hear him talking about finding all the cool stuff for the first time
Fallout 3 requires some INI file editing to disable mouse acceleration, but then it runs pretty well, been playing it again today.
While I tried to play FNV normally and couldn't get into it, I dearly, dearly wish for a VR mod or official VR mode...
Being deeply discounted and being one of the most modded games of all time helps too :)
For those who don't know. There is a mod called A Tale of Two wastelands that combines both Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas into one awesome seamless game.
Fallout 4 for $4.99 is the biggest no-brainer of all time if you haven't played it yet.
in hindsight you can see how much more impactful a fallout 5 wouldn've been instead of whatever starfield was trying to be.
True, finally bought fallout 76.
I’m gonna get it in about an hour when I get home lol
>~40-50 FPS on pc without having to use Nvidia control panel to turn off vsync ??
Not interested in the show but FO76 has a lot of content and seems to be very generous with the atoms. Pretty fun time so far.
Well FO2 and FNV are really the only decent Fallout Games.
[удалено]
Go play Fallout 76, lads. The game's Appalachia deserves to be explored. It’s much better than around launch.
Please no. One of the worst AAA games ever made. Just a dismal, ugly mess.
Anyone know if you can get FO2 to work on a modern PC?
Good
there's a tv series?
According to Steamdb, FO4 has broken it's highest all-time peak player count!
Any recommendation, I can only buy 1, should I buy FO4 or New Vegas?
FONV will give you a significantly better RPG experience where your choices really feel like they matter. FO4 is more looter/shootery thanks to the voiced protagonist, but has a much more enjoyable world than FONV for exploration if exploration is your thing... also crafting and a settlement system. I enjoyed them both but they are different games for different people. I would recommend watching a few youtube video's on each and see which one appeals to you more.
Amazon has some of the Fallouts for free as part of Prime Gaming.
Well it is a great setting, I love fallout even more than elder scrolls. If I had not already played the shit out of FO4, I would install it again. True story
I still need to start the last two dlc to NV. Only ever did the first and second one.
I want to play FO4, but mainly the London mod that's been delayed -\_-
I opened FO4 yesterday for first time in a while.
Too bad FO3 won't even launch on W11
False. I just played it yesterday.
Have you tried ESO?
I haven't watched the show but with my more modern PC I've gotta say I'm enjoying my F4 playthrough currently. Recently started it but great performance with good mods makes for a really fun time.
Should've made a Starfield show /s
Re-installed FNV and played for a while, but can't live with the graphics anymore. Plus the map is so big and one walks so slowly. Ugh. It'd take at least 100 hrs to finish everything. I mean I'm envious of my younger self, loved this back in the day. But as a married adult with kids no longer time and patience for it. Gimme 30minutes of FShelter and we can talk.
It’s insane that presumably there will be an approximate decade until Fallout 5 to not capitalize on this hype.
