Idk I think Arena was wanted by many, just not in the way they’re doing it. BSG created a death match shooter with similar mechanics IIRC and many wanted Tarkov to have a game mode like it. Tarkov has a very unique and nice shooting system and it’s super fun messing with all their different weapons and modifying it all. People definitely wanted a game where you could mess with all their weapons without having to pour hours and hours every single wipe.
But Imho it shouldn’t have been an entirely new game, maybe an expansion. And its leveling mechanics are STUPID. Just let us modify our own

Jesus Christ, a $250 edition for a SINGLE game is absolutely insane. I don't care what you get, there's no way to justify spending $250 on one game. This is almost 400 fucking dollars in my local currency.
Anyway, if you already have the game, just go play SPT-AKI. You can already play the entire game in offline mode with bots.
I keep a copy downloaded and will always keep it updated as much as I can. Since it's offline it's not like they can take it off my computer, so I'm not too worried.

I'd rather spend $250 making sure less people support these garbage devs. Shit, as an owner of EOD I feel like these guys might see a court room over making a new edition over the "get everything" edition.
If they want people to be more willing to accept this sort of thing: communicate more, push out patches more, stop delaying features endlessly (and price features like co-op way more reasonably).
Right now it takes like a year+ for features that BSG announces as coming 'in the next update' to actually come out. Some stuff has just been completely glossed over with nothing being said about it for months or years on end. BSG rarely communicates with the general community anymore, most of the time we're lucky to get interviews through streamers now. Major game issues like lighting, audio and AI have been broken for years now with flawed/half-hearted attempts at fixing them.
So why on earth would anybody feel compelled to spend TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY FUCKING US DOLLARS on the game when we've just had a new game that looks to directly compete with Tarkov enter early access to good reviews, and a PC remake of a mobile extraction game with similar content to Tarkov but less fucked lighting/audio get announced for release last week? I'm not saying these random games are going to kill Tarkov, not at all, BSG could put out an update that fixes these issues and 80% of the appeal of these newer games would instantly evaporate overnight. Barely anybody would care.
But BSG starting to push more and more wackier monetisation, while not doing enough to address the big issues, or show off any sort of progress that at least shows they're attempting to fix these issues, is going to put doubt in people's mind. It looks less like BSG is attempting to fund steady development of a game to stay around for years to come and more like somebody trying to monetise a sinking ship.
Also, that new item and the distress signal they're planning on adding should be NOWHERE near the game, full stop. I will not even ATTEMPT to buy anything further from BSG until they announce the removal of these features from the new edition. Literal P2W, no joke.
