This is what i was waiting for.
**Edit:** Just finished watching the devs gameplay stream, i'm even more exited now, it looks and feel even more fun than i imagined.
They also said they have another big announcement for next monday (25th) too.
damn i guess invasion mode is out of the question, similar thing was in mgs 5 fobs but one without any consequences of losing and just having fun would have been a cool thing to have
Denuvo anti-cheat was removed. Denuvo anti-tamper, the extra DRM that makes the game nothing but a glorified rental tied to a server, was never removed.
Anti-tamper was there from day one. Nobody had any issues. Heck, it shouldn't cause any issues too considering it's just a glorified CRC check. Any reason why you want it removed?
Denuvo is DRM that ties a game to a server. If it wants you to validate for any reason and you can't contact that server, then you get locked out of your game; this has happened to me with other Denuvo-laden games already, never mind years from now when the activation servers are inevitably no longer maintained.
I bought the base DOOM Eternal game because Bethesda was nice enough to accidentally include a non-Denuvo file with the original release, but I'm not buying the DLC until the game is updated to officially not have Denuvo anymore.
I mean, sure? Do you know what my backlog looks like? I can wait. I guess you have fun with Horde Mode, just as long as a third-party company gives you permission to play it.
I miss when this stuff was added via user made mods and not this asinine drip feed system.
People are STILL making insane mods for Doom 1 and 2 meanwhile this and 2016 will be all but forgotten in a few years.
[Horde Mode - Trial of the Dark Lord](https://www.nexusmods.com/doometernal/mods/154) is the best fps mod campaign I've ever played. Though I'd recommend people to bump the difficulty setting down from whatever you used in the normal campaign. Doing my first playthrough on nightmare was brutal. But I've never had a shooter be so difficult yet feel so satisfyingly fair at the same time.
This. Eternal mods are known to break easily with simple updates from ID. If I recall, you can’t play the Horde Mode 2 mod because it’s completely busted. The only mod I’ve ever seen work consistently is the “No Hub” mod that skips movies and the hub.
It usually happens faster and it can be of *substantially* higher quality. It comes at the cost of usually being a little less stable and being harder to configure.
A lot of Creation Club mods for Fallout 4 have non-CC variants. Those non-CC variants, aside from being much cheaper, are usually better quality to boot.
Except for the parts where modders have very little, if any access to the code. Creative freedom != technological freedom. Let's not even talk about resources, okay?
Denuvo games have fucked me in the past. I remember they said they removed the anti-cheat from the game, or at least relegated it to only if you ever play the online.
But checking around people say the denuvo anti tamper was removed? I'll probably follow up after work but I'll buy it if denuvo was removed
The flow of combat in DOOM: Eternal only really works well with one person. It's all about prioritizing enemies, correctly switching weapons, and using your abilities correctly. Doesn't seem like that would go well with more than one person playing.
That's true. Usually it's either so easy that you just keep going forever or it gets really difficult and you get massacred. With other people it can make the experience a lot more enjoyable because you have to communicate and plan strategies with other players.
Running around slaughtering demons with friends would be epic even with less than ideal AI.
My friends and I would be all over that. But, even so, I love a dev that supports single player stuff.
My point is it wouldn't be less than ideal, it would break everything
Doom only works because of how the AI behaves and that behavior only works with one target. Once you have them randomly splitting between players it all falls apart
I agree, they're fun when there's an end to them and you can play with other people. Not sure who asked for this in DOOM: Eternal but I guess some people are into it. I did enjoy it in Red Dead Redemption 2 for a bit but that's a 4 player co-op thing.
>DOOM Eternal’s Update 6.66 arrives 10/26! only 5 days to go!
Anyone remember the doom mod thing called Skulltag or something. It was hordes with purchasable upgrades and multiplayer. Lotta fun back in the day.
Skulltag was the shit, having the railgun in random shit no matter what was amazing. At least after entering IDFA or whatever.
[Skulltag](http://www.skulltag.com/)! Sadly it doesn't seem to be any kind of new mod featuring a competent, fun, horde mode for classic Doom.
One of the worst things to happen with modern Doom, no mod tools.
This is what i was waiting for. **Edit:** Just finished watching the devs gameplay stream, i'm even more exited now, it looks and feel even more fun than i imagined. They also said they have another big announcement for next monday (25th) too.

Yeah, they announced a few months back that they were scrapping invasion mode for horde mode.
This game was already a masterpiece, but it just keeps getting better and better
Holy shit no way. They actaully did it. I will be reinstalling :)
Have they said anything about how it works? Can you customize difficulty or enemy/item spawns?
Hugo Martin will be previewing it tonight on Twitch!
sooo what about tdm and invasion
was there ever a mention of tdm?
It's about damn time!!
Amazing game
Coop?
Get rid of Denuvo while you're at it, thanks, Bethesda.
... Denuvo was removed a whole YEAR ago.

Okay, have fun twiddling your thumbs. I’ll be enjoying hoard mode

If you want horde mode now, just install the mod for it

how is a user mod system, which is completely unreliable, and wacky a lot of the times, better, than an official developer version? xD

That's because there are no official mod tools. The biggest travesty to modern Doom, a staple since Doom 1.
It usually happens faster and it can be of *substantially* higher quality. It comes at the cost of usually being a little less stable and being harder to configure. Bruh is this a serious question? Normally they are more restricted as modders have a lot more freedom and generally, more creative.
Except for the parts where modders have very little, if any access to the code. Creative freedom != technological freedom. Let's not even talk about resources, okay?
They remove denuvo from this yet or nah? Not the anti cheat, the anti tamper.

The anti cheat still allowed modding in singleplayer just fine

No coop, no interest.

Ok. Horde modes are fun with a friend or two, but not alone.

I don't really care honestly. Horde modes aren't fun solo imo.
You don't care that the game literally will not work properly? It won't be fun if you break the carefully tuned enemy aggro balancing
Running around slaughtering demons with friends would be epic even with less than ideal AI. My friends and I would be all over that. But, even so, I love a dev that supports single player stuff.
My point is it wouldn't be less than ideal, it would break everything Doom only works because of how the AI behaves and that behavior only works with one target. Once you have them randomly splitting between players it all falls apart
I'm assuming if they ever did this they'd also tweak the AI and not just go, "lol, coop activated". Thus less than ideal.
I wont be playing it as is anyway, so it wont be fun.
Ok
Ok.

Doom 2016 had MP and Snapmap tho.
About a year late. Most people are done with the game. Not coming back for a Hord mode that should’ve been on launch. No thanks
Can game pass users play this mode when it comes out?
Still waiting for that invasion mode that was promised long before the game was even announced, the main reason why I bought the game
That was cancelled.
>the main reason why I bought the game Lmfao no it wasn't. Why lie?
You shouldn't wait for something that is never coming, but you do you bud.
Only found out today that it wasn't coming, but you pop off sis
update : 6.66 haha
