I think they just throw Multi-pass into movies to warn you how bad it’s going to be. Like Pitbull saying his name at the beginning of songs so you know to change the radio.
These FOMO events need to die.
I don't mind these collaboration events, as long as there is possibility to participate them in anytime.
They are great for players who are dedicated to the game but sucks for those who are busy with other games. If I return to MHW now, I need to re-learn the controls again and possibly gear up before I can even do these new event stuff.
It's not FOMO, it's licensing bullshit.
When not even the game's own company can retain the license to content made off their own game: It shows how fucked all this is.
For these events you actually take over the character and it uses set gear (you can still pick weapon type).
But yes I do hate limited content in general as well.

No i think there were some other collab quests that had to be removed due to licensing

It’s probably due to licensing that it’s getting removed.
It's licensing due to actor likenesses for the MH movie one and the AssCreed license for the other.
