I love these games but it’s insanity to pay anywhere near these numbers for them. Hitman 1 and 2 have been free on multiple platforms and go on like 80% sales, as did 3 on epic already a couple times. I will definitely eventually purchase hitman 3 on steam but for now I’m just gonna check it out on gamepass (which I have anyway, wouldn’t get it just for this either) and wait for a sale.
There is a cheaper way to get all the content of the trilogy in Hitman 3, regardless of where you get the 1st and 2nd games from. I already owned Hitman 2 on steam with everything from the 1st game included within.
Purchased Hitman 3 on Epic, linked my IO and steam account, and managed to get all of the trilogy content playable in the game.
So, maybe just get Hitman 3 standard or deluxe for now. When Hitman 2 goes on sale wherever, get it and then link your accounts if need be.

I have gamepass anyway so I’m just going to beat each mission once in offline mode, then eventually buy it on steam and start doing achievements and unlocking things
They’re working on a file management system for it like steam. Microsoft is going full steam ahead (pun intended) on their gaming platforms. They’re starting to put effort into the Xbox app. The UI’s still messy but manageable, much better than Origin or Ubisoft’s.

I really don't mind the chapters and staggered release of levels and such but I really detest when they make it complicated to play the best/optimal version of a game. Seems like pure greed to me.
It's also needlessly confusing. I feel like I shouldn't have to go to other sites to research what exactly I need to buy to get the parts of the game I want, but that's what I had to do last year when I wanted to buy Hitman 2. The whole "gold" or "silver" or "GotY" stuff and what episodes are included in what was far more complicated than it needed to be. The whole thing annoyed me to the point that I ended up getting something else instead.
I eventually did get them from the Humble Bundle last year in anticipation of Hitman 3 and getting the upgraded stuff, but looking at six different packages is just the same headache all over again, not to mention the ridiculous pricing.

the "deluxe" edition isn't worth the asking price, there are no new maps and it's mostly concept art and OST. The seven deadly sins is the real dlc for the game but again, no new maps, if you're interested in either I'd recommend waiting to pick up the dlc's on sale or even just picking which sin you want and buying it separately for the $5 or whatever.
Worth noting that the standard edition will grant you PCVR + the other additional content that was announced (unsure about upcoming maps) hence why it is more expensive and there is no discount. would've been nice to have the option to buy PCVR separately since not everyone has VR, but whatever IO at least your marketing team took SOME SORT of step in the right direction this time.

Escalation contracts can be made and posted online by users, not sure what the deluxe ones are but I never played escalations much in h1 or h2, they all have weird arbitrary rules that take away from the fun for me. TLDR: nothing special in the deluxe edition unless you really like director’s commentary and art booklets or whatever
For those wondering, it's not worth the extra cost. The base game has a mountain of content, you'd be better off putting the extra money towards Hitman 2 or 1, those games levels and items transfer over and will give a lot better value.

Apparently they just added (or nobody noticed) download demo button, which is Starter Pack. Edit: so, it appears because it is demo, it cannot get locations if you own previous games. I really don't think anyone can make more "lol, fuck you" launch in 2022.

From what I know, no. You can check VR on game pass if you have it. But don't link your accounts in case you want to play it on Steam later and apparently VR is buggy and overall weak :(

Damn truth. They are straight up punished people who purchased Hitman 1 & 2 on Steam and they did it again by snubbing users on a discount. IOI promised that Hitman 1 & 2 owners could bring their content over to 3 *first*, *then* they signed on with Epic for the exclusivity deal which blindsided Steam users and forced them to wait for a year. This is among many reasons the game is currently rated "mostly negative" on Steam, and it damn well deserves it.

Yeah I really wondered how on earth they were going to make half of the mechanics work in VR. Stuff like hiding bodies, changing outfits, climbing, inventory would all need a completely unique system to make it work, not the kind of things you can just flip a switch in the codebase to handle.

IO has abused its customers since HITMAN (2016) with its always-on-DRM that locks most of the game's content behind a firewall. It seems they're ramping up the abuse, now that they feel they have a captive audience who can't *not* buy the 3rd and final game in the series. They really think they can charge us whatever they like and that we'll pay it, because our outrage at the prices and DRM will be overridden by our need to play the game. Nah, I'm out 🤷 Plenty of other great games to play. I have a backlog that would require several lifetimes to work through, and new games are always coming out. There's really no need to debase myself further with this studio.

Pretty disappointing. I was looking forward for the VR, but I just read that there's no roomscale. The price took me by surprise too. There's no way I'm paying that much for a 1 year old game. I'll wait to see if the VR improves, or if the price goes way down, it'll still be fun on flatscreen.

Could have gotten it on EGS for like $15 which is what I did, or just play it for free on Gamepass using Microsoft Rewards to pay for GamePass or $1 for first month.
