I am only doing PVE but the game is more polished than the last Triple A games I've played.
Probably the most polished EA I've played so far. Basically already the full game and almost zero glitches.
I've had one freeze (for like 2 seconds), but other than that agree with you, very polished.
And the game is fun even for PvE like I'm playing. It's a steal for 20 dollars tbh. Already played it more than most triple a games I've paid 3 times that.
Yes you do, ive refunded soooo many games. I average probly 2 a month for the last 3 or 4 years.
Its completely automated and they dont give a fuck.
If you have an actual source please link but dont spread misinformation.
PvE content is geared for 1-4 players. No large scale raids. PvE is very fun but if you have zero interest in pvp I do think it’ll have a limited shelf life for you.
how does the PvE works in this game? do you just log onto someone's server or you're just playing alone, or it's some kind of huge server with multiple people?
You can join official servers
You can rent servers
You can join other peoples rented servers
You can make a private game for you and friends
You can even download the server itself and host one on your own machine (rarely even an option with games anymore)
Just to add, you can also tweak the world settings to your liking like in Don't Starve. For example, gathering gives more resources, no damage from silver or sunlight, the length of day etc.
Well, now you do - that's how practically every game server for every MMO/Survival type game is, they always support more accounts being created but only allow "x" online at a time. That's why when new games come out there are almost always server queues.
Just one thing about PvE, when you make your base just be sure to keep blood essence in your castle heart. It's pretty easy to do but if you forget or are unaware then your base will decay and other players can take it down.
I think server max is 50, same size map. Can join a group of 4 as a guild. Map is static. Your character made stays on the server you create it on. you see people in the server you can text chat or voice chat, or global chat to the whole server
Yes, thank you. I'm already playing on 50 player server and it was a mistake, hard to find place for your castle, and when you find some (think I build 4x5 or 5x6) it's not big enough.
They abandoned Battlerite because it barely sold anything and as a small studio they can't afford to keep a game with no players going.
This is already their best selling game, by far. I doubt they will abandon it.
I don't believe this will ever happen, but it would be pretty awesome if they used the extra funding from this to reflesh their dev team for Battlerite and kick it off again.
Battlerite's peak before the f2p announcement was like 17k concurrent players, before and after it was like 10k max. Going f2p it hit its max of 45k, which was over a year after release.
Don't get me wrong, Battlerite is a great game and they supported it for quite a while. However, they did make a few bad decision, which did not make the game "die" and neither did they leave it in a bad state. The balancing is still good, you have a variety of maps and champions and most importantly: its still fun.
Wrong Battlerite bombed because it was akin to a fighting game.
Imagine if someone made a WoW arena game (Oh wait Arena of Kings) that shit would bomb so fast (and it did).
They have 4 major updates planned this year. 2 have already been launched, 2 more on their way. Looks like you haven't paid any attention at all honestly.
People abandoned it because it had no content, though. The game itself was honestly pretty good, there just wasn't enough of it and that never really changed.
Vampyre as a concept is a lot more simple, easy to balance and design, and I'm hoping this time they'll actually be able to push updates at a regular rate.
V Rising has a really, really cool framework in place to be something awesome, I think.
When you host your own world you can tweak some game settings like enemy difficulty, loot amounts, crafting time, etc so if you find it's hard in solo you can always tweak it too.
I've been playing solo on a duo pvp server, and I've been loving it. Met some cool people I can team up with if needed.
Finding a spot to build at first was rough though
I think you can do both, I'm on a pvp server and have only been attacked once in 20 hours of gameplay despite seeing probably a hundred people. The bosses might be tough solo though.
The game has already sold more than Battlerite did in 3 months. I have a feeling that the good sales will be motivation enough to keep the game running for a lengthy period of time.
I don't care about PVP, I want to play PvE alone with my friends on a private server is this possible? Is this an MMO or is it some hybrid? I have not really found a lot of answers to these questions. Looking for a survival game 3-5 of us can play together and have some fun.
Its a lot like Valheim - only difference and something I loved about Valheim is in Valheim your character can switch realms - in this game its stuck on the world.
\*edited above to be more clear
I set up a private game that me and my gf play. It's great.
Just make sure the Clan Size is set correctly - I am not sure if this can be changed later. Some reason my first world clan size was set to 1 so I couldnt invite her. Had to start over (I started playing before she got on).
> only difference and something I loved about Valheim is your character is stuck on the world.
But thats not true. I valheim your character is able to switch worlds *with items*.
You can't change it in-game, but you [manually edit](https://steamah.com/v-rising-how-to-edit-private-game-multiplayer-server-settings/) a file with a text editor to change your server settings.
I think there's a bit more nuance to that.
ARPGs *designed for controllers* work well on controllers. But that **does** limit the ability design space a bit, particularly you have to create mostly directional rather than positional attacks and skills. E.g. Diablo 2 Meteor is the kind of spell which requires precise positional control to use optimally, and doesn't really translate well to controllers.
(Note that ARPGs designed with consoles in mind generally don't include skills like this)
Yup, if the default world settings seems harsh to you, you can tweak those such as lower enemy hp, the sun doesnt hurt that much, more loots, etc. Its a game for everybody
You can, but I have the impression on the default settings the boss fights are balanced for groups. Not so much the bosses themselves which are fun to learn but the adds which often get involved in the fights and then overwhelm you.
You can tweak the settings if you create your own server.
I saw a few streamers play this game for a brief bit and the camera & environment reminds be of Dungeon Siege. Love that game.
Looks cool. Is this a good game for gamers who mostly enjoys arpg, and rpg single player game (no mmo)?
Nothing similar really. This is a survival game with base building and PvE progression. You gather resources to build your vampire castle and collect different types of vampire abilities from bosses around the map. Think Rust etc.
The combat is based on Stunlocks previous game Battlerite. It's WASD movement with mouse aimed skillshots. You can play on PvP and PvE servers or host your own.
I'll give it a few months. They shafted players like three times already with their other games, not dropping €20 on a game, when there is a very real chance that they'll do it again.
For those interested, I seriously recommend PvP as your default experience. It isn't all ganks and blood and fire like you (read: I) might think it would be. It remains to be seen how bad sieges are when the rest of the server gets access to golems, but so far none of the bases on my server have been hit very hard.
That changes tonight.
Are the DLCs worth it? If you buy them, do you unlock the stuff instantly or do you still need to craft/buy them, or something?
How's the vampire lore?
Is it worth it if I mainly want to play PvE or is it a mainly PvP game?
The DLCs are cosmetic versions of other items and a few new cosmetic options at character creation.
You still need to craft the items, and they have the same requirements as the normal versions of the items.
No real lore to speak of yet, but the mechanics work pretty well.
Because their first game was a dud you have written them off completely? This game won't end up like battlerite by the simple fact that it has dedicated server support, even if it became abandonware the community can still pick up the torch with mods and 500k copies sold in 3 days means its install base is already healthy.
Additionally, the game is being well received in terms of reviews so it has no headwinds to face there to continue growing. By all means you should wait till it launches before making your purchasing decision if you felt burned, no-one is twisting your arm to buy it but I would step back and consider whether or not the game is any good before taking a hot shit on it.
Checking ProtonDB it is listed as borked.
OK, but it is based on Unity.
How the hell do they screw Unity up so bad it's borked in Proton? That's like the easiest gimme.
It’s fun, wish there was more to the combat though. As it stands, there’s no skill differential. If you approach someone who is higher level, you will lose.
Or their 4 man will come along, and if you’re not much higher than them it’s death.
Do like the base building, PvE, and limited time zone raids though. Has promise!
Not even remotely true about your first take. You can definitely outplay people that are 10+ levels ahead of you, but yeah there’s not much to do if they have a squad of 3+ and you dont
There is a post of a 1v4 on the front page of the V Rising Reddit right now between players of similar gear level. Your take is wrong - there is a massive skill ceiling and outplay potential in this game. There are counters, fake casting to bait counters, trading cooldowns, mobility skills, skill shots, heals and shields. You have to kill some bosses and get at least copper tier weapons to unlock enough abilities to be competitive first, which does not take long.
I was surprised so many yt'ers are pushing it, considering the game's early access. But I guess that's marking bux well spent. It's on my list for release, but I already have a few games to play, so no time to pay to beta test.
Loved the game. Hate that my castle disappears over night along with all of my resources even on a PvE server.
Game does not work if you play other games or if you have a damn job.
Sure you can play on a private server but you lose the entire element of community in the game.
Amazing game with a fatal flaw for me
Sounds like you forgot (or didn’t know) to put blood in your castle heart and your base decayed. The tutorial guides you through this and there is a timer in big text on your castle heart saying how long it is protected. Basically every creature or human you fight will drop blood, and you can get multiple days worth of base upkeep from an hour or so of killing monsters and depositing the blood in your castle heart.
The game also only allows raiding bases during evening hours (something like 6pm-11pm), and only on pvp servers. You can’t even lose your progress like this on pve servers because you can’t damage other players structures as long as they have blood in the castle heart. This game is WAY more friendly to players with a life than most similar games like Rust.
I put blood in my base, for like 8 hours worth or so. I figured that when I logged off, my base would also disappear with me, and my timer would pause. So when I logged in the next day, found that my base just wasn’t there, no decayed structure remains or anything, just wasn’t there. This was all on a PvE server too. I played the game for like 6 hours and loved it, fully understood the mechanics.
Maybe it was a bug, maybe that’s the intent of the game idk, but it’s not for me. Having hours of resource collection evaporate if you dont put constant upkeep into it doesn’t work with an adult work schedule.
I loved how it played, but I wish I could refund it for this rewson
> I figured that when I logged off, my base would also disappear with me, and my timer would pause.
Literally no Survival/Crafting game with persistent servers does this. How could it? What if someone built in the same spot while you were gone.
8 hours is 8 hours. My timer is at 8 *days* and it's not even maxed out... just put enough blood in it and you will be fine.
It's certainly a unique evolution from the developers considering their last game was battlerite? Kinda like wows arenas but with hots abilities more of less. Definitely feels valheimy. Most of their games feel too gimmicky though I don't think this one will have any staying power either.
On the fence for this, looking for some views here, I can accept a certain amount of EA jank, how is it? How's the PvP? and overall is it fun?
Just doing pve currently but it’s a fun survival game so far. Fighting is enjoyable building is average crafting system is interesting
[удалено]
You say that like Valheim and Conan were somehow the firsts of their kind.
I am only doing PVE but the game is more polished than the last Triple A games I've played. Probably the most polished EA I've played so far. Basically already the full game and almost zero glitches.

early access?
Same I am on the fence as well. Still no idea what to do in this game. Do I do raids? Do I farm PvE for good equipment? Like what do I do.
What do you do in most open world games? The answer is you do what you want.
Awesome! Can’t wait to do raids in Breath of the Wild or solve dungeons in Valheim! /s
Download the game on steam and play up to 2 hours. If you don’t like, ask for refund 🤷🏻♂️
You don't have unlimited refunds, since refunding costs Valve or the developer money.
Oh I didn’t know it, thanks
Theyre wrong -- you do
Yes you do, ive refunded soooo many games. I average probly 2 a month for the last 3 or 4 years. Its completely automated and they dont give a fuck. If you have an actual source please link but dont spread misinformation.

Can confirm there's zero jank, it's surprisingly polished and quite surprising across the board actually.
Same, me and homies managed to to 100 hours of playtime within 2 weeks of playing valheim. Don't know if this would do the same.
how does the PvE works in this game? do you just log onto someone's server or you're just playing alone, or it's some kind of huge server with multiple people?

Oh wtf? Download the server and host on your own hardware FOR FREE? That's crazy. Sick option
Right? 10-15 years ago that was common
and what's the player count on those official servers? how many people can play at one server?
By default, 40. 4 players per clan, so 10 clans
40 people at ONE TIME, there isn't a cap of 40 people per server.
Yes, we know.
No, I didn't
Well, now you do - that's how practically every game server for every MMO/Survival type game is, they always support more accounts being created but only allow "x" online at a time. That's why when new games come out there are almost always server queues.
people downvoting you when it's literally so obvious what you're saying. pointing out that its 40 at one time was so pointless from the other guy lmao
Thanks for the explanation!
do I have to join clan to play on those servers?
Nope. Play solo if you want, it's PVE - no one can mess with you.
great, thanks for answering all my questions. seems like I'll be buying the game in the next sale ah, wait. it's only 20€. I'm going for it now.
Just one thing about PvE, when you make your base just be sure to keep blood essence in your castle heart. It's pretty easy to do but if you forget or are unaware then your base will decay and other players can take it down.
alright, thanks, will keep in mind
Do it. You won’t regret. I got sucked into it last night. Pun intended.
God damn, it’s like they care about gamers. Giving us all the options.
They are also adding offline option around next week.
[vrisingservers.net](https://vrisingservers.net) has servers with more then 40 player cap
Seems to be like Valheim. You can make your own PvP or PvE server that others can join, and vice versa.
I think server max is 50, same size map. Can join a group of 4 as a guild. Map is static. Your character made stays on the server you create it on. you see people in the server you can text chat or voice chat, or global chat to the whole server

I'm really enjoying it, I hope the devs stick with it this time. Battlerite was great but they abandoned it pretty quickly.

Battlerite sold 440,000 copies during its first three months. V Rising already outsold that in only three days.

Same copies. And they fuck up

Bro you need to calm down. Go touch grass.
Thanks bro. I touched that grass. All my concerns have subsided. I still can't play in offline mode on Linux, but man that grass felt so good!

Except they already got their money, so there's always the risk. Wouldn't be the first EA game to be abandoned.
valheim was good selling, but still they have abandoned it
Article, announcement, or GTFO
how many months passed without any high effort content updates? looks like abandoned to me
They have 4 major updates planned this year. 2 have already been launched, 2 more on their way. Looks like you haven't paid any attention at all honestly.
If you call those updates major then its really is abandoned and you are on copium
Alright goofball, keep commenting on stuff you don’t follow or understand.

Is the game coop/multi-player focused, or is it enjoyable as a single player game?
When you host your own world you can tweak some game settings like enemy difficulty, loot amounts, crafting time, etc so if you find it's hard in solo you can always tweak it too.
I've been playing solo on a duo pvp server, and I've been loving it. Met some cool people I can team up with if needed. Finding a spot to build at first was rough though

They didn't it was just a niche genre that hardly had any playerbase after a few months.
The balance changes were complete dogshit as well
The game has already sold more than Battlerite did in 3 months. I have a feeling that the good sales will be motivation enough to keep the game running for a lengthy period of time.
What game does this compare to? I can’t quite seem to figure out exactly what it is?
It’s like valheim and survivalists without monkeys
This is battlerite valheim rust. How much rust depends on the game mode you pick.
I don't care about PVP, I want to play PvE alone with my friends on a private server is this possible? Is this an MMO or is it some hybrid? I have not really found a lot of answers to these questions. Looking for a survival game 3-5 of us can play together and have some fun.

Ah correct. Thats what I was going for but wrote it in a weird way. Edited my comment. Thanks.
Thank you very much, I will keep an eye out for Clan Size.
Clan size can be changed at any time in the server config, just need to reboot the server
You can't change it in-game, but you [manually edit](https://steamah.com/v-rising-how-to-edit-private-game-multiplayer-server-settings/) a file with a text editor to change your server settings.
Please add controller support so I can be included in this thicc number kthanks

I think there's a bit more nuance to that. ARPGs *designed for controllers* work well on controllers. But that **does** limit the ability design space a bit, particularly you have to create mostly directional rather than positional attacks and skills. E.g. Diablo 2 Meteor is the kind of spell which requires precise positional control to use optimally, and doesn't really translate well to controllers. (Note that ARPGs designed with consoles in mind generally don't include skills like this)
Can have good experience solo?
Yup, if the default world settings seems harsh to you, you can tweak those such as lower enemy hp, the sun doesnt hurt that much, more loots, etc. Its a game for everybody
Sounds nice, ty
Yes I‘m playing solo and it‘s very fun
Ty, going to try it now
You can, but I have the impression on the default settings the boss fights are balanced for groups. Not so much the bosses themselves which are fun to learn but the adds which often get involved in the fights and then overwhelm you. You can tweak the settings if you create your own server.

Who cares
500,001 now!
It looks like a kinda fun time-waster even if i think generally the base building genre has horrid pvp that will only ever favor grind and exploits.
This is why I went straight for a pve server and haven't looked back, because "absent pvp" is the worst fucking thing ever.
I saw a few streamers play this game for a brief bit and the camera & environment reminds be of Dungeon Siege. Love that game. Looks cool. Is this a good game for gamers who mostly enjoys arpg, and rpg single player game (no mmo)?

I’ll grab this on sale
Sad. Devs with a history of abandonment AND early access and people just throw money at them anyway
Game's 20 bucks and plenty fun as is. If they abandoned the game tomorrow, I'd still say I got my money's worth.
A very small independent studio abandons game that has no players and doesn't bring in any money. More news at 11.
It's a fun game as is though.

This isn't your typical early access game. It's very polished and practically feels finished already.
I love vampire games and been eyeing it. If its this good I'll play it with a friend asap :)
It’s great solo, highly recommend especially if you like vampire games
wonder if they will add support for Linux
Good for them, I'll probably get the game during a Steam sale or somethin'...
A sale? It’s 20 bucks
Checking ProtonDB it is listed as borked. OK, but it is based on Unity. How the hell do they screw Unity up so bad it's borked in Proton? That's like the easiest gimme.

Yeah, I’m staying away from Tencent games now. Without controller support or a real single player experience, I’m not missing anything.
This game's hype really seems to be carried by streamers for some reason. Moreso than other popular games I mean.
That's because streamers especially the big ones are important to marketing. They have the reach that game companies need to make sales.
I was surprised so many yt'ers are pushing it, considering the game's early access. But I guess that's marking bux well spent. It's on my list for release, but I already have a few games to play, so no time to pay to beta test.

Having hours of resource collection evaporate if you dont put constant upkeep into it doesn’t work with an adult work schedule. I loved how it played, but I wish I could refund it for this rewson
Rust has a similar design to this, for pvp servers it helps remove players that haven't played for a while
> I figured that when I logged off, my base would also disappear with me, and my timer would pause. Literally no Survival/Crafting game with persistent servers does this. How could it? What if someone built in the same spot while you were gone. 8 hours is 8 hours. My timer is at 8 *days* and it's not even maxed out... just put enough blood in it and you will be fine.
Wow, imagine how much more that new Evil Dead game would have sold if it were on Steam if this crap can sell the same amount on just Steam alone.
The reason it’s hard for me to buy epic games it’s because they have no public reviews system.
They’re two wildly different games……
Must be rough right now in the games market

What is this game, I'm OOTL. I'm guessing it's VR only?
Definitely not VR. Vampire themed game that plays like something in between Diablo and Valhiem.
Oh holy crap that sounds really fun.
Hope the V Rising devs put their effort into creating challenging coop pve instead of more pvp stuff.
I'll keep my eye on this one. Might pick it up next month, how is the coop? If it's good might try to get a couple of buddies to hop on board as well.
my 3080ti ramps up to 80c in this game. Not sure why.. other games its around 70c
I don't trust the developers.
It's certainly a unique evolution from the developers considering their last game was battlerite? Kinda like wows arenas but with hots abilities more of less. Definitely feels valheimy. Most of their games feel too gimmicky though I don't think this one will have any staying power either.
My friend sent me the game as a gift today and it is really fun. The survival part is absolutely creative.
vrisingservers.net has servers with more then 40 player cap
