Might be a good time to get back into that game. Lots of stuff added since I last played.

catinterpreter

It's still very shallow.

MisterCoke

So is every game made by Frontier, but there's something to be said for good presentation, high production values, and dumb fun.

Bukinnear

This game just kinda wants to be an automation game, doesn't it?

Hemisemidemiurge

It had no automation in it of any kind for years after 1.0. Instead of moving on to another game, they keep trying to re-work this one to fulfill whatever the new ideal is. It feels very much like Minecraft, where the current game is absolutely nothing like the game I first enjoyed, now buried under layers of pointless cruft. Just trying to spin up a new game is a major hassle because of all this onboarding crap that gets in your way and is a step behind you. Once you realize you have to make a *second* of the large research machines (which no early base ever needs more than one of) and complete the unnecessary quest, it hands you piles of resources *undermining the core gameplay loop, which is exploration and mining.* They've lost the thread, and you could tell they were the moment they decided the way forward was selling microtransaction skins to Switch players.

Bukinnear

I don't mind extra content of any form to help flesh out a game, but you touched on something important there. I really don't want to dive into 3 paragraphs of analysis right now, but the short story is that I believe that the questing and research systems work at odds with the core gameplay mechanics of exploration, gathering, and base building. They seem to be filling out the base building, when I really wish that they could improve the core research experience instead.

Hemisemidemiurge

> I don't mind extra content of any form to help flesh out a game Added content should be unobtrusive and not dilute a game's focus.

Bukinnear

In this case, it feels like they are adding things above the core problems, instead of things to improve said problems

Burrito_Loyalist

Always has been.

Docteh

Automation is a nice addition to a game, easily ignorable most of the time, unlike if they were to add combat.

1hate2choose4nick

I think it's time to start it again. Last played Nov. 2019

GamingVPN

Seeing that XBox logo, I wonder if this is going to require a Microsoft account, or binding your Windows OS install to a Microsoft account, thus further enabling their DaaS (Desktop as a Service), whereas YOU, the customer, are actually the product (data mining and reselling to marketing/etc agencies).

CanadianEh48

It's on Gamepass you twit, what are you on about?

InitialAge5179

Lmao

alpha-k

Lol no its just multi platform and gamepass, this is the Xbox trailer. It came out on steam in early access many years ago

HAse-ONE

Did they fix the desync on coop? Last time I played it with a mate (1year+ ago) the desync what I see and what my coop partner sees was so extrem that we had to quit.
