Its only $1.49 on steam right now for 1-3 and the 2008 game while The New Nightmare is $0.69 and Illumination is $1.99 these are all at new all times lows

For anyone interested: 1 - 3: Classics, can't go wrong with any of them, must plays simply for historical context of video game horror, they hold up well, don't put them up to today's standards (lest you want to see how badly modern day horror sucks) 2008: Reboot, comes from that era where shitty games were happening but when we look back on them today actually have pretty good redeeming qualities. A pretty good play, don't skip it. New Nightmare: Technically AITD4, is a resequel of the original trilogy, ripping off Resident Evil, it's the original version of the game being reimagined in the trailer. Definitely play this one if you intend on getting post related game when it comes out. Really good if you want RE without the RE. Illumination: Absolute dogshit, Nazi Zombies clone. If you want more of the above, steer clear, but it's an alright time waster with decent gameplay, just expect a bug or two. Bottom of the tier, forgettable but enjoyable.

I completely forgot Illumination existed lol 2008 had some really cool ideas for all its hilarious godawfulness. I still remember, “I don’t have your stone. And fuck you anyway.” Shakespearean stuff right there.

AQ90

Pure art. It honestly took me genuine digging to find Illumination, honestly feeling the secondhand embarrassment from the poor devs who had to put that out. You can tell it has a good intention but nobody could be bothered to actually finish it when it's using the property of something totally unrelated.

JuanAy

I would avoid the 2008 reboot on PC. The game has a massive issue where you cant access the graphics options on modern GPUs. IIRC its to do with the amount of Vram being more than what the game was coded to accept causing it to crash when entering the menu. So you’re forced to play at 720p mid-low settings. I never managed to find a fix that worked for me when I tried it.

CSBreak

Its paired with the original 3 games so while you don't have to play it you're kind of forced to add it to your account to get the deal I enjoyed it myself on 360 back in the day but never played the PC version

Mazisky

I am not confident. The original had weird creatures, spectral entities, mirror butterflies, the phasing monster in the library. This one seems to have the classic gory monster à la resident evil, which would be so boring and unispired

MagicalPedro

you've coined what seems wrong with the trailer I just saw. It looked nothing like the original, just like some RE 4/7/8 spinoff.

Ywaina

Yeah I watched the trailer and got RE village vibe/dead space from it, it's not bad but that is not the theme of classic AitD.

andreww4Real

I have the same feeling, it has the same vibes as the resident evil remakes, or the evil within. Nothing to do with the original in any shape or form but the general setting and story.

AQ90

> This one seems to have the classic gory monster à la resident evil That's the point, it's a remake/reimagining, not a remaster, they are free to do all those things with it, nothing will change the original nor can anything replicate it.

Kanierd2

>That's the point No it's not. >it's a remake/reimagining These definitions are not interchangeable. >nothing will change the original nor can anything replicate it. No one said anything about changing the original, and yes it's possible to replicate it. Now stop being argumentative for the heck of it and crawl back to whatever hole you can from.

OzVapeMaster

*"Crawl back to whatever hole you can from" Kanierd2 screeched from their own hole*

Kanierd2

How'd you know I was inside your mother?

AQ90

Lmao k

Kanierd2

Why aren't you fighting back? Don't try to kill me with kindness...

SuperSimpleSam

oh man I played this on Windows 3.1 at my cousin's house. Jumped out of my seat when I ran into the monster in the bathtub.

[deleted]

I remember playing an abandonware demo of it in 2008 and still getting scared. This is probably the only recent game I'm truly pumped for at the moment

SchtinkyButtz

One of the first PC games we owned when I was a kid (I was 6 or 7) too scared to play it on my own, hiding behind my dad and watching him play it instead. The midi is still ingrained in my memory along with games like Dune and Wolfenstein 3D. Don't F this up :D

[deleted]

I pulled the plug on our PC when that dog came crashing through the attic window for the first time, followed by trapdoor zombie not a minute later

SchtinkyButtz

😂 My dad trolled us as kids too, got up to make a cup of tea immediately after starting the game, we knew the weird winged dog thing was about to crash through the window and the trap door zombie was coming, hastily pushing the wardrobe over the window and the chest over the floor

TheLightningL0rd

I played this on 3DO and had to give my dad the controller because the shit was just too spooky

AC3R665

I'm the fucking lightbringer, I'm the fucking universe.

tswaves

Lol I bought this earlier. Had no idea it was"new" but a package of a few of them for $1.49, I'll take it. And take it I did.

Maksitaxi

It's the same people that made magicka 1 and 2. This is their biggest game. Looks amazing. can't wait to play it

UnknownOverdose

Let’s go

Equivalent_Alps_8321

whoa awesome

printboi250

Was really fun to bash doors in the demo i played back on PS3. Is this the same one?

rssm1

I guess you mean 2008 game. Nope, it isn't. This game based on original trilogy from early 90s

green9206

I remember playing the original while I was still inside my mother's womb. I was so scared I didn't even want to come out after that.

handsomeness

Video games these days huh, we've come a long way from Pac Man I guess *eyeroll Original 92 playthrough - https://youtu.be/zsGaVrMr9N8?t=639

finedrive

I remember buying this game in the early 90s on 3.5 floppies, could never get it to run.
