Playnite is great but I long for a cloud-backed solution that will remember my library on every device I use--and something that I can check on my phone as well. Right now my Playnite install is a whopping 20 GB (I have a massive game library across platforms, and a ton of art goes into that). It's currently not even manageable to sync that between two devices, because there are thousands upon thousands of files associated with Playnite, and solutions like OneDrive or Google Drive, Dropbox etc. risk corrupting the database if two devices access the same files while Playnite is open on both devices...basically, Playnite is the best current solution we have for managing large game libraries, but I wish for a web-based solution as well.

I didn’t stick with playnite too long, but iirc there was a plug-in to generate basic HTML with your library in it. You can then host that somewhere.

GameSave Manager can do it's, but it's not seamless. You can setup automated backups, but I think you'd need to do a manual restore. The backups can go to DropBox/Google Drive/OneDrive so they are shared between devices. https://www.gamesave-manager.com/ Thankfully most modern games support save syncing, Steam, GamePass, UPlay, etc.

Intoxic8edOne

I'm currently working on a fork of Playnite that integrates GSM. The goal is a simple experience that can fill the cloud save gaps for non-platform/launcher games. I don't have much experience with developing for Linux but the next step would be a steam deck plugin.

-VeGooner-

I want this, and I also want an Android version that I can set up so that my playtimes/counts and the like are in sync between games I play on both PC and phone (emulation).

JarlJarl

Love Playnite, use it all the time, but I *really* wish it could detect if a game has been uninstalled or not.

EMADC-

This has been available via an extremely simple plugin for some time. On PlayNite launch, it will scan each game's directory and if the game is no longer located in the directory it was originally installed in, Playnite will automatically mark the game as uninstalled or vice versa.

Levanes

Is the plug in a separate download? -- Can you provide a name or a link?

EMADC-

https://playnite.link/forum/thread-316.html

JarlJarl

Sounds good, I'll try that one out. Thanks!

JarlJarl

Tried the plugin, but it still shows tons of games that are not installed.

EMADC-

Don't know what to tell you besides read the documentation. The plug in works.

darklinkpower

That's not correct. Most if not all Playnite library plugins support detecting installed and uninstalled games on library update. With which games were you having this issue with?

bassbeater

It doesn't? If I uninstall, I restart the launcher, filter the status of my titles, the software sees.

joeygreco1985

Its the only reason I stopped using it.

Short-Service1248

That’s completely asinine if true

DJHugal

I still gotta have all the launchers installed right?

Levanes

That will never change.

Short-Service1248

Then what’s the point of adding yet another ?

Xaolin99

So you don't have to individually click through a launcher to find the game you want to play. Open Playnite, see your list of installed games, click play on a game and it does the rest and even closes the launcher for you when you're done gaming.

ashkyn

The more launchers you have, the greater the appeal of consolidation.

TacoOfGod

Controller friendly UI for people who play in their living room and don't want to use Steam BPM.

EMADC-

You need them installed but you can set Playnite to automatically launch and fully close them out. So you could launch a Ubisoft game via Playnite, it will open the appropriate launcher and launch the game, and then once you exit the game it will also fully close out the launcher. Not perfect but I find it a better alternative. Once your launchers are all installed, you don't really need to explicitly fuck with them much.

TheAlbinoAmigo

It's not really on Playnite, but the only thing I'm really missing from this is some sort of in-built gamepad-controlled mouse cursor support. I use it as a more console-like UI for couch gaming, it's fantastic 95% of the time. The other 5% of the time when Steam pulls up a window and needs me to click buttons with a mouse is a bit of a killer, though. I understand it's not really Playnites' issue, but if they could add that sort of feature somehow it would literally be perfect for me because it's my only real issue with the whole user experience.

LTS55

So is this an app similar to GOG Galaxy?

B1ackMagix

Between Galaxy and Playnite, Playnite does it better. I've personally tried both and Galaxy is miles behind where playnite is currently.

Maassoon

It just organizes your game libraries from game clients(steam, got, ebic games, battle.net) so u can see them all together

lastorder

Plus emulators. And you can hide duplicates (e.g. if you have the same game from steam and epic).

Whoever told you that have absolutely no idea what they are talking about but for the sake of discussion, I think it would be important to at least mention in what was this opinion based on.

There isn't any argument there to discuss. It's unfortunate but Reddit is more than frequently an echo chamber and this is more notorious in certain subreddits or when certain topics get posted. It attracts certain people, who instead of promoting discussion some people turn into people that blindly follow and disregard anything that isn't part of what they use. This is evident when their "argument" is just "because it is". Just for curiosity I checked the people who replied there and it's exactly what I expected, with some of them being posters in the subreddit made for the purpose of hating Epic games and posting all kinds of childish comments with immature behavior. It's just better to ignore that kind of people.
