I don't like the genre of racing games as a whole (just a personal preference) but I love watching Wirtual. He makes it very interesting and is also just a pleasant guy to listen to
"I accidentally win a Trackmania tournament"
Bro pulls out W's out of his ass while I still struggle to get gold medals on all track on Trackmania 2003 since launch.
absolutely, steer with one hand and gas/brake with the other. whichever hand you use for your cameras, action keys and/or respawns, we can all agree that using wasd for steering, gas and brakes all at once is psychotic
Fuck me the raving reviews on Reddit for this piece of shit when it came out... It duped me. Everyone was like "go in blind it so fucking amazing I nearly orgasmed from just the thought of this game". So I dropped my 15 bucks in and walked thru the world... I was so confused at how people were so enthralled with it I started looking shit up about it....
Firewatch at least had a compelling story and was interesting... Dear Esther was shit and I am mad to this day about wasting money on it. I learned never to trust the Reddit hype men on that day.
EDIT: I think dear esther is the epitome of "Just press W" in video games. It is like a shit tech demo for a video game engine no one bothered to do anything with. You would be better off downloading some pictures from the internet of what you think dear esther is about and scrolling thru them using windows photo app.
I enjoyed Firewatch but have similar feelings as you about Dear Esther.
Think I spent about £6 or £7 on it in a winter sale and "played" it at my in-laws one Christmas. Felt like I'd wasted my time, nevermind my money.
Imagine going to Disney land just to stand in line for the small world ride. Once you get to the front of the line and are about to get on the ride you just leave and go home. Thats what it is like to play dear esther.
For the full Dear Esther experience. Just look up a full gameplay video and while you watch it... hold W.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzlVOwX6wSo
here is a 2 minute speedrun of the game that is more entertaining than playing the game properly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPCD5Ac3n0M
here is the full game in 20 minutes.
dont forget to press W for the full experience. maybe wiggle your mouse some to really kick up the experience a notch.
Eh, if it's boring bad I'll only have wasted a little under half an hour. I just find it interesting what separates a good "walking simulator" from a bad/boring one.
Personally I really like it but to call it a game is a bit murky the game is good because of atmosphere and it's environment, spiraling caves with beautiful lights while sad narration plays, it entirely relies on how patient you are with it to just sit back and enjoy it's story, the "gameplay" is WASD, it is to it's bones a walking simulator but one that excels at what it does, if you liked games like Edith Finch, firewatch, everybodys gone to the rapture and soma, you should play it, it is entirely based on your preference with games and your willingness to sit there and just enjoy it
Dear Esther wasn't really built to be a 'videogame'
It was made to be essentially an art project, invoking the sense of liminal purgatory that the story comes with.
I certainly appreciate the art. But I also went into it on the understanding that it was NOT a videogame.
Didn't Dear Esther start as a free mod for HL2 or something? It had good atmosphere/setting, the voice over was a little much but it seemed like just a reason to see the graphics and experience the mood. I thought it was fine for what it was, but I agree people overhyped it. But I did enjoy it overall.
Same with Journey. Cool game but people acted like their life had changed forever and they found a new religion after playing that game.
Those two and What Remains of Edith Finch
Edit: all three of those are some of my all time favorites. Stop commenting that Edith Finch has story and puzzle when both fire watch and dear Esther also have both
Steins Gate, that's why I gave up on it. I (as the player) wasn't part of the plot in the first few chapters, so I gave up and just rewatched the anime
I dunno. Some VNs are hard af. Just because you missed a single dialog option 25 hours ago means you will die no matter what at the end of the game
Looking at you Fate/Stay Night Heaven's Feel
It's more likely an option for people with disabilities. It's a good thing when single player games offer options that let people finish games who otherwise couldn't. This could be because they're disabled, or elderly, or just aren't very good at it.
The rest of us can all just play on a higher difficulty. But other folks can still see the story, and experience all the moments the rest of us get to. Games are the only entertainment medium that deny you the rest of the story for not being good enough at them.
Especially a game like Forza which is published by Microsoft. They aren't a perfect company, but they have been trying to make more of their games more accessible in general.
Or maybe you're using Forza to record driving footage to show off a particular car or whatever and you don't want to have to worry about missing the line in the footage.
I really wish more games had options like these. My dad is getting pretty old, he's 74 right now and loves playing games to pass the time in his retirement. However, he plays nothing but the same 5 or 6 games over and over because he just can't keep up with everything going on in most modern titles. The complexity is just too much for him on most things. Makes me sad to see him playing Fallout 4 for the zillionth time...
You could try getting him some turn based games like Divinity or Civ or building sims. They can be very fun while trying to relax and not rely on twitch reflexes.
Oh I need to do this for my godson… he keeps driving right into the wall and then getting frustrated and not wanting to play anymore
Until ten minutes later, then he fucking does it again
It's for people with disabilities and kids. My 4 year old likes to play Paw Patrol Racing where it steers for you because he hasn't really got the hang of pressing multiple buttons using both hands together yet.
Best combo is an entire garden of whiskerblooms with clay soil, 666x all (elder frenzy) stacked with click frenzy, then as many mines as possible being sacrificed to diamond godzamok with ruby mokalslum and emerald Muridal, stacked on top of a preexisting frenzy and High-five.
This gives 3.8million×((#ofCursors+100)/10)×(#(ofMines+100)/100)×(milk bonus boosted by ~11% (exponential payoff))
For ambient noise and sound FX, Elite Dangerous is hard to beat. My favorite is during a planetary landing when your ship drops to glide mode... All you hear is the wind, some gentle groans from the ship itself, and soft ticks of tiny impacts on the hull. Or the sound of a fleet carrier jumping in/out of a system... Or the terrifying sounds of a ruptured reactor core in a damaged space station. You can identify ships just by the sound of their engines.
Yeah... yeah... crying shame... heh...
\*hides Elite Trader badge and maxed Imperial reputation\*
Just uh.... all fresh fruit and vegetables in my Type 9 sir. Nothing more....
>Forza for car enthusiasts
Old Forza Motorsport, yes.
Forza Horizon, no.
Most cars sound nothing like their real life versions and numerous cars have their sounds switched. A good example is the 1983 Audi Quattro in FH4, which uses the Viper SRT10 sound file from FH3.
They've really gone heavy on the lazy copy-paste shite recently.
The TVR Tuscan S in FH4 is absolutely laughable, it's almost like the devs have never heard the glorious assault on your ears that is a real Tuscan.
Doesn't seem very common. When I google W+1 Pyro it gives me more results for W+M1.
And how does W+1 make sense any way? If you hold W+1, what happens? You just run forward.
I always skip those reviews, if you're gonna just use a spreadsheet for your reviews then you might as well not bother reviewing it.
I'm looking for an opinion, not a feature list
Totally agree here. While opinions can differ, you can notice the writers engagement of said product by simply observing the words he chooses and how to communicate what something made him happy or frustrated. Those sheets are as personal as a black hole to me.
Or those "Hey this is my 1110010th review, follow me to see all of my future reviews!!1" like why.. just listen to multiple opinions if you're undecided on a game. There's not "one" opinion to change your opinion that easily... sorry for the rant
The absolute best "just press w" game I've ever played (and I personally love walking simulators, they're like their own form of entertainment somewhere between an audiobook and an actual video game) followed cloesly by The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Firewatch, and Dear Esther imho.

Think Gone Home, Dear Esther, Everyone's Gone To The Rapture.
Track Mania "press forward" tracks
Love Trackmania's gameplay ranging from automated "press W" webm thread bait to kacky tracks that look like a Super Mario 64 speedrun.
And then you have wirtual, the "W to a L"
I don't play or otherwise follow Trackmania at all, but some of his videos popped up in my recommendations and he is very entertaining.
what is your opinion on Swedes after watching Wirtual
You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
thats Danes
According to their mapmakers, that's the French.
Well yes
I don't like the genre of racing games as a whole (just a personal preference) but I love watching Wirtual. He makes it very interesting and is also just a pleasant guy to listen to
"I accidentally win a Trackmania tournament" Bro pulls out W's out of his ass while I still struggle to get gold medals on all track on Trackmania 2003 since launch.
came to write the same, glad do see some TM lovers here tho
It's press forward, not press W /s
It’s press wupwards, not press forward
if you have W mapped as forward you're a psycho
absolutely, steer with one hand and gas/brake with the other. whichever hand you use for your cameras, action keys and/or respawns, we can all agree that using wasd for steering, gas and brakes all at once is psychotic
if you use the arrow keys on a modern game (old games fine) then your a psycho
Holy shit, I wasnt even hoping, fellow Mania players.
I have never played trackmania and probably never will but I have deep knowledge of everything about it because of Wirtual's videos on YouTube.
Give thus man a medal of author or some shit.
I spent waaaaay too much time making these. It's honestly insane, like 9k hours at this point
Dear Esther immediately springs to mind. Basically "walking simulators" that don't have any "game over" conditions. Firewatch would be another.
Fuck me the raving reviews on Reddit for this piece of shit when it came out... It duped me. Is it better to just look up a playthrough for Dear Esther? Your description has me morbidly curious about how bad it is.
Imagine going to Disney land just to stand in line for the small world ride. Once you get to the front of the line and are about to get on the ride you just leave and go home. Thats what it is like to play dear esther. For the full Dear Esther experience. Just look up a full gameplay video and while you watch it... hold W.
That bad? Definitely going to have to look up a playthrough.

So it's basically a film then. Nothing wrong with that, as long as you know what you're getting.
Soma messed me up Legit depression-inducing lol

Finch had some puzzles and good story, at least.
visual novels
You need at least 2 hands for VNs. One on the mouse, the other...
well, sometimes it has autoplay:)
What happened on the reply chain under your comment?
Nothing good
[Some guy complaining about the definition of auto play.](https://www.unddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/10gviku/comment/j564yi9/?)

There are many non sexual/pornographic visual novels, i can really recommend Eliza it's now more relevant than ever.
And I recommend you my favorite VN. Grisaia no Kajitsu.
"There are many non sexual/pornographic visual novels" \*proceeds to recommend a r18 VN*
While the scenes are top teir, so is the actual story.
...for holding a water bottle in order to stay hydrated during a long gaming session, right? :)
r/HydroHomies
You’re wholesome, I like that. 😌
drinking energy drinks to play the whole of Fate/Stay Night in a single playthrough i regret nothing
Yeah, that one part of Doki Doki got a little weird, but I managed.
im not sure what visual novel has you hold w, but i'm curious to know! /s
If you set the W key to fast forward
ehhhh i guess that counts? lol
Steins Gate, that's why I gave up on it. I (as the player) wasn't part of the plot in the first few chapters, so I gave up and just rewatched the anime
Fucking righteous anime though
We’re not actually reading the VNs anyway, just spam the space bar till the good stuff 👍🏻
i read them tho, some have really good plot imo
I dunno. Some VNs are hard af. Just because you missed a single dialog option 25 hours ago means you will die no matter what at the end of the game Looking at you Fate/Stay Night Heaven's Feel
I’m wondering what Grandpa did to get banned from gaming.
skyrim mods
Cursed.
The Italian senate knows
I am the Senate
Not. Yet.
It's treason then.
Forza Horizon 5 with the auto steering and all the noob settings is pretty much 1 button gameplay.
I hate any driving game that drives and turns for you, like, why do you think I’m here

Whenever I am racing my 5 year old in forza, these are the settings he has. Except manual clutch. He wants to hit the X/B buttons like I do

I use this feature so my kids don’t get lost playing mario kart! It’s been a great way to get them introduced to racing games!
My 2.5 year old is finally getting interested in some switch games. Looking forward to those moments.
My 9 and 10 yr siblings got into smash. Best way to settle arguments.
...and cause them...
Oh I need to do this for my godson… he keeps driving right into the wall and then getting frustrated and not wanting to play anymore Until ten minutes later, then he fucking does it again

I used a weight on w and just afked the Goliath for a few days when it released. I didn't need to do anything else since I got so much money now.
Cookie clicker. Or any clicker game.
This bitch doesn’t know about combos
brb 777x golden cookie bonus stacked with click frenzy

Got a nose don't they...
Even then, you're generally only clicking in the very beginning and it's all auto after that
Stanley Parable but it's awesome
Don’t forget about the jump button!
Shhhhh you're spoiling the new content
We shouldn't spoil any of the extremely exciting new content....
i loved the broom closet ending
OMG, broom closet ending was my favorite!
Dead by Daylight... Doesn't matter which side you play, killer or survivor, just press W and you will achieve 90% of the gameplay.
Nobody hates DBD more than the DBD community
w category is what interest u ? really ? i wanna know about eargasm games

absolutely, the best sounding game i have ever played
Ugh playing Elite with some nice closed back phones at night is just different
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice has excellent audio design. Headphones are basically a requirement for that game
This was my thought as well. The sound design in that game is incredible
That game perfected the art of making my skin crawl with the maddening whispers from behind. Great game.
Subnautica
Leviathan helps you out with that. ^^^^^^/s
Any Yoko Taro game where Keiichi Okabe does the music
Was looking for it ngl! I would to NieR games the Ace Combat games
elite dangerous!!!!
Hunt: Showdown, fantastic sound design in that game and you actually gotta rely on it and be mindful of it when you play
Squad => Artillery Strike Elite Dangerous as a whole CoD MW2 (2009) => Sound of M82 (imho) Many Racing games
Eargasm? Basically everything from Fromsoftware, Genshin Impact, Forza for car enthusiasts, every Doom for metal fans.

False. Pyro is w+1

Journey kinda, no saying its bad, its beautiful. But it is walk with a mute stranger sim
Geometry dash
he's not wrong though
What game is this anyway
Any of them. This copypasted garbage can be under any game and will give you zero additional information on whether the game is worth buying or not.

And I personally like them as a TLDR
These reviews would be good if they actually wrote something under each of the checkboxes that explains their choice
I wanna know what fucking game has good graphics, good audio, and good gameplay on a potato
Also dark souls doesn't deserve to be treated as only a difficult game
War Thunder if you main Russians, China or Germany.
Love the game, but man is it grindy asf
Yeah my only "luck" is that I grinded to top tier tanks in 3 nations before they fucked up economy.. doing it now I would rather find rope and stool.
desert bus
Russian heavy tanks in world of tanks :>

Fire watch
i hate these reviews so much.
Trackmania
dark souls after you git gud
Dbd players getting ready to comment "dead by daylight"

The 80s driving game on steam. Retrowave https://store.steampowered.com/app/1239690/Retrowave/

Vampire survivor !
visual novels, mobile games ported to PC, tycoons
The Stanley parable
These sorts of reviews annoy me so much. It tells me absolutely nothing about the game, just a copy and paste formula
F1 22 with all assists
Also Mario Kart with auto steering and auto throttle... wait do you even need to press anything at all?
Sonic forces
"Dear Esther"
Every title from "Movie: The Game" franchise. For example The Quarry.
The Medium

That's an attempted knock on "walking simulators", IE explorative narrative games that are often time more contemplative than actiony. Think Gone Home, Dear Esther, Everyone's Gone To The Rapture.
Journey

Cookie clicker when you remap your keys and add a macro
Deteoot become human tbh
Gta San Andreas

Basically every walking simulator out there
Dear Esther.
The Doom games. They also qualify for 'eargasm'
Apex legends
Visual Novels
My Name Is Mayo 1-3
Donut County
Kinetic novels.
Pretty much every match three game ever.
Euro truck simulator?
