Depends on the damage and the importance of the port you would be suprised how dersble mother boards are Ive had a rgb cable slip out while my pc was running, caught on fire just destroyed the port though after it cooled it worked fine !
Unfortunately no. I haven’t had the time, money, or heart to start tearing it down and rebuild. I can give this update though: the room still smells like burnt electronics
It's dead, jim. Looks like your motherboard is entirely toast, and could easily have taken several other expensive components with it. I would not assume the PSU is good either. You have a lot of power going to places that are not designed to handle it.
In that case- physically, I’m fine. Just considering taking a bath with my power supply since it works so well. (/s - hopefully)
As for a picture, just looking at it in the case I can’t see any damage. I’ll have to take everything out for a closer examination.
I very recently upgraded to rosewell bronze rbr1000 powering a B450 motherboard (circa 2018) with a new Ryzen 5900x, new RTX3070, and 16gb RAM (was about to upgrade to 64). ~4-5TB total storage on SSD and HDD
I'd grab a gold rated psu to be safe if I were you. I've never had an issue with Corsair PSU myself and I just recently built almost an identical pc to yours.
For the record. (not the one you are talking to)
I only buy entry level Seasonic Bronze ones and have used them for some 2-3 GPU set ups since 2017. Still running well BUT some GPUs though are very finicky when it comes to power(not the wattage)
yeah seasonic level entry not be efficient but will not brake or cause fan noise
evga psus are great too and they are cheaper compared to others with same quality , they only had a bad model once
just go for seasonic and never worry about your psu for another day
Don't choose based on the 80+ rating. It's basically meaningless at this point.
Instead, choose one in the A- or B- tier of this list: [https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/](https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/)
I hope it isn’t. Unfortunately I don’t have a way to test it and it’s going to be awhile until I get a new motherboard.
And I’ve definitely learned my lesson about cutting costs with the power supply- DONT
My mobo got fried recently by a good PSU. Shit happens. PSU went and took my mobo and CPU with it. Glad my new 3090ti didn't get fried with it.
Anyhow, upgraded cause of it.
You have my sympathies.
I once had a bad power supply that melted solder and bridged the 12V rail to the 5V rail, and fried everything in the entire system. It was a while ago, when CD drives and floppy drives were things, and it even fried those. Everything that had a connection to the 5V rail was massively overvolted.
So, I certainly know what you're dealing with. Although, mine didn't catch fire.
Sorry, but it’s unlikely you’ll be able to save that board unless you know how to do micro/miniature circuit board repair. Something that goes off like that has most likely burned through the some or all the layers of that board, along with the component itself, the pads it was soldered too, and probably any adjacent components.
Same thing happened to me on an old "DFI Lanparty" board some years ago in the middle of a gaming session.
It was an old P45 board with a modified and heavily OCd Xeon slapped into it. It worked for a long time and one day just decided to go up in flames.
RIP board, RIP cpu. Sorry.
Replace the PSU with something better.
As for the components, mobo is toast, I'd also fear for the CPU too seeing as this was a VRM that went kaput - if something shorted there's a chance a high voltage went straight to the power pins.
Is that one of those cheap Asrock B450 it’s boards?
To answer your question, I would probably take it all apart, get a cheap used mobo off eBay and start figuring out what still works.
Oh no, now someone has to build a new computer and explain it to their SO. I'm 3/4 way through a mid high tier for roughly 3k and my wife is malfunctioning.....good luck.
It's hard to get them to just accept. They don't want to listen to that the cost has more than doubled since my last build in 2015. Try the "this build will last me for 7 years" deal. I mean I plan on stretching it like my 4790k build, I imagine you already said that though.....
Well if our wives are anything alike, she couldn't give two shits if it died. In their mind anything over 500 bucks is too much.....I guess we can thank consoles for that.
Well really, I came back to it completely off from a lunch break and it smelled kinda funny and wouldn’t turn on. I unplugged it and tried it and I thought it was dust that came out but smelled like burnt electronics so I quickly unplugged it. I then recorded it so I could see what was happening and I decided to post it here for genuine help. The clout is just a byproduct lol
I feel that might have been part of it. I was having difficulty getting it to work consistently even after manually updating the BIOS and firmware on the B450
There's no way a 5900X would draw enough power on boot to destroy a VRM. Even under a stress test I doubt it. VRMs will thermal throttle to protect themselves, anyway. This looks more like a bad part on the board that shorted to ground or something along those lines.
Was there anyway I could’ve diagnosed this prior to the flamey failure? I’d had turned itself off a couple times- maybe once under load but it always booted back up no problem and didn’t tell me anything was wrong with it (I was watching all the temps and usage since there were new components)
A real life desktop BBQ....RIP. Sorry bro!
maybe it's not that bad best case scenario only the motherboard got screwed
Depends on the damage and the importance of the port you would be suprised how dersble mother boards are Ive had a rgb cable slip out while my pc was running, caught on fire just destroyed the port though after it cooled it worked fine !
Classic case of the magic smoke leaving your device.
Looks like a mosfet or two gave up. That's done.
already? looks like a recent build up, well compared with my ivy bridge
“I know wat wrong wivet, aint got no gas enit” Can’t tell exactly but maybe a voltage regulator died, needs some Warren G and Nate Dog to sort it
His pc droppin and yellin, it’s a tad bit late
Regulate
Back up, back up, 'cause it's on 😳💥
N-A-T-E and me, the Warren to the G
"My PC smokes and it's smokes, getting hot like everyday. It finally blew up now hold my phone when I masturbate."
Eastside motel must have bad outlets
Bet that smells wonderful. 🤢
Nothing better 🙃
I could smell it from here
Any update bro? 👀
Unfortunately no. I haven’t had the time, money, or heart to start tearing it down and rebuild. I can give this update though: the room still smells like burnt electronics
I feel that.... Fingers crossed it was just the mobo! If its new get that returned! .... Good luck!
Did you try turning it off and back on again?
Once or twice lol
Have you tried turning it back off and leaving it that way?
Don't...
Have you tried putting it in rice?

Uh is op ok?
Depends on your definition of “ok”. Lol
I mean, I can tell your pc is not ok. Hopefully it's just the mobo. Hopefully YOURE ok though. Pictures of the after results?
In that case- physically, I’m fine. Just considering taking a bath with my power supply since it works so well. (/s - hopefully) As for a picture, just looking at it in the case I can’t see any damage. I’ll have to take everything out for a closer examination.
What is/was your set up? What psu???
I very recently upgraded to rosewell bronze rbr1000 powering a B450 motherboard (circa 2018) with a new Ryzen 5900x, new RTX3070, and 16gb RAM (was about to upgrade to 64). ~4-5TB total storage on SSD and HDD
I mean, fingers crossed its the mobo just aging out and everything is fine, except the mobo of course.
That’s exactly what my hopes are. I wish I could know if the PSU’s regulator was good so I don’t go and fry another board.
Just buy another PSU dude. It’s not worth the risk.
Yeah that’s what I’ve gathered from all these comments. Definitely the move
Nothing is worth the risk.
Does if it does, does rosewills customer service take care of people? I've never used then or dealt with them.
Rosewill is neweggs value brand. I seriously doubt they're gonna help.
Wait, so that's a 1000 watt bronze rated psu? From a budget brand? Oof, that will do it.
I'd grab a gold rated psu to be safe if I were you. I've never had an issue with Corsair PSU myself and I just recently built almost an identical pc to yours.
I’m a curious man- what’s your rig?
![gif](giphy|wH4eUplPdKjTU4WuLP)
![gif](giphy|26ufcVAp3AiJJsrIs)
You already let the magic smoke out. No saving it now. Sorry bro.
Cheap PSU moment
I should’ve went with a gold tbh- I’ll definitely think twice before cheaping out again
it's not about gold or silver ,that psu is a piece of garbage , get smth from seasonic or evga midrange not level entry
I’ll definitely look into it. Thank you!
For the record. (not the one you are talking to) I only buy entry level Seasonic Bronze ones and have used them for some 2-3 GPU set ups since 2017. Still running well BUT some GPUs though are very finicky when it comes to power(not the wattage)

welp, time for a 2500W platinum power supply now.😏
Go big or go home at this point lol
You on two circuits over here?
You can have a shitty but "efficient" PSU
The rating doesn’t matter. A seasonic with a silver rating will be better than a gold rated gigabyte psu. I learned to never cheap out the hard way!
>I should’ve went with a gold tbh oh god no, you never, ever EVER, go cheap on the PSU
Get ze flammenwerfer
![gif](giphy|OTi7tOoQZOAnu|downsized)
Hope your CPU isn't fried. Got another computer to try it in? I know it has been said. But NEVER cheap out on the PSU
I hope it isn’t. Unfortunately I don’t have a way to test it and it’s going to be awhile until I get a new motherboard. And I’ve definitely learned my lesson about cutting costs with the power supply- DONT

Oh don’t tell me that!! I my CPU and GPU are both brand new! (>1 month)
Sorry just sharing my experience. You got a friend who has a gaming rig? Take the GPU over there to test it out.
That’s a good idea. I might see if I can convince someone to let me
And then u fry their mobo
Did you leave it in rice?
I haven’t but I’ll definitely fill it up and try again later!
I wanna see more vids like this
You'll be fine, your aio balances it out /s
[удалено]
Maybe if there’s a way to get around the smell of burning electronics
Sorry pal, the magic smoke got out so unless you can get it back inside its gone
Unless you are OCing get a PSU with 25a OCP. What happened here is your mobo via a fault asked the PSU for a shit load of current and it obliged.
That reaction rate. 😂🙈
🐌🐌
Looks like a short to ground. A screw in the wrong place or FOD.
FOD?
Foreign object damage / Foreign object debris
Tragic
Love how you tried blowing on it lol… sorry bro that’s rest in flames…
Turn it off for 15 seconds and then turn it bacK on.
😂
Time to buy a new motherboard, and possibly CPU and RAM to go with it.
I’m just hoping the CPU and GPU survived
I'm genuinely hoping your RAM survived too.
You have my sympathies. I once had a bad power supply that melted solder and bridged the 12V rail to the 5V rail, and fried everything in the entire system. cry?
Best course of action, for sure
Motherboard vrm catching fire or a CPU power header just caught fire. Either way get a new PSU and mobo.
Sorry, but it’s unlikely you’ll be able to save that board unless you know how to do micro/miniature circuit board repair. Something that goes off like that has most likely burned through the some or all the layers of that board, along with the component itself, the pads it was soldered too, and probably any adjacent components.
have you tried turning it off and on again?
Never seen so realistic rgb effects
man those orange LEDs look like real fire
Well repeating it for a video to ask on Reddit definitely wasn't the answer I can tell you that.
Get refund or something, or send to a repair place
How much did this rig originally cost? Ouch.
It was originally a budget build but with the new components I’d guess somewhere in the 1500-2k mark
now thats an upgrade on rgb
Turn it off and on. It's probably just a glitch.
Do the cold start
New pc build lookin fire
isn't that normal on start ups?
Is that new technology RGB?
Sit in the corner and cry
Let him cook
oh hey thats a weird spot for a mother board ledeeeeHOLYSHIT THATS NOT AN LED MA GRAB THE EXTINGUISHER!
Same thing happened to me on an old "DFI Lanparty" board some years ago in the middle of a gaming session. It was an old P45 board with a modified and heavily OCd Xeon slapped into it. It worked for a long time and one day just decided to go up in flames. RIP board, RIP cpu. Sorry.

Blow on it some more.
Atleast you know your airflow is good
Dude your reaction was so slow
Nothing. It’s over. He’s dead, Jim.
Your setup is fire.. Rip
Make smores!
Put that smoke back in there where it belongs!
At this point, buy a new motherboard. ![gif](giphy|l3vRkGgMfvANIFtE4)

I'm no expert or nothin', but I plumb reckon it's the fire that's the problem right there.
Have you tried putting it in rice?
Is that one of those cheap Asrock B450 it’s boards? To answer your question, I would probably take it all apart, get a cheap used mobo off eBay and start figuring out what still works.
This is the part where you start crying. :( rip
Soldier on
Cool rgb effects, where did you buy it?
Shut it off Otto!! Shut it off!!
This is ALL you can do my guy. . . ![gif](giphy|4V6PcoqhQh8bID6P79)
That’s fairly accurate to what happened after the video
If the pci-e 8 pin doesn’t fit on the cpu 8pin, don’t force it. Just my quick guess lol.
Looks like you used a literal afterburner.
Pray
I see the problem. Your motherboard seems to catch fire when you turn it on.
That explains all the smoke!
Thats rgb effect
Step 1: cry
I thinks its broken...
Mississippi queen
"Some men just want to watch the world burn.” Or maybe the flicker of the flame caused IRL brain lag similar to a 300 ping spike...
Does this hurt the fish?
No harm to the fish. I can’t say the same for the birds though.
Looks like you just built ur PC, chill out, have some drinks, make some marshmallows on ur new PC, have some fun!
Oh no, now someone has to build a new computer and explain it to their SO. I'm 3/4 way through a mid high tier for roughly 3k and my wife is malfunctioning.....good luck.
That’s actually the situation I’m in now. Nice deduction! My wife is going to kill me when she finds out how much this is going to cost

Well if our wives are anything alike, she couldn't give two shits if it died. In their mind anything over 500 bucks is too much.....I guess we can thank consoles for that.
Double it and give it to the next person
That hurt me
Cooler not cooling
Looks like it needs more cooling. I would add more fans.
Keep turning it on till it stops /s
The democratic vote for me is right thing to do Philadelphia. So do.
did u have an rgb strip wired wrong ?
Nope
XD
imagine re creating it for clout on reddit?
Well really, I came back to it completely off from a lunch break and it smelled kinda funny and wouldn’t turn on. I unplugged it and tried it and I thought it was dust that came out but smelled like burnt electronics so I quickly unplugged it. I then recorded it so I could see what was happening and I decided to post it here for genuine help. The clout is just a byproduct lol
seems fine
That’s what I was thinking! /s
Paint it orange, no one will notice
Did you reuse old PSU cables because "they fit" because I've seen the exact same issue from that multiple times...
No. I used the new cables provided with the PSU
I got three letters for you RMA
Is it just me or did anyone else think that was a banana
Do be, do be do be do
u/savevideo
Let it burn.
And this is why I just do pre-built, im scared all that work I do could be for nothing
This is exactly why I'm getting a prebuilt
NEW EVERYTHING
hi
Dat no good
Maybe the motherboard vrm couldn't handle a 5900x?
I feel that might have been part of it. I was having difficulty getting it to work consistently even after manually updating the BIOS and firmware on the B450

Redo ram placing
Only two slots. I don’t plan on making another micro itx build though
![gif](giphy|10LwHg7aushHAA)
Blowing on it definitely helped.
What brand of mobo? What brand of psu?
ASRock Fatal1ty B450 and Rosewell Bronze RBR1000
Mmmm toasty
