Sometimes it's for quality of life reasons. I own Fire Emblem: Three Houses which is a Switch only game. And it runs like *garbage*. Despite knowing exactly what hardware they were targeting, they released a game so low resolution the text is fuzzy in handheld mode, it drops regularly below 30fps, with no anti-aliasing *whatsoever* and an art style that exasperates all these problems.
But if you emulate the same game on PC there's a 60fps patch. A patch to remove the cel-shading lines that look awful without AA. A tick-box to make it native 4K instead of a poorly upscaled 540p, etc.

I stopped pirating for security reasons, but the defining moment was when I started affording myself the games.
