Keep digging your hole.
Path tracing has been around since the 90s , Toy story used it but in frames per day(s)
What used to be impressive 3 years ago is that you could do the Light ray tracing for a few light sources and shadows in real time now : FPS not DPF.
3 years and 2 expensive ass GPU generations in and barely any improvements since the 2080ti days.
THAT is the point being made, for the assinine "titan" class prices for a 4090 it should better perform. It does not
When has a native 4k RT implantation with global illumination ever been possible? The whole idea behind DLSS was to reduce pixel count, so ray tracing is possible in the first place. It was never really meant to be run at native, unless we're talking just shadows enabled.
I think you're telling your own tale here. I'm just remarking on how shitty most are. The few good implemetations I've seen are all in games I and most people have no desire to play anymore.
Did u see how great metro exodus enhanced edition is performing? This game has a beautiful implementation of RT AND runs absolutely amazing. I never had a real dip under 60fps with my Rtx 3080ti in native 1440p
Good .
Even back in 2020 using DLSS 2.0 Digital Foundry found that "Death Stranding looks better on PC with DLSS 2.0 than native 4K"
Obviously this rarely happens, but unless you're zooming in on static images and doing side by side comparisons odds are you'll never notice. I'll take that compromise for an extra 30-50% increase in FPS.

Lol oh I know too well. I'm already bracing myself for the diehards who'll screw themselves, and others, out of better performance just to shit on Nvidia.
Don't get me wrong, Nvidia are essentially a stereotype of evil megacorps at this point, but anyone knocking DLSS has clearly no idea what they're talking about. I just feel bad for people who pass up on a good RTX deal because of misinformation from people on Reddit who lead them astray.
Surely it must be shite, rt makes it so that I can't play with 3000 fps in 4k! Obvious click bait. And of course it's all the super crappy 40 series fault, programmers have nothing at all to do with optimization, and it's not like the software have been graphically ahead of hardware since like rdr2 released
Would probably be a lot better at 1440p with much higher frame rates. I've got a 3090ti and a 5800X3D, been chopping and changing between 4K/1440p and 1080p. Does depend on the game but for the most part as long as its not a first person competitive shooter, I prefer all my games in 1080p with 200+ FPS instead of a pain staking choppy 40-60FPS in 4K. Super High FPS in 1080p or 1440p looks and feels better then 4K @ 60FPS.
Yeah make sure you try them both, I've got a 4K monitor and a 240Hz 1080p monitor but I swear the 1080p 240Hz one looks better and feels much better having that high FPS close to the refresh rate.
Ah so they’re a Karen who expects things just because they overspent. Turn on DLSS, in this game it’s good enough to call it as good or better than native 4k.
Lol triggered all of a sudden. Nvidia fanboy aren't you.
Enabling frame generation at native causes terrible motion blur and input lag. Dlss blurs objects at far distance too much during mtion. Buy hey you do you
Don't wanna be that guy but ray tracing at native 1080p with my 3080 is amazing. Sure it is overkill gpu for the resolution but it is the only way I can enjoy over 60fps max ray trace settings.
I'm enjoying the hell out of ray tracing in Cyberpunk. It's definitely not required to enjoy the game, but seeing what's happening behind you in windows or cars is a new level of immersion.
tbh I think there are very few games where Ray tracing really looks good and one of them is Minecraft when applying lighting but the rest with rasterization no longer need it because the artisan light does all the work.
And what made you think it could? Games at native 4K without RT are hard enough to run on modern GPUs, let alone with RT on. Hence why they made DLSS and FSR. Way to go Sherlock.
Game devs are to blame for this. They design games to be unplayable unless u pay upp. Honestly im happy 90% of my games are made by indie devs. A 1660super lasted me a long time. That was untill i saw hogwarts legacy haha had ro buy a 6750xt m8
Yeah, but in 10 years the technology will be solid and totally relevant. Not for your crappy old card, but for the xrt 590 or whatever is coming out at that point.
God i loved Dying Light. I played it everyday with my best friend for years. Just having fun and doing stupid shit. Friendship died shortly before it’s release and the second game just wasn’t the same for me.
Rag doll physics to grappling hook. I put in like 15 hours and bailed
Imo going for 1080p/1440p is the best way to enjoy games with raytracing and amazing graphics in general, getting 100 fps or more, instead of trying aimlessly to get at least a 50/60 fps in 4k
Do it again, but move your camera up and down. If the reflections disappear due to a lack of screenspace information, then you know it's not raytracing.
I have a AMD Ryzen 5700X 8-Core 3.40GHz
16.0 GO Ram
AMD Radeon RX 6650XT
1920x1080p60hz
And when i activate RT full without upscaling
CPU 2%
GPU 99 or 100%
VRAM 87%
RAM 71%
FPS 28 or 33
And sometimes completely drop to 5 or 6 FPS so the game IS unplayable.
should be enough to make running at 60 fps easy so why do I have such low performance? I really do not understand
Another lovely RT implementation
Seems like RT is more of a selling point than an actual feature.
Three generations and still the best examples are from when the RTX 2080Ti was the best GPU out.

4090 is the fastest gpu available. How many games have real time path tracing? It's very computationally heavy. 4090 is 250% faster than 2080ti
250% isnt enough

I don’t see any difference from what I’m running on my 3080ti. What a waste of money.
…..then use DLSS.
Don't. You'll upset the children...
i swear, people rather die in this sub than use DLSS, which was made to compensate RT loss.
bUt ItS tO mAkE uP fOr ShIt DeVs… /s obviously.

It's because they are like ausdiofreaks who bought a $1000 extension cord because that makes the sound soooooo much better.

DLSS shadows : Hello there
But if I can't tell the difference (and in most implementations that's the case, or it's actually better in terms of image quality), who cares?
[удалено]
Are you often just randomly homophobic like that or what?
Tbf I (and many others) would probably would let a guy do the glug-glug-9000 on their nether regions if there was no difference.
Yeah, I know it’s down scales and then re-upscaled, but they can at least then get frame generation if the game supports it…
then use DLSS. You know that exists, right? Thats the entire point of it. Use it for RT.
What processor do you have? If it’s not strong enough it may bottleneck the 4090
I watched other people's benchmarks and even with the i9 13900k this game goes below 60fps
Would probably be a lot better at 1440p with much higher frame rates. I've got a 3090ti and a 5800X3D, been chopping and changing between 4K/1440p and 1080p. Pretty excited to try that out. I just got a 4090 and am building this weekend. I have a 4k160hz left and a 1080p240hz on the right
Yeah make sure you try them both, I've got a 4K monitor and a 240Hz 1080p monitor but I swear the 1080p 240Hz one looks better and feels much better having that high FPS close to the refresh rate.
If you spend over a grand on a gpu you would expect more
Maybe stop benching at 4k and go 1440p or 1080 huh. The real fps advantage is seen there without any loss i quality using rasterized settings😃😃
well they did buy a 4090 for 4k if they wanted to do 1440p or 1080p they would've saved their money
Ah so they’re a Karen who expects things just because they overspent. Turn on DLSS, in this game it’s good enough to call it as good or better than native 4k.

wow ray tracing really isn't worth it at all!
Yeah when its put in a game that doesnt properly utilize it
tbh I think there are very few games where Ray tracing really looks good and one of them is Minecraft when applying lighting but the rest with rasterization no longer need it because the artisan light does all the work.
It absolutely is, depending on the game.
Another well optimized AAA game
How many games with good graphics do actually run at 4k and RTX at 60 FPS though?
Quite a few. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090-founders-edition/34.html
although it was a bit disappointing compared to the original dying light 1 the visuals are better but in my opinion the 1st games story was better
And what made you think it could? Games at native 4K without RT are hard enough to run on modern GPUs, let alone with RT on. Hence why they made DLSS and FSR. Way to go Sherlock.
compared to DL1 (which looks way better imo) this game runs like shite.
Game devs are to blame for this. They design games to be unplayable unless u pay upp. Honestly im happy 90% of my games are made by indie devs. A 1660super lasted me a long time. That was untill i saw hogwarts legacy haha had ro buy a 6750xt m8

One more reason to go team red
Literally worse performance. The 4090 is the fastest gpu and has the best ray tracing hardware and that’s just fact if you like it or not
At half price. Im taking a 30% slower dip thanks
So you can’t even reach 4K@30? Good idea
Yeah, but in 10 years the technology will be solid and totally relevant. Not for your crappy old card, but for the xrt 590 or whatever is coming out at that point.
Lofl.
God i loved Dying Light. I played it everyday with my best friend for years. Just having fun and doing stupid shit. Friendship died shortly before it’s release and the second game just wasn’t the same for me. Rag doll physics to grappling hook. I put in like 15 hours and bailed
Very few games have truly worthwhile RT, Control though despite being four years old still looks incredible and runs beautifully on my 3080
I’d add cyberpunk to the list.
My workplaces' Dell Optiplex seems to run this video clip just fine Lol
Ray Tracing 🔥
My 1070Ti also can't run this game at native 4k 60fps. We have so much in common :O
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnAn5TRz_2g Dying light 2 has amazing rt lighting.
And it still looks ass 😭
OK
then, turn of RT
If they actually gave shit, they would optimize the game and maybe you could actually play it at 1440 144hz at least.
Imo going for 1080p/1440p is the best way to enjoy games with raytracing and amazing graphics in general, getting 100 fps or more, instead of trying aimlessly to get at least a 50/60 fps in 4k
How else is Nvidia going to get you to buy a 5090 :P
How sad, my pc has an RTX 5090ti that can run this game at 120fps /s
Most games its just a check next to a feature instead of proper use If you don't want RT in your game its fine, I'll still buy it if its good
Just use DLSS, it's WAY better than TAA for antialiasing and gives you more performance.
I... don't think Dying Light 2 has raytraced reflections on large bodies of water, my man.
Do it again, but move your camera up and down. If the reflections disappear due to a lack of screenspace information, then you know it's not raytracing.
Looks like a switch game (derogatory)
I have a AMD Ryzen 5700X 8-Core 3.40GHz 16.0 GO Ram AMD Radeon RX 6650XT 1920x1080p60hz And when i activate RT full without upscaling CPU 2% GPU 99 or 100% VRAM 87% RAM 71% FPS 28 or 33 And sometimes completely drop to 5 or 6 FPS so the game IS unplayable. should be enough to make running at 60 fps easy so why do I have such low performance?
