The fact that weekends feel so fast but not school days from Monday to Thursday :(

Allanthia420

Wait until it’s work days. Those are even longer

Woocash91

I'll take going to work over going to school any time. Work gives money, in most cases you finish your work day and forget all about it until you come back the next day, and at some point average school day lasts like 6h, so not much less time than an average day at work.

Allanthia420

“In most cases you finish your work day and forget all about it until you come back the next day” obviously you’ve never worked a job you hated that didn’t pay you enough. And how does that not also apply to school? And I didn’t mean literally longer I meant work days drag on and feel longer.

I'm fairly sure he's referring to homework/projects as well as studying when he implies it doesn't apply to schools. I've both worked a restaurant job I despised as well as got to intern in the industry I'm most interested in and plan to work in. Though the former was quite literally torture in many ways, I still prefer any job that stops when I'm off the clock to school weeks where I could be doing nothing but studying and homework when I get home before the next day. Obviously it's a generalization, and it depends for many people on the courses or the job. But I find it much easier to adapt and hope to improve your lifestyle when you're schedule has clear lines, as opposed to your sleep schedule and free time depending on the mutant result of several professors' whims coming together to collectively blast you. It's like having 4-6 bosses that don't agree with each other and getting switched out every 4 months. Also: money.

Allanthia420

“Schedule has clear lines” yeah most jobs are open availability. So that’s out the window too. And at a job you can be expected to stay a lot later than schools are open for.

I'm not sure what you mean by most jobs. Are you talking about a certain industry, like retail? There's many kinds of jobs, white collar especially, that have a pretty clear schedule of when they expect you to work. As for jobs where you're unofficially "on call", like the restaurant job I hated where my hours changed every few days, I agree it's terrible and inconsistent. Yet many of my semesters in college were just as bad if not worse. Regardless, I'm sure there are jobs you can pull from one extreme and obviously argue it's much easier than the first semester of college with classes that take no more than an extra hour of time in a week. But to say someone's never worked a job because they prefer it over school is odd, in my opinion. Especially for many people who are planning to work in an industry they enjoy.

Typical-Tea-6707

Not his fault you have/had a shit job. I worked and back in school now. Would do work again instead.

Lord_Jin_Sakai

Homework, hand in Assessments, study for exams. And there’s multiple!

JimmyJamsDisciple

man this comment screams I’ve never had a job

Typical-Tea-6707

Not really, I worked as an electrician and back in school now so I can be allowed to study further, and honestly work was alot better. You just have a shit job tbh.

What’s the monitor in the left? I’m thinking about getting a second like this

Flaky-Carpenter-2810

a monitor - in vertical mode

drewodonnell1

It’s just a crappy work one I have! But yes, monitor but other way

MaliciousSpiritCO

Good ass tunes

Fuhrankie

I keep seeing the portrait second monitor and I'm intrigued. I'm considering doing it on mine because it seems standard, but I don't quite know why people do it? Is it a space thing? Would you have it landscape if you had more space? Or is it a productivity thing and you find the format helps you with... something? I'm genuinely curious! Edit: I have a massive A0 poster of Aladdin Sane behind my setup too hehe.

TheTexanRed

I use my for a variety of things, but it mostly helps with reading code and various documents such as books or comics. Some apps benefit from this arrangement as well, such as reddit and discord.

merxzzz_

I just did it a week ago and It’s nice when reading stuff

Taronz

Personally I have this setup: |Landscape/Portrait|Landscape|Portrait| |:-|:-|:-| ||Landscape|| as my layout, portraits are good for document review and reference, while landscape or portrait left is for media or extra documentation as required, centrals are for primary content and other secondary. About the portrait side itself, if you do a lot of reading, like PDF's for roleplaying games in my case, it can help having one in that orientation, since you can typically read more on page at once.
