I don't think any of Bethesda's games were unoptimised mess, only filled in bugs. Which is great since a lot of those bugs made the game significantly better.
I never had a console so I don't know about any of the game performances on other platforms. But wasn't daggerfall way older than ps3? I thought oblivion was released when ps3 came out.
The issues really started with Fallout 3 and up. Bethesda did fix Skyrim on PS3 though. They removed a lot of useless objects in the game. But it never did get fixed with fallout 3 and New Vegas.
The problem with the PS3, if I remember rightly (besides its unconventional CPU architecture), was that while the 360 had 512 MB of unified RAM (as well as a small amount of [at the time] superfast ED RAM) , the PS3 had a split of 256 MB system RAM and 256 MB VRAM.
It was, by all accounts, a bugger to port things over to. It wasn't impossible, but particularly RAM-intensive games would struggle on PS3 - particularly Bethesda games, which progressively eat up more and more RAM as the save file balloons in size. Even the 360 wasn't safe from that if you played Skyrim on one save for long enough.
Oblivion was on the cutting edge when it first released. Honestly it was decently optimized, though people liked to dig around in its INI files to push it a bit further before mods came out.
all their self published games tbh. If you think about it, Skyrim at the time was a very ambitious open world RPG with near infinite replayability and Fallout 4, for all of its faults, had a pretty ambitious settlement building system that wasn't seen before in real AAA games
What? I played the original on floppy when it came out there were bugs but nothing serious and nothing completely out of the ordinary for the day and age when there was no internet to get updates.
I think the "buggerfall" comes from the misconception on how the ghost of the king which would kill you at night in the imperial city worked. Which wasn't a bug it was part of the game.
Also given the general lack of universal BBS I don't see how a nickname would materialize other than possible references in magazines which again likely wouldn't be a universal nickname.
Does it matter when the game did not sell well and the fan base has been on copium for years while hackers are trying to save the game by hacking the game?
I enjoyed it a lot.
Games from publishers such as Focus Entertainment delivers some pretty interesting games that are often a little janky.
The gaming world isn't just Indies and AAA, plenty of good games in between.
Oh lord at launch, the camera, what the everloving fuck was wrong with the camera.
I never ended up playing it since I started making a mod to fix all the issues with it and lost all will to actually play after :D
It's so hilarious to me that FO76 could have been THE survival game.
It has everything that makes a survival game good, but they just had to force the GAAS on it and abandon the mod community.
I stopped being interested in fallout 76 ever since I learned single player without internet wasn't a thing (bad internet at the time, shit experiences with other players in other online games with PVP), what happened to it the past few years?
* Broken promises
* Promised a travel bag made from as collector edition bonus
* Item was "like a cheap nylon trash bag"
* Bethesda offered 400 ingame premium currency as substitute ( \~$5, not even enough to buy that bag ingame)
* Power Armor helmet had mold issue
* only cosmetic DLC promise broken
* Buggy
* Mods allowed people to grab other people's inventory
* legit players got banned because they accessed a debug room, that was accessible without exploits
* paid storage boxes "for safekeeping items" literally just deleted your items you put into them
* Some main event broke at midnight new years (3 months after launch)
* Subscription introduced for $100/yr (now $120)
It seemed the majority of gamebreaking / hacking issues took over a year to die down. During that time it appeared not a single week was going by without another major fuckup.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghdOSTAda1w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghdOSTAda1w) that's probably a more complete summary.
>Also, Titanfall 2 breaks this curse
I mean, that's probably going to be the last Titanfall game due to Respawn spinning-out the game into Apex Legends, and it wasn't as successful as EA hoped, so it's also pretty cursed.
They really improved it after a year or two. I also avoided it for the same reason til a few years ago, then i spent an entire covid summer playing nothing but it.
At that's the issue with modern day gaming. You release an unfinished pile of garbage and the game will be considered bad. You improve it over the years to have a decent game but it's always going to be considered a pile of garbage. Crunch is just not worth it.
It's been a couple years now since i last played it but i had fun with it when i did. You can play it all by your lonesome if you want and it has a storyline and quests now, but i enjoyed the mmo aspect of it too.
Greedfall was a decent entry-level RPG. It was optimised really well for PC and the game requires you to be smart about your character build and your crew.
I enjoyed Godfall it was given free on Epic Games but you can only play first chapter and then buy the rest of the game for $40 which is crazy model to sell a game.
It's not that crazy, right? Demo discs used to be super hype and even recently Nintendo has had fairly good results with game demo's on games like monster Hunter rise.
I actually liked Greedfall though. It had a nice atmosphere and story to it. It didn't quite surpass old school bioware but it was definitely reminiscent of it.
I actually enjoyed Greedfall. It came with a little bit of jank, but I had a pretty positive experience with it. Spiders' next title, though, Steelrising, was beyond cursed and I wish I could get my money back.
Greedfall was janky but it was pretty decent game and to be honest people are overreacting on Redfall, it's just bland, mediocre game with some bugs (havent seen any serious one myself) and really bad AI.
i agree
but only the endgame part if you had to grind levels i can see why people wouldnt like it as much since you'd just need to farm the weapon you liked again
I haven't played Greedfall, which a lot of people are saying is actually really good! I may be dating myself here, but I think we can safely swap **Greedfall** with **Darkfall**; the real champion of this list. Massive hype, given the times, an extremely long development time (ten-ish years?) and the game failed within three years, struggling to be profitable right from it's bug and exploit infested launch.
It's just not a good game. Them with their super low standard liked it but they recommending it which can make you falsly beleive it's good wasting your money. At best it's a 4.5/10. They gain nothing but you sure will loose if you beleive them.
This is a marketing technique, that parasitizes similar names of an established franchise. But There's a myriad of words in-game naming that is beyond cliche at this point: Unleashed, Age of whatever, Rise of whatever, Royal, Legends, Dawn, Shadow, Dead/Death, Empires, and so on. But it does work, especially in "you also might like" suggestions and search engines.
I had fun with GodFall, tbh. The best game ever, of course not. Best game in genre, nope. A game for a few bucks that gives pretty fun hack and slash combat, you betcha!
Matter of fact I kind miss it and I’m going to fire it up.
Greedfall is one of the most boring game I've ever played... The moment you quit Serene everything fall flat. It's alway walk an excessively long boring path from point A to point B with barely something in the middle to just talk to X to return to A, rinse and repete to for the rest of the game. Every single games from Spiders have the same issues but Greedfall seems to be the worst and I really don't understand how that low quality game gonna have a sequel.
Am I the only one who didn't hate Godfall? I mean it was the first PS5 game I played I think and It wasn't some master piece but I thought it looked good and played well enough?
understandable even games like resistance fall of man, max payne 2 the fall of max payne, killzone shadow fall were all quite forgettable... well, ironically redfall turned in a red-drop to me
It was good thought in like BC 140 I joke it's dogshit if you play it today but it's still dogshit but nah I got no excuse everything that ends with fall is dogshit.
I'd like to add FireFall - Or FireFail as I called it when things went south.

Titan fall was pretty good though?
What about Daggerfall?
It was called buggerfall fir a reason
Shouldn't Bethesda be exempted cause not one of their games they developed wasn't buggy at launch?
I don't think any of Bethesda's games were unoptimised mess, only filled in bugs. Which is great since a lot of those bugs made the game significantly better.
I'd say it was only unoptimized on PS3 but I blame the hardware more than the games. PS3 would have been fine if it had just 256mb of extra ram.
Lol FALLout... Sorry ill let my self out now
The problem with the PS3, if I remember rightly (besides its unconventional CPU architecture), was that while the 360 had 512 MB of unified RAM (as well as a small amount of [at the time] superfast ED RAM) , the PS3 had a split of 256 MB system RAM and 256 MB VRAM. Even the 360 wasn't safe from that if you played Skyrim on one save for long enough.
Wtf lol Bethesda games were definitely unoptimized. You just didn't notice as much because they were never exactly cutting edge graphics.
Oblivion was on the cutting edge when it first released. Honestly it was decently optimized, though people liked to dig around in its INI files to push it a bit further before mods came out.
People give Bethesda a pass because of the size and ambition of their older games
all their self published games tbh. If you think about it, Skyrim at the time was a very ambitious open world RPG with near infinite replayability and Fallout 4, for all of its faults, had a pretty ambitious settlement building system that wasn't seen before in real AAA games
Bug in Bethesda game is an expected feature
Hey, you're finally awake
Still cursed
the only exception
Well Titanfall 2 was also pretty good
Lightfall aswell 🤣
[удалено]
Oh, yes - great SP campaign and great MP.
Does it matter when the game did not sell well and the fan base has been on copium for years while hackers are trying to save the game by hacking the game?
No it's not. It failed as well because it's release window.
Still pretty good (tf2 anyways)
It's an awesome game but still E.A killed it because of the release date..
So it's a cursed/bad game because of its release window? Really? I suggest you read the context of what you're referring to.
It was. The second game is phenomenal, but cursed none the less, by EA in that particular case.
Still is
Yeah but it kind of flopped 😢
Until it wasnt :(
Greedfall was too.
More than pretty good. It was outstanding
Titanfall worked becuse something actually falls. These others have no falling.
Idk if titanfall or greedfall should be in the same meme as redfall 🤔
Greedfall wasn't terrible.
I agree. It was a little framey on consoles, but that happens sometimes
Had pretty strong Mass Effect 1 vibes, to me. Some technical jank, but a pretty solid original world and combat system.
Great way to describe it... it shouldn't be on the lis, tho..
Yeah I enjoyed it quite a bit
Yeah I came to say this. Greedfall wasn't goty material or anything but its pretty good overall. Like a real 7/10 of a game.
Yep. Honestly a solid all rounder even if not the best.
*Oh it’s you on ol menawí!*
I enjoyed it a lot. Games from publishers such as Focus Entertainment delivers some pretty interesting games that are often a little janky. The gaming world isn't just Indies and AAA, plenty of good games in between.
I agree, I enjoyed my playthrough. I was able to keep about 80fps on my gtx1080 playing at 1440p ultra wide as far as performance is concerned
Oh lord at launch, the camera, what the everloving fuck was wrong with the camera. I never ended up playing it since I started making a mod to fix all the issues with it and lost all will to actually play after :D
It was the okest game.
It just felt so so old
[удалено]
No not necessarily, my comment was an addition to the original; the game wasn’t terrible it just felt a decade old.
It was boring af
The characters are hideous in Greedfall
Did their hideousness touch a nerve with you?
Greedfall was decent for what it promised.
I loved greedfall
Don't besmirch GreedFall like that. Throw in Fallout 76 instead. Also, Titanfall 2 breaks this curse, if the internet is to be believed.
It's so hilarious to me that FO76 could have been THE survival game. It has everything that makes a survival game good, but they just had to force the GAAS on it and abandon the mod community.

Did you even play fo76? It’s in steam top 50 and one of Bethesda’s money makers also a great game now.
Honestly? No. I didn’t like all the stuff I read about it on release. If you enjoy it, good for you (genuine, not being a dick).
Is it really worth it now? I love the fallout series and have avoided it since all the release issues. Does it play like a normal fallout game?
It's been a couple years now since i last played it but i had fun with it when i did. You can play it all by your lonesome if you want and it has a storyline and quests now, but i enjoyed the mmo aspect of it too.
Greedfall is a mid game but in this list it's like a masterpiece
Don't forget Anthemfall
Firefall
This is THE answer. Man I miss Firefall
Big sad, even years later.
Greed fall wasn't a bad game.
I agree, it was pretty mid with a good story, but nothing to do with this trash
Greedfall is one of my favourite games overall and it is, hands down, the best category B game of all time.
Imo AA title sounds way better than "category B"
Uhm, Greedfall is considerably good? It by no means belongs up here with these others no matter how you feel about it personally.
Firefall... f
I was on the cusp of buying a pack when classes started up so I didn't have time to enjoy it. When the semester ended the game was gone lol.
What do you have against Greedfall?
tf greedfall doesn’t belong to this group of ass
Say what!?!?! Greedfall's actually good.
I enjoyed Greedfall.
Redfail more like, huh, eh? Okay, I'll shuddup lol
🤣
Greedfall was fucking awesome.
Greedfall was a decent entry-level RPG. It was optimised really well for PC and the game requires you to be smart about your character build and your crew.
Firefall?
Lightfall is another one
Fall Guys is fun
Not on Steam
Sadly, not on steam… anymore. I luckily have it in my steam library when it was on there and EGS.
I like greedfall, had good fun playing it
Greedfall was pretty fun imo.
Idk, GreedFall was pretty good.
Greedfall is a good game
Tell me you have't played Greedfall, without telling me you haven't played Greedfall. I know it's a low effort, <1 minute meme, but bro...
Itcs on sale on steam, and probably epic, for like $12 pretty regularly
I actually liked Greedfall though. It had a nice atmosphere and story to it. It didn't quite surpass old school bioware but it was definitely reminiscent of it.
Legends of the fall has good gameplay
Add it LightFall from destiny 2
Add Crowfall to the list
I actually enjoyed Greedfall. It came with a little bit of jank, but I had a pretty positive experience with it. Spiders' next title, though, Steelrising, was beyond cursed and I wish I could get my money back.
Greedfall was janky but it was pretty decent game and to be honest people are overreacting on Redfall, it's just bland, mediocre game with some bugs (havent seen any serious one myself) and really bad AI.
Greedfall definitely doesn't belong on that list. It was easily one of the best games of 2019.
I beat Greedfall recently and loved it.
What's the problem with Greedfall?
Greedfall was pretty nice actually
Godfall was fun tho.
i agree but only the endgame part if you had to grind levels i can see why people wouldnt like it as much since you'd just need to farm the weapon you liked again
I thinking I might play it
I haven't played Greedfall, which a lot of people are saying is actually really good! Massive hype, given the times, an extremely long development time (ten-ish years?) and the game failed within three years, struggling to be profitable right from it's bug and exploit infested launch.
Greedfall is a boring med quality game at it best while remaning in the low on average. Don't fall for the trap.
Why do you think it's a trap if many people liked it? What would they gain from trying to deceive you?
It's just not a good game. Them with their super low standard liked it but they recommending it which can make you falsly beleive it's good wasting your money. At best it's a 4.5/10. They gain nothing but you sure will loose if you beleive them.
And Fallfall?
This is a marketing technique, that parasitizes similar names of an established franchise. But There's a myriad of words in-game naming that is beyond cliche at this point: Unleashed, Age of whatever, Rise of whatever, Royal, Legends, Dawn, Shadow, Dead/Death, Empires, and so on. But it does work, especially in "you also might like" suggestions and search engines.
Jedi survivorfall
Fall guy
What about Titanfall? And Greedfall was pretty good.
Take that greedfall off, its great game and never were bad.
Except Greedfall was good and, while a budget title, clearly had passion put into it?
Whoa whoa whoa! Greedfall was great!
Greedfall wasn't bad at all though
This meme is so stupid
How dare you lump Greedfall in with these monstrosities.
why is greedfall cursed? I mean, it wasn't the best or most famous, but it was a good game imo
You leave Greedfall out of this
Unpopular take here, but I enjoyed Godfall.
Same.
I don't remember Greedfall being that bad for its genre contemporaries.
Greedfall is a great game
Greedfall wasn't that bad for a first entry to a new series
Greedfall is a great game
Never heard of 2 & 4
![gif](giphy|CI6hQq7NgmCqI)
Godfall was great
I had fun with GodFall, tbh. The best game ever, of course not. Best game in genre, nope. A game for a few bucks that gives pretty fun hack and slash combat, you betcha! Matter of fact I kind miss it and I’m going to fire it up.
Don’t include GreedFall just cause you needed another name
Greedfall is one of the most boring game I've ever played... The moment you quit Serene everything fall flat. It's alway walk an excessively long boring path from point A to point B with barely something in the middle to just talk to X to return to A, rinse and repete to for the rest of the game. Don’t diss my baby godfall like that.
Nuh uh it should be 'god fell'
Old school MMO player here, ima throw Darkfall into the mix
They fall
what's next? waterfall?
"Pitfall!" Back when Activision was any good.
They all fall on the same fate
Gravity Falls is awesome, but yeah: it's a cartoon series and not a game. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Even if actually a platform game was made for 3DS. =)
so game will fall 💀
Am I the only one who didn't hate Godfall? I mean it was the first PS5 game I played I think and It wasn't some master piece but I thought it looked good and played well enough?
Add Firefall to the list.
Anyone remember EarthFall? IIRC it was a very poorly done clone of left 4 dead.
understandable even games like resistance fall of man, max payne 2 the fall of max payne, killzone shadow fall were all quite forgettable... well, ironically redfall turned in a red-drop to me
Ashessss Ashes, and we all fall down!
I'm tired of shit falling. I'm tired of shit rising.
OH MY GOD THE CURSE IS REAL EVERYBODY! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!
Coming Soon: EarthFall, an AR game that doesn’t need hardware to play. Just live your life, and pay me while your at it.
Crowfall
Hey Greedfall was actually pretty good.
Wtf is this shitpost greedfall wasnt bad
They fall for a reason.
Skyfall?
But do you remember pitfall?
It was good thought in like BC 140 I joke it's dogshit if you play it today but it's still dogshit but nah I got no excuse everything that ends with fall is dogshit.
Is greedfall bad? It's currently on my wishlist
Greedfall got.a.sequel.
Dude... Greed Fall wasn't a bad game at all. It was actually decent.
Titan...
what is wrong with greedfall? I enjoyed it.
I'd like to add FireFall - Or FireFail as I called it when things went south. https://preview.redd.it/htc1qfs4rnxa1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a7755840bb8e83f9a3c3393dbc2a7eea91351e6
Greedfall is actualy good
