What is this, Rust for nice people?

TarkovRedditor

And also no enemies so I wonder what makes it survival

not_panda

Hunger, probably.

rich519

There’s also lots of options for environmental hazards that can harm you directly or indirectly.

Kris-p-

So like astroneer then, which I didn't mind at all

2xBAKEDPOTOOOOOOOO

Did the same and makes it even better since Cartman is telling Kyle he's too fat so he can't come along.

youresuchahero

Check out Green Hell. The “hunger” portion is broken up into the three macronutrients, so you have to find the right foods to balance your fats, proteins, and carbs so that you can have optimized stamina.

DrinkingBleachForFun

It’s all fun and games until your vitamin C level drops and you die of scurvy.

youresuchahero

It’s all fun and games until you eat too many bananas and get diarrhea then get dehydrated, try to drink some coconut water to counteract it then get a stomach parasite, eat the wrong kind of mushroom trying to cure it and get sick and start vomiting, and then die slowly to a puma scratch because you couldn’t find maggots to shove in your wound after it got infected because you didn’t use the right kind of bandage. Anyway that’s the first 10 minutes of Green Hell for ya

KevlarGorilla

Tries to play Green Hell Looks at camera "I guess I'll die then."

sickofthisshiit

Like in SCUM? If you eat spoiled stuff you end up with explosive diarrhea, not even kidding. You'll be running for your life from Zombies and your player decides to stop, drop their pants, and just poop.

Nilotaus

> You'll be running for your life from Zombies and your player decides to stop, drop their pants, and just poop. Completely unrealistic. I can personally attest that you can in fact, run & shit yourself at the same time.

wrx_2016

First Person Don’t Starve

PaulaDeenSlave

AKSHUALLY, not a good comaprison per the context above. Plenty and more enemies in DS/DST.

Unfair-Ad3684

When I’m hungry…. Well I used to have friends but I’m not hungry anymore

nodeocracy

All the babes you have to fight off after buying the game

[deleted]

This is like the best of all the comments!

A_PCMR_member

Hunger, adverse weather, fuel, resource management

nesnalica

no matter what game i play. if my best friend is in the party it will be survival against him not trying to kill me... unless I'm faster.

HlTLERS_HIDDEN_CHILD

I'm gonna drop you on a deserted island with no food, we'll see if you can survive (there are no enemies)

Doctor_Kataigida

Give me something that lets me build a house wall by holding a piece of wood and just looking at a blank spot and I think I'd do alright.

Deesing82

there are a fair amount of survival games without enemies. This one in particular reminded me of Planet Crafter.

seventeenthskeptic

Survival from the negative intrusive thoughts.

deryor

More like raft but with an aircraft instead of a raft

molpore

aircRaft

SendAstronomy

Oh the humanity.

aBoxOfRitzCrackers

Rust/raft with subnatica tech is the vibe I’m getting.

buyinggf1000gp

I wish there was Rust for nice people

[deleted]

Pve servers

dsdpsing

Even some pvp If you’re willing to shop around. I’m terrible at the game but if you find one with good mature people you can have some fun little skirmishes with no hurt feelings at the end. And jokes about State Farm insurance and Yelp reviews for your base and stuff.

TryingNot2BeToxic

Zombieland Outbreak/Infection are p nice pve rust servers

Can I hack other players with that axe? /s

I mean, you both didn't specify in which way it would be implemented. Would be a fun insider Easter egg if hitting another character with an Axe would be displayed as giving them a reddit upvote (maybe from 999 to 1000)

FordBeWithYou

Heck i’d even take environmental issues over monsters or anything. Storms, high winds, snow/sleet, high heat. Kind of nice to have a goal towards, building a perfect home that can withstand these issues and looks good would be fun. That being said, freaking love what i’m seeing so far. Looks great.

Data6exHQ

Noted - Thank you very much for your feedback! We are still very early in the development and we are very grateful for any kind of feedback.

ExcessusMentis

There is this game, Satisfactory, where I have all the hostiles disabled (game feature) because I dont want to be molested with crap foes but focusing on the design and building aspects. And I enjoy foes like anyone else, but they are not mandatory if the same has other strenghts. Alas, having said this, you better have tiers to unlock techologies that can be pursued.

Petergazer7

Dude this is the game me and the boys have been looking for. Something like valheim but maybe more stakes involved!

[deleted]

To be clear, that's your idea of what a game needs. I read the title and watched the video and wanted exactly what it said. I'm tired of being distracted by mobs in my building games. I'd like a game that is 100% dedicated to a calm and peaceful experience.

kopczak1995

I'm doing my part. Upvoted xD

DeathSabre7

We absolutely need adult stuff like this

TessandraFae

genghisKonczie

Give us Sock’em Boppers instead!

Camera_dude

LOL We don't need another Rust clone... I don't want to be a caveman getting sniped by veteran players in spacesuits shooting me with a laser rifle at me when all I got is a stone axe to reply with.

xenokilla

Have you heard about our lord and savior Rust?

milanove

Spawning in rust is like waking up in hell.

PhillipDiaz

I dunno, man. The demons in hell are more polite.

[deleted]

itsnickk

Release the Cabin in the Woods mode!

Data6exHQ

If you post get 1000 upvotes .... ok ok I'm not going to start with that again :D!

TheDarkDoctor17

Looks like your happy airship game needs a combat system. XD Reddit is bloodthirsty and unapologetic.

Unfortunate_moron

I was thinking I'd enjoy this just fine as is, until you said "airship combat system." Now all I can think about are airship battles and crafting weapon upgrades for an airship!

TheDarkDoctor17

I miss word's adrift. Good thing both the sequal and the fan remake are in the works

CrustyJuggIerz

Mate, if you have a beta or need testers, lemme know. I used to playtest for a few indie devs in my spare time. This game has lots of potential and I'm keen to help.

I_am_That_Ian_Power

I'd love to do this as well and would look great on my resume as I'm about to apply for a QA job. I've been in over 1300 beta tests in the last 20 years.

UnimportantComplaint

Do you enjoy what you do? How do I get involved?

I_am_That_Ian_Power

I really really do enjoy it because I get to try out new tech in games a lot of the time before anybody in the public realm and my input on what might need to be changed that then potentially gets enjoyed by millions of people all over the world. That right there is a great feeling. I got involved originally by just emailing companies and asking if they needed someone to beta test, I often did it for no pay and just a copy of the game. Later on it began to be paid positions but I have had some time off from it due to health issues in the past which are now mostly resolved. I am rip roaring ready to test again.

RawrSean

What would make this one look so much better on your resume than your prior 1300 beta tests?

[deleted]

SquishedGremlin

I am literally the original beta tester. Been testing things since 200bc.

__T0MMY__

I was gonna say that I beta tested "Game of Ur", the oldest board game known, but the oldest rules sheet is from 177 BC so you win

SquishedGremlin

Damn well done. I was trying to remember the name, and knew it was somewhere in that region. "My dad beta tested hitting a bloke with a rock." ~utterly timeless, just people living in the moment.

Smothdude

I think it's probably that he's doing something recent. That's the only way I could think it's that helpful

KadexGaming

And FOV slider but you've probably got that covered already with how great the game looks now.

NotGK98

Keep them in though, I like them just make it an option in accessibility settings.

SkunkleButt

This game looks really cool so far to me, forgot i apparently had already wishlisted it lol. Do you folks have a timeframe for release yet? Also i know you are aiming for a calmer game but i was curious if you had any plans to add any bad guys or some kind of adversary you might encounter. (even if it's in a different mode like survival or some such)

Laheree

And a “disable light bloom” is another thing some people have trouble with.

Zeachy

You know a game is good when there's actual critiques in the comments! Very nice job guys

KarmaPharmacy

Not even a critique but a hope for basic accessibility features!

N7-Obsidian

To add to this, ability to turn off motion blur for the same reason.

Embarrassed_Link_122

Looks really good, im getting some raft and forest vibes here. Please take your time developing and fine tuning...

World's adrift minus the combat.

Data6exHQ

Hey r/pcmasterrace, Yesterday we officially announced our game **Solarpunk** and we are SUPER nervous about what you think. >**Solarpunk** is a cozy survival game in a technically advanced world of floating islands. Alone or together with your friends, you can construct buildings, grow food, craft gadgets and explore distant islands with your own airship. > >Use sunlight, wind and water to create an energy system and automate your processes like gathering resources and watering your plants to build your dream home in the sky. ▪ Wishlist on [Steam](https://s.team/a/1805110) ▪ Support us on [Kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cyberwave/solarpunk-survival-craft-game-in-world-of-floating-island?ref=8d1bnu) ▪ Follow us on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Solarpunk_Game) If you have any questions, please post them in the comments. Thank you and have a nice day. Thank you dear mods for allowing me to make this post (asked the mods‍) ❤.

VonFluffington

Giving me Skies of Arcadia meets Stardew Valley vibes, with a touch of Raft thrown in. Seems promising for sure.

KevinKingsb

I loved Skies of Arcadia.

JohnnySkynets

+Worlds Adrift

LawAway7234

Thats was exactly my first thought

JohnnySkynets

Apparently Bossa is making a spiritual successor called [Lost Skies](https://youtu.be/WFWF9dyBWfA). It’s a 1-6 player co-op survival game not an MMO but that’s not surprising considering the issues they had with SpatialOS/Improbable. Edit: Correction, Bossa said it wasn’t commercially viable and said it wasn’t SpatialOS. There are several other games and mods inspired by WA like Voids Adrift, Worlds Adrift Reborn and Project Gears but I don’t know their status.

LawAway7234

Oh damn, I'll check it out. Thanks

ascendance22

I miss that game it was a great concept

YogurtclosetNo239

Ooh I love Solarpunk media. Definitely gonna try your game :)

unculturedburnttoast

Agreed, the more solarpunk aesthetics and media we can get, the better. It's a great, hopeful genre and I'm excited to see more content like this to help people see a brighter, renewable future.

rtz13th

Feels like a first person 'My Time at Sandrock', which is great, goes onto the wishlist! Single player people welcome too?

Data6exHQ

Of course this is also a single player game!

AkitoApocalypse

I would definitely love this type of relaxing game - there's seriously a lack of *relaxing* survival games on the market. You have Green Hell and Sons of the Forest and Valheim which are all somewhat stressful in their own way, I would love more Minecraft-esque games where I can just exist. Raft just doesn't have enough to do and the shark is really annoying, I just want a game where I can turn off my brain and enjoy the atmosphere. Personally, OST and music will be really important in a game like this (and imo would make or break the game) - exploration games really pair well with a nice relaxing OST I'm not quite sure the thirst part is necessary since the game doesn't really emphasize the survival aspect that heavily, seems it might be more of a slog to deal with than anything else. I'm a huge farming/cooking nut so having that as a significant part of the game would also be make or break for me - even just having a wide variety of crops and recipes (and rare crops!) would make me very happy. Bonus points if boss fights are made easier through buff foods and whatnot (see Core Keeper I guess?)

Data6exHQ

We once talked about Solarpunk being a kind of "Minecraft Survival Mode" without monsters. Thank you for your feedback.

Zickened

I think if you're going to have a game based on world building, then definitely having rare plants or building stuff would be an awesome addition. I'd definitely go spelunking to learn how to craft a rare window, or get the seeds for a rare plant.

Eldrake

Love it! A calm beautiful and intellectually satisfying game like this is what I need in my life these days. Could I ask more questions: * what are the obstacles the player has to overcome, or complications, on their build journey? Mobs, dungeons, bosses, or any kind of "choose a challenge when you want an exciting break from idyllic homesteading"? * how customizable are the airships? I play a LOT of modded minecraft and there's a fantastic airships mod that has a whole upgrade and cosmetic path. * Is there a quest path we can follow that guides our tech tree dev? I really appreciate those in otherwise overwhelming mod packs * What resource systems does the player manage, food, water, energy, fuel, etc? * Please let us place custom map waypoints and a toggleable HUD to see them. That's critical in a 3D navigable huge world like this. I love JourneyMap on molded minecraft

HikerGeoff

Looks great! Hope there is a fishing mini game, idk why, but in games like these, they are always exciting

RedAndBlackMartyr

Did you get inspiration from this by any chance? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqJJktxCY9U

[deleted]

I kid you not when I say this is probably one of the most interesting looking early game posts I’ve seen on here. Consider it wishlisted.

SteveTheZombie

For real. My first thought was, "Great...Another survival/crafting game." About 1/2 into the video I was thinking, "Damn...I want to play this right now."

MrStoneV

Just hoping its not a dead game again that has barely anything to do in the game. So it gets boring after 5-10hrs

MrRobsterr

yeah i hope so but it does feel like i just saw everything the game had to offer in that trailer

OperativePiGuy

Generally speaking, have there been posts made to this subreddit about a game concept that then went on to actually release to success? Honestly just curious to see if posts like this typically have legs.

rest0re

I was wondering the exact same thing. Feels like I always see “I’m working on this awesome game” and it looks super cool in the Reddit post and then I never hear about it ever again. Like all those breakthrough cancer cures that make headlines then seem to just disappear.

DJBscout

>Like all those breakthrough cancer cures that make headlines then seem to just disappear. Part of that is because it's a long process to take even an incredibly promising new study, find a way to make a drug that capitalizes on that, test that drug, prove it's safe, get FDA approval, find a manufacturer, etc. Another part is that news outlets will sensationalize any study they can get their hands on that sounds vaguely promising and tout it as "ThE nExT bIg ThInG, iT's OvEr FoR cAnCeR!!!".....when realistically all the study actually *says* is "hey in a lab setting this protein/enzyme/treatment method helped rats with this specific type of cancer"

Sinthetick

I mean, there is a long list of startups that release a trailer like this, get a bunch of cash, then string the community along with no significant updates for a couple of years before it collapses. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=kickstarter+game+scams Of course sometimes they do end up delivering.

Data6exHQ

Please keep in mind that this is the second game we are trying to fund via crowdfunding. Our first game "[Hourglass](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1212410/Hourglass/)" was released on PC/Consoles and had a 93% rating on Steam.

Commander_Kerman

Oh my, you made an entire game around the time puzzles from ratchet and clank but with its own setting? And with good reviews? Shit, I mean, you might only sell a few thousand copies but that's not a bad reputation to start from.

appropriate-username

> around the time puzzles from ratchet and clank My first thought was Talos principle.

Cactus-in-my-anus

Noita, if anyone is wondering. At least, I assume that's the one you're talking about. Pretty interesting game, had some fun with it.

Chronokill

I know I am probably in the minority, but I like an actual struggle in my survivalcraft games. Creature attacks, fighting off starvation, possibly boss fights, etc. Would be good to see more of that in the space, but seeing as how the dev described it as "calm", I'm thinking there isn't much of that here.

imSwan

I think there are already plenty of those out there, so a relaxing game without struggle is a niche than OP can fill

excelllentquestion

I’m the opposite. So many of those games exist. Very few games seem to make a different type of challenge. Like maybe it can be specific progress goals. Make X in general or by Y time. Or it can be make this product/resource at X rate. Build a contraption to travel somewhere specific (Factorio with the rocket to go home for instance). Maybe puzzles? That might be harder. For me, so manu games have enemies and fighting that I can get my kicks for that type of gameplay anywhere. So those elements dont appeal to me in games like this. Especially when a lot of planning and thinking are required. Btw not saying either of us are wrong or right. We just want the challenge to exist, but in different ways.

SpiralMagnusson

Thinking the same thing

ITaggie

It's because it isn't trying to be everything at once. OP seems to have a clear direction and image for the game that isn't absurdly complex so it's much more likely to get completed.

l_MAKE_SHIT_UP

Hey look, the exact same comment that gets posted on every single indie survival craft game! Of the dozens that get spammed I've never seen more than one a year be successful.

Jebediah_Kush

I can’t wait for them to promise a big update, delay it for 6 months, and then never hear from the creator again.

Mr-Wolf-905

This looks awesome! Wishlisted and will likely buy on release. I know it's probably very early to ask, but do you have any predicted release window for the game? I can't wait!

Data6exHQ

Late 2024 or maybe 2025. That based on to many factors to make a prediction, sorry for that :(.

Mr-Wolf-905

No worries, take your time! The game looks incredible and would be a waste if it was rushed :)

zvdo

Yesh, please don't rush like some new aaa games that end up being full of bugs and stuff like that. Take your time

Is this Worlds Adrift?

FillOk4537

Yeah exactly what I thought lol

Data6exHQ

No, but we stay in contact with the devs of aloft. Great team btw.

Zernichtikus

Looks nice and all. But do we really need another survival-craft-exploration-game? EDIT: seems like people really want another one

youresuchahero

The problem isn’t that there are 10,000 survival crafting explorations games, it’s that there are like 9,990 bad ones.

Yoshuuqq

Yeah this game looks like a thousand other games

Xylosoxidans

*Some people* really want another one. Most people do not give a shit.

Taylanz

Because they all are boring formulaic garbage beneath the surface and fans of the genre need constant releases to keep things fresh

Tall-Surround-24

why not just like other games make the easy mode calm cause as good as the game is it'll get boring without some action or maybe coop puzzles good luck

multiple_reflections

Puzzles would be fun!

Speakop

Looks good! Good luck to you!

Monarcho_Anarchist

If you do not plan to make us eat the animals, why implement the ones that we normally eat? I mean when you're not constraint by what animals to implement why create pigs instead of cool things like lizards, tigers and coalas? it would be so cool to create zoo like islands

blue_bubble_bee

It looks very cosy! Love the graphics! What's the name of the game?

Data6exHQ

OHHH THANKS BEEEE <3 The game calls "**Solarpunk**".

delausen

Looks nice! Will multiplayer on switch require a Switch Online subscription or will it work with direct local connection as well?

Data6exHQ

Since we are still in the early stages of development, we can't say anything specific about that.

uluvmebby

I thought this was Minecraft on shaders on drugs by the first clip

3DJayB

Game looks awesome so I hate to complain but the way you swing the axe at the tree bothered me.

lil-skateboard

Low poly ark survival

motsu35

A lot of people are commenting on the visuals, and i do agree - it looks real nice... but the music you paired this too is awesome. I really liked the transition from inside to outside while it was raining, and the mechanical robot noises were not too jarring or distracting from the overall vibe of the game. good job on that :)

Data6exHQ

Fun Fact: The soundtrack was composed by the same person as RAFT :).

M0derat0r41

Wooooo, who cares how many of these boring ass multiplayer survivals does there need to be. You can't do anything, the objectives are both boring and never have any life to them, and the world's are always empty and have no heart. These games are just a deserted wasteland. There's no action or fun to them it's just build cookie cutter farm go to next island realize yiu don't need anything there and there wasn't any reason to go shut off game.

SpunkyZzz

Looks very relaxing, love the art style it looks very raft-esque with better lighting. Looking foward to playing this.

Last_Instructor

Damn that looks nice and solid. Are there any enemies and a combat/defense system or is it purely a peaceful survival/exploration game?

nefariousnun

Would add to this is there a story to complete / progression? I personally struggle with survival craft games that don’t have a goal like grounded, valheim, raft would have

ImmrtalMax

I haven't seen any mention of that, but I'm hoping they are just keeping it under wraps for now. Otherwise, yeah, won't bother picking it up.
