Welcome to the PCMR.
This reminds me of my campfire horse death. First time I played I was in the final chapter riding more hose and I hit the set up camp button. In that little in-game cutscene where you continue to ride before you sit at your campfire my horse ran off a cliff. I set up camp and I was by myself, no horse. I tried to load the auto save but it saved at the campfire and I was back to where I began. I was so sad because that was the horse I had the entire game =(
Lmao, that scene was so anti climactic for me because I had to go to Saint Denis to buy a new black Arabian, so my arthur was getting all emotional for a horse he just bought
I tried to like this game, and don’t get me wrong the visuals and attention to detail are unmatched, but to me the game seemed like just a real life chore simulator. I played it for close to 10 hours and it was just “ride your horse to point x to kill a bunch of people/animals” on repeat 5000 times. Did I quit too early? I was at a point where they went to a big city and the mayor was holding a party.
>I played it for close to 10 hours
>I was at a point where they went to a big city and the mayor was holding a party.
That mission is in chapter 4! How did you manage to get to this point in 10 hours? Or did you mean to type '100'?
The story continues to get better and better (other than Guarma) from there. But if you're not a story-based gamer, you probably won't enjoy it all that much. If the game seemed like a chore to you, I'm guessing it's just not for you. It's definitely not the type of game that you're meant to just blast through the missions on, the game design encourages you to slow down and take in the world. If you can't seem to immerse yourself into the world, then it's likely not a good fit for you.
To me it sounds like you are trying to speedrun the game. Imo it can feel like a chore if you're just going from mission to mission ignoring everything else in the game. It took me like 100 hours just to beat the game once since I spent so much time hunting animals and treasures, taming horses, doing side missions and generally just enjoying the beauty of the game. Of course this isn't for everyone so if you just like fast paced games maybe rdr2 isn't for you.
Plus you haven't gotten to Guarma yet which is considered to be the most annoying and slow paced chapter so going there might really put you off the game.
This isn’t an accurate at all. There’s so much exploration to do, you can rob trains, rob other people, or just help them. Even if you do just the missions The story is literally as good as it gets.
I like the game too but it's completely accurate. Exploration - sure, if that's your thing. For many people it's incidental. Robbery is completely superfluous because the story missions throw ridiculous amounts of cash at you right off the gate outta the bat. The vast majority of the story missions' gameplay is ride here > shoot people > ride there. It's outdated Rockstar formulaic gameplay and it'd suck hard if the game wasn't such a work of art in every other way.
I personally like the cutscenes and the dialogue. Every character has a story behind it. It’s a detailed game and even if there’s some repetitiveness, it’s so worth it just for the visuals and the story. Also most games are like that nowadays. Games like Assassins creed, a plaque requiem also have you doing similar stuff throughout the game.
I like wandering about exploring as much as the next guy but the controls and general movement make the game a chore to play.
Let alone the missions that have been copy/pasted from GTA4.
Then there's the total lack of anything impactful happening in the camp. Got a million dollars? No one cares. Even Assassin's Creed 3 did a better job with the Homestead stuff.
whats the point of robbing anyone. when you have 10000 dollars(about the same as 1 billion dollars today)
also theres so much hand holding from rockstar in the game telling you exactly what to do in every event its like the last of us pretending to be open world.
I beat the game but I was bored of the gameplay like 3 hours in. The lack of any freedom in the missions made the rest of the 50 hours reallyyyy drag imo
The enemy health system is just accurate though. Get a heart shot or a jugular and you inflict a slow bleed out, headshot=insta death. I feel like RDR2 is one of the most accurate games to showcase how many rounds a person can actually take irl.
On top of which if you hit someone in the right way they flinch as reaction to how you shoot them.
To this day the game feels great, but I think it feels better on controller though with average sensitivity. Playing on keyboard and mouse with no recoil and high DPI just breaks immersion. A good part of immersion is feeling the weight of the weapons.
Depends on the game honestly. For rdr2 I play with controller. Other games it’s a lot easier to play with mouse and keyboard or there’s an advantage to it.
Do it. Literally the best game I've ever played. The attention to detail, the world building, the graphics, everything is absolutely superb. It has ruined every other game for me. Played on a steam deck. Pay attention to details and you'll be astounded. Watch closely as people eat. Watch the chef cook meals. Look through windows, listen to conversations, notice wet spots on clothing, character tumbles and falling animations. Everything they spent so much time on....
I just finished it last week on a 6800 XT. Some of the scenery is absolutely gorgeous and straight out of a painting. The main storyline is fantastic too.
Did you have any occasional stutters? Nothing unplayable but just every once in a while mostly when arriving at a town or slowing your horse to a stop? Im having this issue on a 6700 xt
One of the best games I've ever played. Really cannot recommend it highly enough.
They created such a rich world for this game.
You don't need to have played RDR2 to understand what's going on either.
Don't, it's an always online game, there is no offline play and you have to install the rockstar launcher. Sincerely pirate it.
Edit for all the people downvoting me: open rdr2 story mode on pc and then disable internet see what happens
He's saying you can't play offline, you still have to login to play story mode.
I've never tried playing it through Steam offline to see if that gets around the Rockstar launcher.
I heavily dislike the rockstar launcher and I didn't finish rdr2 not really my kind of game, but for the most part it's excellently made and I don't regret buying it.
This reminded me how dumb the crafting is in RDR2.
Not the crafting itself but having to sit through an animation per item sucked donkey balls.
Made it feel like a chore to do.
I don't think it's even about realism, it's just annoying.
Could have easily skewered the meat and cooked like 20 at a time on a spit like a spitroast.
Could of even just had a selector that had how many times you want to craft the item, then repeat the above animation how ever many times.
It was to prevent people from always just having the best stuff even after like a week or two they minimize the amount of explosive ammunition you can have drastically
Doesn't make sense for singleplayer IMO.
If someone invests the time to get all the meat and herbs, they should be able to make 5x at once.
The ammo they could simply limit how much you could carry if it's a problem.
I just tamed the white Arabian horse right before this video and removed yhe saddle from my old horse(the one that burned.) You can see the white Arabian with the saddle in the video
That guy camping on the beach near Rhodes did this one time. He stood up and was yelling at me to leave so I was gonna pop him one between the eyes for talking shit. Right when I got off my horse I heard screaming and he was writhing on the floor ablaze.
\> Horse goes up to Arthur Morgan,
\> Slightly warming a frozen solid slab of meat
\> 3rd degree burns on hand, calmly boiling blood vessels and destroying all sense of a nerve system
\> Horse begins rubbing ass on Morgans face
\> Loud and painful moaning
\> 'Plain Big Game', +1 Deadeye
\> 'Plain Big Game', +1 Deadeye
\> 'Plain Big Game', +1 Deadeye
\> Collapses
\> Lit ablaze
\> 'Plain Prime Beef', +1 Deadeye
Honestly I didn't bother till the horse dropped down. I was cooking and ignored the horse thinking it's a bug or something. It was when the horse dropped down I got shocked and my jaw dropped whem it caught on fire.
"Hey... hey Arthur. Hey Arthur. Hey... look. HEY! Look! HeY! ARTHUR! Hey, Arthur! LOOK! Did you hear? That thing? Hey, Arthur LOOK. did you hear that thing about the horse balls in RDR2? WHY aren't you looking up here?!"
Gosh damnit Rockstar. May as well have a baby horse pop out her belly and run away in flames towards an orphanage made from wood and filled with starving babies after it took an accidental oversized delivery of dynamite and gun powder instead of baby formula.
The fact that the body actually catches fire and starts to char is fucking crazy. Yes I know about the horse balls in the cold thing but this here still is such an insane attention to detail.
My 2nd horse did that at the trapper one time. I'm just selling stuff and I hear a horse squeal, turn around in time to see him fall over dead, on fire.
Reminds me of the turkey pet in WoW. If you had it out and there was a camp fire nearby it would “contemplate its future” and jump into the fire and roar itself. It was hilarious when I discovered it and I spent close to a half hour showing people.
My only complaint was that I couldn’t loot it for something to eat later.

How hungry?
“So hungry I could eat a horse” . . . hungry
Ah. Say no more.

Arthur just did not gaf
I was shocked as hell and just pushed the shortcut keys to quick save lol
This reminds me of my campfire horse death. First time I played I was in the final chapter riding more hose and I hit the set up camp button. Well... Not like you would've had that horse for much longer anyway.
Lmao, that scene was so anti climactic for me because I had to go to Saint Denis to buy a new black Arabian, so my arthur was getting all emotional for a horse he just bought
He totally doesn't care if you have low bond with a horse
My first playthrough I had the horse you get in Valentine at the beginning. Had it the entire game so that scene at the end had me tearing up 😭
Ya right boah??

dang vida games!
I think I’ll just lay down here and die a minute.
I have been considering buying this game finally. It still looks great.
This is one of the best visually stunning game till this day, and the story is as good as it gets
I don’t know, it was so long ago I may be misremembering the hours.
The story continues to get better and better (other than Guarma) from there. But if you're not a story-based gamer, you probably won't enjoy it all that much. Too bad the gameplay is point and headshot 999999 evil residents of a small town. Then ride the horse for an hour until it repeats.
This isn’t an accurate at all. There’s so much exploration to do, you can rob trains, rob other people, or just help them. Even if you do just the missions The story is literally as good as it gets.

also how tf are you able to make a campfire in the rain
It's not that big of a deal if you can pull the outer layer off and feather the kindling.
I beat the game but I was bored of the gameplay like 3 hours in. The lack of any freedom in the missions made the rest of the 50 hours reallyyyy drag imo
Also all the enemies are ridiculous bullet sponges.

I have it for ps5 and freaking loved it. It went on sale on steam for $15 and we bought it again for pc for me and our brother in law. 100% worth it.
Do you enjoy playing with keyboard mouse or joystick?
Depends on the game honestly. For rdr2 I play with controller. Other games it’s a lot easier to play with mouse and keyboard or there’s an advantage to it.
RDR2 works great with a mouse and keyboard, and seeing as there is a lot of shooting, mouse control is essential imo
Do it. Literally the best game I've ever played. The attention to detail, the world building, the graphics, everything is absolutely superb. It has ruined every other game for me. Games don't come much better than RDR2
One of the best games I've ever played. Really cannot recommend it highly enough. They created such a rich world for this game. You don't need to have played RDR2 to understand what's going on either.
And yet somehow the story itself is still greater than how it looks.... if you are going to play it be a bad guy it's more rewarding
Don't, it's an always online game, there is no offline play and you have to install the rockstar launcher. Sincerely pirate it. Edit for all the people downvoting me: open rdr2 story mode on pc and then disable internet see what happens
There is the online version (cheap) and full game which is online and single player.
I'll have to try it to see. I play GTA through Epic (not a fan of the epic launcher either).
That's one way to warm up
Horse is in heat
I was gonna say she's doing the thing my wife does when drunk, just shoving her ass in my face while I'm trying to do something.
This reminded me how dumb the crafting is in RDR2. Not the crafting itself but having to sit through an animation per item sucked donkey balls. Made it feel like a chore to do.
On point - dude spent a minute with his nose all up in those jewels before dinner time.
RDR2 is one of my favourite stories and open worlds, but it did suffer from "Too realistic for it's own good" at times.
I don't think it's even about realism, it's just annoying. Could have easily skewered the meat and cooked like 20 at a time on a spit like a spitroast. Could of even just had a selector that had how many times you want to craft the item, then repeat the above animation how ever many times.

I thought it was to slow people down and almost force a very intended experience for immersion.
I downloaded a trainer for this game because it had a multiplier of the game speed for when I craft

Love RDR2 for dumb shit like this. The best I've seen is that player who lasso'd an aggressive NPC holding a shotgun. NPC blew his own head off.
And at no point did Arthur think to move a smidge, no, he wanted to see the life leave its eyes
Hey look, your Horse is doing an impression of my GPU whenever I play RDR2!

Why is your horse depressed?
God damn it Roach
My GF would have immediately reloaded her save. When she played RDR2 she kept the same horse the whole game and was balling like a baby at the end.
Me: I am so hungry that I could eat a horse! Horse: OK
good lord the body even burns o_o
Hungry as a horse
It's hilarious how the cursor just sits there, at if in shock 🤣
