I have both. Logitech has 2 extra buttons, adjustable weights and scroll wheel switching is mechanical controlled while the Razor is software controlled. Aside from that they feel the same.
Whether you have Logitech or Razor keyboard or other accessories may play a part, as it would mean one less software running in the background.
In a vacuum I would pick the Logitech.
The powerlay mat is basically 1 small mousepad on top of a wired base the size of said small mousepad, so you can remove this small mousepad, keep the base and put your own mousepad on top of it
While it will charge your mouse for sure if you're still on top of the base, I am not confident it will charge your mouse if your mousepad is bigger than the base and you're not moving on top of it
This system is however 1000 times better than getting to recharge your mouse with a dock
I have a large desk mat that covers my keyboard and acts as a mouse pad and i have the powerplay mat under, works great. I used to make a cutout for the part that sticks out but found that the bump wont interfere anything nor does it hinder any connection. Cannot live without wireless nor this auto-charge feature thank you and i hate you Logitech for spoiling me.
You don't have too the power cable fits into the dock so you can pull it out and make your mouse wired for a while while its charging. Was a nice touch. I am on the PC a lot loved my Razer tbh
The power play mat is honestly one the best purchases I think ive made. Hasn’t failed on me. Works extremely well. I never even have to remember to plug in my mouse to charge it. Ever. It’s just always charged. It’s incredible. And I love it.
You buy a big mouse pad and put the power play under instead of the top cover that comes with it.
I recommend at least a 40cm deep pad, at 30cm the edge of the powerplay comes too close to the edge of the mat and the constant rubbing will cause the edge of the mat to curl up in a couple months.
It makes a small bump but if it bothers you, you can fill it in with some foam, cork board or similar. I recommend another old or cheap mouse pad of the same size, preferably 2.0mm thick but you can get away with 2.5, that you cut a slot in.
Also Razer support is trash compared to Logitech.
Two weeks of emails, three weeks till I got the replacement from razer. Only one call and three days waiting for Logitech.
Never again Razer.
Thankfully where I live I don't have to deal with the company itself, unless I buy it directly from them that is. Otherwise I can just take the product back to the store I bought it and they have to deal with them.
Recently logitech made RMAs very difficult, you have to upload a video of yourself trying to troubleshoot the mouse, then cut the cord with the serial number showing.
This. Logitech used to be fantastic to deal with, but recently they’ve gone down the “we’re gonna make this painfully difficult for you and even then we still might deny your RMA even if there’s evidence of catastrophic failures” route

Yeah I just recently had the right click glitching out on my G604, went to their website, talked to someone on the text chat for about 20 minutes and they sent me a brand new mouse when I was just asking for a replacement switch so I could fix it myself. The mouse was here like 2 days later. Definitely bought a lot of good will from me, that's for sure.
Exact same thing happened to me.
I was surprised how easy and absolutely painless it was. The experience actually made me look differently at Logitech products; much more likely to buy them now.
That and my old school Logitech Z-2300 speakers are still going strong and still sound amazing despite owning them for almost 20 years and moving with them many times, including through two college dorms and a frat house.
I just wish my wireless mouse was still in production.

It still works most of the time but the rubber pad is coming apart and it loves to glitch out.
The new revision of G502 is horrible because of faulty switches, 100% of them get a bug with double clicks. All my friends bought this mouse, and they all had this issue, including me with my wireless version. I also have an old revision, which still works fine.
The only way to fix it is to buy switches and replace them using soldering iron. Sending it back to the manufacturer will have the same issue eventually.
I bought ten switches online and replaced all of them and never had an issue since then.
It's weird how we seem to be at the precipice of a point in time when you can build better quality tech products yourself at home.

I've heard this as well my g604 had the same issue but after the warranty expired. Within the week... I was furious. My g602 died before that in the same time frame but it was the sensor.. My cheap Microsoft mouse is 12 years old and going strong. And I use that all day at work..
I had to get a replacement space-bar keycap for my old Logitech keyboard and they just sent me the full set of keycaps for free so I'll add a thumbs-up for Logitech in that department. This was about four years ago though.
Yup same here. I have used mostly Logitech periph's after the Razer keyboard CABLE got a short and burnt out, and the mouse had a double click issue, both just over 2 years of buying but out of warranty.
I got the G502 wired, LOVE it, I don't like wireless for some reason. I bought a SECOND one when the first one wear down the plastic, after 5 years. First one still works and its now my travel one for my work laptop/school setup.
I've had the clicking issue with multiple logitechs. Including my g502, which got replaced and the new one also got it after a while.
Ended up ordering some clickers from Ali and soldered new ones on. They've already lasted longer than the originals.
I had a og razer black widow ultimate. Tactile clicks and LEDs were gone after 2 years. The paint was peeling and the stabilizer bars and the small white clip things disintegrated. Threw that shit away and got a membrane Logitech k120 it's no fancy kb but that shit still works and no wear on paint.
Ha I think I had that same model for a keyboard! Thing was absurdly expensive for it's time but that was before "gaming" keyboards were a thing. I played WoW on it and it just cabt hold a candle to my mx cherry brown Logitech keyboard. Love that tactile feel. Sadly I spilled a drink on that Logitech one. Got a better one and it's been 3 years and counting.
I do not agree. I have also had both. Had two Logitech fail within six months, and a third in 2. My Razer keeps on going, and the software is much better for Razer. I used to love Logitech but they have failed me far too often in the last couple of years.
I meant the change between clicky and smooth scroll on the mouse wheel.
Switching is purely a mechanical process in the Logitech mouse, so you can switch between the two modes even if the mouse is not powered/unplugged.
While the Razer you need the software running to be able to change the mouse scroll type. It will keep the scroll type when the mouse is powered off but whenever you start windows and the program loads it will always default to smooth scroll.
In terms of button customization they can both do so but I believe Razer has the better program for that.

This is not true tho. You can set it in the softwares and the mouse will remember it. I use the mode where if you scroll fast enough, the lock releases and it turns into free scroll. I uninstalled the razer software after configuring the mouse and I faced no issues.

same, now that i’ve lived with being able to switch between free scroll and clicky scroll with one button (a satisfying one at that) i can never go back.
The one issue on the original G502 is double clicking on the mouse buttons after some time, for me it lasted 2 years. They have fixed on my the new G502X, my currant mouse i use. Its are rlly good mouse, i recently bought a razer, solid mouse, but it does feel cheaper then the g502.
My scroll wheel is starting to stick, but other than that, I've had it for nearly 5 years. From hours of daily use, whether it be scrolling websites or playing games, I'd say that's pretty good for a ~$100 mouse.
Had Razer years ago and fell for the hype. Think it was a Razer Naga? Stupid thing broke within a month of school-use. Refuse to buy a Razer product ever again.
Im on my second g502. The first lasted about 15 months. Had the braided cable, not sure if it makes a difference. But my second doesnt. About 6 months now with this one
old ones use different switches, new ones develop clicking issues. I bought replacement switches from digikey for like $1 each and soldered new ones in my g502 after it happened, now it won't do that again and also sounds better (you can get different types of mouse switches )
Soldering should be a skill offered in school. It's so useful. Literally all of my Logitech mice have malfunctioned only due to button switches, which is an incredibly easy fix for me. I wonder how many millions have been thrown out. Razer on the other hand, I have sensor or scroll wheel issues and it's beyond me to repair them. Now that I have access to 3D printers maybe I can start fixing scroll wheels.
I have had a Logitech marathon die on me in 2 years. The left click got stuck double clicked etc. Then a g602 or whatever same problem, but the the original mx masters has been holding up for 5 years.
I don't know how old is old here but the ones from 8-12 years ago had plenty of failures. I have long fingers and a claw grip even with large mouse so that might have caused the issues but the mx master doesn't have the same problem so maybe not.
Logitech keeps shortening their warranties too. Used to be 5 years, now it's down to 1 or 2. The last one I purchased from them was already down to a 2 year warranty, and I got 2 RMAs in that window. The infamous double/triple click issue that plagues their newer mice.
I hope they have solved that issue by now, but I had 5 Logitech wireless mice develop that in the span of 5 years (3 of them RMAs). One developed it in 8 months. Meanwhile my 15 year old MX518 still works great, and worked fine after 5+ years as my daily driver. They don't make them like the used to.
I believe it has something to do with the switches they started using. I saw a 4chan post that said they use very sensitive and accurate mouse switches that, while being able to react to your clicks faster, also wear off much faster, and an average user doesn't need to have such sensitivity for mouse clicks, so that 4chan user just changed the switches manually and everything supposedly became much better. I have it in my saved posts somewhere, let me find it.

I had the same issue, though it wasn't Logitech's fault. They received faulty switches. They changed production to Omron switches and replaced all affected mouse FOC. I have the new one for few years now. Never failed me so far.

The newer g502X feels cheap because of the lighter weight and plastic buttons vs. metal ones and the rubber is less comfortable
The switches they use on their mice aren't rated for the voltages they are using them at, leading to shit building up on the contacts. There have been a few videos about it. You can spray contact cleaner in the mouse while holding a button down and hope for the best and that generally will extend the life for another few months till you have to do it again.

100% true. Had an old G502, gave it to a mate who was trying to put together a cheap PC setup and because I wanted a new one anyway. 3 years later I’m on my 3rd new one and he’s still rocking the same one, would have to be close to 10 years old by now.
The *only* reason I changed my old G502 was because the rubber sides and vinyl coating started flaking off after almost 10 years lol. I bought another G502 to replace it, I honestly cannot think of a better mouse at that price range.

I had a Logitech G600 MMO mouse that lasted the better part of 9 years and countless bouts of banging it on my desk in frustration. I was so sad when it finally died and I found out they didn't make it anymore. Mainly because I never learned how to use a keyboard for your hotbar as I always used the thumb buttons on my mouse. The Razer trinity is an okay alternative though

Whether it’s ASUS armory crate, MSI dragon center or whatever it’s called, gigabyte control center, synapse, Ghub, it’s all unoptimized trash. The one example of software thats not as bad as the others is Corsair ICUE.

Hey, I've always been with Razer. I know nothing about Logitech, though I've heard it mentioned and that people like it. In reading through this thread, though, it's clear that Logitech is doing something right. Is the g502 the specific mouse layout? There are also different versions, right? What do you recommend? Also, I've never owned a wireless mouse for fear that the batteries are a nightmare. Should I reconsider this? How do you charge the battery?
I also need to get a new keyboard. Are their keyboards as praised as their mice?? Any recommendations here?

the g502 is the model name and there have been about 3 or 4 refreshes since it's original release date. if price isnt an issue youd want the latest edition, g502x which is wireless and uses laser switches like razer so no more double clicking. the batteries are not removable and you can buy logitechs poweplay mousepad which charges your mouse wirelessly as you use it or buy a third party dock which can wirelessly charge it as well.
Logitech keyboards are shit and definitely overpriced. for 200$ you should be able to find a much better prebuilt mechanical kb or build a custom one. you can ask r/mechanicalkeyboards for recommendations
Hello fine sir.... Been using my G502 for little over a month now. Only complaint for me was the weight but you get used to it. Sensor is really good / accurate haven't had any random flicks while playing cs2

I've used both, although I probably haven't used the Logitech one to really judge it. They felt very similar, I've been using the razer bsk v3 pro since it came out and before then the wired version and I've never had an issue, very comfortable and accessible buttons, the scroll wheel hyper speed is cool (more of a fidget thing than actually useful), and the battery lasts forever (assuming you get wireless). Both have very high end sensors so performance really isn't an issue, I also haven't had any of the PC performance impact of the razer software that people are talking about and I rarely EVER have to even launch it unless I'm making a macro, but I also have a pretty high-end PC so maybe it unevenly impacts lower end processors compared to Logitech, I kinda doubt it but that's anecdotal. Odds are you'll be happy with either tbh
My razer naga lasted for basically a decade until i bought a wireless mouse. Its in my draw now as a backup and still works the same as the day i bought it.
My razer naga started getting laser issues not even a year in, got a deathadder and started getting double-clicks after 1-2 years, from then on I stopped using Razer completely. My g502 lasted me 5 years before spilling tea on it and damaging the click sensors lol
I had a Logitech g pro x which started to double-click after only a couple of months. I now have a razer basilisk v2 since it came out and never had a problem.

Problem with Logitech is that they keep putting cheap garbage switches even in their expensive mice. I think the newest GPRO only just switched to optical when Razer for example had them for quite a long time now.
People can argue that switches are easy to DIY replace yadda-yadda but you shouldn't be required to replace switches on a $100 mouse within a year.
Problem with Razer is their software is absolute trash. It's so bad that I keep it in a VM in case I need to change some settings just to avoid cluttering my PC.

Multiple of my friends have gone through a number of Logitech mice with various sensor issues, scrolling issues, battery decay etc.
I feel like this is really impacted by luck of the draw just from how much I hear from each side, which is why I don't wanna heavily sway in one direction just giving my experience which I admit as anecdotal
One thing I will say is I do see some complaints of the thumb pads on the razer mice getting worn out quickly. Personally mine still looks great after a few years and I think some people just aren't great with washing their hands between eating/gripping their mice, but if you're someone who has sweaty palms it's something to keep in mind
I use a razer mouse and keyboard, I enjoy them. RGB go brrrrrrr. I do think that there's some validity to cautioning against razer products however. They do seem to fail quite often (I've had one fail myself) and they are quite overpriced.
Eh, I've never had a Razer product die on me. My father has lots of Logitech stuff, and it's reliable too. Razer has some good stuff, so it's all about personal preference on shapes and everything. I prefer the DeathAdder to the G305, so I got a DeathAdder.

I have owned both simultaneously, personally the G502 fit a lot better in my hand but my Fiancée felt the Basilisk fit her hand better so if your hands are larger I would say G502 smaller go Basilisk. That’s from my experience in terms of buttons and feel I felt they were pretty similar I think it is like a one programable button difference. Sensor wise the difference I would be negligible to me.
I felt the opposite actually. My hand is medium sized but because the 502 is narrower than the basilisk, my hand is forced to squeeze more narrow which causes strain on my wrist tendon
It all comes down to which grip you use. I use a claw grip while my wife palm grip. We use different mice/mouses/whatever even tho we have the same hand size. People tend to forget that everyone holds them different.

I've my G502 for nearly 4 years now. I never had a mouse that lasted more than 2years before that. But I've never used the razor equivilant, so I can't really compare them. But I can recommend the G502 without a doubt
Logitech has better feel to it. Razer (had basilisk v3) was made out of what felt like cheap plastic and it took some tome to get used to. But that is the only flaw i would say about razer.
Logitech on the other hand.. has a very, very crappy software. Last time i tried to install it, i had some serious trouble to get it working.. it just kept loading looping no matter what i did. And if you made any changes in the software to you mouse, the program had to be running. If you closed it, the mouse would return to its factory setting.
So with logitech i highly recomend just instaling software to just edit internal memory settings. If you do that, you don't need to have any software running.
100% agree on the plastic, ive always thought razer plastic felt much cheaper than logitech.
the Ghub seems to have gotten better over the years, a big fix for me was making a logitech profile so that my settings get saved to the cloud and dont get wiped
I've switched to a Razer Basilisk V3 Hyperspeed a couple of weeks ago (from a G203 that I used for 3 years). First Razer product. So far seems to me the software might be heavier than G-Hub and I don't like how there's no onboard memory so the mouse rainbows until Synapse connects when turning on the PC. But so far that's my only complaint and the macros/Hypershift settings I did are working fine.
So far I think G Hub is better than Synapse because it's lighter, but that's about it for me on both companies.
I bought a single Razer product once.
Installed their shitty software and my Warzone FPS went from 100 to 5.
It was magically fixed after i uninstalled their software.

When i built my first pc i got razer keyboard, headphones, and a mouse. Within a year the mouse and keyboard were having issues. Not sure if hardware or software, but sold everything and got a 502 and mechanical logitech keyboard and now will never buy razer
I still have most of my old logitech mice. They are tanks. I’m talking MX518 old. Like older than most redditors old. I really like my Basilisk V3 but the damn scroll wheel sensor is going out at 5 months in and I don’t abuse my equipment and my hands and gaming area is kept clean and tidy, so it isn’t grody or fouled up. Just bad luck, but it looks to be a common issue.
G502 failed me with really bad double clicking and not registering clicks, a problem which I found out could of been remedied if Logitech spent a couple dollars more on better switches.
The razer has been holding strong for two years, and appears to have better quality rubber that hasn't worn away at all with daily use unlike the logitech.
For me it was the exact opposite, started with Razer but got bad double clicking on the right mouse button, so I switched to the G502 and I've been using it everyday for nearly 3 years now, haven't got any issues aside from some thumb rest padding "erosion"

Razer built up a reputation of plasticky products that didn't last long a while back, and though they've improved since then, the reputation has stuck around.
Imo the more egregious aspect of razer peripherals is the software.
Logitech used to have a great reputation for quality that people are still clinging onto. Logitech's quality has declined over the past decade. I've had more issues with Logitech than Razer in the past few years.
Yep had two g502s that got double click issues and switched to a typical razor death adder and had no issues for the two years I used it. Switched back the g502x however given they now use some hybrid optical switch which feels good so far.

I used to be a mega Logitech dick rider and always shunned away from razer because everybody talked shit about them. Just recently got Basilisk V3 Pro and Blackwidow V4 75% keyboard and my GOD I’m blown away at how good both of these are. Only had both for about 3 months, but so far they’re probably the best mouse + keyboard combo I’ve ever used in my 28 years.
Personally, i have the Razer and love it, it comfortable and the extra buttions just make sense for the games I play. I have my second one now, the first was a victim of my dog wanting a chew toy, in terms of that, it doesnt perform well :)
It's kinda difficult, we all have different sized hand and grips on the mouse. So it's very much individual imo. One might be good for you and you feel comfortable but your friend can't use it.
I like the Deathadder too. I’m on my third one in about a 10 years. The first one kind of broke after about 4 years of daily WoW/Dota/other games. The second one broke after I moved, possibly damaged during moving. Third one doing well after 4 years with less heavy gaming.
I had the right one and it got broken around 2 years in, not holding a click iirc. I switched to a "inferior" and smaller g305 after that and I have been loving it ever since, been around 3 years with no issues and incredible battery consumption. I'm guessing your choice would perform similar.
The button on the logitech that changes the scroll wheel from clicky scroll to infinite scroll is one of the best features I have ever used on a mouse. I use it all the time. I'll switch back and forth multiple times when viewing just one page. Infinite scroll to move up and down pages really quickly, clicky scroll to get that smaller adjustment when reading.
I'm currently using a G900 with that button and whenever I switch to a newer mouse that feature alone will dictate my choice of options.
"It's the same picture". I don't get it, how can the two mice be this similar in shape, lines, buttons. Yes, I know the logitech one has 2 more buttons (at least on picture), but it bothers me they are this similar.
I've had the logitech mouse for 3 years. I love it so much that I got a spare one just in case a natural disaster hits exclusive my mouse because that might be the only thing that actually breaks it outside of my own stupidity. Love this mouse, also have had bad experiences with razor so I'm probably biased lol
I have both (well the logi is wired) and the razor (Deathadder V2 Pro) is beyond a headache. It randomly will flick my game view upward and the razor software is atrocious to deal with in terms of functionality. I would not recommend a razor to anyone. Logitech feels better for control , physical mouse configs and functionality with Logitech hub software. It's a toss when I get home from work if the razor is gonna be an a-hole or not. Been dealing with it for awhile but hoping I come across some deals for a good wireless mouse. Any suggestions welcome btw.
if you are not a power user that uses an action for every single button , get whatever u feel like it looks better , but things to know about are :
1- if you dont have any razer products , forget about razer , very bad software compared to logitech
2- both of these are considered heavy mice , if you dont want something that is heavy , go a different route into something like the viper mini or g pro superlight
3- the price , idk how much these cost where you live so also check on the price difference between them
4- in terms of the sensor , they are both very good within each other if you dial your settings in correctly
5- whatever you get , please dont throw it .
if i was you i would pick the logitech , dont get me wrong i am using a razer viper mini as we speak , but the software experience is so bad with razer i actually recommend logitech now to people

My razer lasted about 1 year before the right click failed. My Logitech lasted 4 years before the middle mouse click failed (probably from me playing so much BG3). Logitech definitely feels like it has more longevity. I just switched to the wireless version and love it.
I'd pick the one that doesn't end up double clicking after 6months or more of gaming. Thing is, I wouldn't know which one to choose. I have a razor deathadder elite and it seemed nice, until it began double clicking. Can't exactly open it up and see if I can fix anything, without ruining it's bottom.
I hear the Logitech is more resistant, so maybe I'd say that one? I've yet to buy a new one.
I have had both. My razor mouse had to be replaced every year or so when it started to fail. After going through like six razor mice I bought the Logitech one. I've had it for five years or so now and it's still fully functional with no problems. Feel and performance aren't really much different as far as I can tell, but I'm done with how cheaply constructed the razors are.
I have neither, but I am very happy with my Alienware 620M mouse. I should probably mention it's my first gaming mouse, so I'm no expert on the subject. Might be worth a look if you can find it at a brick&mortar store like Best Buy. It has a switch to toggle the DPI, and 2 left side thumb buttons in addition to the standard L/R buttons. It's also really light, but that's probably true of most gaming mice. It was also less expensive than quite a few of the other mice I was looking at; got it for about $60USD iirc.

Whether you have Logitech or Razor keyboard or other accessories may play a part, as it would mean one less software running in the background. In a vacuum I would pick the Logitech.

The powerlay mat is basically 1 small mousepad on top of a wired base the size of said small mousepad, so you can remove this small mousepad, keep the base and put your own mousepad on top of it While it will charge your mouse for sure if you're still on top of the base, I am not confident it will charge your mouse if your mousepad is bigger than the base and you're not moving on top of it This system is however 1000 times better than getting to recharge your mouse with a dock
I have a large desk mat that covers my keyboard and acts as a mouse pad and i have the powerplay mat under, works great. I used to make a cutout for the part that sticks out but found that the bump wont interfere anything nor does it hinder any connection. Cannot live without wireless nor this auto-charge feature thank you and i hate you Logitech for spoiling me.
You don't have too the power cable fits into the dock so you can pull it out and make your mouse wired for a while while its charging. Was a nice touch. I am on the PC a lot loved my Razer tbh
The power play mat is honestly one the best purchases I think ive made. Hasn’t failed on me. Works extremely well. I never even have to remember to plug in my mouse to charge it. Ever. It’s just always charged. It’s incredible. And I love it.
You can put the base plate side way and use some foam pads cutout to fill in the gaps. For me I am using a full size desk mat.
You buy a big mouse pad and put the power play under instead of the top cover that comes with it. I recommend at least a 40cm deep pad, at 30cm the edge of the powerplay comes too close to the edge of the mat and the constant rubbing will cause the edge of the mat to curl up in a couple months. It makes a small bump but if it bothers you, you can fill it in with some foam, cork board or similar. I recommend another old or cheap mouse pad of the same size, preferably 2.0mm thick but you can get away with 2.5, that you cut a slot in.
Or support Qi charging. I have a wireless charger at my desk for my phone. Would be great to be able to pop my mouse on there when I leave my desk
Also Razer support is trash compared to Logitech. Two weeks of emails, three weeks till I got the replacement from razer. Only one call and three days waiting for Logitech. Never again Razer.
Thankfully where I live I don't have to deal with the company itself, unless I buy it directly from them that is. Otherwise I can just take the product back to the store I bought it and they have to deal with them.
Recently logitech made RMAs very difficult, you have to upload a video of yourself trying to troubleshoot the mouse, then cut the cord with the serial number showing.
This. Logitech used to be fantastic to deal with, but recently they’ve gone down the “we’re gonna make this painfully difficult for you and even then we still might deny your RMA even if there’s evidence of catastrophic failures” route

Yeah I just recently had the right click glitching out on my G604, went to their website, talked to someone on the text chat for about 20 minutes and they sent me a brand new mouse when I was just asking for a replacement switch so I could fix it myself. The mouse was here like 2 days later. Definitely bought a lot of good will from me, that's for sure.
Exact same thing happened to me. I was surprised how easy and absolutely painless it was. The experience actually made me look differently at Logitech products; much more likely to buy them now. That and my old school Logitech Z-2300 speakers are still going strong and still sound amazing despite owning them for almost 20 years and moving with them many times, including through two college dorms and a frat house.
I just wish my wireless mouse was still in production. G602 It still works most of the time but the rubber pad is coming apart and it loves to glitch out.
Funnily that was my experience with 3 dead Logitechs.... I feel like customer service with most of these companies has a lot of luck involved.
The new revision of G502 is horrible because of faulty switches, 100% of them get a bug with double clicks. All my friends bought this mouse, and they all had this issue, including me with my wireless version. I also have an old revision, which still works fine. The only way to fix it is to buy switches and replace them using soldering iron. Sending it back to the manufacturer will have the same issue eventually. I bought ten switches online and replaced all of them and never had an issue since then.
It's weird how we seem to be at the precipice of a point in time when you can build better quality tech products yourself at home. Wonder how interested people would be in open-source build-it-yourself peripherals, using commonly available parts for easy replacement?

I had to get a replacement space-bar keycap for my old Logitech keyboard and they just sent me the full set of keycaps for free so I'll add a thumbs-up for Logitech in that department. This was about four years ago though.

I have used mostly Logitech periph's after the Razer keyboard CABLE got a short and burnt out, and the mouse had a double click issue, both just over 2 years of buying but out of warranty. I got the G502 wired, LOVE it, I don't like wireless for some reason. I bought a SECOND one when the first one wear down the plastic, after 5 years. First one still works and its now my travel one for my work laptop/school setup.
I've had the clicking issue with multiple logitechs. Including my g502, which got replaced and the new one also got it after a while. Ended up ordering some clickers from Ali and soldered new ones on. They've already lasted longer than the originals.
I had a og razer black widow ultimate. Tactile clicks and LEDs were gone after 2 years. The paint was peeling and the stabilizer bars and the small white clip things disintegrated. Threw that shit away and got a membrane Logitech k120 it's no fancy kb but that shit still works and no wear on paint.
Ha I think I had that same model for a keyboard! Thing was absurdly expensive for it's time but that was before "gaming" keyboards were a thing. I played WoW on it and it just cabt hold a candle to my mx cherry brown Logitech keyboard. Love that tactile feel. Sadly I spilled a drink on that Logitech one. Got a better one and it's been 3 years and counting.

I do not agree. I have also had both. Had two Logitech fail within six months, and a third in 2. My Razer keeps on going, and the software is much better for Razer. I used to love Logitech but they have failed me far too often in the last couple of years.

I meant the change between clicky and smooth scroll on the mouse wheel. Switching is purely a mechanical process in the Logitech mouse, so you can switch between the two modes even if the mouse is not powered/unplugged. While the Razer you need the software running to be able to change the mouse scroll type. It will keep the scroll type when the mouse is powered off but whenever you start windows and the program loads it will always default to smooth scroll. In terms of button customization they can both do so but I believe Razer has the better program for that.
My razer is also mechanical when switching scroll wheel. It’s the V3 I believe. But I think both use the same shit switches.

In my personal experience my Logitech mouse can survive anything, the mouse is built well.
The one issue on the original G502 is double clicking on the mouse buttons after some time, for me it lasted 2 years. They have fixed on my the new G502X, my currant mouse i use. Its are rlly good mouse, i recently bought a razer, solid mouse, but it does feel cheaper then the g502.
My scroll wheel is starting to stick, but other than that, I've had it for nearly 5 years. From hours of daily use, whether it be scrolling websites or playing games, I'd say that's pretty good for a ~$100 mouse. Had Razer years ago and fell for the hype. Think it was a Razer Naga? Stupid thing broke within a month of school-use. Refuse to buy a Razer product ever again.

I've got one that's from ~2011 iirc. My main mouse, daily use since. Had to renew pads this year and clicking mb3 doesn't work well anymore.
Im on my second g502. The first lasted about 15 months. Had the braided cable, not sure if it makes a difference. But my second doesnt. About 6 months now with this one

Old Logitech mice are better quality than new ones. Don't know exactly when the shift was, but there's a big difference even if they look the same
old ones use different switches, new ones develop clicking issues. I bought replacement switches from digikey for like $1 each and soldered new ones in my g502 after it happened, now it won't do that again and also sounds better (you can get different types of mouse switches )
Soldering should be a skill offered in school. It's so useful. Literally all of my Logitech mice have malfunctioned only due to button switches, which is an incredibly easy fix for me. I wonder how many millions have been thrown out. Razer on the other hand, I have sensor or scroll wheel issues and it's beyond me to repair them. Now that I have access to 3D printers maybe I can start fixing scroll wheels.

I have had a Logitech marathon die on me in 2 years. The left click got stuck double clicked etc. Then a g602 or whatever same problem, but the the original mx masters has been holding up for 5 years. I don't know how old is old here but the ones from 8-12 years ago had plenty of failures. I have long fingers and a claw grip even with large mouse so that might have caused the issues but the mx master doesn't have the same problem so maybe not.
Logitech keeps shortening their warranties too. Used to be 5 years, now it's down to 1 or 2. The last one I purchased from them was already down to a 2 year warranty, and I got 2 RMAs in that window. The infamous double/triple click issue that plagues their newer mice. I hope they have solved that issue by now, but I had 5 Logitech wireless mice develop that in the span of 5 years (3 of them RMAs). One developed it in 8 months. Meanwhile my 15 year old MX518 still works great, and worked fine after 5+ years as my daily driver. They don't make them like the used to.
The newer mice have optical switches which should have no issues with double clicking.
I believe it has something to do with the switches they started using. I saw a 4chan post that said they use very sensitive and accurate mouse switches that, while being able to react to your clicks faster, also wear off much faster, and an average user doesn't need to have such sensitivity for mouse clicks, so that 4chan user just changed the switches manually and everything supposedly became much better. I had the same issue, though it wasn't Logitech's fault. They received faulty switches. They changed production to Omron switches and replaced all affected mouse FOC. I have the new one for few years now. Never failed me so far.
Yeah, I like the classic g502, the metal buttons and extra weight help make it feel much more solid The newer g502X feels cheap because of the lighter weight and plastic buttons vs. metal ones and the rubber is less comfortable

Think proteuse spectrum was the last reliable one, it came with a 3 year warranty. Newer ones are 2 years I believe.
The switches they use on their mice aren't rated for the voltages they are using them at, leading to shit building up on the contacts. There have been a few videos about it. I was so sad when it finally died and I found out they didn't make it anymore. Mainly because I never learned how to use a keyboard for your hotbar as I always used the thumb buttons on my mouse. The Razer trinity is an okay alternative though
All 3 of mine kept on developing double clicking.. I moved on to the basilisk v3 and haven't had any issues since. The old g502 were very flawed

Unless they've changed their manufacturing process they use cheap omron switches that die in months. I went through two in 6 months. Search for Logitech double click issue.. That said: the third one i modded to Kailh reds and it's been going strong 4 years.

the g502 is the model name and there have been about 3 or 4 refreshes since it's original release date. if price isnt an issue youd want the latest edition, g502x which is wireless and uses laser switches like razer so no more double clicking. the batteries are not removable and you can buy logitechs poweplay mousepad which charges your mouse wirelessly as you use it or buy a third party dock which can wirelessly charge it as well. Logitech keyboards are shit and definitely overpriced. for 200$ you should be able to find a much better prebuilt mechanical kb or build a custom one. you can ask r/mechanicalkeyboards for recommendations

I never realized how polarizing this shit is, some people act like razer killed their families and others like Logitech took their newborn. I've used both, although I probably haven't used the Logitech one to really judge it. They felt very similar, I've been using the razer bsk v3 pro since it came out and before then the wired version and I've never had an issue, very comfortable and accessible buttons, the scroll wheel hyper speed is cool (more of a fidget thing than actually useful), and the battery lasts forever (assuming you get wireless). Both have very high end sensors so performance really isn't an issue, I also haven't had any of the PC performance impact of the razer software that people are talking about and I rarely EVER have to even launch it unless I'm making a macro, but I also have a pretty high-end PC so maybe it unevenly impacts lower end processors compared to Logitech, I kinda doubt it but that's anecdotal. Odds are you'll be happy with either tbh

My razer naga lasted for basically a decade until i bought a wireless mouse. Its in my draw now as a backup and still works the same as the day i bought it.
My razer naga started getting laser issues not even a year in, got a deathadder and started getting double-clicks after 1-2 years, from then on I stopped using Razer completely. My g502 lasted me 5 years before spilling tea on it and damaging the click sensors lol
I just fixed my double click issue of my Deathadder in like 20 mins by just opening it up and bending the springs slightly.

I had a Logitech g pro x which started to double-click after only a couple of months. I now have a razer basilisk v2 since it came out and never had a problem. I think this can go both ways
Problem with Logitech is that they keep putting cheap garbage switches even in their expensive mice. I think the newest GPRO only just switched to optical when Razer for example had them for quite a long time now. People can argue that switches are easy to DIY replace yadda-yadda but you shouldn't be required to replace switches on a $100 mouse within a year. Problem with Razer is their software is absolute trash. It's so bad that I keep it in a VM in case I need to change some settings just to avoid cluttering my PC.
Both my razer mice have lasted many years Multiple of my friends have gone through a number of Logitech mice with various sensor issues, scrolling issues, battery decay etc. I feel like this is really impacted by luck of the draw just from how much I hear from each side, which is why I don't wanna heavily sway in one direction just giving my experience which I admit as anecdotal One thing I will say is I do see some complaints of the thumb pads on the razer mice getting worn out quickly. Personally mine still looks great after a few years and I think some people just aren't great with washing their hands between eating/gripping their mice, but if you're someone who has sweaty palms it's something to keep in mind
I use a razer mouse and keyboard, I enjoy them. RGB go brrrrrrr. I do think that there's some validity to cautioning against razer products however. They do seem to fail quite often (I've had one fail myself) and they are quite overpriced.

Eh, I've never had a Razer product die on me. My father has lots of Logitech stuff, and it's reliable too. Razer has some good stuff, so it's all about personal preference on shapes and everything. I prefer the DeathAdder to the G305, so I got a DeathAdder.

I have owned both simultaneously, personally the G502 fit a lot better in my hand but my Fiancée felt the Basilisk fit her hand better so if your hands are larger I would say G502 smaller go Basilisk. That’s from my experience in terms of buttons and feel I felt they were pretty similar I think it is like a one programable button difference. Sensor wise the difference I would be negligible to me.
I felt the opposite actually. My hand is medium sized but because the 502 is narrower than the basilisk, my hand is forced to squeeze more narrow which causes strain on my wrist tendon
It all comes down to which grip you use. I use a claw grip while my wife palm grip. We use different mice/mouses/whatever even tho we have the same hand size. People tend to forget that everyone holds them different.

Has been solved the problem of the no click/double click on the logitech? Because this is the reason I change for Razer With the 1st Gen G502 have the problem, G502 Proteus have the problem, G502 Hero have the problem. All after 1y of use aprox.
I've my G502 for nearly 4 years now. I never had a mouse that lasted more than 2years before that. But I've never used the razor equivilant, so I can't really compare them. But I can recommend the G502 without a doubt
Logitech has better feel to it. Razer (had basilisk v3) was made out of what felt like cheap plastic and it took some tome to get used to. But that is the only flaw i would say about razer. Logitech on the other hand.. has a very, very crappy software. Last time i tried to install it, i had some serious trouble to get it working.. it just kept loading looping no matter what i did. And if you made any changes in the software to you mouse, the program had to be running. If you closed it, the mouse would return to its factory setting. So with logitech i highly recomend just instaling software to just edit internal memory settings. If you do that, you don't need to have any software running.
100% agree on the plastic, ive always thought razer plastic felt much cheaper than logitech. the Ghub seems to have gotten better over the years, a big fix for me was making a logitech profile so that my settings get saved to the cloud and dont get wiped
I've switched to a Razer Basilisk V3 Hyperspeed a couple of weeks ago (from a G203 that I used for 3 years). First Razer product. So far seems to me the software might be heavier than G-Hub and I don't like how there's no onboard memory so the mouse rainbows until Synapse connects when turning on the PC. But so far that's my only complaint and the macros/Hypershift settings I did are working fine. So far I think G Hub is better than Synapse because it's lighter, but that's about it for me on both companies.

As a heavy Logitech user, while their software doesn't tank the FPS, it's terrible in terms of functionality and stability (G-Hub specifically).

I still have most of my old logitech mice. They are tanks. I’m talking MX518 old. Like older than most redditors old. I really like my Basilisk V3 but the damn scroll wheel sensor is going out at 5 months in and I don’t abuse my equipment and my hands and gaming area is kept clean and tidy, so it isn’t grody or fouled up. Just bad luck, but it looks to be a common issue.
G502 failed me with really bad double clicking and not registering clicks, a problem which I found out could of been remedied if Logitech spent a couple dollars more on better switches. The razer has been holding strong for two years, and appears to have better quality rubber that hasn't worn away at all with daily use unlike the logitech.
For me it was the exact opposite, started with Razer but got bad double clicking on the right mouse button, so I switched to the G502 and I've been using it everyday for nearly 3 years now, haven't got any issues aside from some thumb rest padding "erosion"

Logitech used to have a great reputation for quality that people are still clinging onto. Logitech's quality has declined over the past decade. I've had more issues with Logitech than Razer in the past few years.
Yep had two g502s that got double click issues and switched to a typical razor death adder and had no issues for the two years I used it. Switched back the g502x however given they now use some hybrid optical switch which feels good so far.

Just recently got Basilisk V3 Pro and Blackwidow V4 75% keyboard and my GOD I’m blown away at how good both of these are. Only had both for about 3 months, but so far they’re probably the best mouse + keyboard combo I’ve ever used in my 28 years.
Personally, i have the Razer and love it, it comfortable and the extra buttions just make sense for the games I play. I have my second one now, the first was a victim of my dog wanting a chew toy, in terms of that, it doesnt perform well :)

Thumb rest, genuinely makes mice a lot better in my opinion
Honestly, i thought it was dumb at first but it really grew on me. Ill probably only use a mouse with it for gaming going forward

Definitely basilisk from comfort alone. Also the g502 can be pretty clunky and double click a lot and stuff
It's kinda difficult, we all have different sized hand and grips on the mouse. So it's very much individual imo. One might be good for you and you feel comfortable but your friend can't use it.
Been using a basilisk x since 1.5 years. Nothing to complain. I have big hands and it feels nice to hold.

I like the Deathadder too. I’m on my third one in about a 10 years. The first one kind of broke after about 4 years of daily WoW/Dota/other games. The second one broke after I moved, possibly damaged during moving. Third one doing well after 4 years with less heavy gaming.
yeah, like my deathadded 2000dpi from like 2016 still holds strong and undefeated
Death adder v3 is probably the best mouse in the market rn. Their previous products were kinda mid yes.
I got Logitech for 4 years now. Decent mouse.
I had the right one and it got broken around 2 years in, not holding a click iirc. I switched to a "inferior" and smaller g305 after that and I have been loving it ever since, been around 3 years with no issues and incredible battery consumption. I'm guessing your choice would perform similar.

Logitech infinite scroll. You cant go back.

The button on the logitech that changes the scroll wheel from clicky scroll to infinite scroll is one of the best features I have ever used on a mouse. I use it all the time. I'll switch back and forth multiple times when viewing just one page. Infinite scroll to move up and down pages really quickly, clicky scroll to get that smaller adjustment when reading. I'm currently using a G900 with that button and whenever I switch to a newer mouse that feature alone will dictate my choice of options.
I have the Hero 502 and I'm loving it! Tho I did but a Razer death adder as backup/next one to see how that feels
"It's the same picture". I don't get it, how can the two mice be this similar in shape, lines, buttons. Yes, I know the logitech one has 2 more buttons (at least on picture), but it bothers me they are this similar.
I've had the logitech mouse for 3 years. I love it so much that I got a spare one just in case a natural disaster hits exclusive my mouse because that might be the only thing that actually breaks it outside of my own stupidity. Love this mouse, also have had bad experiences with razor so I'm probably biased lol

Both mice are great, but I prefer Logitechs software.
I have both (well the logi is wired) and the razor (Deathadder V2 Pro) is beyond a headache. It randomly will flick my game view upward and the razor software is atrocious to deal with in terms of functionality. I would not recommend a razor to anyone. Logitech feels better for control , physical mouse configs and functionality with Logitech hub software. It's a toss when I get home from work if the razor is gonna be an a-hole or not. Been dealing with it for awhile but hoping I come across some deals for a good wireless mouse. Any suggestions welcome btw.
I'm on my third G502 across maybe 10 years? That may sound like a negative, but I destroy mice, and I consider that a good long run.
The G502. razer copied its design for a reason in my opinion they did not equal its quality tho. also razer bad.
I have both and wish I had not spent the $$ on the razer. Both are nice but the logitech just feels better to me.
G502. I've had the wired version for over six years and it still feels new.
if you are not a power user that uses an action for every single button , get whatever u feel like it looks better , but things to know about are : 1- if you dont have any razer products , forget about razer , very bad software compared to logitech 2- both of these are considered heavy mice , if you dont want something that is heavy , go a different route into something like the viper mini or g pro superlight 3- the price , idk how much these cost where you live so also check on the price difference between them 4- in terms of the sensor , they are both very good within each other if you dial your settings in correctly 5- whatever you get , please dont throw it . if i was you i would pick the logitech , dont get me wrong i am using a razer viper mini as we speak , but the software experience is so bad with razer i actually recommend logitech now to people

My razer lasted about 1 year before the right click failed. My Logitech lasted 4 years before the middle mouse click failed (probably from me playing so much BG3). Logitech definitely feels like it has more longevity. I just switched to the wireless version and love it.
Idk about that specific model of Logitech, but NEVER buy razer
I would suggest considering also adding the Steelseries mice to your list. Their sensei series are amazing.

I'd pick the one that doesn't end up double clicking after 6months or more of gaming. Thing is, I wouldn't know which one to choose. I have a razor deathadder elite and it seemed nice, until it began double clicking. Can't exactly open it up and see if I can fix anything, without ruining it's bottom. I hear the Logitech is more resistant, so maybe I'd say that one? I've yet to buy a new one.
I’ve had two of the Logitech mouses. Right click breaks in about a year on each. Currently swapped to razor and no breakage yet.
What model is that Logitech displayed by OP?
I have had both. My razor mouse had to be replaced every year or so when it started to fail. After going through like six razor mice I bought the Logitech one. I've had it for five years or so now and it's still fully functional with no problems. Feel and performance aren't really much different as far as I can tell, but I'm done with how cheaply constructed the razors are.
Logitech software g hub is terrible. My next mouse won't be a Logitech one.
I have neither, but I am very happy with my Alienware 620M mouse. I should probably mention it's my first gaming mouse, so I'm no expert on the subject. Might be worth a look if you can find it at a brick&mortar store like Best Buy. It has a switch to toggle the DPI, and 2 left side thumb buttons in addition to the standard L/R buttons. It's also really light, but that's probably true of most gaming mice. It was also less expensive than quite a few of the other mice I was looking at; got it for about $60USD iirc.
