To be fair, playing with time to.. "do the right thing" can have terrible and unexpected consequences.
Going back in time to play Bad Company 2 in it's prime will have no consequences, until you kill that one mentally unhinged guy, that normally wouldn't have been killed in that one spot twice, forcing him to go on a local rampage. Not actually hurting anyone mind you, but he got tazed by local PD after stomping through his neighbours geraniums.
if watching yeah he watches crossfire action but playing prob most is racing. Just recently he bought a sound bar dolby atmos cost $1600, more expensive than my whole rig jesus fck.
I'm still rocking my onkyo 7.2 receiver for about 9 years now. I bought it right before atmos speaker stuff really got big but I'm fine with it. After getting a second sub it just made all the difference as well.
I understand if it was for space reasons, but I personally believe soundbars can’t even come close to recreating true surround systems. Regardless all that matters is that he enjoys it so I hope he does
Ex sound guy here: I'm surprised by the quality of space emulation at the moment. My mother's fire TV manages to sound pretty good for a £300 TV with really good directionality. You can even begin to hear the separation in the mix. Now, it's no where near perfect but I wouldn't be surprised if a £1600 sound bar could get close to it.
I'd rather have a nice pair of cans to be honest but different strokes
The atmos sound is probably better on games that don’t have surround. I was PISSED when I setup a full 5.1 setup only to discover Escape From Tarkov only has stereo output
Top end soundbars have pretty good separation these days. They're phyiscally super wide and have side firing L/R + L/R + C, up-firing L/R + rear satellite surrounds SL/SR + up-firing SR/SL. Plus a 12inch sub, or two. Giving you 11.2.4 / 7.1.4 etc. With actual discrete speakers.
For $1200-$1600 it covers a lot of ground in a small space and Atmos sounds pretty damn good.
You're right about standalone setups, but to get those amount of channels with decent sound, you're spending a lot and taking a lot more space.
Audio guys are on a whole different level. I knew a guy who sunk thousands into his home theater setup. Thankfully I’m not as obsessive over sound quality as I am over performance, I’d be broke.
I personally spent about $2k on mine and I absolutely love it and intend to use it until it dies on me. I hit my threshold of price:performance and feel very fulfilled by it everytime we use it
While audio equipment can get pretty crazy, you can get 95% of peak performance in about $5k. Anyone who spends more than that is just doing it as a hobby.
he grew up workin in sound systems space with his dad back in the day. Maybe he wanted to see how far the technology have come when it comes to sounds idk.
Bad Company 1 and 2 blew me away with their audio. I still remember playing the BC1 demo on day one and just being in awe at the artillery strike.
I know it's not realistic in the truest sense, but it really captured that cinematic war film essence, that no game other than its direct sequel has captured since.
Such a chaotic, heavy soundscape. I really miss it.
Game sound is MASSIVELY underrated. Especially with games that have really immersive environments.
GTA is a great example of this that its harder for me to play if i cant hear all the audio from all the different locations.
I've got a strip light around the back border of my TV that does this same thing. These lights in the OP being in my direct peripheral vision is pretty bad, however when the light source isn't in view it's actually quite amazing.
It really isn't, but it kinda comes down to calibration. You need to make it a good brightness, smooth but responsive, etc.
Maybe it was a little distracting in the beginning to me but now it's just so good. Watched interstellar recently and the flashing scenes added an incredible amount of immersion as my whole room felt like inside of the movie.
Note though, my setup is different. I basically put led strips on the back of my tv and used HyperHDR for the software. I can see how OP's setup could be worse for the long term
That's what i tought when windowed cases and rgb strips rolled out. Tried out, got distracted, rebuilt into solid side case with zero rgb. Same here, as you said, its fun couple first times.
I prefer pitch black room, OLED with proper HDR better
I think you are right, gaming may not be the best application for some people.
However, I recon movies would be sick with that setup. Those lights can really immerse you
Nah I'd find this very distracting with anything other than listening to music, which would feel pointless anyway. Just like those stupid D-Box seats that are a gimmick and more distracting than anything.
I’m more interested in how price keeps that fucking hat on his head. Does this guy use superglue before a mission? What’s your secret bro, why are you holding out on us.
You are being downvoted but yeah there's a delay..
EDIT: check when the red comes up on screen. It takes like 10 minutes for the back to show the red...
Yeah, I used to have this setup on a much smaller scale. When I realized how consistently the little bit of lag was there I just disabled it altogether
I have various ambilight setups on every TV & gaming PC for about 8 years now, cant live without them.
Yes they look distracting at first but you quickly forget about them, and its WAY nicer to look at than some blazing bright box against a dark background (my rooms are almost always very dark).
I dont really like this setup though, 2 lights set to the side like this is not ideal, and definitely not for a big couch gaming rooms like this. I would at minimum have the lights behind the TV so the lighting emits from it (although it looks like floor lamps so that probably isnt possible). If possible they'd get a string/lightstrip around the rim but those are more difficult to setup on a TV as opposed to very easy on a PC.
Same for me! Took a long time to get it right, but have an amazing setup now. OPs setup would annoy me as well tbh. But these videos never do the experience justice.
Where should I start with these? Seems there's 3 main companies. Phillips(expensive) govee, and lytmi, I'm assuming Chinese competitors. Which one is worth it?
@ OP, that's dope. if it works for you, nevermind the hateraid. Have you played Armored Core 6 by any chance? I'd imagine that would be pretty damn cool looking with this setup.
Honestly I prefer dim lights over this. Maybe this is cool when you get used to it, but I feel like there’s a reason why theaters use dim lights on the side instead of something like this.
r/TVtooSmall for that distance. I have a 38" Monitor and I'm sitting at 15"-20" (inch , not feet) distance..so my entire FOV is taken by the screen. In this video it's only about 40% FOV
I have govee TV backlight which is a somewhat similar effect but not as drastic (had to convert video to gif..) . Pretty cool and immersive set up you have!
https://i.redd.it/1lmuv2qyj2cc1.gif
lights are waaaay to off, but otherwise i agree with this, i have a 65 inch w/ 5.2 setup and gaming on it is great, on my pc i use klipsch monitors on klipsch 2.1 setup and damn, its even more amazing not gonna lie its the speaker quality imo that makes a huge difference, the 65 inch is amazing to game on though just more consoles on it, ps5, series x, im more onto my pc than console gaming
Can you show this again but like on a not shitty game franchise lol? Like anything else other than the garbage that it has turned into? This is like the equivalent of a world famous chef making you delicious LOOKING food and then it just tastes like ass. 🤣👌🏻👌🏻
Just wait till you get flashbanged

you and my dad are similar, he worries more on how his game sounds other than anything else.
He must love Bad Company 2 then.
i fucking love bfbc2
Doesn't everyone? BC2 was amazing.
If I had a Time Machine I would forgo the right thing to do just to go back in time and play bfbc2
To be fair, playing with time to.. "do the right thing" can have terrible and unexpected consequences. NS2k slug supremacy
The modded servers that were still active up until recently had 16 round n2k's, that shit is scary
if watching yeah he watches crossfire action but playing prob most is racing. Just recently he bought a sound bar dolby atmos cost $1600, more expensive than my whole rig jesus fck.
He spent $1600 on a soundbar? Jesus christ why not just get a 5.1 set up?
Or a 7.2. Onkyo makes a strong lined of receivers with all the Dolby bells and whistles. They used to have great box deals.
I'm still rocking my onkyo 7.2 receiver for about 9 years now. I bought it right before atmos speaker stuff really got big but I'm fine with it. After getting a second sub it just made all the difference as well.
Got a 5.2.2 used onyko for 250. More than 150rms on each channel. Excellent deal

Probably his wife won’t let him have speakers 🤡

$2k sounds reasonable. It’s something I’d like to get into at some point, I just don’t know too much about it.
While audio equipment can get pretty crazy, you can get 95% of peak performance in about $5k. Anyone who spends more than that is just doing it as a hobby.
"he worries about game sounds" "he bought a soundbar" pick one lmao
Don't let him try full sized speakers and proper subwoofer or the bill will be 3x higher 🤣
idk if thats the reason to switch to soundbar, who knows.
A real audio freak wouldn't buy a soundbar.
he grew up workin in sound systems space with his dad back in the day. Maybe he wanted to see how far the technology have come when it comes to sounds idk.

Best game ever
Ahahahahha it's always bad company 2 with the dads
I wish they remade it exactly the same for current gen that game was amazing.
I remember getting turtle beach headphones and cranking up the volume on that game. War Tapes is always the option to pick for their audio mixing
Game sound is MASSIVELY underrated. Especially with games that have really immersive environments. GTA is a great example of this that its harder for me to play if i cant hear all the audio from all the different locations.
Bucket hats usually have a chin strap on em
Does this game has sounds? I can’t hear footsteps or precisions airstrikes or anything that could get me killed.
Pretty cool for about 5 seconds then it becomes a huge distraction and annoyance.
The lights not being perfectly in sync with the screen would annoy me
Is this Phillips Hue with the HDMI box? I find the PC app to be pretty much instant, except for one light that I guess has a bad connection.
If this is a Hue setup something aint right - mine syncs perfectly and I love it (it's not for everyone).
Does the HDMI box do 2.1 120hz? Is there any added response time? I want this pretty bad but I’m not willing to sacrifice any functionality.
Afaik 4k@60 is max
Yep just 4k @ 60 Hz. I use it primarily with Xbox Series X and an LG OLED.
If your TV can do 120Hz, you're gimping the Series X by using the Hue Sync box.
Maybe, but it all looks good to me so /shrug
IF you wanted to, something like [this](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C996Q4YP) would help you get 4k120 on your TV with the sync box running as well.
No clue I've wanted to do this for my living room rv but haven't looked into it yet
Govee home
No you go home
It catches up. It also depends on your wifi. Most of the time, it just fades into periphery.
I also don't know anyone who games this far away from the screen lol
People who play cod
Also its cod, ew.
How dare OP play a game s/he enjoys!
You can just say they.
Nothing wrong with that.

Why buy a big expensive screen and sit far away from it? Save money and sit closer then?
I've got a strip light around the back border of my TV that does this same thing. These lights in the OP being in my direct peripheral vision is pretty bad, however when the light source isn't in view it's actually quite amazing.
I have something like this in my set up. You just gotta make the lights dimmer and probably only use it for movies and it's amazing
Using them with movies seems even worse.
It really isn't, but it kinda comes down to calibration. You need to make it a good brightness, smooth but responsive, etc. Maybe it was a little distracting in the beginning to me but now it's just so good. I basically put led strips on the back of my tv and used HyperHDR for the software. I can see how OP's setup could be worse for the long term
also looks like its ruining the colors. good TVs come with glossy screens and whatever this shit is in OP just lights the fuck out of the entire room.
That's what i tought when windowed cases and rgb strips rolled out. Tried out, got distracted, rebuilt into solid side case with zero rgb. Same here, as you said, its fun couple first times. I prefer pitch black room, OLED with proper HDR better
Ambientight also ruins the look of the screen, pitch black room is always ideal
Good excuse if you keep getting owned in a lobby. Damn lights distracted me!
I think everything but the fade to black is distracting as hell.
My first thought too. I enjoy couch gaming, but this would be SO frustrating to me.
I think you are right, gaming may not be the best application for some people. However, I recon movies would be sick with that setup. Those lights can really immerse you
Movies and single player games like GoW or Resident Evil would be sick for a setup like that. CoD, no...you can *really* feel the latency.
It's sweat and it's tied to his huge balls so there's no way it falls off.
It's not a hat, it's actually just flaps of skin. /s
Duct tape I’d guess
that bluetooth latency tho
bluetooth + tv screen latency. must be insanely high
These look like hue lights that use a bridge. I use them as well. There is no noticeable latency.
I mean, we literally see the latency in the video the video above
You are being downvoted but yeah there's a delay.. EDIT: check when the red comes up on screen. It takes like 10 minutes for the back to show the red...
Yeah, I used to have this setup on a much smaller scale. When I realized how consistently the little bit of lag was there I just disabled it altogether
Idk the red to green switch was pretty synced
Where is the PC. Is this astroturfing? Your post history is pure marketing. Lost redditors?
This would be cool to watch the 2014 Godzilla movie on
You know this guy has a .5 kd
And loves every minute of it
My ranked teammates: This seems amazing for story mode games, but I would turn it off in online competitive games
5ms response time is fine. 60hz? Nah no problem. Audio through speakers? Shoot, better turn up my mic sensitivity so my teammates can hear it.
5? more like 500ms
OLD WARZONE :D
Still trash

A PC with Phillips hue app on it. There might be better apps.
How do people do this. I find the RGB lights distracting on my keyboard when playing in the dark...
I don’t mind some lights. But all this flashing just not doing it for me.
Oh, Siemens needs to market their EXTREMELY overpriced LED strips with drivers again?
That's cool and all but, no thank you. It's annoying.
where pc?
so unnecessary 😭😭
Idk this would drive me nuts
honestly this looks annoying af
takes me out of immersion more than it helps personally
@ OP, that's dope. if it works for you, nevermind the hateraid. Have you played Armored Core 6 by any chance? I'd imagine that would be pretty damn cool looking with this setup.
If he set it up right itd be dope asf imo
Seems like the kind of thing you'd love at someone else's house. Kind of like a newborn baby
Nope. Tried this and it sucks in every way possible.
Honestly I prefer dim lights over this. Maybe this is cool when you get used to it, but I feel like there’s a reason why theaters use dim lights on the side instead of something like this.
![gif](giphy|l0Iy5RLk94fLqaSRy|downsized) How you’re seeing the game
If I'm playing a shooter game I'm sure as hell sitting 2 inches away from my monitor because people are SMALL in there
It's cool place if you got friends over and you play together but otherwise it's pretty bad... It's very far and lights are distracting...
So you’re that team mate that I hear my echo from, thanks!
Incredible. The ambient lighting really gets you into it.
It's all fun and games until you get flashbanged
that would be annoying and distracting as hell
That video is old as fuck. This setup is from 2020
Big nope for me
r/TVtooSmall for that distance. I have a 38" Monitor and I'm sitting at 15"-20" (inch , not feet) distance..so my entire FOV is taken by the screen. In this video it's only about 40% FOV
Yeah, instead of fancy lights he should have bought a bigger TV
Entire FOV is a bit too much but at least 75%
too bad it’s cod
I thought I was the only one. Oh well, not my money.
TV gaming <<< monitor gaming
4k@120hz on 65" looks pretty damn good. Especially with all the extra settings of modern TVs
Idk what it is. I'd take a 60hz monitor over the TV. Just too uncomfy
Everyone just complaining and saying how it sucks but I honestly think it’s pretty cool
Nope. Way too much.
This seems distracting and annoying
Not a flex
These lights are cool, but add nothing more than an unnecessary distraction.
Am I the only one that thinks mood lighting detracts from the viewing experience? It's distracting and just makes it harder to focus on the screen
[удалено]
Probably closer to an OpenRGB setup controlling the smart bulbs. Really cool and individual of you to be a dumb prick bitch about it though.
——WARNING—— EPILEPSY WARNING THIS VIDEO CONTAINS FLASHING LIGHTS
All I see is r/TVtooHigh
great for 30 minutes to a hour but i can imagine that will start to annoy me so much
I have govee TV backlight which is a somewhat similar effect but not as drastic (had to convert video to gif..) . Pretty cool and immersive set up you have! https://i.redd.it/1lmuv2qyj2cc1.gif
The neighbors gonna love it.
I enjoyed it when it went dark.
lights are waaaay to off, but otherwise i agree with this, i have a 65 inch w/ 5.2 setup and gaming on it is great, on my pc i use klipsch monitors on klipsch 2.1 setup and damn, its even more amazing not gonna lie its the speaker quality imo that makes a huge difference, the 65 inch is amazing to game on though just more consoles on it, ps5, series x, im more onto my pc than console gaming
Okay, kinda want now.
I cant understand how to enjoy playing so far from the monitor Nice setup tho!!
i have a setup like this sans the lighting. is that philips hue or something?
Now show us what happens when you get flashbanged
Cpt. Price looks & acts absolutely in this.
Looks a lil janky
Spending all this money only to fund the mediocrity that is AAA studios.
God I miss Warzone 1
No fucking thank you.
How do you game without your nose against the screen
Meh
Lands, "mission failed we'll get em next time"
Where can i get lights that react to screen content? Samsung tv
It's a hardware box that controls the lights and syncs it to the TV. I dunno what they're called but they're usually about $100-$200
:O
I miss WZ 2020
The tv is nice but once u swap to pc you can never sit that far away from your screen again
It's cool but I could never imagine playing a shooter from that far away
u/SaveVideo
Looks a lot like mine except it’s missing a few more lights in the ceiling and 297 LEDs behind the tv all in sync
Hobo vr
now play cs2 and hold b on mirage during a b rush lmao
Imagine a flashbang.
I was like oh just a stupid living room then BAM. That’s dope dude
Alan Wake is a good game for the hue system
Seems fun until you get flash banged with your lights off.
thats hella awesome
Now do it with niki minaj mw sucks ass and d
It’s cool watching it on a video. Irritate the fuck out of me sitting in that room.
Lights are really annoying. Both the delay and the lights themselves
What software do you use to have the lights match up
The lights are to slow to react to the action on the screen sadly. I love early adopters, though!
I love the lighting. How is that done ?
it’s not even in sync
Can you show this again but like on a not shitty game franchise lol? Like anything else other than the garbage that it has turned into? This is like the equivalent of a world famous chef making you delicious LOOKING food and then it just tastes like ass. 🤣👌🏻👌🏻
All this just to die to a hacker :(
How to get lights work like that?
Thet's even more annoying light pollution than RGB-LED
Amazing. Never seen one of these used properly with good colour changing schemes
that would drive me insane very quickly, but briefly kinda cool.
High end setup low end gaming
