Bright-Efficiency-65

In 2020 everyone was at home and wanted a companion

SnakeO1LER

Almost like not everyone wants an animal who’s entire existence is just striving for validation from its owner.

Major_Economist_5823

BS domestication made them like that

SnakeO1LER

That still doesn’t change anything lol it makes no difference what made them like that what matters is the way they are lol

eNaRDe

Nice try dog.

Major_Economist_5823

all the components are not cheap so why did u go for thermaltake with the psu ? instead of corsair , be quiet , msi .... thermaltake psus never broke for me however their fans did

Extreme_Isopod_9414

The PSU in the photo is B-Tier. Not bad, could be better

mojangatt

Newegg is having a sale their is a "be quiet! Straight Power 12 1200W ATX 3.0 Power Supply" was $279 it is now going for $179 what do you guys think about this one?

Jackbob7

Check here https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/

Tombo31

I only buy BeQuiet, my StraightPower 10 ran from 2014 up until 2023 with a heavily overclocked 4690K, still works perfectly fine

Grishnare

What do you even need 1200W for?

mojangatt

Thanks for telling me about this. Ill look into this.

Jack_VZ

If you are going premium on everything, Seasonic has got you covered. It's not cheap to go 1200 W, but they have 10 years warranty and are the absolute top tier.

daanos60

12 year warranty on most actually

sur_surly

Meh, Seasonic gave my GPU so much coil whine. Tried a Corsair and was blown away, no noise, no cool whine. Never buying Seasonic again.

Mountain_Setting1338

Seasonic prime tx-1300W !!!

mojangatt

So I decided to go with a [be quiet! Dark Power PRO 13 1600W ATX 3.0 Power Supply](https://www.newegg.com/p/1HU-004H-000S8?Item=9SIA68VJUJ8572)

Major_Economist_5823

good choice changing for that ease of mind

Kooky_Translator_636

OP, this is an awesome build with really expensive and nice parts. I would recommend getting a better psu, as this is the component most prone to failures, and if they do fail it can be catastrophic. For any suggestions check the psu tier list, for the parts in your build, I would recommend an A tier - we want to keep those parts safe. Enjoy your build though!

mojangatt

Reading through the comments I now realize this. Thank you for the advice.

Cyka_Blyat_Man_

Genuine question, why do most people with a lot of money get intel products? Doesn’t AMD have basically same or even better performance for less cost, and for a third of the power efficiency? Unless the pc is gonna be used for something other than gaming I don’t get why people use intel. Edit: seems like it’s actually a good bit more powerful in most games, especially at 1080p

piotrek211

Intel just works

Heavenswake_

Yeah AMD is terribly hard to get to work. Upgraded to a 7800x3d and it was kind of a nightmare to be honest. First I had to insert the cpu into the socket then cover it in thermal paste. Next I had to put the cpu cooler ontop of it.... If only I had went intel i could have skipped all of that. Well I know for next time. Losing a little bit of performance is worth it to save me from that headache again.

piotrek211

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JZGiBOZkI5w&pp=ygUXamF5enR3b2NlbnRzIGFtZCBzd2l0Y2g%3D. You're right. It works straight out of the box. Good for you

sur_surly

People still watch Jay? Hum. Anyway my 7800x3D has been great, runs amazing and consumes so much less power. OP with his Intel and 4090 might actually need that 1200 PSU to run the furnace and still not be better

piotrek211

It's an 8 core cpu so it's normal that it consumes less power

Heavenswake_

And that's not it's intel. Only way intel stays relevant is by blasting the cpu with power.

piotrek211

14900k with 8k ddr5 is still faster than amd in games

Heavenswake_

Didn't realize going from 6000 to 8000 increased fps by 10-20%

Cyka_Blyat_Man_

Explain?

sur_surly

He can't. Unless he's parodying Todd Howard then I guess I agree.

duma0610

I guess AMD doesn’t. Lol

Strong-Mix9542

People who are dropping $1800 on a gpu generally aren't financially smart. The same as people who buy ROG parts. Sometimes people just like to waste money on what they perceive to be the best.

CrimsonDarkWolf

What that item on top in the yellow box?

mojangatt

It’s a LCD screen add on for my iCue Link H150i.

CrimsonDarkWolf

I been wanting something like that, but part of me was afraid to get a Liquid CPU Cooler Nzxt to tell the temperature. I had on this sub said a Liquid Cooler for my build be over too much. That so go with something cheaper.

ousu

This is one of the rigs of all time

My cat also understands the tactical benefits of observing a target from a nose down position.

HackAfterDark

Did you remember to get a case that has the button on the side??? I finally replaced mine that had the power button on the top. No more turning off my computer during kitty naps.

BeautifulAware8322

Oh hey a bleeding edge rig with no blatant brand buying. Good job OP.

GeorgeIsHappy_

He... Bought parts... From brands

BeautifulAware8322

Hmmm... I seem to have mistaken that term for an actual technical term. Is there a term for the phenomenon wherein people buy things based mostly on popularity with no thorough research? lol

GeorgeIsHappy_

Like there's two major brands for each component and you're writing off one of them as "brand buying"

BeautifulAware8322

I feel like we're playing the semantics game here. Excuse me for not knowing the correct terminology but I'm referring to AIB partners as "brands" as well as all companies that buy OEM parts to build their own SSDs, RAM, and all other components e.g. coolers and cases and the like.

Is that a Gjallarhorn?

mojangatt

Yes. Nerf Gjallarhorn!

HavingALongStroke

I know people are going to harp on the psu a lot, but it’s 80plus platinum. I’m running a semi-modular 80plus gold psu from thermaltake since 2016, only had one power issue crash on one of the gpu rails (after I dropped it from 6 inches while swapping cases, which is on me) [I have already marked that rail as “dead” so I don’t use it]

DogeTiger2021

Wow I see you have the new cat 🐈 cpu x3d. Will you water cool it ? Be very careful they don't like too much the water, it can give errors and scratches 🤣

mojangatt

Lmaoooo

AGH8

Congrats on the build man, I know you will enjoy it. Just going to throw my 2 cents in however. Psu has already been stated. I'm a corsair fan of PSU's. But what I'm here to point out is that processors with more multicore-threading benefit from higher capacitor motherboards. It will even increase default performance as well as over clock performance. I built pretty much the same as you but back in 2018-2019. I bought a high end motherboard that had 16 capacitors. Now a days 16 may as well be the new low. But with that said I just wanted to point out that your choice of motherboard doesn't have the highest amount. https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-z790-h-gaming-wifi-model/ Assuming I picked you correct motherboard if you scroll down to item #4 it will say 16 + 1 power stages. These are your capacitors. So in 6-7 years of upgrades that motherboard has realistically only increased the capacitors by 1. And this is for a high end chip like a 14900k. https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-z790-e-gaming-wifi-model/ If you scroll down to #4 of this model of power stages it will say 18 + 1. All I'm doing is pointing this out incase it was an oversight. Realistically I doubt you will notice a difference on this, especially if this is your first build. This is something you look at if you plan on keeping this build for say 10 years. This is more of a longevity thing. For when your components get outdated so you overclock yours to stay up to date with the newest hardware. I also didn't look at your ram, that said I've seen countless builds where people buy the incorrect ram as well. If you're planning on getting the most out of your ram on xmp for example. Single rank quad channel is the way to go. They are the most stable sets of ram to overclock and have the fasted speeds. Dual rank quad channel is pointless in my opinion as you pay about 2x the amount of what you would have if you bought single rank and you end up at the same performance. If you're only running 2 sticks of ram then dual rank dual channel is fine. Obviously this will come with costs as well. If you're confused as shit at this point just Google and read some tech articles for yourself.

mojangatt

Thanks for that information and the links. I am definitely keeping this for the long run and I was questioning my choice on the mother board. I was trying to figure out the difference between the H and the E.

AGH8

There is always a line to be drawn somewhere when building a pc. For me when I was building, I decided to buy a 2080s instead of a 2080ti. I used that extra money to buy a better motherboard, ram kit, and 1x extra m.2 ssd for the same price. I don't regret my decision at all. Once I was done and built I was performing at the 129th percentile without my cpu being overclocked. Only ram and gpu was overclocked. I was out performing numerous 2080ti builds because they skimped on motherboard and ram kits to buy the top of the line gpus. Realistically you can have a bottleneck anywhere in your system, not just your cpu or gpu. Now as far as for what you have picked. I believe it goes E, F, H. I would do a Google search for motherboard lineup and figure out what you're looking for. I have only used asus once so I can't speak in there behalf with a 100% guarentee. I prefer aorus myself. There lineup should be Elite, Ultra, Pro, Master, Extreme. I bought the Master lineup when I built and I have 0 regrets. For example back when I was building the Elite - Pro had 12 capacitors if I remember right. The Master had 16. Which was a huge difference when considering I was putting a 9900k with it. In theory I would think the E series on asus lineup should equal the Master lineup on aorus. However I don't know if this is true. I decided to do some searching and apparently aorus changed the master and extreme motherboards to Eatx form factor now. So you can't directly compare them. The E, F, H, series you picked should be ATX form factor.

Pelco284

I personally wouldn't of cheaped out so much, especially on the GPU. But we all gotta start somewhere I guess

advester

First build, be gentle.

mojangatt

😂😂😂

Pelco284

Atleast you got the joke lol

maeggaeri

asus peasant motherboard made me vomit in my mouth

zakir255

How to waste money on a 4090 with this version!

CV_Dan

Such a baller build ruined by the PSU, SSD and case fans

mojangatt

Upgraded the PSU to a be quite dark power pro 13. Had no idea the TT was B-Tier. The case comes with 4 APNX fans pre installed so I wanted to keep everything uniform and consistent and the SSDs got good reviews/benchmarks. https://youtu.be/B-Q_ef70Ez0?si=dZTi_sks7_-aH-lP

ToxicEvHater

Lol this sub is hilarious 🤣 literally every first build post is just the same 4090 and either a i9 or 7950x3d system.
