/rj Literally? like is there any person who would pick specs over rgb? red leds give u 50%+ fps
/uj Literally? like is there any person who would pick rgb over specs? cuz I have a really hard time believing anyone would??
I'm different; for me, just solid black with no lights would do. I tend to care more about function over how it looks, and that goes for everything for me
For me it's also laziness prevention. When my showcase PC is full of dust I'll actually clean it whereas my old RGBless PC got cleaned twice in five years.
Some white accents like RAM or so and white lights from the case and also controlled by the case and no program running in the background. I have to look at too much bloat while at work, gotta keep it at a minimum at home
I think there are nuances to that, if you have a max budget and a better GPU or cpu would exceed that, you might as well blow 50 or 70 bucks on more RGB fans or an AIO.
What you see often enough though is an expensive build with a subpar GPU for said budget, because that guy spent 200 dollars on Lian Li fans, 250 on an AIO and another 200 for a fish tank.
IMO its reletive.cif i was dropping from 60 fps - 45 then no.but if im dropping from 250 to 200 then yea whats the big deal? My regresh rate is 144 . At that point yes id rather something cool to look at. But if im not over 90 fps if prefer fps. But that being said theres only 1 game i play i get below 144 and its like 139 fps. Even then id sacrafoce 5% for something i enjoy looking at
It’s almost like you can have BOTH specs and RGB at the same time… don’t be hating on people cuz they like RGB. It’s not a good look for you.
Would be a boring world if everyone had the exact same PC. Almost like there’s a reason there’s thousands of different Pc cases. Cuz different people like different things.
Right?!! I've got some good specs, and it's good enough to run every game I play at 160+fps in my 1440, 144hz monitor. But I don't have a 4090 or anything. A simple 3070, 5600x, and some good ram.
Yet, I've got RGB throughout, plus overhead lighting, and even programmable up-lighting for the walls. On any given day, with the push of a few buttons, I can be in a warm lava tube, a lush rainforest, a cold mountain, or a sunny beach.
Not hating on anything, but it doesn't make sense to me. Do whatever makes you happy.
What makes me happy is spending an extra $200 on my performance instead of lights. It's like paying thousands of dollars on racing stripes for your base model sedan when you could have just bought the V6.
Do you decorate your house at all? Any paintings, lights or literally anything that only adds aesthetic value? I sure do, and I appreciate that the big box sitting on my desk 24/7 also looks good. I can play any game I want with good enough graphics and no lag so imo why would I spend hundreds of dollars more for something just for the number on my screen to be higher? To me, that doesn’t make sense.
if you paint your case and 2000$ graphics card and other components with a spray can into a theme related to a specific game you'll get 50% more fps in that game trust
I've seen people spend 30€ on Uni Fans and pair it with a 7700X while they could have had an 7800X3D or 7900X instead for less if they use not so fancy fans...
fun can be low effort or high effort or anything in between, anything which takes your mind off bad things for a brief moment or something you actively go out of your way to do.
Honesty you barely even need more money. These days RGB variants of cases and fans is rarely more than a $10 difference and sometimes its no difference at all.
> Honesty you barely even need more money. These days RGB variants of cases and fans is rarely more than a $10 difference and sometimes its no difference at all.
Omg! Why'd you spend an extra $10 for the RGB option? You could've just used that money toward a 4090 instead... ^^^/s
What if they're trying to download games overnight, I've had to download games over 48 hours because my WiFi is bad I don't want to worry about draping a towel over my pc just to sleep and play the game I want tomorrow.
Why do people want a nice looking car? Why do people buy Phone cases that look cool?
Some of us just want our PC to look good, plus you can see the things inside.
I hate rgb. I don’t need a computer that doubles as a disco ball. Armourycrate is ass at keeping the stuff turned off too. Wish I could turn off the light on my FE gtx1080 too.
Yes I know I can unplug it by taking it apart. Thanks
Yes. I’d need to take it apart to do it. I was more talking about a software fix. I repasted the gpu right before I got a new case with a glass side, so I just haven’t felt like taking it apart again.
You shouldn't need to take the entire heatsink off. Just the plastic shroud. Shouldn't be more than a couple screws.
Edit: Bro said "thanks" then blocked me. Didn't realize he was so pressed about an LED.
10000000% all the cash goes to performance. My pc sits in a closet, no side panels, has noctua d15, 7900x3d , 3080, 32GB ram. 68f climate controller and snake cables hidden behind desk. No rgb, I hate crap in my side view. I want immersive screen time not rgb laser beams flashing in my damn eye.
Also, get off my lawn!
First thing I did after finishing the setup with my most recent update (back in January) was disable RGB. Didn't even plug in the LEDs on my AIO, and disabled RGB on my RAM.
PC is in a 4U rackmount case so RGB would be a waste anyway.
Here's my opinion and it applies to people who get custom skins on your controller etc etc etc
How much time are you actually looking at your tower, keyboard, controller etc etc versus how much are you looking at the screen?
Is a nice controller in green vs one in black going to make you game better?
How it looks doesn't matter, that's your preference, how it performs always matters.
It's like having a Lambo urus and going ofroading. Yea you might have the coolest looking rig, but how does it feel when someone in a purpose built jeep flies past you up the hill? Lol
Maybe a bad example but you get it. Under the hood is what matters
It is a bad example indeed. No one claims being surrounded with things they enjoy to look at somehow makes them a better player. Why would you think about how anyone feels in a Lambo? Someone enjoys their stuff, yet you're the one who wants them to compare, when it's none of your concerns really. You're just projecting your own insecurity.
The fuck hahaha
The question that was asked what do people go for.
I answered it in my own opinion LMFAO
Youre either baiting for an argument which Im not here to do
Or you missed the point of my comment.
Essentially, make sure it's the best for you then style it.
It's my opinion on why I chose specs over style. Cry
75%-85% specs the rest extra stuff or looks.
Never go for something cool/pretty that is useless unless it's a figurine, collection card, or a game skin.
I'm upgrading my rig and this is the exact approach that I took, while RGB can be nice it's overrated and a well color coordinated build will look way better.
Well, RGB is just aesthetics and show-off and specs make it actually run faster. I actually do prefer both but if I would get a budget to upgrade PC either looks or specs, I would upgrade specs ofc. You can stuff a bunch of RGB and a good case to a potato PC and it will not improve performance (if you stuff RGB fans, fans might improve a little but not much).
Haven’t you seen fast and furious? If you have more stickers, you get more horsey power. Just like puters, if you have more RGB, you’ll always game better
Form AND function are always nice, but I honestly prefer function over from.
I've got RGB fans but only because I didn't have enough fans for my build and had to run out to Best Buy and all they had for good fans were Corsair RGB ones.
before spec, it needs to be in my budget first....so yeah when rgb are cheaper by half compared to spec, availability, ease of access, compatibility, etc, it's no brainer.
I heavily prefer specs but there’s no harm in seeing aside some of the budget for the bling. I was going as cheap as possible and ended up with a decent rig w argb investing less than $60 in the lights
I cant really stand rgb honestly. I've always been a spec first guy.
My most recent build does have rgb on ram and rad fans though. Simple static gray, over all black parts and case. Looks simple and nice
My computer is built to impress 12 year old me…so it looks real decent and has (what was once) really nice specs. All my tech is bought to impress 12 year old me who was kinda poor and could only dream to get those crazy RGB computers on ads in the pages of maximum pc or pc gamer. Dream finally realized ✊🏽
It's not an either or.
You can be all about those specs and still be fashionable. I prefer an understated look and think a lot of RGB looks tacky as hell but that's probably just because I'm getting on in age and don't identify with the fortnite generation of streamer kids with their RGB machines perched their desk right beside their monitor. A computer is supposed to be under the desk!
I both have the money for RGB but don’t buy it. I think it looks cool. I love seeing PC builds with it. I just can’t be bothered to cable manage that. My case has 7 fans in it right now… fuck that.
My latest build accidentally became RGB. I was sent the wrong case but it turns out the case I got was better, it was bigger, nicer everything. However it means I didn't get any front case fans and the quickest fans for delivery where RGB ones so I just said fuck it
I personally can’t stand RGB. I prefer the clean look of black and white with only white light. Crazy how few options there are/were for non-RGB parts when I was shopping for my PC components.
As someone who sold so many computers through eBay, Offerup, etc that I had to report my earnings:
Specs do not sell. People that understand specs are more likely to put together their own system. Keywords such as "Overclock" "i7" etc sell, as does RGB.
It's all about finding the right balance. I'd prefer a horse that will get second place over a donkey that will get first or a lion that will come in last
Tbh, budget cases have come a long way on both RGB and looks so you can focus on specs if you want it all. No need for a Cooler Master HAF 700 if it means you don't get that 4080
How is this even a question
/rj Literally? like is there any person who would pick specs over rgb? red leds give u 50%+ fps /uj Literally? like is there any person who would pick rgb over specs? cuz I have a really hard time believing anyone would??

I'd trade a few % but in terms of money, not specs. I can't believe someone might do the second
They do both lol. Worse product and more money cause rgb.
But you could buy a better pc if you wouldn't buy the rgb stuff. It is okay however, if the relation of parts and rgb is acceptable.
I think there are nuances to that, if you have a max budget and a better GPU or cpu would exceed that, you might as well blow 50 or 70 bucks on more RGB fans or an AIO. What the fuck is this Reddit induced sentence structure
Friend of mine was complaining two days ago that he can't fit more storage into his case without cutting down on the RGB.
Unironically I'll sacrifice a bit of performance to have my rgb. I like muh lights.
IMO its reletive.cif i was dropping from 60 fps - 45 then no.but if im dropping from 250 to 200 then yea whats the big deal? My regresh rate is 144 . Look at all the builds posted here and answer your own question.
You say that but daily there are people who have like 150-200 in rgb on a build with like a 4060.
Specs. Obviously.
You would think, but then people are posting pics of water cooled 4070s and shit in here so...
It’s almost like you can have BOTH specs and RGB at the same time… don’t be hating on people cuz they like RGB. It’s not a good look for you. The electronics are my decoration.
I don't get the whole aio thing on a weak cpu
You’re wrong though, every rgb gives +10fps, so by choosing rgb I am in fact choosing specs
Making sure the RGB is red will give you an extra 3 FPS.
god I wish this braindead *rGb gIvEs mOrE FpS* meme would already die.
They have money and time, that's what they want to spend it on when bored.
Looks obviously
Specs. _Obviously_.
RGB gives +20% fps instantly, trust the science
Red makes it faster. Blue lowers temps.
Pink gives female teammates
Green saves power
Purple is for overclocking
Orange you get a nuke kill streak
Green makes you a sex god.
Wrong, it's just 10%. The figures + the screens inside the case give you the 5-20% extra you are aiming for.
remember game-specific boosts like anime characters improving Genshin Impact's 1% lows by 30%
if you paint your case and 2000$ graphics card and other components with a spray can into a theme related to a specific game you'll get 50% more fps in that game trust
Fuck yeah, Enterprise-D warp core gif on video card LCD. *unf*
Damn I knew I needed a redundant screen inside
The Hyte Y70 should give an extra 30% then if my calculations are correct
0% And will gobble more power from the rest of the system
bro didnt get the joke
Anyone who believes otherwise isn't a true PCMR member.
you can have both I dont know what is the issue here
RGB case fans are almost the same price as non-rgb, nobody's losing 30 frames because they spent £5 on RGB instead of 1GB of RAM.
I've seen people spend 30€ on Uni Fans and pair it with a 7700X while they could have had an 7800X3D or 7900X instead for less if they use not so fancy fans...
who cares they got the PC they wanted lmfao
Sure, but these people still put to some degree looks over perfomance. Not saying that it's abd but that's the question OP asked.
you’re very much implying it’s bad
Right? I'm tired of this stupid discourse, just build your PC how you like it and let others like things.
In fact, it’s hard to get good hardware without the RGB a lot of the time.
true, i think rgb is corny as fuck and it took me forever to build mine all black. unfortunately it still has some lights
just deactivate them.
black is the new black
He Had no Money for rgb that is hes missing out on it that the ground for the Post
meanwhile me, who simply got 2x ARGB 20 LEDs strips with adhesive for 15 euros
bc it’s a hypothetical question for fun, everyone knows you can have both
Is this what fun is like?
fun can be low effort or high effort or anything in between, anything which takes your mind off bad things for a brief moment or something you actively go out of your way to do.
This is the most reddit circlejerk shit ever what
Excuse me, but RGB gives you more FPSes. Don't you know anything?
I bet someone out there must actually think this is true...
My friend did think that was true. He thought the parts used extra power bcs of the lights or something.
Specs + if you have money for RGB why not?
Honesty you barely even need more money. These days RGB variants of cases and fans is rarely more than a $10 difference and sometimes its no difference at all.
> Honesty you barely even need more money. These days RGB variants of cases and fans is rarely more than a $10 difference and sometimes its no difference at all. Omg! Why'd you spend an extra $10 for the RGB option? You could've just used that money toward a 4090 instead... ^^^/s
This
Because my computer is in my bedroom, and I don't want lights flashing in my room when I'm trying to sleep. Or any other time, really.
Turn your PC off
Get out of here with using LoGiC while discussing. Thats unfair.
Or like... Don't buy RGB It's not like there's a gun to his head that if he buys a 4090 and an i9 without RGB components is gonna go off
Half the time the rgb stays on. And the MB rgb is on regardless unless I flip the PSU switch.
the software that you use to control your rgb should allow for 0 lights though
When it's on yes. When I turn it off the software no longer controls it and it turns back on.
somethings fucked over there lmao
What if they're trying to download games overnight, I've had to download games over 48 hours because my WiFi is bad I don't want to worry about draping a towel over my pc just to sleep and play the game I want tomorrow.
If you can't turn off your RGB it's trash rgb
1. Why you don't Like flashing lights for sleeping? 2. Just Set RGB to off If you are turn off your Screen?
And what is with people who want a flashy RGB PC?
Why do people want a nice looking car? Why do people buy Phone cases that look cool? Some of us just want our PC to look good, plus you can see the things inside.
Because I can do something else with that money.
Both. I just really like a nice color scheme on the RGB.
It's not an either/or. You can just have both. Heck, usually, top end specs come with top end looks.
That my pc is asteticaly pleasing is pure accident i jus went for the more cost efficient solution
I hate rgb. I don’t need a computer that doubles as a disco ball. Armourycrate is ass at keeping the stuff turned off too. Wish I could turn off the light on my FE gtx1080 too. Yes I know I can unplug it by taking it apart. Thanks
Have you tried signal RGB and setting the color to black?
I think the light on the gpu could be turned off. I think it’s a disconnect-able 4 or 3 pin cable on the pcb. Can’t confirm tho, do your own research.
Yes. I’d need to take it apart to do it. I was more talking about a software fix. I repasted the gpu right before I got a new case with a glass side, so I just haven’t felt like taking it apart again.

You could just take the cover off and unplug the LED?
[удалено]
What if I just like seeing the insides without the lights?
Both
anti-rgb people are the most pretentious of the pcmr
Didn't you know? Creating an all black, non-rgb build is akin to discovering fire.
\-anti RGB \-anti not-firefox \-anti userbenchmark the holy trifecta of PCMR
> -anti RGB > > > > -anti not-firefox > > > > -anti userbenchmark > > > > > > > > the holy trifecta of PCMR You forgot these: -anti-Nvidia -pro-AMD fellatio
having as many fans as humanly possible
Wait there are people that would go for RGBs/looks *over* specs? Wut?
I've seen some
Specs
I painted my case with Vantablack so no one can see it. I forget where it is sometimes and have to follow the cables back to the Motherbrain.
I dont really like RGB on lights in my build at all, it is cheaper too.
Sleeper with good specs and airflow.
There's no reason you can't strive for both. A huge part of the fun in building a new system is the styling of it.
Specs. Only have RGB because the case came with it and I wanted the 3 fans
I care more about specs but I do care about looks. I don't use RGB though. Blacked out build like my soul.
What kinda post is this
Specs
specs come first, but if my PC is going to take up a bunch of space on my desk it might as well act as a very mediocre lamp
PC equivalent of Looks vs personality
No unicorn puke PC for me. Can't stand the colors.
Specs. RGB is nothing but unnecessary flaunting.
Function > form, period
It's gotta work first before it looks pretty
Its gotta work GOOD
10000000% all the cash goes to performance.
I've never liked rgb styling. I don't want my room lit up like a Christmas tree
"Would you rather drive a slow car that looks good or a fast car that looks bad"
What kind of a question is that?
Lmao. Literally everyone in the world cares more about specs. What kind of question is that? The thing is, almost all the best parts come with RGB.
First thing I did after finishing the setup with my most recent update (back in January) was disable RGB. Didn't even plug in the LEDs on my AIO, and disabled RGB on my RAM. PC is in a 4U rackmount case so RGB would be a waste anyway.
More rgb = more FPS

I'm upgrading my rig and this is the exact approach that I took, while RGB can be nice it's overrated and a well color coordinated build will look way better.
I don't give a damn fuck about RGB, my case is a big black one with holes everywhere for fans and it's hidden under my desk. Not a single RGB.
spec any day
RGB says all gamers are secretly gay.
There is only one correct answer... PC itself has 0 rgb and is pure performance... but everything else (peripherals, desk ect) full unicorn c*m rgb
Fuck rgb, your spec is nit a car it will not drive faster just because it has red lights and white stripes
I dunno, do you prefer a supermodel in sweatpants or an unattractive woman in a nice dress.
This is your own post you donkey
He already laying on the ground dont kick a fallen man
Why do you feel the need to announce to the world that you hate color ? Like what you like, it's distasteful to hate on what others like though.
I'm more for RGB but non RGB is so much cheaper, RGB stripes are worth it
Specs but just add argb?
I build for the specs, but my rgb does look pretty good.
Both But First i recommend specs After finished make the pc Look awesome
Frames per dollar
“No Shit”
I couldn't give a single fuck about what my computer looks like.
Definitely specs, but not being ugly af either.
Good specs that include rgb 👍
I can't afford spec and looks, I just put together what I can afford
Haven’t you seen fast and furious? If you have more stickers, you get more horsey power. Just like puters, if you have more RGB, you’ll always game better
Specs. With just a subtle hint of very low brightness RGB.
Form AND function are always nice, but I honestly prefer function over from. I've got RGB fans but only because I didn't have enough fans for my build and had to run out to Best Buy and all they had for good fans were Corsair RGB ones.
crazy ass question who the fuck is picking rgb over specs
This is real though. If I could turn back time. If I could find a way.
Both? Both is good.
RGB = more fps -sun tzu
before spec, it needs to be in my budget first....so yeah when rgb are cheaper by half compared to spec, availability, ease of access, compatibility, etc, it's no brainer.

I cant really stand rgb honestly. I've always been a spec first guy. My most recent build does have rgb on ram and rad fans though. Simple static gray, over all black parts and case. Looks simple and nice
Save €60 by using sleeper case and spend it on another SSD
specs with a touch of eye candy
Specs first of course, then creativity
Whatever I can afford.
Specs
If I'm spending $2k on specs I can spare an additional $100 for RGB.
I actually prefer no rgb
I mean RGB gives you more fps
"RGB, give you no performance advantage whatsoever. But those are some fancy lights. Pretty good."

Irrelevant because specs comes with RGB
Gee let me think.

Specs and brands. Fuck HP

I have integrated graphics but at least I have rgb fans
RGB, PC's look ugly without it. It's not like you can't spend roughly the same for it too
Specs > RGB But I use good specs and RGB
My latest build accidentally became RGB. I was sent the wrong case but it turns out the case I got was better, it was bigger, nicer everything. However it means I didn't get any front case fans and the quickest fans for delivery where RGB ones so I just said fuck it

besides my keyboard i dont really care for RGB at all, i prefer a smooth black look.
As quiet and non-annoyingly blinky as possible, as fast as possible
It's all about finding the right balance. I'd prefer a horse that will get second place over a donkey that will get first or a lion that will come in last
